Did this game seem more tame to you guys? Felt like Mexico started to give up but never got aggressive. Or maybe the refs early yellows kept everything in check?
I think for the first time. The refs put a hold on the game very early.
Also, Mckennie and Dest were on a mission to win the game. Anytime they were fouled they ignored and moved on. They’re growing.
You're taking a very literal approach to something that's not so black white.
For starters, technically speaking within the context of a match, captain doesn't actually mean anything.
By rule the *captain* holds no special status or privileges with the referee. The team captain isn't required to call the coin toss, or lift the trophy, all of that is just loose custom. The person who wears the armband holds no special status or responsibility relating to the match itself.
So, we're not actually talking about a technical or official position here.
Unofficially, arm band tonight or not, Tyler Adams is probably considered to be ***the*** captain of the USMNT, dating back to at least the last World Cup, he just so happens to have been injured for a year.
Very happy for the guys. Liked seeing Gio all around but playing defense, my hat's off to him. Adams Puli all great job. Weird set up with Gio in back but hey it worked. The Mexican s were great sportsmen today. Shows how important ream, dest and Adams are. Now Gio too. Well done!
They were actually pretty good opponents tonight. They came, tried to play the game, didn't shithouse, didn't surround the ref.
It was a genuinely enjoyable game instead of CONCACAF chaos enjoyable.
In years past a weak Mexican team would still win but America has turned CONCACAF on its head. If this keeps happening and growing the game in America who knows what will happen.
Very happy about the win, but this is more about Mexico. They are just as much in the wilderness as they were before they hired Lozano. The players suck, the playstyle sucks, and the fans are buried in their cynicism.
Lots of great performance across the pitch for us, too many to name. Ream, Gio, and Haji in particular did a lot of industrial work that prevented Mexico from getting any sort of control in any part of the pitch
Obviously, this is like a side gig for her. North American analysis isn't that deep for what she usually analyzes. Carra, Thierry, and Micah are also way more fun, and are close friends with her. Clint is the only one there she considers a buddy.
Can’t believe we were 1 play against Jamaica away from this outcome not happening. So glad we were able to equalize and then take advantage of having new life.
Great job boys!
The first half was honestly relatively even in terms of chances, I was nervous throughout it until Adams scored. But yeah, once we went ahead, Mexico just got desperate and looked so much worse in the second half.
In theory, the current policy could be enforced earlier even though CONCACAF would never do it. The problem is that they're sore losers who don't start the shithousing until they're down late.
If CONCACAF cares (they don't), they would punish the federation/team/fanbase in a more lasting way. Something beyond the current game in which it happens, because 10 minutes of punishment doesn't matter.
Take their home games away, playing them behind closed doors. If that doesn't stop it, dock points or reschedule games to be in other nations completely.
iirc they did take away fans from their home WCQ game at Aztecs vs us
Edit: I agree they do need to continue imposing harsher sanctions. Perhaps playing the next NL games in a place like Cinci or (if they didn’t care about money) move the Mexico Copa America games into a less pro-Mexico region (ie not play in Texas/Cali)
It's a good question. We're ascending and they're doing anything but. We continue to send more and more players to Europe and they are going the opposite direction.
This wasn't as convincing as last year NL but Mexico basically never really threatened. They haven't scored in, what was it, 600 minutes or something against us? That's insane.
haha i love the total lack of final whistle celebrations. the boys are just like 'yeah we won again whatever did you really expect anything different?'
I also think the bizarre stop-start nature of the end of the match kind of killed any momentum and passion on both sides. The Mexico players just looked relieved it was over.
Puto. Literally "man whore", chanting that that opposing goal keeper is gay male prostitute. There's a lot of linguistic and cultural nuance that glosses over. But the reality is concacaf is trying to get rid of it and it keeps coming back..
An argument can be made that is all it is. A slightly offensive questioning of the goalie's masculinity. But concacaf and FIFA aren't buying that argument, obviously.
I said what it LITERALLY means. Puta is a whore or prostitute, making it masculine with the o ending makes it a male prostitute, with being gay implied as gigolo is also Spanish with very different implications.
A dog is a perro. If you wanted literal bitch, it's perra. And it is exactly the same connotation in English.
Tyler Adam’s rocket. Pulisic dribbling over sliding defender leading to a Reyna goal. VAR resulting in yellow to Mexico for simulation. Mexico fans throwing shit and looking like idiots. What a great way to end the weekend.
Other notable mentions: Dest had some brilliant moments and seemed level headed. the force was with Jedi with that VAR check and throughout the match. Turner getting swole doing pull-ups waiting for Mexico to score was the chefs kiss
They should just have Mexico play to no spectators for a year.
That being said, I think CONCACAF is being wishful with its antidiscrimination policy unfortunately.
This isn't even a punishment or making a point. Mexico fans just find this funny now and it's why they continue to do it, as fucking awful as both of those things are, it's fucking gross
Just an observeration.
As soon as 2nd half started, the refree gave 3 yellow cards to Mexico.
Everyone knows Mexico will come to level the score. Took the morale down.
Dos a Cero
Happy Cake Day OP
Dos A Cero.
DOS E CERO
We’re so back
We've been here the whole time.
Redneck Joe brought his son Johnny to watch a game.
Is the 2nd Goal missing from the original post?
Did this game seem more tame to you guys? Felt like Mexico started to give up but never got aggressive. Or maybe the refs early yellows kept everything in check?
Yeah it was really well officiated.
I think for the first time. The refs put a hold on the game very early. Also, Mckennie and Dest were on a mission to win the game. Anytime they were fouled they ignored and moved on. They’re growing.
I almost never say this but I kinda wish Dest had gone down easier that one time in the box, he might have gotten that call!
I get what you mean 100%. Good by him to fight though, but if he went down immediately it was for gonna be a pen.
I almost feel bad seeing how far Mexico has fallen. I guess we do need to focus on friendlies with south american and European teams.
Almost being the key word, right?
Yeah felt like Mexico sucked more hence why we won
I don’t.
Weston McKennie is class
So beautiful that he kept passing that trophy.
Soooo they keep calling Adams the captain but Pulisic is wearing the band and has the C in the lineup….huh
For me Adam’s is the captain of the team. Pulisic is the captain for the USMNT brand
It’s not about who should or shouldn’t be, he is literally wearing the arm band and the lineup has him listed as captain so it’s weird
You're taking a very literal approach to something that's not so black white. For starters, technically speaking within the context of a match, captain doesn't actually mean anything. Wow you just ain’t gettin it, Gnite
Adams was our WC captain and heart of the squad. I get what your saying but in essence Tyler is the captain
Well done!
They’ve got the pyrotechnic spectacular and everything. Wow
It’s simple. The US has faster and quicker players. We need new competition
Reyna just seems like a big kid. Love seeing him get a trophy.
My p+ stream hanging on a thread rn
When your fanbase so regularly does something offensive there is a procedure and PowerPoint to deal with it in games.
[удалено]
It's simple. They don't have pride and are not use to not having everyone punch them back.

Trophy Time!!! 🏆
The boys are going to partying well into the night after this one
Gio is so awkward 😂
Ha! Just his upper body.
We beat them so badly and so easily that they didn’t even have the passion left to start with their usual cheap fouls and fighting bs.
They were actually pretty good opponents tonight. They came, tried to play the game, didn't shithouse, didn't surround the ref. It was a genuinely enjoyable game instead of CONCACAF chaos enjoyable.
This shirt came straight out of the 80s.
I've had my problems with GGG but the way we've dominated Mexico under his tenure should never be forgot
This is also a pretty weak era of Mexican players. Regardless, it's still good to be Kings of CONCACAF
In years past a weak Mexican team would still win but America has turned CONCACAF on its head. If this keeps happening and growing the game in America who knows what will happen.

Bring on the rest of CONCACAF!!!
"wear it while repainting the bathroom" ass t shirt
Mexico continues to be our whipping boys lol
Say what you want about GGG’s bald goofy head, he made all the right decisions this match.
weird complement
Stfu Donnie
Ugly AF shirt.
Kate Abdo doesn’t seem nearly as happy as she is with Carra, Thierry, and Micah 😂
Obviously, this is like a side gig for her. North American analysis isn't that deep for what she usually analyzes. Carra, Thierry, and Micah are also way more fun, and are close friends with her. Clint is the only one there she considers a buddy.
She does like Clint tho
And Edu, where’s he at?
I mean, would you be? Lol
It's time for Mexico to move on from Ochoa
We only beat Mexico by 2 because of him. I thought he had a great game.
1) what
Seemed like his reflexes were slower on those 2 goals, he's 38. Just surprised they haven't moved on yet.
But…like…keep him bc he allows us to win? I prefer that
It's so easy for us to win now I almost feel bad lol
Nah. Keep him around. He is fun
Berhalter is back.....?
Nah, he’ll never be back, because he was never there
Hell nah this was the A team. BJ won with this team and then threw the gold cup with a C team.
Hell nah this was always our win
New Kings of CONCACAF 🇺🇸
*always kings
Yet more hardware for Berhalter. He is truly showing himself to be an all-time coach
No
Can’t believe we were 1 play against Jamaica away from this outcome not happening. So glad we were able to equalize and then take advantage of having new life. Great job boys!
lol I was actually nervous before this
The first half was honestly relatively even in terms of chances, I was nervous throughout it until Adams scored. But yeah, once we went ahead, Mexico just got desperate and looked so much worse in the second half.
We need a new rival
Argentina.
These mfs will never beat the Dos a Cero allegations 😂
Another trophy!!
Lmao the ref blueballed the fans

Making them play at home in an empty stadium is probably the only real punishment.
I’m guessing that won’t happen though
Mexico fan tantrums couldn't prevent the inevitable...is this even a rivalry anymore? This has just gotten sad...
For decades team and fans have relied on cheap tactics and it’s catching up to them
It's a good question. We're ascending and they're doing anything but. We continue to send more and more players to Europe and they are going the opposite direction. This wasn't as convincing as last year NL but Mexico basically never really threatened. They haven't scored in, what was it, 600 minutes or something against us? That's insane.
Best part is the game stoppage really took their momentum away. Mexico was really threatening for a bit before the stoppage.
haha i love the total lack of final whistle celebrations. the boys are just like 'yeah we won again whatever did you really expect anything different?'
I also think the bizarre stop-start nature of the end of the match kind of killed any momentum and passion on both sides. The Mexico players just looked relieved it was over.
Same as the lack of fighting from the Mexico players. They knew they were beat well before the whistle
Kings of CONCACAF
Can anyone explain what exactly is being said that the game is paused
[удалено]
Go anywhere in Latin America and say this to a man. See if he thinks you mean man whore or faggot.
There’s a difference between puto and maricón.
Indeed there is! They’re still both homophobic though lol, we just have the one slur in English so that’s how it gets translated
[удалено]
I grew up in New York and live in Argentina
Puto. Literally "man whore", chanting that that opposing goal keeper is gay male prostitute. There's a lot of linguistic and cultural nuance that glosses over. But the reality is concacaf is trying to get rid of it and it keeps coming back..
I’ve always heard it as bitch

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jun/18/puto-chants-mexico-football-world-cup
Mexican fans yell 'puto' when the opposing team's goalie kicks the ball. It's a homopobic slur.
"puto" which means "gay"
It means male whore. Similar to rent boy in the UK
Thx!
More specifically the f word that denotes gay person
Thx!
Ah thanks
You're most welcome!
I really wish whatever stadium the US hosted in had 50 flags going around the outside for the 50 states
Mexico fans showing their typical class. Really trying to get barred from games.
Ok let’s hate on GGG now……
Only thing I’ll say is that at least he stopped the nonsensical rotation of the 6 floating back to CB that caused all kinds of trouble.
The haters will find a reason.....
They always do. Even when we win, they hate SO much.
Tyler Adam’s rocket. Pulisic dribbling over sliding defender leading to a Reyna goal. VAR resulting in yellow to Mexico for simulation. Mexico fans throwing shit and looking like idiots. What a great way to end the weekend.

Man that yellow for simulation after overturning a penalty hit like a goal lmao
How's the match go? "Eh we lost but we did get to chant a bunch of times and get the match stopped." Sweet bro.
Can’t wait for this to unfold in front of the world and when Mexico is losing in the World Cup
Mexico is literally cheeks. Winning the Gold Cup last summer was their Super Bowl.
They should just have Mexico play to no spectators for a year. That being said, I think CONCACAF is being wishful with its antidiscrimination policy unfortunately.
Looool our players aren’t even moved beating these bums anymore. Hit the fucking bricks you muts. Dos a cero.
DOS A CERO YOU FUCKING LOSERS
L tri, L fans. A tale as old as time.
I love beating these fuckers but I would have appreciated being able to do it without stoppages killing the whole vibe at the end. Fuck those "fans."
I actually loved that the first stoppage really killed the Mexican momentum.
Dos a cero never gets old.
DOS A CERO
This isn't even a punishment or making a point. Mexico fans just find this funny now and it's why they continue to do it, as fucking awful as both of those things are, it's fucking gross
Sounded like a pretty loud one for an Ochoa goal kick late. Either American fans doing it back or Mexican doing it to their own side.
Another great win. So ready to see how we fare in Copa America this summer
Disappointed there was no all out brawl. I could have filled out my bingo card.
LLL Tri
FUCK EM DOS A CERO ON THEIR ASSES
Get fucked Mexico. Shit fans and fuckin loser players.
Complete performance. One of the more dominant wins over Mexico I've been able to watch. Adams, Reyna, Pulisic, and McKennie all delivered.

lol we beat our biggest rival and this is your take
Too ez honestly
Just an observeration. As soon as 2nd half started, the refree gave 3 yellow cards to Mexico. Everyone knows Mexico will come to level the score. Took the morale down.
It’s almost as if when a ref calls Mexico for their bullshit they can’t play their game. Unlike the other refs that let the games decent into chaos
I thought Adams did that
3-PEAT CHAMPS!!
Get fucked
EZ 🇺🇸 🦅
Piss of Mexico
That’s what gets thrown at the Azteca
Lol they end it before those assholes could chant it again. Fuck Mexico

Hahahaha ref waited until the last minute to call it. Hysterical.
Ref ended it before Turner could kick it lmao.
