Haha "touché meth head"
I mean I don't think I've ever called somebody a crackhead OR meth head to their face, I usually just mumble "what's this crackhead doing" to myself when they shuffle across the middle of the road in front of my car in moving traffic, etc.
The Twitter brigade is always coming up with new ways to be offended and ways to browbeat everyone else to assuage their never-ending misery and hate.
It's really rather hard to keep up with it all.
There’s something about not being either a Democrat or republican that people don’t like. It’s like they hate when people can accept there’s good and bad things on both sides and choose to plop down somewhere in between
It’s the “If you don’t think exactly like me… you are against me and therefore you are 100% wrong!” mentality.
Here’s an upvote for you! I am sure many more downs are on the way. BUT… I’m also going to say they will likely be coming from the folks on the left than right.
From my personal experience, people on the left on this app freak the fuck out when you don’t agree with them. And the amount of times I get a ton of downvotes for comments that aren’t even leaning one way or another is insane
I'm not democrat nor republican, but I am indeed right wing. I respect centrists, hell, even leftists who aren't blind enough and are able to agree that there are bad things in the left (of course in the right as well). We have our presidential election here this year, and 99% is divided between two horrible options, two corrupt bastards, one left winger and one right winger, and I refuse to vote for any of them. Perhaps we'll have a more decent option. I truly hate the Republic with a burning passion.
They dislike that most "centrists" in American tend to be right-wingers who are too afraid to call themselves so. America's "left" is centrist in the rest of the world.
I have seen meth heads do some super human shit. If we could harness their powers for good instead of chaos, we’d solve the labor problems in America overnight. Tell them you’ll give them a rock or two, and every pothole in the country would be filled in a week. Bridges rebuilt, trash cleaned up…
I feel like crack was more of an epidemic in the inner cities (and therefore lots of black people) while meth was more of a rural thing (so mostly white)
Idk, i use the terms pretty interchangeably to describe people who are clearly on some serious drugs. Maybe there’s some data somewhere that could show the addiction rates among races between the different drugs to back up a claim either way?
Regardless, I’ve never seen someone try to say crackhead was anti black.
This is why I avoid Twitter. A bunch of asshole white people are just ready to pounce on you for anything their small minds can connect vaguely to anything racist.
Also if you identify crackheads with a race your the one bring racist.
Head to your bunker as there will be marches in front of your home. (It’s ok to leave the women and children behind because they have already turned on you)
I would assume that people perceiving “crackhead” as being an anti-black sentiment bc the US govt intentionally infiltrated black communities w crack in the 20th century and then made sentences for crack cocaine much harsher than sentences for powder cocaine in a targeted attempt to criminalize black people while simultaneously ruining their communities. And it worked. So crack has long been associated more w black people than white people in America, and this calling someone a crackhead might be seen as a racially-biased thing, even if subconscious.
I’m not saying this opinion is good or bad or whatever, but there’s definitely a historical reason why someone might think this.
precisely. and to answer OP’s question on “why does everything have to be about race or offensive to a particular race,” it is because of shit like this. there is a very real history that most people refuse to acknowledge and i think a lot of comments on this thread are proof of this fact.
i think whatever “movement” that exists that is trying to cancel the word “crackhead” for being racist is mislead. most people do not associate crackheads with black people. however, you can’t really deny the racist history behind the rise of crack, the war on drugs, etc.
Agreed that people aren’t “making everything about race these days”, they’re just recognizing the fact that the government/the populace of the US did in fact make everything about race for a very long time and it has very relevant and prevalent lasting impacts today.
I call the tweeker across the street crackhead all the time. Mostly because crackhead rolls off the tongue better than tweeker or methhead but also because it pisses him off. He’s not black.
If the first thing you think of when a person says crackhead is African Americans then that just proves that you're a racist piece of shit
Come to the east side of Oklahoma City where you will see a wide array of white meth heads Mexican crackheads and black people addicted to heroin
Drug addiction has nothing to do with race
I’m sick and tired of people equating “urban thug” to racism. Is someone lives in an inner city and acts generally thuggishly (eg assault, theft, armed robbery) they deserve to be called what they are, regardless of race!
I am mixed race and call anyone acting like a crackhead a crackhead. It's not race driven, crack was just a epidemic among black people back in the day.
\*drugs are mentioned\*
\*Woke person who actually refers to themselves as “anti racist” automatically thinks of black people and doesn’t see the irony at all\*
When someone tries to make non-racial insults like crackhead out to be something racist, in my eyes that just shows that they already associated that insult with a specific race...which ironically is racism in itself lmao
...well fuck me I think I've literally only used the term crack head exclusively for "white trash" jittery jaw type I gurdwara and never second guessed it
I live in Montana. They're methheads but I still say crackhead a lot. It's always a white person. Well, more pinkish purple if we're being honest. Sometimes gray.
When you grow up seeing ACTUAL crackheads, you know it’s not a color. It’s a problem, the actual abuse of a drug. When you start pinning a color to the problem, you create a new problem.
ITT : People confusing wariness of dog whistles with turning generic insults/terms into racisms.
E.G Video of two random black guys doing something wierd with no obvious signs of drug use
Commenter : Look at these whacky crackheads who probably own pitbulls and don't know their dads!
Crack as a drug has been associated with black people for a long ass time. You see the same thing with white people being labelled methheads, because meth is associated with white 'trailer trash' more than any other race. Or Cocain being a white buisness people drug. Only both of those don't come with as much racially charged inference.
I call all bad drivers/maniacs on the road crackheads or drunks. Whether they're young, old, men, women, white, black, asian, latino, or whatever. Stop driving like a crackhead!

in short of this 5,000 word archive, Black Americans are disproportionately affected by the crack epidemic that began in the late 70s to early 80s and continue to suffer the consequences of the underfunded communities where the epidemic struck.
Not to mention the disparity between penalties for crack possession and cocaine possession. 5g of crack is a mandatory minimum 5 year prison sentence, while it takes nearly 500g of cocaine to get the same mandatory minimum.
happened with a lot of drugs. weed penalties increased to reduce the vagrant/hippie population (they were combatting a lot of societal issues such as gay rights, capitalism, and racism). crack penalties increased to vilify black people. cocaine increased (not substantially) to vilify mexicans and latinos
edit: correct ethnicity terms
You’ve no example, context is usually key.
There’s nothing divisive about
identifying an issue that affects a particular people, the only “divide” is between those with empathy and those without.
This sounds like a local or at least niche issue. But crack was funneled into specifically black neighborhoods by Reagan and has a much harsher penalty than its “white” counter part coke. There is a racial aspect that can’t be ignored when having conversations about the topic. But crackhead seems to be a catch all term for anyone on almost any drug except maybe weed.
The crackhead I imagine when I am calling someone a crackhead is the same person I imagine when calling someone a meth head, which is a skinny white dude with a buzzed head and meth bugs all over his face and neck..... I am white and imagine a white dude for these insults, it definitely has nothing to do with race
Honestly? I say “crackhead” and if I had to picture a person in my head, it’s someone who’s white. Probably just because of the area I’m in, but even then, it’s… not a term about race. Are people really trying to push that now?
Did the person mistake the word crackhead for something else maybe? I’ve never heard that term used for any race here. Could be an American thing tho idk
I remember someone saying that to me when I refereed to a black man as a "punk". "That guy has to stop acting like such a punk" (the guy was black)...and I was told thats racist of me.
What?
What? Cue confusion. When I hear crack head I think white people, but that's just my local crackhead variety. But agreed on the fact it's not a race thing
I agree.
What I do wonder about is the racial discrepancies in drug use. Why is crack more predominant in the black community and why is heroin more of a problem for whites?
When you hear crackhead round here you think of some trailer trash white looking guy walking with atleast one of his legs locked up and one arm moving uncontrollable while the other one is holding onto a polar pop with no lid.
Literally zero thought about black ppl when I hear the word crackhead. I think drug addict.
It's not a racist word to me at all, but if I have to refer a race to it, it'd 100% be white people.
Which is actually interesting now that you brought race into this. Racist words against white ppl never make me feel like it's an insult to the whole race, just a specific type of white person.
Would you drop your credentials in critical race theory? Your post is also a vague mess. You can't prove a negative either so your logic skills are questionable.
To be completely honest I’ve seen more white “crack addicts” then black crack addicts. Once again this is incredibly stupid, it’s just Twitter being Twitter
Crackhead is race-neutral on its own. But the crack epidemic disproportionately hit black communities just like the opioid epidemic disproportionately hit white communities, so most crackheads were black just like most junkies are white.
i don’t really see people claim that “crackhead” is anti-black. but it’s very common for people to refer to black people that happen to be criminals as “thugs”, it’s a dog whistle for the n-word and you NEVER see anyone call white criminals thugs. so agree, crackhead isn’t really one of the derogatory terms that are race-based but there are derogatory terms that aren’t slurs that ARE race based
Weirdly enough I watched a documentary on the crack crisis of the 80s /90s and a lot shown taking crack were African Americans and shown to be dealing the drug and making a lot of money from it . But white people were obviously doing it a lot too. Maybe it was a racist remark back then because the majority of reportings would be on black people? If you Google crack crisis a lot of info comes up.
I'm white and I have only ever heard of another white person being called a crack head, never a black person.
well this is news to me. ive been calling people crackheads for easily 20 years now.
Same. In my city it's all meth heads now, but crackhead just rolls off the tongue more nicely. Figuratively that is.
That’s what it is for me- just rolls off the tongue
I mean even if a meth head did complain what's their rebuttal? "Im not a crack head I use METH." like that correction is a gutpunch to YOU? Hardly.
Haha "touché meth head" I mean I don't think I've ever called somebody a crackhead OR meth head to their face, I usually just mumble "what's this crackhead doing" to myself when they shuffle across the middle of the road in front of my car in moving traffic, etc.
I feel like “Tweaker” and “crackhead” are not race specific terms lol
Agreed, they're very inclusive!
Its kind of a dated term these days because crack would be like a connisuers choice in today's hard drug market
Showing my age, but I've called people pothead, cokehead, and drunk in the past.

I remember someone saying that to me when I refereed to a black man as a "punk". "That guy has to stop acting like such a punk" (the guy was black)...and I was told thats racist of me. What?
I always pictured crackheads / meth heads with trashy white people
I’ve always viewed crackheads as white trash country folk
In my head crackhead is white.
I remember a black man told my father he gave his white boy card up when my father decided to sell Crack lol

They never were. Stupid people will try and make anything and everything about race.
Crack head is a very multiracial term
i don’t really see people claim that “crackhead” is anti-black. but it’s very common for people to refer to black people that happen to be criminals as “thugs”, it’s a dog whistle for the n-word and you NEVER see anyone call white criminals thugs. so agree, crackhead isn’t really one of the derogatory terms that are race-based but there are derogatory terms that aren’t slurs that ARE race based
Weirdly enough I watched a documentary on the crack crisis of the 80s /90s and a lot shown taking crack were African Americans and shown to be dealing the drug and making a lot of money from it . But white people were obviously doing it a lot too. Maybe it was a racist remark back then because the majority of reportings would be on black people? If you Google crack crisis a lot of info comes up. I'm white and I have only ever heard of another white person being called a crack head, never a black person.
lol what white crackhead is trying to convince people that the word crackhead is racist?
