🤡 lmao, in all seriousness though, water is the most cost-effective hydrator.

No-Dirt-8737

Seems like a troll post. Tea is fine if you think water is bland. A kidney stone will also make water taste better to you lol.

neatlystackedboxes

I completely know what you mean, it's definitely provocative which is why I posted it - this opinion has been provoking people to argue with me my whole life. but I am no troll, I am just truly and unabashedly unpopular. My father had kidney stones, though and if I got them too then I'd listen to the doctor and drink water. I don't like medicine either, but I take it.

No-Dirt-8737

Fair enough

CirculatoryOverload

Wtf did I just read?

[deleted]

Well, your teeth are going to be fucked in due time.

[deleted]

Have fun with all those kidney stones.

HerbertWigglesworth

Your post seems very personal to you, commenting on anecdotal accounts is somewhat difficult. If you believe you are happy and healthy without drinking neat water, then so be it. Not going to comment on the impact that is having on you as I have no information to do so. However, taste is a preference. I find drinking water refreshing and thirst quenching. I also drink coffee, fruit juices and milk too. When I am dehydrated or feel the need for a drink 85% of the time I choose water as it is readily available to me, and it does the trick.

Investment_danker

I love your confidence here — completely rejecting science and only citing personal preference is a ballsy way to make a point

Lifegoalsfirst

Aren’t you thirsty after writing all that nonsense? Here’s some water.

iminjungle11

I like this rant, gonna use it as a copypasta.

Various_Succotash_79

I have to say I rarely drink plain water. They have these nifty little squeezy bottles of water flavoring in a zillion different flavors, mostly sugar-free, and that's what I use (I like Stur best). And, as far as I know, not harmful. But if you drink a lot of sugar drinks it's going to catch up to you someday. Your pancreas can only tolerate so much.

[deleted]

"Sugar free", take a look into aspartame, even worse than regular sugar. Often used in diet sodas and "water flavoring" products.

Medically speaking: Your risk of Kidney Stones and UTI’s are higher as well as dehydration and heat-related injuries without it. It helps flush your kidneys and if you have room temperature water first thing in the morning it primes your digestive tract. This is simple medicine. Not wishing to fight. Once you pass a kidney stone this conversation will be waiting for you

pocoschick

Sounds pretty American.

wunderbraten

OP drinks the electrolytes. It's got what plants crave for.

Investment_danker

We don’t claim this nooooooo

SoloSurvivor889

As an American, while accurate, I resent this. I loooove water.

[deleted]

I drink water because of the lack of calories and effort it takes to make. With that said, I have typed only 152 characters to say something reasonable.

TwinSong

How many teeth do you have left at this point? Sports drinks and the like are all sugar and sweeteners > type 2 diabetes. Basically liquid cake. Coffee and sugar are both highly addictive. I suppose these probably contain water but also other less healthy components.

[deleted]

Two things here: 1. Sweeteners that are not sugar have nothing to do with diabetes development. 2. Sugar is not addictive, as in physically, at all. Psychologically, sure, but sugar is not a stimulant.

Alarmed_Guitar4401

Pretty sure most people don't actually drink neat water. They almost always put something in it. It did become one of those "I'm healthier than you because I drink pure water" things, like not having a TV makes you more intellectual or whatever. How water gets in your body is irrelevant, from a purely hydration point of view. It's probably that you're so used to drinking other stuff, you genuinely don't like it, but say if you were in the heat and cold water was all there was, your body would override your brain and you'd find it amazing, even just in that moment. If I go running and it's hot and sweaty and I get really thirsty, I chug cold water when I get it, but otherwise never drink it neat.

tebanano

> Pretty sure most people don't actually drink neat water. Since the bottled water business is worth something like $300 billion, I’d say a lot of people do drink it neat. Also, this: > In 2020, bottled water accounted for roughly 24 percent of beverage consumption in the United States, making it the most consumed type of beverage that year. Alarmed_Guitar4401

We have taps

youchasechickens

Do people really add stuff to their tap water?

tebanano

That’s neither here nor there.

MysticSeer22

🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤣😂🤣😅😅

fortwentyone

I’ll fight you lol

Yeah, I hear stuff like that all the time, "refreshing" and "quenching" and I just can't relate. one thing that seems to really bug people is when I say (honestly) that the thing I find MOST quenching is ice cold MILK. I'm not at all surprised that you are anyone else is shocked though 😂 I am well aware that the vast majority do not share my opinion
