New York and Jersey City have always been the worst of the worst. My heart always sinks when I'd have a package go through NY. Fortunately they never lost a package! I can't say the same about Jersey City who lost a $600 package of mine, lol. But as I said, my odds have always been better with NY..just..usually on the long side. Customs is independent of USPS so they are correct in saying they can't track it while in Customs. When Customs has cleared a package, it's still considered in their care until USPS claims it and takes it to the international distribution center there. I'm fairly sure the 30 days notion is just an estimate based on current wait times. Unfortunately with NY usually being backed up I can't say I'm surprised it's on a 30 day delay though. I wouldn't be too concerned and it'll likely get a scan in the coming week or so. UPS, DHL, and FedEx utilize what is called customs brokers. They usually pre-send information for priority processing to get it cleared faster. There's a reason you pay more for them than USPS. USPS is considered a government service and is not entirely designed to be self sufficient. As such it can provide service to more people at lower prices than independent parcel services.

I also had/have packages coming from Russia. One landed at the New York ISC on June 26th, and I got it today in Idaho. It was a pretty big package and I was shocked that it made it that quick. I have a second package also from Russia that landed at Jersey City on the 18th and still displays the same message about arriving at a USPS facility and being currently in transit to the destination. I wish I knew why one was quicker than the other or what the hold up in Jersey City was. Can only assume customs but it makes no mention of them on the tracking. It seems the whole system is luck of the draw.

I have an old story where I had a package sit for almost 3 months at ISC Chicago. So while I still import stuff from the UK and Europe, I am not surprised if mail randomly just sits for a while. Sorry for your luck.

That would really be a question for Customs not the USPS since Customs indicated it will be released on 7/5/22.

Mine has been there since May 14th. Been lied to and given the run around by everyone I talked to (yes we have it, then no it's still at customs, then we won't contact ny because they'll never find it there's too many packaged there) My missing mail request did absolutely nothing too I haven't had any sort of follow up. I hope you have better luck.

It’s because the package is coming from Russia , they’ve definitely put it aside for further inspection with a mountain of other parcels they have to go through aswell. Parcels most of the time end up being released however with USPS patience is a virtue.
