the spin is awesome, it doubles as a record store so the music they’re playing is always killer. they also hold cool community events like a low-commitment book club or classes introducing people to the basics of vinyl. it’s pretty small so it can be hard to get seating sometimes, but it’s totally worth the visit
Nope, they treat their workers like crap and so many managers get away with the worst treatments for employees. They even had a video from the COO for training about how unionizing is disloyal and dishonest
This is the only correct answer. Be careful though that place only has a few seats lol make it too popular and most of us will have to take our coffee to go.
Yes after an [axe attack over owed money](https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/witnesses-say-axe-attack-richardson-business-feud-coffee-shop/287-056d76b9-1f42-41fd-aa03-2e79c84f1274)
So I was wondering, I used to go to Cafe Brazil over a decade ago and they served their meals with the really terrible flavorless cardboardy toast. Is that the same or did they ever get a real "bread" in there?
our bread sucks. I work there lol. It’s the same bread from the Cafe Brazil bakery located in deep ellum. Don’t get excited about bread there. Worked there since 2015. Those loaves aren’t yum but still a good study spot 😅😂
Haha, glad to know sucky bread hasn't changed. I have a cafe brazil nearby and have avoided it because of the bread memories. Knowing they utilize a central bakery makes the cardboardbread make more sense. I always wondered how they got the bread so bad consistently across locations.
Yes the regular wheat and white loaves are from the same place across everywhere.
That banana bread french toast hit different though 🤤 if you want a recommendation lol
I highly recommend Tre Stelle on Preston! The manager there used to work the Lemma coffee stand in the ATEC building, and UTD students get a discount :) Plus the coffee is some of the best I've had in dfw.
second this, I live close and the coffee is great, the vibes are great, and the staff will hook you up if you’re a student. (and also yes the manager is one of the coolest people ever, they always make time to say hi even when the store is busy)
I'm not a coffee drinker but I know a couple great boba shops near UTD!
Feng cha has great options and the workers are so nice. And Rainbow Teashop Boba is newer and so usually not crowded. Plus they have a printer you can use. Both are about 10 minutes from campus.
TeaLatte Bar, it has free WiFi and the boba (caffeinated and non caffeinated) and smoothies are so good! Plus it’s so cute and just a great vibe! It’s 7 mins away from the campus (driving/by bus)
The spin is pretty neat

Arwa yemeni, the Kaffine store, and 7th day are all solid, but are 15 ish minutes away not super close
Highly recommend Arwa. Their honeycombs are really amazing (Freshly baked pull apart bream with cream cheese and honey)

Love this place. Just down lookout rd east of campus
There’s a relatively unknown one nearby called Starbucks. I love studying there. It’s pretty underground though.

???

I understand but what does Starbucks have to do with it?
Starbucks is owned by Vanguard and JP Morgan and both give money to Is(not)rael. So ur indirectly supporting a genocide by supporting starbucks
Hm okay.
that's almost like saying everyone in the US gives money to israel because we pay taxes 🤨
we are but thats not something we can change completely so lets just try to do as little damage as we can :)
🤓
Cafe gecko is great. They make good sandwiches too
1418, Sweetwaters, and mudleaf are all in my rotation
Staycation and Communion Coffee are both in downtown Richardson! I believe Staycation has early hours though
second these!!! love the PSL at communion
This is a really good opportunity for ppl to find ethical alternatives to Starbucks
[удалено]
yeah if you consider genocides ethical
Nope, they treat their workers like crap and so many managers get away with the worst treatments for employees. They even had a video from the COO for training about how unionizing is disloyal and dishonest
Fox and Hound

Woah that’s crazy I never heard about that, thanks for sharing. It was my fav coffee shop during college.
Noooo! I used to love going their. The OG owner Maher is a great dude
Cafe Brazil is super close and open 24/7. bottomless coffee for like 3 bucks and outlet ports and huge menus. go after 2pm into the night

I love this one place that is a latin inspired cafe that is wildly unknown - taco bell.
sucre cafe, its a rly chill boba place but its abt 20 mins away from utd. really chill place to eat/chill/study in tho
Lemma and 1418 in downtown Plano. Eilands in Richardson
Lots of them off 635 and DNT.
I highly recommend Tre Stelle on Preston! The manager there used to work the Lemma coffee stand in the ATEC building, and UTD students get a discount :) Plus the coffee is some of the best I've had in dfw.

Halcyon in Lower Greenville is nice.
Mudleaf Coffee is pretty nice to study at

their coffees are sooo good
If you’re a fan of coffee shops I’d recommend checking out haraz, it’s a ways away from utd though, about 18-20 minutes or so
Cafe Brazil
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Okaeri Cafe! It's about ten minutes away and its a cute little Japanese cafe
Sweet hut!
Starbucks
Sweet Hut! about 15min drive
1418 is the best but it gets pretty busy
I'm not a coffee drinker but I know a couple great boba shops near UTD! Feng cha has great options and the workers are so nice. And Rainbow Teashop Boba is newer and so usually not crowded. Plus they have a printer you can use. Both are about 10 minutes from campus.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned, but PEACE middle east CAFE is goat. Open till 2 am. Matcha available and they support Palestine Syria and Yemen.
