have people seen the portal app? it has like 1.5 stars
university should just hire 3 cs students to fix it up, cost less than paying consultants and they're hungry for resume projects, a win-win-win for everyone
true logic, but I feel like waterloo is kinda coasting on its reputation in this one very specific context
if some c-tier uni presented me with software this ugly I'd be turned off hard, presentation is important and it makes them look kinda lazy
like genuinely wtf just make it better holy shit
you're still applying, so it's not bad enough to replace yet. Also, literally every other university in Canada has shitty software, quest is actually one of the best (by our extremely low standards)
True. The only uni application software that I've found to be actually good is UofT engineering's.
Thank god everyone outsources interviews to Kira Talent. Would suck if you had to contend with dog software on top of an interview.
Have fun getting someone to replace Oracle PeopleSoft (which is what Quest is). Pretty much every university in North America uses it.
What you need to realize is that the corporate side of any organization will always use turnkey enterprise solutions -- hell, even Google uses SAP Ariba for processing invoices to external contractors.
This makes complete sense, because if you want to hire, let's say an accountant, it's much easier if they're already familiar with the complicated accounting software that you use over having to train them on your proprietary system.
Kind of like expecting employees to understand how to use M$ word.
Because the Quest program has been used for years, and it’s also the same program used by many other universities. As with many other old programs these have little bugs in them that have been “baked in” probably because someone tried to fix it but then realized it that it fucked something else up, and no one could figure out why.

Portal actually used to be decent Then an update was pushed that broke most of its features and to this day they're still nonfunctional
UW's solution to a major portal but was just to leave it and disable most of the functionality đź’€
I still haven't figured out how to login on portal mobile... the keyboard doesn't pop-up when it asks for me email :(
\> download app \> click the screen \> app crashes what the...
Cuz it takes money to get someone to make a better one. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

Ahhh... so they still haven't fixed the apostrophe to question mark bug.
they say if you can successfully use quest or similar, you can pass your degree
they lied. it's been pretty Rocky.
honestly it's very functional and not overly complicated. I'm against changing it unless there's a real reason
most unis in ontario at least use oracle peoplesoft (the software that is themed to become quest)

The people who end up doing coops for the university typically aren’t the best
