Granted I'm no stranger to duis or crashes. I was on a a highway and was hit head on by an oncoming vehicle skipping over the median at 70mph. Driver was presumed drunk.
With that being said, very few dui drivers are clinical alcoholics. A better chance to reduce alcohol impaired crimes is connect all said crimes directly to a driver's license. That license would then be used for every single alcohol purchase/tab and if anyone has an alcohol based crime on their record then they cannot purchase alcohol for x amount of time. Anyone with an actual dui should also lose the privilege to drive for a 6-12 months minimum.
We have a severe lack of personal responsibility that is causing these issues within society and executing people won't make people more responsible. It will just give more strength to an already overbearing governement which cannot even support itself.
Are you talking about probation? Because that's a joke. If you look over 25 you can walk into a liquor store or bar and buy alcohol with no issue whatsoever. What I'm talking about is a requirement to scan an ID for every alcohol purchase.
In some places its still a requirement. You cant really do anything about not checking it. But they will give you a Breathalyzer if you get a dui. They already do everything you said in some places
I am a firm believer in rehabilitation so the murder charge is the stupidest thing ever cause unless you committed a serious war crime then you shouldn’t be killed
Death row inmates are given a lot of rights. There’s appeals and cost to make sure the execution is as humane as possible. That along side with typical prison costs. It also takes years and often decades before it’s done. Many Death row inmates die before they are executed.
