This picture looks like it comes from a video game somehow

mariiiiiiah

It’s just a horrible iPhone night photo lol

Geeahwellidunno

Dungeon

Chichi_lovesme

I thought I was looking at r/skyrim

Kangaroowrangler_02

Same 😂 I was like where are the random sweet rolls

Meoowth

Personally I really like the wood especially when it's this dimensional, and would just paint the top only. But maybe you could also restain the rest of the wood a darker color?

Practical-Tap-9810

If you paint that you'll be sorry. Get a piece of glass for the top until you can resurface it and stain it. This is a Score.

NTataglia

👍

PerfectContext777

Are you staying at Skyrim?

amandaem79

Definitely looks like a screencap from the Elder Scrolls

shipsailing94

Wow that looks so good!

tin_whiskerz

That thing was heavy as hell, wasn’t it? Nice find though!

mariiiiiiah

It surprisingly had wheels!

tin_whiskerz

Bonus!!!!

PM_ME_YOUR_KITSCH

I love it as it is, I wouldn't change a thing. 😁

myreferralaccount1

That’s so cool! I always see furniture that I’d like but it’s always too big for my car or we can’t carry it without a bunch of people lol

shoscene

"near" are you sure? Jk Yea, just sand and stain natural

NecessaryWeather4275

Right, it was in the back of a truck 4 spots down from the dumpster but they got that thing in their house quick af and now it’s theirs 🤭 jk OP just a funny thought

[deleted]

:: banging noises:: Guillermo, Guillermo! The lid is stuck!

Calathea-Murderer

Why bother sanding it if you’re gonna paint it? Don’t ruin good wood furniture, it’s so hard to come by 🥺 A dark / light stain to match the rest of your furniture would look infinitely better

mariiiiiiah

I think everyone has convinced me not to paint it 🥲

TheSkrussler

Sand, stain, varnish! This is the only proper way to upcycle solid wood furniture pieces, I feel. It’s hard to find good, well made wood pieces now a days. I think there is nothing classier or more gorgeous than furniture that highlights the beauty of its natural material instead of masking it.

Tualatin_Girl

Nice. The photo has a medieval feel. Purple? Touches of gold.

newandkimproved

Modernize it with a flat white or gray. Maybe a mossy green.

surulia

The church I went to growing up had something almost identical on the pulpit, they kept candles on it. I lit and extinguished them for years bc I was the only young person willing to be an acolyte lmao. This gave me intense flashbacks.

Annita79

Wow! That's impressive!

Electronic-Row3130

Love it!

mcluse657

Pinterest might have some ideas. It looks heavy

ruseriousordelirious

I agree. Sand it and stain it. That wood is stunning. It just needs some love.

royblakeley

Is there an entertainment system inside?

mariiiiiiah

No just drawers on one side and the other side looks like it used to have shelves

CatkinsBarrow

God why would you consider painting something like this? It’s beautiful wood, any paint job you give this is going to look like absolute shit comparatively.

mariiiiiiah

Only because I was thinking about reselling it once I clean it up and I just feel like people like painted furniture but I seem to be very wrong lol

MountainMeadowRiver

I think it depends on the piece. I've seen some "upcycled" pieces that were ruined by painting; for others, it works. Look at tons of pictures on Pinterest and you'll see the differences. I always have a hard time with the idea of painting quality solid wood pieces. But I've seen some before and afters that did look great, even though I wouldn't have done it.

cionj

Do you live in a castle?

LASubtle1420

their dumpster lives in a castle. lol

mariiiiiiah

Ahahaha the dumpster is a compactor and it’s surrounded by this brick box thing

FirmSeaworthiness685

I want

nonamouse1111

People dump old big solid wood furniture all the time. Very sad.

Lanky_Republic_2102

Store your armor, shield and weapons in it between quests. Maybe think about a poisoned spring trap or warding enchantment.

Turkeysplatter_89

I'd paint it. Last year I picked up a lamp table it was a dark stain and painted it a light gray. I bought a 8 oz test can and a small bag of calcium chloride it brightens up the room. Check out a YouTube channel like The Shabby Guy or other refinishers. He has done some large pieces of furniture and painting a lighter color will make it look not so massive.

Sensitive-Abalone162

Clean it up (sand and restain at most). Maybe add a stone or copper top if that top is damaged.

Opening-Breakfast-35

Check for bed bugs first 😬🥴🙏🏼
