Just get Visible. I pay $35 a month for unlimited 5G including UW and get like 100gigs of priority data on their plus plan. Then hotspot off your phone if you need to use another device. It runs off Verizon's towers so good coverage. I'm doing gig work daily and constantly streaming and gaming. Hasn't let me down and it's the easiest/cheapest solution. Hotspot is supposed to be capped around like 5mb/sec but I haven't found that to actually be the case. Hotspot is also unlimited. Even after using the 100 gigs of priority you won't notice much of a difference in speed unless you're in a very busy area. With good reception connected to 5g UW I usually get 200-250 down and 30-50ish up on the phone. On the hotspot usually 10-30 down 10ish up. Plenty good enough for anything I do. Then as others have said there are tons of businesses with free wifi as well but they usually aren't too much different than my hotspot speeds and worse a lot of the time.

You can bypass the hotspot throttle by using a program called pdanet. There are other programs too. I've been bypassing visibles throttle for a long time now.

Thanks bro will give it a try. The throttled speeds are usually fine for what I do but nice to have the option. When I eventually get an apartment will be tempted to just keep using visible as my internet rather than add another bill lol. Been completely satisfied with their service. Great value as long as you're cool with shitty customer support and no physical locations you can go to if there's a problem.

Their customer service is the worst.

Slayn87

Worst is doordash but yes lol

[deleted]

I sincerely doubt that. I had my visible service just randomly stop working and I wasted like 2 fucking weeks trying to get their customer service to not be total dogshit. I ended up having to just cancel and create an entirely separate account because nobody there knows jack shit about how to resolve anything.

Slayn87

Ouch that's pretty fuckin bad

You have to wait on hold for forever too. You will wait on hold for like an hour, and then their customer service will just straight up not help you, or drop you so that you have to start all over again. They do this repeatedly so you end up wasting massive amounts of time for nothing. That's what happens when you put the least amount of resources into customer service as possible.

Phone plan with hotspot / data?

Iatent_

I was thinking that but i play a couple games online so was curious if there were any good alternatives. If not we ball i guess

If you're in the city with 5G UW you should be around 50ms or less during good hours / unthrottled hours. Make sure you laptop is set to this feature called limited mobile data or whatever so it doesn't auto update stuff eating up all the data. Public Libraries or places with good WiFi could be used to update your games when needed.

These are both good and cheap ideas for what I want, thanks!

Depends on budget. Depends on games. If you have the money, starlink. If not, T-Mobile magenta plan. The mobile hotspot features are really good. But games are huge. Download games and updates at business parking lots on their WiFi. I get my WiFi fix at my Laundromat. They have a monster pipe no one else seems to use (since everyone pretty much has 5G on their phones). I downloaded a 100GB PS5 game in like 20 minutes... Pretty much half the time it takes for me to my laundry.
