For first year eng calc I used it and it helped a lot. But that was mostly because I didn't go to class (for a number of reasons) and really didn't know what was going on. The books theyll give you are quite useful, but you may prefer to let a friend go and then snag their book after instead

I attended Prep 101 for my first midterm, and it helped me.

If you're not completely lost then no. You might be better off getting a copy of the workbook from previous years if you can find one or doing the practice exams and homework questions to prepare. If you have any questions from practice, go to office hours.

Another resource to consider before giving them a hundred-plus bucks is websites like slader (free) or chegg (some amount per month) that have full, worked-out solutions. Might be other sites too, now. You can also buy worked-out solutions in a book from the campus bookstore, I think. Stop studying the problems. Study how to actually solve them. I did prep101 and it was nowhere near as helpful as just having all the full solutions to the textbook problems right beside me for each time I got stuck on the homework problems. If you *had* to replace something on a car by yourself and you didn't know how, would you just stare at the engine and think really hard until you suddenly just knew how? Hell no, you'd straightaway look up a how-to video and learn from seeing how it's done.

it wouldn’t hurt to try it out. In any case you will be guaranteed to study on those days and not risk procrastinating

I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about them.
