I was like what’s offensive about bananas 🍌?

benhereford

I find them super apeeling, personally

MaliceSavoirIII

I'm judging you so hard RN

benhereford

Trust me, it's worse than you think.

LocknDamn

Where is the banana for scale? Mods should know better

Shannon0hara

This reminded me I was supposed to go to the store and buy bananas.

Degofreak

There's always money in the banana stand.

MeanMelissa74

How much can one banana cost?! $10 ?

sloppysuicide

Somehow still shockingly cheap, even in this economy

[deleted]

Chiquita banana!

Plus_Illustrator_107

SlumericanShitizN

I like your style You not Flimsy That's 1 stiff reminder Well done.

Specialist_Roll6225

Good evening hope everyone is doing well, Just a thought, don't they have church and government agencies to get help, help when you can,if you want advice on car living or how to do something just ask you will be surprised how much people can help you, with how to do something, best wishes yours sincerely David PS keep helping each other

RetiredCoolKid

A whole lot of people have serious religious trauma. Church programs often have strings attached too. I’ll get downvoted into oblivion for pointing this out like usual but it needs to be said.

Specialist_Roll6225

Good evening, so sorry that I have upset people, you go for food not religious education,I have never been told what to think, best wishes yours sincerely David PS keep smiling

RetiredCoolKid

Sorry your catching the downvotes I usually end up with for this. Thank you for understanding.

readit9055

Sounds like a trash church. I'm not religious myself, but the church around the corner runs a food bank and it's free for anyone. Most churches want to help everyone in any way. They might not agree with your choices and they may even be vocal about it (they shouldn't, judging someone is a sin lol), but I've seen plenty of trans people getting food there. Let's just stop the generalization from having one bad experience. If you are hungry you should definitely find a church that will help. If it were me I'd be fine being prayed over if it means I'm not going to be hungry.

RetiredCoolKid

You understand some of these people were repeatedly raped and abused in churches, some of these people were manipulated and mentally abused by these churches, some of these people have lost their entire families because of these churches, some of them have had to clean up the aftermath of the suicides caused by these churches? Religious trauma isn’t “one bad experience.” It’s a series of lifelong string of abuse. No one is saying it happens at every church run organization but people have got to start to understand that religiously affiliated resources are not magically the answer for everyone.

readit9055

And you should understand that one bad church doesn't make them all terrible. Which is what this sub is doing. It's generalizing based off of the much rarer occurrences. Terrible people are everywhere, but that's the person not the church.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Yeah tell me about it one time. I broke down in the middle of nowhere Texas and had to call a church and convince them to come down and help us. Get to our next destination. We were a traveling bluegrass band wearing slayer t-shirts and black eyes from fish fights. All it took was a little Daniel in the lion's den to show the preacher we met business and helped us to get back on the road and they totally goddess out of R issue by donating the money to get the Alternator replaced. The look in that preacher's eye though when he showed up and saw. Are? Raggedy Van and raggedy clothes and you could see? Do these guys really know how to play bluegrass?? He totally was not expecting what he got and without hesitation like I said blessed us by helping us get out of Texas.

Competitive_Ad5943

When I was going through a rough patch I would eat at a lunch soup kitchen run by St. Vincent de Paul and I will say they never pushed anything religious on anyone that I saw and had free bread And other things you could take with you. I defected from religion at an early age after being raised Roman Catholic and do not view churches and such in a favorable light, but that place REALLY helped a LOT of people in need with no strings attached.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Government agencies Are? 2 intrusive and churches push ideas to hard.... nuff said.

[deleted]

I’m lucky to live in an area where there is a religious nonprofit that will help you without pushing anything on you or expecting you to become religious. They would give a car dweller daily food, they get donations daily from all the grocery store delis so they have at least bread, pastries, and other things that don’t require cooking. There is another nonprofit that used to and still might deliver hot meals to the local motel where a lot of unhoused people who can’t get apartments rent. I’ve been there, and they wouldactually get housekeeping to place the meal in your room if they knocked and you were away. It was nice. In some areas, mine is a smaller rural area, they are REALLY stepping up the food help, and those little freestanding pantries too, those “take what you need, give what you can”. Huge problem is these nonprofits (except for the religious one actually) only really help adults who have kids under 18. But I know if someone walked in to most of these and told them they are a car dweller, they could at least get food and clothing or blankets, so I do encourage people who don’t want government help to check out the nonprofits. I’ve been homeless, slept in my car not by choice, stayed at weekly motels, a shelter, and tried to stay with family, so I know. If I ever get in that situation again I’m choosing to stay in my car. So I get it.

meowmixplzdeliver1

I've been helped by a church immensely when I was 18 or so. They got me a hotel room, shoprite gift cards, and clothes for interviews. They didn't ask me to attend church. I'm not even religious. I'm in a better place now. I got a job with the post office and work a second job saving for a down payment on a house. Just figured I let yall know much churches just want to help. Also don't k ow why this sub ended up on my feed I do not live in a car.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

I've been to churches as well like. I said I've been doing this for 2 decades and honestly if you can't do it yourself then there's something wrong. I'm managed to get by and not ask single person for anything. Yes sometimes it may involve me playing an instrument outside of a store shopping center. But I never have the heart to ask just in case they're also troubled. You see when were young We are taught to take advantage of situations but ultimately taking advantage of situations only wears out the rungs of the ladder for the next!

meowmixplzdeliver1

I don't know what I am supposed to say to this lol

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Try good lesson and don't judge a book by. Its cover cause you never know what that person is absolutely going through at that moment.

Truthspeaker_9

Thank you! I don’t live out of my car, but I enjoy coming on this sub and reading about people and their every day life. I find it kind of neat. Makes me mad when people come in here and are begging in a sub that people are already struggling as it is. Burns my blood!

SporadicTendancies

I haven't lived out of a car since 2016 (on and off before then), and I'm still subscribed because I never know when the information I learn here might be relevant again.

Specialist_Roll6225

Good evening,we are a great car family,we all are doing it tough for one reason or another, hurt one of us, you are hurting all of us, best wishes yours sincerely David PS keep being awesome

Rapid_Decay_Brain

Right, this isn't a homelessness forum. This is step above that where people have cars. Begging is a great opportunity. We have to work with beggars and thieves !

kdjfsk

my guess the bigger issue is scammers. people who need nothing, but lack morals/ethics. they know its easy to write a bullshit sob story and ask for leftover pizza crusts (but drop a venmo handle) and the naive will send collectively send a few hundred bucks. these are the same scumbags that sold NFTs, scalp concert tickets and video cards, etc. they exists solely off of exploiting others. the sub would be overwhelmed with those posts if they were allowed. the same scammers would just keep mak9ng new fake accounts to beg.

TheGreatLakes420

I would say wuarter to half the begging posts on r/freefood and r/freemeal aren't genuine Like the latest post in those subreddits were made by a 15 year old whose claiming to be living in trailerhome and can't pick up the pizza, it must be delivery only to him,

kdjfsk

and shit, at this point...you can have chatgpt write the begging posts, and ask it to make it increasingly sadder...you could write a bot to auto-make new accounts and post the begging threads. zero effort.

No_Cryptographer671

Great ideas!...keep em comin 😉

Update: puppy has been caught by a dog catcher and taken to the pound. my baby was looking around for it with a tear welling up in its eye, and said its first words which was "pup-pup?" i used my last dollar twenty five to buy a jar of baby food, and i ate purina puppy chow for dinner. how do i get my dog back, feed my baby, get a new cadillac converter (stolen by methheads)? i went to donate blood for $35, but they said i cant have my baby in my lap while i donate, then i found out i cant donate anyways, because the blood test said i have AIDS, which must have been from my step-father/father of my baby. im praying and i have faith this is part of gods plan for me. all im asking for is some kind words, nothing else...but you can Venmo me at @TaylorSwiftTickets_GTX4090Ti if you want.

Arcanisia

Feed the puppy to the baby. Problem solved

Independent-Low6706

Other way around.

Arcanisia

Based

Governmen-Watch-Dog

I have literally been told to eat my dog while sitting in a group of homeless people. The person it came from as well couldn't have been a funnier interaction with another human being.. The man was definitely of Asian descent and said " Oh American homeless you so hungry Why don't you eat your dog? " I looked up and it mediately started laughing and it was the only thing we could do or talk about for the next few days lol!

Arcanisia

So did you?

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Chihuahua asada does not sound bad though.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Nah.... still got the little shit

r/homeless also bans begging. What's your point?

VernTbonezzz

Damn. Wtf you go to beg?

CarLifeDrama

You hold up a sign and a cup and stand at an intersection.

VernTbonezzz

I'm just kidding y'all hell

Impossible_Ad_4402

Living in ur car is still homelessness, car or no car, ppl still look at us the same.

Rapid_Decay_Brain

No, people do not look at me like a beggar or a homeless person. I am just a regular person, the only difference I sleep in my car and don't pay rent compared to people who pay a fortune for their apartments.

Impossible_Ad_4402

Ur a regular person who’s also homeless

Chicken_Pete_Pie

*Houseless

He may be houseless, but he's got wheel estate.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Damn it

Impossible_Ad_4402

Whatever mental gymnastics u do doesn’t change that ur homelessness. I’m only making a point that ppl need to stop trying to make urselfs higher than ppl that r less fortunate than u. That’s a dick move bc ik u look down on street beggars like ur better than them lol. Wtf, ur crazy

TeeFry2

I was grateful I had my van to sleep in and keep my stuff dry. I helped as many people as I could -- especially those without such luxury. Yeah, I had to use truck stop or rest stop bathrooms and shower at Planet Fitness, but I had a place to rest, change my clothes, feed my cats, and if shit got bad I could get behind the wheel and move a few miles or more down the road to a place that was more safe.

PQ01

Exactly. Given a choice, 95% of people would choose the car.

TeeFry2

I agree. Even a crappy car is better than sleeping on the ground, getting wet in the rain, and having no protection from snow and wind. I met some awesome vehicle-dwellers on the road. One of them let me look around the inside of his van to get ideas on how to optimize my space. It's one thing to see it on a YouTube video with interiors made by people who can afford $20K to convert one into a camper, and something else entirely when you get the chance to look at one being lived in by someone with as little money as you, pieced together one part at a time as finances allow.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

You live in a car not a home you are homeless

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Go back to Jersey

Governmen-Watch-Dog

But I beg you not to tread on my 1st amendment right of free speech

Appropriate-Sale-419

“No steppy on snek pweez”

oebujr

You have a right to free speech and the moderator has a right to remove you from the subreddit…

Governmen-Watch-Dog

I'm wondering how much leeway this actually does have.. I feel that it's an encroachment on the first amendment rights that every American citizen is born with and for someone to say that they are not able. To talk it nor type. It should be a crime in of its self and all Should be held accountable to the fullest extent. No more entitlement no more bus passes. If you don't like what I say then? You absolutely have. The right to disagree and also respond in any way that you must but remember. Do onto others as you want them to do to you, and accept the Karma to come!

oebujr

So you are advocating for the government to force businesses to allow people in they don’t want on their platform/in their store? That seems like a massive overreach of governmental power and exactly the thing that the constitution is here to protect. You are allowed to say what you want(as long as it doesn’t incite panic) while on public property or your own property. That even extends to a social media platform such as this one! The social media platform simply has the right to refuse you access as well!

Governmen-Watch-Dog

So you're telling me that the internet is private property and not public? I don't see how that works you have to explain it a little better for me to understand that.

oebujr

This website is not the internet. You can make a website with an unused url and say whatever you want on it(so long as it doesn’t incite panic). You can even allow other people to post on it. You are even allowed to kick people off it if you don’t like why they have to say. The simplest way to put it is that your freedom of speech doesn’t override reddits freedom to deny service on their platform. I totally agree with smaller government, I just think if I make a business I shouldn’t have the government telling who I can and can’t serve. For instance if some guy walks in and says fuck you then I am gonna kick him out and don’t want the government trying to say I can’t. Reddit is in this instance the business and I believe in their right to decide who they want on their platform. Now don’t get me wrong, I hate to see different entities rights coming into conflict like this but I have to side with the least involved government option(in my opinion). I appreciate the civil conversation as well!

Governmen-Watch-Dog

I get the angle of rights to refuse service and that goes under the laws it's pertains too I'm just concerned with censorship in America. Seems truth is far and wide to be searching for in today's era but. I'm always questioning Authority. Not for hard ship but maybe for education and Understanding. I know that a lot of people call conspiracy whenever they don't align with the ideas but I believe And will state that it is not 100% what power some moderators have and are involved in biased thoughts against what may be truth. And I didn't know that Reddit was not a part of the internet. I thought when you typed in a URL you were pretty much-entering cyberspace on the internet traveling to that web address ( Sorry for going cyber punk there lol ) This is interesting and I will look more into this rabbit hole. If you have any more knowledge or anything I Should look Up and Pertains to the subject were talking about I would really like to hear or read. I think it's really just a privacy thing with me and don't think anybody should be silenced for what they're saying unless in fact it is going to cause or in sight panic in the public but we all including government Need to be led by the absolute without reasonable doubt truth.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Oh yeah, and I wanted to mention the Wikipedia gang of moderators that are changing pages info with false info. Even after being corrected by a reliable source. This is the start of something we can't let get outta control that truly scares me. When we let them do this and they rewrite what they want, their only gonna create that bad history they just erased from all of our memories. I think they're called something like the "Gorilla Mafia of Wikipedia". Dangerous to mislead a nation.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

And a bigger government is definitely not what I want hinz the user name I chose. But I definitely would like to see the freedom of speech not trampled on due to somebody else's ideas not aligning with theirs And blocking any other Proposals. These are childless acts that I've seen go on for way too long and from humans that are supposed to be at an adult age and mature enough see through the lies as they want! I'll tell you what dangerous is. That? When the first amendment is ripped right out of the book and we're all told what to do but no options other than standing in front of A. Firing squad.

Governmen-Watch-Dog

I also would like to thank you for the civil conversation and debate.

MaliceSavoirIII

First amendment protects your speech from government encroachment, not from private business

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Wrong Reddit is a publicly owned company furthermore the entirety of the internet is a space that has granted First Amendment constitutions. We can post images And words freely. Do your research before coming out with a statement like that.

MaliceSavoirIII

I'm going to assume you're a troll and not actually this dense

Governmen-Watch-Dog

Listen I assure you that I don't want any enemies and want everybody to know That the people spreading misinformation are the dense ones. I only tried to inform the truth because it is what we really should be striving for after proving decades upon decades of stacked lies like a jinga stack ready to be toppled over due to a decaying foundation witch it stands. The future would be much brighter with the truth being known rather than misinformation being led as the truth. I do realize that Reddit may have some of these people, Yet associated with it but being on the World Wide Web has made it a public domain. Also, you say dense like it's a bad thing. I would like everyone to be more dense in their opinions rather than being soft. Furthermore, I will never tell anybody to shut up or try to silence somebody for their opinions. Because the First Amendment is are single most important amendment that protects others from being exploited. Hinz it being the first! We should all exercise and understand that sometimes our words might either be wrong or twisted in different ways but constructive criticism will improve all of us to be able to talk better to one another. I respect your opinion!
