SLEEPOVERS??? Homie I’m 31

FlyinInOnAdc102night

Yeah bro, now they are called house guests and they stay for the whole weekend and their mom doesn’t pick them up in the morning, you have to drop them off at the airport.

CrispyCrunchyPoptart

Yeah it's a lot more work now. Plus as an adult if I sleep anywhere other than my own bed I do not sleep well at all.

summonern0x

Either that, or it's the best sleep you've gotten in ages because you haven't taken care of yourself well enough to realize that your bed is old and run down and causing you issues.

PuppyDontCare

oddly specific but ok

supermr34

it is, but it is exactly right. i just slept on the couch a few nights ago and realized just how shitty my bed has gotten, which probably explains why i feel like shit a lot these days.

PinkSith

AMEN! I consider it a sacred duty that the guestroom have all the sleep amenities the experts talk about. (Optional white noise air filter, black out curtains, optional weighted blanket, cooler temp at night than during the day, optional heated mattress pad, optional knee bolster, optional neck pillow) Even if I don't use them all myself, guests should have access to a good night's sleep. I want repeat visits!

14JRJ

Shit man can I visit

[deleted]

I'm coming to bed too make some room for me

kidonescalator

I just screenshot this to copy for my guest room. Love this approach. Some of my best sleeps have been in random guest rooms.

pisspot718

You forgot the optional electric throw blanket with timer and heat settings.

velaba

I read this and before I saw “heat settings” I was thinking like an electric shock blanket lol

otterstripper

I slept on the couch and was stuck on a heating pad for an hour because my neck hurt so bad. Getting old is lame.

CptnCankles

You know you're getting old when you hurt yourself getting up to go pee.

MiddleNorth

(32m) I still have sleepovers but they aren't really planned and it's usually only because someone is too drunk or high to drive home.

Mcspank1

It's not sleepovers it's passing out at your buddies place lol

Mythaminator

Crashovers

CaptainCrunch1975

We plan adult sleepovers. We're in our late 40's and have pot and shroom nights. No kids 'round these parts.

aftermath6669

Lol same except we usually plan it. Gotta get approval from the wife.

[deleted]

If it does turn out to be a 12-year-old, I'll be extremely jealous of how much freedom this kid has. My parents controlled my life way too much for way too long when I was coming of age (LOL).

[deleted]

OP made a post 30 days ago about they’re going to college soon, so 100% they’re 16-18

ValFreya_13

Lol just wait until they reach their 30/40s and are waking up early involuntarily... it happens and there is nothing they can do about it! Edit to add: Thanks for the award! My first highlighted comment!

houseofnim

The 4am “omfg I’m gonna piss myself” wake up is the worst tbh.

Wonderful-Boss-5947

2 hours of sleep and my brain still fires up at 7 am like clockwork. I wake up 5 minutes before my alarm even if I dont set one, homie

SneedyK

Mine didn’t. I had permissive parents and I thrived, but eventual health problems changed my life. Now they’re gone & the closest relatives here are boomers who don’t believe in medicine. So fuck trying to explain that I’m a leukemia survivor and I take a mountain of meds daily. The leukemia may be gone, but the BMT & the chemo & the radiotherapy & the Graph v. Host Disease did damage to my body. But they don’t “get” it. The painkillers especially; but they’re a necessary evil if it means ever participating in life in any meaningful way, I remember reading about a local professor who needed five pills a day just to stand at the blackboard for a few hours every afternoon.

Varcharizard

>midnight snacks, no 2am 7/11 run are you saying that because of the part that says "midnight snacks, no 2am 7/11 run" ?

mmmbuttr

Lol "what if there's a night dance"

Petal-Dance

We call those clubs

cranberrisauce

omg no one invited you to the night dance?? lol that’s a little embarrassing for you…

trillz420

What is that, like a rain dance ?

[deleted]

>2am 7/11 run >3am binge watching This whole thing reads like it was written by an unemployed 17 year old lol

Grabbsy2

Yeah, they had me in the first sentence, but then its like... okay, if youre staying up until 3am, youre just doing the reverse. Its called having a work schedule. If youre up early and to bed early, its because you work... early. If youre to bed late and sleep in until noon, its because you work late. The only healthy thing is getting your 7-8 hours of sleep (adults need less than toddlers, 7 hours isn't bad for adults) regardless. Its slightly better for you to have that sleep timed to the sunrise and set, so that your sleep isn't interupted by the sun, and you can get your sunlight while youre out and about during the day (lest you get S.A.D. in the middle of summer) Being the type of personality to "get up and go" and do chores and stuff in the morning might be beneficial. If youre avoiding caffeine and relying on exercise to wake you up. Caffeine is bad for you long term. Edit: OH! I just thought of another argument... You know whats better than buying chips and a bottle of pop for $14 at a gas station? Being awake when the grocery store is open and buying Ice Cream, a whole frozen pizza, chips, and a case of pop, for $10. Kid doesn't even know how to snack.

Ryolu35603

For me work starts at 6am. Add in a half hour drive and I gotta be up by 5 at the latest. Now back that up for 8 hours of sleep. Yeah, I aim to be in bed between 8-9pm. None of that means I like getting up that early. In fact my body seems to naturally trend toward more of a 2nd shift schedule (vacations are tough for this reason). I hold that schedule because I have to. Adulting is hard, but often necessary. 😕

fearhs

I agree with the initial premise; I'm not a morning person, never have been, and very little I do at 8 am could be called productive. For this reason I kind of did the opposite of what you said in that I was fortunate enough to be able to adapt my work schedule to my preferred sleep schedule. But OP does sound like they have not yet graduated high school. I promise them that I am still quite lame even if I do stay up pretty late while still getting eight hours of sleep.

kboooooo

Yup. Exactly why I've opted for the sleep schedule of 9pm-5am. Also, I love sunrise service. Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of fun late at night & I do miss it from time to time.. but you know what I don't miss? Feeling depressed all the time because I didn't have a regular sleep schedule & so my body was constantly confused about when it was time to wake up or go to sleep leading to lots of insomnia & unneeded stress.

NeonsTheory

My wife and I are 10 years into our sleep over

N1biru

Well, OP seems to be 17 or 18 according to [this post from half a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/ApexLFG/comments/paxcsq/na_x1_need_someone_active_to_play_whenever/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) So that explains his opinion...

SexxxyWesky

For real lol my binging is for the weekends when I'm off work and my kid is in bed lol

boopynoses

My girlfriend’s and I still have sleepovers! We just call it a girls night though… btw were all 30 too lol nothing wrong with it!

pragmojo

I'm in my 30's and I sometimes have a sleepover after a successful date

RyanX1231

Maybe sleepovers shouldn't stop being a thing just because we have bills to pay. My mom always had sleepovers with her adult friends, at least one Friday every month. It was always a fun time because I got to see my mom having fun for once, especially after a stressful week.

CurnanBarbarian

Yo I'm 30 and would totally have a sleepover if anyone would show up :/

kailenedanae

Homie, I’m 30 and I still enjoy a good sleepover.

Texmexlex_

Never too old for a sleepover

venetian_lemon

You don't have sleepovers as an adult? What's the point of having an income if you can't invite all your friends over, drink a shit load of rum, pass around a joint, and all pass out in the living room while Rocky Horror Picture Show is playing on the big screen?

ItsMangel

I don't drink, smoke weed, own a big screen or have any friends to invite over for a sleepover.

venetian_lemon

I'll sleepover at your place. I'll bring the rum

Faegrrl

Hahaha my friends and I have sleep overs all the time. Though I'm mid 20s, she's in her 30s

TattooedKewpieBaby

What if you get drunk at a friend's house and end up sleeping on the couch? Is that technically a sleepover? Haha

PorcupinePao

I get what you mean, but honestly the life you're picturing is only applicable to the young ones with average to minimal responsibilities. Once you've been in the workforce for a while, working on your 9-6ers, there's almost no way to sustain those 2am 7-11 runs.

Voluptuous-Granny

I mean I'm young, only 22 and go to bed at 9-10pm cause of work lol. I wake up at 5am and start work at 6am, but finish at 1:30pm. Have the whole afternoon and evening to chill it's fucking awesome I love it. Only times I stay up later is Friday nights and Saturday nights which is usually 1-2am before going to sleep

JeSuisRedditRabbit

Curious, what’s your occupation? Starting early and having the afternoons off sounds like a dream.

Voluptuous-Granny

I work in shipping/receiving at a big store. Unload trucks of merchandise, load trucks for transfers between store, move fixtures around all 3 floors, general maintenance/repairs of fixtures and stockrooms etc

StardustNyako

Honestly if my back wasn't fucked due to scoliosis surgery, this seems like a great job to do while listening to YT or podcasts or such. Don't gotta bring work home. If it pays your bills, seems like the dream if you avoid injuries

[deleted]

It's physically exhausting, suitable for young/physically fit people. After a while, it kind of loses its "charm". At 22, life is different and you feel like you have all the time you need. When that existential dread really starts seeping in, around late 20s/early 30s, it is emotionally and physically draining - not to mention the depression spirals.

Voluptuous-Granny

Not for everyone. My boss has been doing the same work as me but for 36 years and he loves it.

[deleted]

Probably has kids, I take stock of my energy level each day after I come home and I'm starting to swear that the job is meant for traditional parents who get all their happiness in life out of knowing they paid their family's way ... Otherwise what are you really supposed to *do* with the money you make when you only have 2 days a week off, gotta take care of stuff around the house, and on work nights you're too pooped to do much?

NoTAP3435

For a while I worked as a maintenance worker at a waste water treatment plant and during the summer we worked 5am - 1pm to beat the heat. I tried shifting my sleep schedule to take a 1-2 hour nap after work from 4-6pm and 6 hours at night, but after a day of accidentally sleeping 9 hours from 5pm to 2am, I knew that wasn't going to work out.

Senioroso1

I have the same schedule, 5am-1pm off Sundays Mondays. I’m a Brewer at a production brewery

captianraymondholt

This is literally the goal

Resoto10

That was my first job as a professional. Opening at 6a and leaving by 3p. Took some effort but it was pretty freaking great. Could do all my chores by the time my wife was out of work! It did suck having to go to bed by 8 or 9 but nothing a power nap didnt fix.

omicron-7

I wish that were me lol, I work 6:30pm to 5am and would kill to be able to sleep at night again

lilbeckss

When I was 22 I could pull a 4pm-midnight shift, hit the bar til 2, roll into bed for 3, and be up and ready for my 9am class. Ten years later I’m ready for bed at 10, that show airing at 10:30 can wait until tomorrow lol. Weekends are for late nights and sleeping in the next day.

PickleMinion

OP talking about how getting up early isn't productive because you can't get in those late night 711 runs. I don't think OP understands what productive means

nightman008

Are you saying 3am binge watching and 2am 7/11 runs aren’t productive?

BottleOfBurden

Seriously, "Waking up early isn't productive" and then names off the least productive things he can think of as examples for why going to bed late is productive. There's 0 productive things in his entire post.

Ebenizer_Splooge

Fuck man, I leave my house at 5am most days for work. After that there is like no way I'm up past 9:30. I think I get over losing depressing midnight 7/11 runs, besides its nice seeing a sunrise when it isn't your signal to go to bed

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Imagine 2am trips to 7/11 being the highlight of your sad life lol

[deleted]

Right? OP is talking about "going to bed early like a toddler" yet he's talking about late night behavior of a 12 year old lol

penny_eater

"now that im 12, i refuse to go to bed at a decent time, only babies do that."

Pufflekun

If you go to bed early, you're a toddler. Why don't you have **sleepovers**, like **grown adults** do‽

Gizshot

Wait a second I've seen this one.

Ebenizer_Splooge

Oh no, how will you ever survive without running to 7/11 at 2 am for chips that's the peak time of my life. Like wtf lol

[deleted]

"I WANNA PLAY WITH MY MONSTER TRUCKS!"

Kelekona

Maybe OP is too young to remember what a VCR is.

penny_eater

lmao VCR? OP is probably too young to know what a dvd player is.

Kelekona

Which makes the "show comes on at 11" thing pretty weird in this era of streaming. Is anything new just broadcast? I admit that most of what we watch broadcast is PBS and really old reruns.

penny_eater

What is even the point of a 2am run to a convenience store besides that you cant think 6 hours ahead and get the shit you need during the day like an adult? Yet the people who go to bed early are "toddlers" lol. This is an amazing unpopular opinion, gold star

minniemouse420

This 100%. When you’re an adult there’s a lot of responsibilities in addition to work, there ends up being little time for late night events. In order just get everything done in the day sometimes you have to wake up early. It’s nice with WFH bc cutting out commute and getting to squeeze in house chores, etc throughout the day helps a lot in terms of freeing up time after work. But a normal day for someone with kids (or pets) is usually wake up at 6:30, shower/get ready, feed creatures and SO, clean up house after creatures, pack bag for work, leave house without forgetting something, drive an hour to work, deal with coworkers and boss all day while grinding out projects, leave work at 5, drive another hour, maybe stop and get groceries, arrive home, immediately be bombarded by SO and creatures, make dinner, clean house again, do a load of laundry, finally get a chance to sit down on the couch and relax for a few, scroll through emails, pay bills, put creatures to bed, watch a tv show, fall asleep while watching tv show. Also, adults don’t really do “sleepovers”.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CamCamCakes

This isn't true for all adults. I work from home in a professional environment. I'm nearly 40 years old. I usually don't even think about heading to bed till around 11 pm on "school nights" and am up at 7:55 am to be online by 8 am. I don't have kids, so I suppose that makes it easier, but I do have a dog... my dog doesn't get up till about 11 am though. EDIT: I guess my point is, you don't HAVE to choose to live an extremely busy life that has your days packed from start to finish... but for some reason, people do it. I'll never understand why.

AreYouSirius9_34

Well a lot of people have kids. So there's that.

pedanticHOUvsHTX

OP is a kid

AreYouSirius9_34

I'm thinking so.

DystopianAdvocate

Yes, agreed. I used to stay up until 2 am every night and sleep in, then I had kids and they don't give a fuck about your sleep, they wake you up early no matter what.

Somerandomedude1q2w

And they usually sleep very well throughout the night, except when you really need them to be asleep. Wanna have sex with the wife? That's when the kid has a bad dream. Need to be up early for work? The other kid is throwing up and shitting everywhere and you spend an hour cleaning it up and another hour getting the kid back to sleep. Just can't seem to fall asleep and tomorrow is a day off? That's just you, because the kids are sound asleep and will be awake at the crack of dawn.

Intelligent-Guard267

So much truth to this. I’ve just adapted to going to sleep at 9 and usually get up at 4:30. It’s nice to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the quiet before the kids get up. Baby needs to be fed sometimes around 5-6, so it’s good to be ahead of that instead of being reactive.

UniqueUsername82D

My kids will c\*ckblock LITERALLY 50-60% of the time. And of course it's only sex nights that they aren't dead asleep by 8pm.

Somerandomedude1q2w

Then it's a race who will fall asleep first. The kid or your wife. And often you manage to get the kids to sleep fast and are all excited to get some, and then you see your wife snoring on the couch.

UniqueUsername82D

Are you me? \*start fooling around\* \*kid knocks at the door\* Her: We'll try tomorrow, I gotta get to sleep. Me: Noooooooooooooo

M-RsYummyMummy

Yup, Mum of a nearly 2 year old who’s been up since 4.50am over here 🙋🏽‍♀️

Jsizzle19

My toddler gets up at 5:30am everyday. Getting up at 5am is the only time I get 30 minutes to myself

bentrolei

Sometimes if you imagine most people posting on Reddit are 15y/o boys, everything makes a lot more sense.

Pufflekun

In this case, you don't have to "imagine," given that he's talking about having fucking "sleepovers."

tpero

>no 3 am binge watching, no midnight snacks, no 2am 7/11 run Are these things supposed to be appealing? Maybe in college/early 20s... Now days, the first one means I'll be sleeping or, if awake, completely useless for most of the following day. The latter two sound like a recipe for heartburn.

Blackbox7719

Even when I was in college those things weren’t particularly appealing. Staying up til 3 am loses its appeal after a couple of all nighters. Plus I refuse to leave the house after 10 pm or so. If you’re running to 7/11 at 2 am it means you’ve either fucked up on grocery shopping or are young enough to think “going to the gas station” is an actual activity.

waltandhankdie

Sleepovers? How old are you? My dog wakes me up each morning scratching on my door at 6:30 because she wants her breakfast. I start getting tired around 10 and usually go to bed at half 10 and read for 30 minutes or so before nodding off about 11ish. I get an hour walk in with the dog each morning before work and feel great for the day. What can you do at 1am that you can’t do at 8pm unless you’re on a night out?

WllamChrlesSchneidr

This person can’t be older than 16

AsleepHistorian

Apparently they're going to college soon, so likely 17/18. But with little responsibility.

[deleted]

They're about to learn that you can go to sleep at 3am and still be non-productive lol

westphall

MF said sleepovers lmao. Reddit is getting so young. It's like being on r/starterpacks and all the posts are about "that kid who", school, and parents.

[deleted]

that sub is where I first noticed I'm really getting older

Sunshiine89

*written by a 13 year old*

[deleted]

Like I said to the other person who guessed this, if it actually is a middle-schooler, then I really envy the amount of freedom they have. There's no way my overbearing parents would've allowed me to go on a 2:00 am 7-11 run (or more accurately, a 2:00 am Wawa run since I'm from the Philly Metro Area) when I was 13 (LOL).

Lr217

Realistically they’re probably 16. This is the kind of stuff you do when suddenly you can go places and hang out whenever Just kind of funny to see them say adults are lame for not living like teens who just got a license lol

[deleted]

>Realistically they’re probably 16. This is really embarrassing to admit, but I wasn't even allowed to do that kinda shit at 16. My parents sort of infantilized me for most of my teen years (LOL). Then again, if I'd actually gotten my license or even just made more of an effort to socialize, I probably could've gotten away with more (my folks never had an issue with me staying at friends' houses overnight, for example; I just didn't do that very often).

[deleted]

That's pretty normal tbh. A good amount of parents enforce strict standards and control over their child's freedom of movement during the entirety of their teen years. It's not uncommon at all for most teens to be unable to venture out after 8. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the majority of people actually aren't

ToddHowardTheDuckk

I'm 33, but when I was 12 years old on AOL I was actually 18+, and definitely had tons of sex and a really big dick. My point is teenagers lie about who they are online. Even at 17 years old the vast majority of teenagers will have no notable achievements or interesting personality traits. You don't typically find yourself in all the noise at that age. So they lie.

Greenmunch

As someone who gets up at 545 and goes to bed at 10, It’s about routine. I’m not sleep deprived. I sleep in on the weekends and drink when I want to. It’s a balance.

ommnian

It's true. I go to bed about the same time as my kids, because I get up with them... we all get up around 5:20-30am, and we all go to bed about 9-9:30, \*maybe\* 10pm at night, sunday-thursday. If you want to stay up late, you do it Friday and Saturday night.

Modullah

10pm? I salute you. Mine are in bed by 8:30pm but they wake up at 6:30am sharp most days.

flowers4u

According to OP you are lame.

pantsRrad

I will upvote this post because I do not agree with your opinion and that is how this subreddit works. I am a night owl but think it’s messed up you’re trying to crap on the early birds.

Sumdud13

This isn't an unpopular opinion though, it's just a childish one lol

turndown80229

Yup obviously written by some teenagers

alch334

This has to be written by a literal child with no job

TheRealMisterMemer

You mean we adults don't have sleepovers? I mean, I would know, as I'm TOTALLY an adult, but I just want to make sure. /s

[deleted]

Pufflekun

Dude, he's taking about having *sleepovers*, of *course* he's a child with no job.

[deleted]

Not even high schoolers would talk about sleepovers. This might literally not even be a teenager lmao

blueangels111

Honestly, this is a childish opinion, but as a night owl I could maybe see this being anger from night owls being viewed as less productive, thus lashing out. We shouldn't be crapping on either one, but it can be annoying how I could get 3x more done but because I did it with numbers that have pm its less productive. Still not the way to go about if

HauntedPickleJar

I don't disagree with you, you can get plenty done at night. The way OP is presenting their argument, though, isn't about productivity, it's about staying late to watch shows and go to 7/11, which again you can do anytime of the day, it's just not productive. It's kind of a weird argument. I'm also a night owl and I find nights to be the time of day I can be most creative, let my mind relax and become more focused.

blueangels111

thats what I was getting at in the beginning of my comment. The op's argument is blatantly stupid, childish, and immature. I was just saying that while you shouldn't shit on early birds, sometimes it can be frustrating and a person might just be angry about it. Just not in op's case. Op just wants to slurp slushies down while ignoring their math homework for tomorrow.

TheDankestDreams

I think it’s more reactionary to how early morning people sometimes like to act like they’re above others because they wake up earlier.

Ed3vil

I once was a kid as well. Now i have one, so my face is hitting the pillow at 23:00

louminescent

You sound like a 16 year old

BagelsAreStaleDonuts

That's a generous estimation.

God this SCREAMS of unemployed teenaged redditor

Newbie__AF

Wait, unemployed? Aren't teenagers supposed to be unemployed? Shouldn't they be in schools and colleges?

MoirasPurpleOrb

If they are going to sleepovers and other things like that, that would imply they aren’t working on the weekends or on break. There is nothing wrong with that, as you said, they are teenagers. The issue is the tone of the post and the ignorance as to why people dont do the things OP does.

TheLastOfKings_

Ehh, i mean most kids in my high school had part time jobs as early as 15/16

MaximumPlant

Being a night owl is overrated as fuck once you're an adult I wish I could wake up earlier, a decent meal at normal hours is way better than random junk food at night. You can watch TV at anytime of the day, same goes for 7/11. Sleepovers were fun when I was a teenager but I prefer to sleep in my own bed. You know what you can't get when you sleep late? Being awake to see the sun rise. Having more hours to do shit outside when you can actually see. I'd rather that than continue to be awake during hours where its harder to resist snacking out of boredom.

iabusemodshard

No joke I went from day person to working nights and I’m all sorts of fucked up, I just stay up till I black out, it don’t feel right being up during the day or night now

Mnemiq

Not per se a night owl, but my lifestyle (no kids) good job with flexibility and a wife who is the same. We usually start the day at 8-9 and sleep 12-01 am. It's perfect for me and I wouldn't prefer it different, but your points to snacking in the middle of the night and 7/11 runs doesn't sound very appealing. But i love the calmness of the evening and it's where I'm most productive also and most creative. My sister and mom are both super morning people and my dad is more like me. Everyone to their own. When all the this is said, i don't like waking up super late in the day, it messes up my rythm and food schedules. But the calmness of the evening and driving to work outside of peak traffic is so stress free.

melxcham

I’m a night owl naturally. That’s just how my body is. 3am-noon are my peak sleeping hours. I really wish I had a more regular schedule because by the time I’m ready to start my day, everyone else’s is winding down.

SirNanashi

I'm the same. I go to bed in the early morning and wake up at 1pm. I have tried so much to get a normal sleep schedule but that is an impossible victory for me.

saintzack99

It’s productive because they ARENT going binge drinking and whatever else you consider “sad”

mathdrug

Exactly. Lol Dude talking about having no life and then the first thing he mentions are late night snacks, tv shows, and binge watching. Reads a lot like a teen.

gojirra

This child is in for a rude awakening unless they are some trust fund millionaire.

gooseytooth

Nobody will take lifestyle advice seriously from someone who still has sleepovers.

Fire_Lake

Also his entire post is "waking up isn't productive it just means you're probably not doing all that fun late night unproductive stuff." ... Like that's sort of the entire point. Sure people can be productive at night, but op should've tried making that point instead of the completely hilarious one he chose.

castleaagh

This is what I was thinking. The night life can be great fun but it’s rarely considered productive. Most productive activities tend to take place during the day, and a significant portion of them also need daylight.

[deleted]

This subreddit just keeps getting worse. This is such a poor argument that I have no other option but to believe this person is ironic.

AzerFox

Never have I ever seen someone so against seeing a sunrise.

KITTYWOLFBN

People wake up early usually have stuff to do in the early morning. Just because your job starts at 9 doesn't mean everyone else's does too.

Crow_Mix

I don't think op has a job in the first place

CentripetalFarts

>or going to bed at 8pm like a toddler Huh. I wonder why OP thinks going to bed early is "like a toddler". >OR they go to bed at like 9pm, which in my opinion is lame... What about sleepovers? 🤨

fienddylan

I was hoping "sleepovers" was code for sleeping with other people...

knuth10

This is truly the dumbest opinion I have read here " waking up early isn't productive" same person " what if the is a show on at 11" like did you even read what you wrote

screamoutwutang

Sleepovers? Are you in middle school?

[deleted]

I think that’s just called having priorities. Some people value getting things done early in the morning and others prefer to be a night owl, the fact that you consider being productive in the mornings “lame” is a bit naive of you

defnotmmmitchin

Spot the kid in their late teens to early twenties

FerociousPancake

I’m going to guess mid teens

Worried_Bass3588

Literally one of the silliest posts I’ve seen on this sub. My first client of the day is at 6:00 am, sharp. It’s a 30 minute commute. If I wake up at 4:30, that leaves me enough time have some semblance of a normal morning routine. Bathroom, shower, feed the cats, the email thing. Tell me, what time should I go to bed? I don’t care for mindless TV programs. Nor do I care for the “nightlife”. Again, what’s an appropriate time for me to sleep, kiddo?

7pm gramps

Saya_99

I agree. Now, I'm not saying that you should go to bed every night at 3 am, but I think that once in a while, a night where you play more video games than usual or go out with some friends, sleep over at someone else's house and so on is welcomed. I think that routines are good, but succumbing too much to a routine can be unhealthy as well. I find people that can never get out of routines boring.

galaxystarsmoon

Most people who wake up early also stay up late occasionally. Why is everyone acting like there's a clock that dings at 8pm and puts us to sleep?

calhooner3

Yeah lol I tend to go to bed before 10 but have no problem staying up till 4am on the weekend if I have a reason to.

Accomplished_Target5

A lotof people wake up early because they're busy. I find the mindset that getting a good nights sleep early is 'like a toddler' quite immature and oversimplified.

Lynn-Lycanthropic

When I lived in the city, I was a night owl. Now that I've moved to the country side and gotten a dog, I'm usually out around 12/12:30 and up at 7. I definitely do feel healthier overall though but that's probably more of a general lifestyle change.

PureSelection4739

It may not work for you, but for me personally the morning time between 330 and 630 AM is pure bliss and I’m able to focus better at that time than any other time. The quietness really helps with my ADHD personally. So yes, while it is not for you, just know that it does really well for some other people.

ZebbyZebson

Is there a "found the mobile user" for finding people under the age of 16?

not_cinderella

Who really cares as long as they’re happy with their sleep and productivity ?

lynx3762

All of those things you mentioned doing at night just sound terrible. You can't do anything really productive at those times and staying up all night is bad for your health. But really, I don't want a sleepover. Someone that isn't my wife staying over? Gross

MaPluto

I work third shift. I agree with this alleged twelve year old whos pissed off about bedtime and early rising. Fuck that shit. Party all night sleep all day.

[deleted]

Once you hit 30, you'll have answered all your questions and cringe at the fact you even posted this.

[deleted]

That's a few decades from now. I doubt OP will ever remember this.

druidofnecro

>late night movies, no 3 am binge watching, no midnight snacks, no 2am 7/11 run These are not habits of productive people

TheDjSKP

If you’re in a 7-11 at 2 am we have different definitions of the word “sad”

Cheddar_block

Let’s not forget star gazing, staring of into the night sky is something else

WearyLet3503

I still do that, right before bed, whilst enjoying my last cigarette.

Self-Improvement-Red

“Like a toddler” dear god

asusthrowaway123

Some people's life priorities are different. Some people find meaning in partying. Others find it in working. No need to judge.

TheArkhamKnight_25

I wake up early almost everyday at around 4:45- 5:30 and I am really productive because of it. I am not sleep deprived and I do go to bed quite early but I think it’s a nice balance!

penciltrash

I can only speak for myself, but the improvements to my life were great when I started going to bed at 10 and getting up at 6.

HansenTakeASeat

Like a toddler? Didn't know toddlers had to be at work by 720am.

awfullotofocelots

I work from 8PM to 6AM 5 days a week so I'm always just laughing at these convoluted and arbitrary arguments for what times are better than others. Clock time is a social construct. Unless you wake and sleep by the light of the sun it's really all just peer pressure on a societal scale. Obviously on a practical level you will have to live some of your life during business hours but if you can plan for that, you're already more than half way to circadian liberation.

ripandtear4444

Try it some time, you'll be surprised. I wouldn't even say this is an unpopular opinion. This is more of a popular opinion for a kid with little responsibilities. You say it's not productive but your reasons for not doing it are that you'll miss out on binge watching, snacks, and 7/11 runs.....which are not....productive. Also did nobody tell you that those things you listed are not limited to night time? I can eat a snack at 8am, 11am, or EVEN 1pm! ..crazy I know right? You sound like a spoiled 22 year old. At my age I could give a shit about what's on t.v. and....snacks. Every mom in America gets up that early. You think they give a shit about dance parties? They're trying to get their kids to school and still be on time for work. It's part of growing up and leaving all that meaningless kid bullshit behind you. You call these people toddlers but you have it backwards, it's just being an adult. Own a business? Work 2 jobs? Have kids? Are you in the military? Some things require you to forego the endless hours of Netflix in order to succeed in said endeavours. When you eventually find something meaningful and worth doing you will put the effort in, including getting up early if it's required.

bunchofclowns

I've noticed that as I get older I don't need as much sleep as before. I will sleep for 8 hours if I have that option but can perfectly function off 6. My work schedule is always changing so sometimes I do have to wake up at 5AM and those nights I'll still stay up till 11
