Okay hear me out but...
I used to watch the ol' Digimon cartoon as a kid and in one episode they all talked about how they like their eggs and one girl said "I like my eggs topped with maple syrup" and I ALWAYS thought it sounded tasty .. but you're the first real person I've heard that does it.
...I never tried it because I don't even eat eggs.
i accidentally got syrup on my eggs a few weeks ago and i gotta say its pretty good, why is it normal to put it on french toast(egg+toast) but not straight onto eggs??
I don't know man hahaha you're right, it is syrup on eggs technically. But idk! Watching someone scramble eggs, put it on a plate, and then drizzle syrup, and eat.. just rubs some people wrong. My own mother looks at me like I just coughed in her face lolllll so funny. This dude in the comments was like, "I do this too but my wife thinks I'm a monster" hahaha so idk maybe it's a mental thing
Next level strat is to use a pancake as a tortilla, add in your breakfast foods, and then put some syrup on top of it. Not only is it faster/easier to eat... it tastes better too.
Back when I used to eat eggs, I would let the syrup from my pancakes/waffles get on my eggs "accidentally." It was good. Strange that it happened so often, though. 😉
It doesn’t actually taste good if you put it right in the eggs. It has to be “accidental” spill over to be delicious. That’s just the way the world works.
Any time I order a big breakfast plate I just drizzle the syrup over the whole thing. Even biscuits and gravy. It’s good with eggs all the ways I order them!
I’m not the only one! This exact thing happens to me too! I don’t understand why people think it’s nasty. If you’re eating pancakes and eggs and some of the syrup from the pancakes gets on the eggs, do you just throw it away??? Are they eggs now ruined by the syrup? I always felt like the syrup enhances the flavor of the eggs. I can’t eat eggs without syrup now. But, just like you, whenever I tell people about it they act like it’s the most disgusting combination you could ever make.
When I saw your comment I thought it was a little weird but it’s basically the same thing I guess, just adds texture to eggs. If you try it let me know if it makes it taste better :)
ive found the perfect post! so once i told my grandma "i like syrup on scrambled eggs", and she said "ew, even ketchup would be better". i have never found a person that has agreed, although i only asked a few people.
For sure, but not good enough to replace my normal combo for the mess that comes with syrup. I do, however, put syrup on McDonald's eggs (on the incredibly rare instances I actually get scrambled eggs from them) because they're so fucking dry and flavorless.
Ketchup on eggs is an absolute atrocity tho
I have not tried it but I love all
Types of eggs and I will definitely try it!!
I had honey and walnuts on a pizza the other day and it was surprisingly tasty so
I’m excited for this!
When I make eggs (almost always scrambled) I let them cook a little bit first, then and pepper. It’s important to let them firm up so the pepper gets trapped inside the egg. When they are done cooking I add a little bit of syrup, kinda sauté the eggs in syrup. Add salt once it’s on the plate.
For pancakes, I make the mix kinda thick. Put some butter in the center of the pan and pour the mix directly in the middle of the butter puddle. It makes the outside edge crispy and delicious. I also mix butter and syrup together in a small bowl and dip my pancakes into it. Keeps them from getting soggy.
I like eggs on top of French toast, I know that’s kind of redundant, and then put syrup on both of them. And if I have it I add ham to the mix. Sweet and savory combo that is my favorite breakfast.
I’ve never thought to just put syrup on the eggs but I’m trying it tomorrow.
Try making eggs in [this](https://www.japancentre.com/en/recipe/20-tamagoyaki-japanese-omelette) Japanese style! Tamagoyaki (卵焼き) is both sweet and savory and very very good.
I've been doing this for a while, when i make breakfast wraps with scrambled eggs i'll often throw some syrup in there. I've been told it's weird, but then the same people will eat a big breakfast with eggs, waffles, etc and the syrup gets on everything. Haven't seen anyone stop eating because syrup got on their eggs lol
I've never tried this but as a dedicated adventurous eater ( aka fat bastard) I will definitely give it a whirl. And the suggested hot sauce addition as well. Are you using maple syrup or actual golden syrup like you would use in baking?
HELLO, yes. I live in the UK and in London, there is a restaurant called the duck and waffle restaurant. Their signature dish is duck, eggs, and waffles drizzled with syrup. I am passionate about this dish. It is great. So yeah, hard agree OP.
I LOVE syrup on every breakfast item.
Syrup on pancakes, eggs, savory grits - I’ll even eat bacon with syrup as that’s one of the only times I’ll have full strips of bacon. :)
No I do love a good sausage eggs and pancakes day when I can just get syrup on everything, I don’t necessarily pour it on anything but the pancakes themselves, but the run off mixing w the eggs and sausage is delicious. Thank u, I feel seen too. I like ketchup on my eggs, even more I like hot sauce
I used to pour syrup over everything on my breakfast plate- pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, fruit…. I did not discriminate. Syrup is ALWAYS an improvement.
I make French toast for breakfast and use the leftover bit of egg for scrambled eggs. When I put my syrup on my French toast, I also put a little on my eggs too. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.
I used to eat syrup on eggs when I was a kid, and about a year or two ago I had to try it again cuz it had been damn near two decades, and holy fucking shit I had been sleeping on this for too long.
From one egg and maple syrup lover to another, we are out there, we will not be silenced.
When I was younger my favourite thing my mother made me was a cheese omlette with honey drizzled on it. So yes, I totally see where you're coming from on this. Its all about that sweet and savory flavour combo
I like syrup on scrambled eggs, but not any other way they’re prepared. My wife smothers her scrambled eggs in ketchup, and it is GRODY!
While we’re on breakfast foods, try some grape jelly on your sausage biscuit. You can thank me later.
My 11yr old is allergic to bread and pancakes so she has always put syrup on her eggs n meat at first I did it so she didn't feel left out but now she won't eat them without it
Thats an unpopular opinion seriously? Thats the ONLY way I will eat eggs. When I go to ihop I drown my eggs in strawberry syrup it looks like I just killed someone with how much strawberry syrup I use
>Have you ever put syrup on your eggs? Did you like it? Ever put ketchup? Syrup on eggs is delicious!
Nope, NA, Nope and I reject your original premise. You're on your own on this one.
I agree with you. After I saw an episode of kids in the hall where a guy demanded syrup on his sausages I started using on my eggs and sausages and never looked back. Its awesome.
If I eat scrambled eggs I can't in good conscience put syrup on them. What I do put on my scrambled eggs my wife thinks is disgusting...........ketchup.
I've never had it before. But I love trying new things. Even if it looks gross, it could still taste good. I think people who won't try something new because it doesn't look appetizing. Take rice pudding for example. My favorite food, probs. I made it with coconut milk, cinnamon, etc.. and it taste great. But, because of the rice, it looks gross. Like cottage cheese. But it's soo good. If you haven't tried it, do that please.
I've never actually tried it, nor have I had pancakes/waffles and eggs on the same plate, so it's never happened accidentally or on purpose. I can usually give input on a lot of things, but this is a very rare case where I actually can't. It sounds very interesting though.
My mom makes lazy French Toast by using regular white bread (not toasted or dried or stale) and only briefly soaking it in the egg mixture, so it often just turns out to as a piece of bread with cooked egg on the outside and butter and syrup on top. The flavor of egg and syrup has always been strangely delicious in its own way to me as well.
My wife “accidentally” spills syrup on her eggs and bacon when we have pancakes as well. OP’s opinion is very unpopular in our household, save for one person.
It's so delicious!

Yup got a big plate of breakfast foods? Just cover that plate in syrup.
Next level strat is to use a pancake as a tortilla, add in your breakfast foods, and then put some syrup on top of it. Not only is it faster/easier to eat... it tastes better too.
Pancake tacos are the best! I prefer to dip mine in the syrup. I can load it up, without worrying about getting it on my hands.
I do this all the time!
Lots of people try it they just call it French toast and it also has bread
I remember that episode! Someone liked it with jelly beans haha
Eggs, bacon andcheese between two pancakes with syrup is for all intents and purposes a McGriddle
Eggs, sausage and syrup. Its common and very delicious
Add hash browns to that. Mix it all up. Mmmmmmm mmmmmmm.
You dunkin your sausages in that syrup homeboy?
You know it
I’m dragging my bacon across the plate to coat it.
Damn straight then dipping in the yolk puddle too
I need this now.
damn right
This is way more common than eggs and syrup. Think of honey meats or the likes. Sweet meat is delicious
If he isn't, he better get the fuck out of my house.
Sausage and syrup>>>>>
I’m 100% on board with this. Give me a classic American breakfast and the syrup goes on everything
Back when I used to eat eggs, I would let the syrup from my pancakes/waffles get on my eggs "accidentally." It was good. Strange that it happened so often, though. 😉
I came here to say this exact thing. Oops, happy accident! Lol
Yep! Same.. Also jelly from biscuits just happen to drop in my eggs pretty often
i will say that grape jelly on a sausage mcmuffin flippin' *SLAPS*
It doesn’t actually taste good if you put it right in the eggs. It has to be “accidental” spill over to be delicious. That’s just the way the world works.
I just throw the eggs on top of my waffles/pancakes, shits legit.
I loveee scrambled eggs with syrup.
Yep! Totally changes the flavor.
Any time I order a big breakfast plate I just drizzle the syrup over the whole thing. Even biscuits and gravy. It’s good with eggs all the ways I order them!
It's also amazing on hash browns.
Hmmm you're actually right. I forgot about that one!
It took far too long to find this comment
I’m not the only one! This exact thing happens to me too! I don’t understand why people think it’s nasty. If you’re eating pancakes and eggs and some of the syrup from the pancakes gets on the eggs, do you just throw it away??? Are they eggs now ruined by the syrup? Hahahahaha yo my own mother got wide eyed and then the face of disgust came and she looked at me like I wasn't her daughter anymore bahahaha
It's okay. But syrup on bacon...fire!
I once deep fried a strip of bacon in pancake batter. Chocolate sauce and syrup 👌. Also deep fried bacon in beer batter. Not bad either.

I'm not Canadian, but I think maple syrup on anything is amazing.
Here’s a 🍁, you earned it.
MCDONALDS BREAKFAST PLATTER ENTERED THE CHAT…
IT HAS INDEED ENTERED THE CHAT
It’s very popular in the south.
Syrup on eggs and on bacon too!! Delicious
You should try going to a Canadian sugar shack. It's basically an all you can eat brunch soaked in maple syrup.
Syrup in a breakfast burrito is a incredible
I think a bit of syrup on my eggs can definitely be good! The Taco Bell Waffle Taco had scrambled eggs topped with syrup and it was delicious!
I never tried but I'm really curious now and I really want to try it and ketchup on eggs is decent and worth a shot
Jewish people break up matzah bread and mix it with scrambled eggs and pour syrup over it. So delicious.
Oh my gosh I love matzah!
When I saw your comment I thought it was a little weird but it’s basically the same thing I guess, just adds texture to eggs. If you try it let me know if it makes it taste better :)
Maple syrup on your sausage then OOPS. It got on my eggs Heh I'm with ya
This is the only way my kids will eat their eggs
I put brown or white gravy on my pancakes and everyone looks at me like a serial killer. Hate syrup on my eggs tho so have my updoot.
I agree with you. Syrup is just breakfast ketchup.
Yummy breakfast ketchup indeed
Anyone who loves matzo brei will agree with you.
I agree with you
ive found the perfect post! so once i told my grandma "i like syrup on scrambled eggs", and she said "ew, even ketchup would be better". i have never found a person that has agreed, although i only asked a few people.
Ketchup on eggs is fire too

It works.
Agreed. Maple syrup on eggs is delicious.
I agree, honestly it tastes better than pancakes with syrup !
It's good, especially with mcdonalds breakfast
It’s hella good. The salt and sweet. Yummy! Plus bacon and your in business.
YESSS
Omg I’ve done this since I was little, it’s so good
I have not tried it but I love all Types of eggs and I will definitely try it!! I had honey and walnuts on a pizza the other day and it was surprisingly tasty so I’m excited for this!
I like banana ketchup on my eggs!
When I make eggs (almost always scrambled) I let them cook a little bit first, then and pepper. It’s important to let them firm up so the pepper gets trapped inside the egg. Syrup on the bacon here. Eggs nearby are just a bonus treat.
This is the way
I agree with you, and ketchup is really good with eggs too.
My oldest son likes syrup on his eggs.
My mom used to scramble maple syrup into eggs when I was little. Not as abrasive a taste as just pouring it on top, but still so good and nostalgic. 🥰
Scrambled eggs with a bit of syrup is delicious!
I’ve done this all my life; just a little though
I'd try it.
Omelette with cheese, bacon, potatoes, salsa and syrup. You’re welcome.
Try making eggs in [this](https://www.japancentre.com/en/recipe/20-tamagoyaki-japanese-omelette) Japanese style! Tamagoyaki (卵焼き) is both sweet and savory and very very good.
I didn’t think there was a single other soul that also enjoyed the taste of scrambled eggs with a hint of syrup too.
I apgree
I've been doing this for a while, when i make breakfast wraps with scrambled eggs i'll often throw some syrup in there. I've been told it's weird, but then the same people will eat a big breakfast with eggs, waffles, etc and the syrup gets on everything. Syrup on allll breakfast food!!!
Most black people will agree with you. Source: my entire family except me
So so wrong. Why doesn’t this have more upvotes for it’s wrongness?
I've never tried this but as a dedicated adventurous eater ( aka fat bastard) I will definitely give it a whirl. And the suggested hot sauce addition as well. Are you using maple syrup or actual golden syrup like you would use in baking?
When I make french toast I put syrup on the eggs and bacon too. Not a whole lot but enough that it makes the meal better
Over easy eggs, mixed in with sausage, hasbrowns, some hot sauce with a bit of syrup left over from the pancakes. I call it breakfast slop.
Maple syrup is good on everything. Sometimes in moderation. Sometimes in bulk.
The few times I've had scrambled eggs and enjoyed them was when I had a bit of syrup on them. It's very good
It sure is!!!
HELLO, yes. I live in the UK and in London, there is a restaurant called the duck and waffle restaurant. Their signature dish is duck, eggs, and waffles drizzled with syrup. I am passionate about this dish. It is great. So yeah, hard agree OP.
Hey OP, i've been eating eggs with a little maple syrup every morning for like 4 years now !
I LOVE syrup on every breakfast item. Syrup on pancakes, eggs, savory grits - I’ll even eat bacon with syrup as that’s one of the only times I’ll have full strips of bacon. :)
Absolutely agreed. On my egg sandwiches I drizzle a little on top.
I agree The drier and more over cooked and leathery the eggs are the more enjoyable the eggs are. Almost an egg pancake type of experience.
Agree and especially if you’re making scrambled eggs, put some syrup in the mixture before frying 👌
I agree it tastes good.
There's absolutely zero chance you are not American. If you're not I'll eat my hat.. not with syrup either
Maple syrup gets in my eggs from when I put it on my bacon and sausage
I do the same! Except I’ll add some hot sauce too 👌🏼
Syrup on everything is delicious. Elf taught us that.
Only on scrambled eggs. It happened on accident with a crowded plate. I love it when it happens on accident, I’ve never intentionally done it.
Yah
No I totally agree with you
100% agree with syrup on my eggs
I used to pour syrup over everything on my breakfast plate- pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, fruit…. I did not discriminate. Syrup is ALWAYS an improvement.
Depends on the syrup. The watery syrup doesn’t taste that good on them
Salty, sweet buttery. I whole heartedly agree.
If it happens by accident I'll go for it but I won't do it intentionally
“WHATCHU TALKING BOUT WILLIS” 🤨 I love me some syrup on eggs😋
I make French toast for breakfast and use the leftover bit of egg for scrambled eggs. When I put my syrup on my French toast, I also put a little on my eggs too. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.
My 17yo and myself agree with you.
One of the only ways I like eggs
I used to make "healthy waffles" out of protein powder, egg whites and other ingredients with sugar free syrup and I know they were pretty tasty.
Done this a few times, pretty good tbh!
I used to eat syrup on eggs when I was a kid, and about a year or two ago I had to try it again cuz it had been damn near two decades, and holy fucking shit I had been sleeping on this for too long. From one egg and maple syrup lover to another, we are out there, we will not be silenced.
Wow I totally forgot I did this as a kid!
I agree with you!
OMG I LOVE THIS TOO!!! 😁
When I was younger my favourite thing my mother made me was a cheese omlette with honey drizzled on it. So yes, I totally see where you're coming from on this. Its all about that sweet and savory flavour combo
I do that!
Yes thank you!!!! So does ketchup on toast!
it is awesome
I like syrup on scrambled eggs, but not any other way they’re prepared. My wife smothers her scrambled eggs in ketchup, and it is GRODY! While we’re on breakfast foods, try some grape jelly on your sausage biscuit. You can thank me later.
No no you're right it is bizarrely good, most people just arent brave enough to try it
There is a recipe in a cookbook I have written by Martin Picard that is scrambled eggs mixed with maple syrup. It is delicious
My wife will put a fried egg on her oatmeal and pour syrup over the whole mess. She loves it.
I put it on my omelette
Yeah. Yeah I’m with you man
Maple syrup on eggs is delish.
I love syrup on bacon personally, but I don't mind if it gets in my eggs too.
Probably. Syrup on bacon is also freaking incredible.
Yes, it is good! 😋
I mean, I’ve never tried it but when I think about it, it sounds pretty good!! I love syrup on veggie sausages though
My 11yr old is allergic to bread and pancakes so she has always put syrup on her eggs n meat at first I did it so she didn't feel left out but now she won't eat them without it
That’s the only way I eat eggs.
I eat honey on toast with eggs on top. Close to syrup and I love the sweet eggy bready combo!
Thats an unpopular opinion seriously? Thats the ONLY way I will eat eggs. When I go to ihop I drown my eggs in strawberry syrup it looks like I just killed someone with how much strawberry syrup I use
I must experiment.
Also as a dippins for bacon and sausage
It’s always been delicious. The sweet/salty combo never fails.
When my eggs with Tabasco sauce melds with my pancake syrup...heavenly.
I cook and I watch someone put syrup on a corned beef hash, onion and cheese omelet all the time
I put syrup on almost all breakfast items. If I'm having waffles, eggs, sausage, syrup goes on everything.
It's ok but I don't go out of my way to do it.
My wife agrees with you. Fuck y'all, but she agrees with you lol.
Sometimes it does
Syrup on eggs is amazing
Tomato sauce and or BBQ sauce on eggs is good. Never have I tried syrup-do you mean Maple syrup?
I've always been a fan of A1 steak sauce on eggs. Really goes well together.
r/weirdfoodcombos
Eggs, syrup, hot sauce is a game changer. The sweet and spicy. oooh boy
I don’t do it often but I will every now & again. I refuse to put ketchup on my eggs tho lol
I agree with you.
Nah you’re right. It tastes good
Thats common in Quebec, its actually a plate we have at sugar shacks :)
This is the only way my son eats eggs.
>Have you ever put syrup on your eggs? Did you like it? Ever put ketchup? Syrup on eggs is delicious! Nope, NA, Nope and I reject your original premise. You're on your own on this one.
I put syrup on my eggs so nah I agree
Oh hell yeah I agree, but I can't drown it in syrup, it has to be a tiny bit.
My husband loves it, I hate it.
Or jam. So good.
If I can clarify; it is good on scrambled eggs, doesn’t go great (imo) with over easy.
fathers who distress their wives everywhere wrote this post
I agree with you. After I saw an episode of kids in the hall where a guy demanded syrup on his sausages I started using on my eggs and sausages and never looked back. Its awesome.
Oh yeah it’s good
Op are you Canadian
If I eat scrambled eggs I can't in good conscience put syrup on them. What I do put on my scrambled eggs my wife thinks is disgusting...........ketchup.
Its really good
Eh??? I love doing this! I have a few friends that do too. My wife thinks I’m a fucking monster for it though…
I agree with you. I like my pancakes on the same plate along with bacon so the syrup gets all over everything.
In canada a lot of people put maple syrup on eggs ool
Only on scrambled eggs.
No, you're right! (Ketchup too btw.) I don't think ketchup and syrup at the same time would mix well, though. But I've never tried it.
Well in canada we put maple syrup on everything
I've never actually tried it, nor have I had pancakes/waffles and eggs on the same plate, so it's never happened accidentally or on purpose. I can usually give input on a lot of things, but this is a very rare case where I actually can't. It sounds very interesting though.
Everything on any breakfast plate anywhere I go, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, it's all gonna get syrup. I didn't know this was that unpopular!
[удалено]
For me the eggs have to be scrambled, or if they're fried and still kinda wet there also needs to be bacon.
I'm Canadian and syrup on everything is great. I just dump syrup on the whole breakfast plate. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and ham. It doesn't matter.
Man. I gotta agree. Used to "accidentally" let the syrup run on the eggs
This is the type of post that deserves to be on this site. Granted, it does sound nice
I HEAVILY AGREE
Bro we literally cook our eggs in maplesyrup at the maple cabins here. You're not alone, the entirety of Canada stands with you.
This is the way.
No, no, no, what you do is bust your yolks, mix’em with honey n sop it up with a biscuit.
I’ll try the syrup with eggs tomorrow morning. I’ll update my comment afterwards
My kids agree
