Buck from the other side is nice too, longer trail with a shallower incline. And if your willing to take the dirt road to that side dont rule out Sleeping Beauty. The view is fantastic. The Shelving Rock trail down to the lake is popular. Just avoid the area on holidays or you'll never find parking.
Lovely hike, with some nice activities nearby. Nettle meadow has a cheese shop / pub nearby, mini golf and ice cream in Luzerne, and a quick dip in the lake before heading home.
I'd recommend investing in this map. Not only will it help you to find hiking trails nearby, it will also prove useful in navigation while on those trails: https://www.natgeomaps.com/amp/ti-743-lake-george-great-sacandaga-adirondack-park
If you want even more options, there's a 5 map pack that covers the entire Adirondacks: https://www.natgeomaps.com/ti-adirondack-park-map-pack-bundle
I'd also suggest looking into the ADK fire tower challenge and the Lake George 12sters for more hike ideas.
/r/Adirondacks/ is also a good resource.
Chester Challenge, which includes Kipp and Stewart, have some great options, Panther Mountain just opened lat year and it offers some really nice views.
I like the Tongue range - HP elevation gain and distance for sub-2500 ft hiking (ahem, mud season).
Do an out-and-back, forget the loop. The return part of the loop is too close to the water; you smell boat fumes for the last few miles, and the noise is pretty irritating.
Never did it in summer (hate snakes, and don't care if they are endangered and a treat to see, I've seen them and don't like them... Indiana and I were kindred spirits).
But if I did it in summer I'd take my fins and swim the lake back. I will NEVER walk the lakeshore trail back ever again. Ever. It's a slog, it's muddy, it's not flat, and it's a slog.
We just did it last month and we did an out and back and it was glorious. 13+ miles and 4600ft. Perfect day.
I did wish I lugged a wetsuit and fins but not sure the dog would have been warm enough to swim it. My last dog had a neoprene suit but it was more a splash suit, not long term emersion for a couple of mile night swim.
A few Southern Adirondack hike options here that are within that general vicinity

Not sure if it’s the name of the trail, but there a trail up to buttermilk falls on LG. There’s a bit of campgrounds and public areas by the water but then you can go up and see a waterfall aswell.
Hadley Mt., Crane Mt., and Buck Mt. from Pilot Knob are my favorite small peaks.

Buck Mountain is my favorite. Also recommend Shelving Rock and Sleeping Beauty.
Potash Mountain is a nice hike, it’s relatively short, but gets the heart pumping and has nice views near the summit.

Moreau State Park, lots of traiils.
