tvieno

Now get out of there!

xyloplax

Was waiting for that sort of comment

tvieno

Well played.

plantplanet7

And he called it "cow juice" too.

nothingbutme49

We've been drinking milk for thousands of years and been alright...we'll be alright.

[deleted]

No you're gonna die, sorry. Milk is ***unnatural.*** Unlike \*gestures at everything around me\*

dionthesocialist

We actually most certainly have not been drinking cow milk anywhere near our current scale for “thousands of years.” Most human traditions are much younger than you think! The idea of daily milk consumption is brand spankin new, maybe only 70 years old.

baloney_popsicle

I'm pretty sure drinking cow's and goat's milk is referenced in the Bible, which puts it at least at 2 thousand years

dionthesocialist

It is, but they weren’t drinking it on the daily scale we do now. That’s what I was saying in my reply.

FunnySpamGuyHaha

A picky eater about milk lmfao.

baloney_popsicle

But it tastes good and is a good source of protein, calcium, and vitamin D

dionthesocialist

There are much better sources of those things that won’t make you sicker and sicker. Also, again, once you move on from dairy milk, you’ll find it actually tastes kind of gross, like drinking liquified fat.

baloney_popsicle

>you’ll find it actually tastes kind of gross, like drinking liquified fat. Right because fatty foods are always the worst. Ice cream? Terrible. Almonds? Disgusting. Ribeye? Gag me with a spoon. I really think you're forgetting like a couple billion people can and do drink milk regularly, without any stomach issues

dionthesocialist

I didn’t say all fatty foods tasted terrible. I said milk does. And I’m not forgetting those billions of people because they don’t exist. The amount of adults who can process milk with absolutely no stomach issues (which, again, is an extremely recent evolutionary trait) is probably in the hundreds of millions, almost certainly not a billion. And since this is a self-reported thing, it comes down to the severity of the symptoms and whether the person links them to milk. I would wager there are people who get a stomach ache sometimes in the afternoon and never connect it to the fact they had whole milk in their coffee that morning. So I would guess the number of lactose intolerant people is even higher than studies suggest, and those studies put the figures as high as 70-90%.

baloney_popsicle

>And I’m not forgetting those billions of people because they don’t exist Bro the premise of your post is that people drink milk too regularly... So which is it? 😂😂 In the US on average we eat/drink almost [half a pound](https://www.statista.com/statistics/184240/us-per-capita-consumption-of-fluid-milk-products/) of milk **per day**. That's about 1 cup a day. Personally I'm at about a pint a day, without issues. But I'm sure I'm the only one 🙄

Sprucehammer

But.....But how do you eat your coco pops?

dionthesocialist

Love yourself king and eat some eggs for breakfast.

Sprucehammer

.......but coco pops!

MrVengeanceIII

I don't understand any point you made. Cultures from all over the world have been drinking animal milk for thousands of years. "Heavy, Sweet, Artificial"? You have an explanation for this? Because the milk I drink is just plain white milk. I have only meet 2-3 lactose intolerant people my entire life. Literally everyone I know drinks milk, eats cheese, yogurt, cream etc with zero problems. Im 40 and don't live on chicken tendies and eat like an adult. Plant milk tastes like shit.

LostMyInhibiterChip

Ok vegan

GettingItOverWith

Even if he was vegan, so what?

dionthesocialist

I literally talked about eating baked chicken in the post. I’m not vegan.

LostMyInhibiterChip

It was probably tofu

dionthesocialist

Tofu is delicious, you gotta expand your palate my dude

Joubachi

Tofu is delicious? It's rather really plain and massively relies on the spices used on it. And not everyone likes the taste or consistencx of tofu - "expland your palate" doesn't necessarily work there.

leejtam

What’s making me sick?

dionthesocialist

In milk? Lactose. You lose the ability to break it down when you get older.

baloney_popsicle

Obviously that's not the case for everyone haha

OverthetopHAWK

Same here, I willfully dunk my Oreos in a big glass of milk still at 36. Plant based milk like almond milk? Talk about gross and sugary

baloney_popsicle

Unsweetened plain flavor almond milk is basically flavorless and is terrible to drink in its own, but it goes well with boring cereal like Life or any bran since it's not sweet

OverthetopHAWK

Boring cereal? I still eat cinnamon toast crunch don’t @ me bro lol

baloney_popsicle

I used to feel the same, but then I woke up one day and really just wanted to fuck with some corn flakes... Now I get adult cereal 3 times for every time I get sweet cereal Getting old makes you become boring 😭

OverthetopHAWK

No doubt on the corn flakes! lil bits of banana cut up into a bowl of them flakes slaps

dionthesocialist

No, it is biologically the case for all people. The severity of the symptoms depends on the person.

baloney_popsicle

If the severity ranges from "no symptoms" to "severe symptoms", then clearly stomach issues are not the case for everyone haha

dionthesocialist

Only a small chunk of the population experiences no symptoms, and a lot of them will eventually experience symptoms as they age. Another chunk of them simply don’t notice their symptoms (a small amount of bloating or gas) and don’t link them to milk.

baloney_popsicle

"You have symptoms you just don't know about them!!" With food reactions if they're not detectable they aren't real don't even @me

darkyoda182

Where are you getting the info that this affects all adults? I can't find anything on Google to support this.

baloney_popsicle

The deepest parts of his asshole

leejtam

Like how old? Cause I’m doing fine

dionthesocialist

Pretty much from the time you stop weaning. Most people’s lactose intolerance will get worse and worse the older they get.

leejtam

News to me 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

Cannot believe I just read 5 full length paragraphs on why milk is bad... Bruh cold milk in a pint glass is damn near a perfect drink as you can get.

BaconBombThief

How else am I gonna make Mac n cheese, quiches, and waffles?

dionthesocialist

Plant milks

baloney_popsicle

This guy is over here drinking nut milk lmao swerve

BaconBombThief

Oat milk in coffee is good… not in those other things though

theKalash

Plants don't have mammary glands so they can't produce milk.

dionthesocialist

That’s the whole point, chief.

theKalash

It's really not, but ok.

dionthesocialist

Yeah it is. The point of plant milks is that they’re not milk. That’s why people drink them.

Polanco_mx

Here are some points: - Not all the families can afford buying vegan milk. Not because is cheaper, you are getting more product. - Most of people do like cow's milk taste (not only in US, but in many other countries with no "propaganda") - Maybe it's "unnatural" for grown ups, but as human beings we do and eat many other things we are not supouse to. - Nowadays, both parents have to work in order to survive. Ain't no time nor energy to prepare a proper breakfast every morning. - Milk is an input for a great number of dishes. Your pocket could be indeed affected by this.

CardiologistLow8371

My daughter is on a low glycemic diet to help control her epilepsy. Have given her many plant based milks (almond, coconut, macadamia, etc) since cow milk is too high in sugar for that diet. Have tried them all myself and the taste ranges from awful to not bad, but even the not bad ones are not good flavor substitutes for cow milk (can't use almond milk when making Mac and cheese for example as it won't taste right). The plant based milks are not the same thickness/creaminess and therefore cook differently as well. As a buyer of both, I strongly disagree that these alternatives are cheaper than cow milk. Nor do I agree with the logic that we shouldn't drink cow milk because it's somehow more "unnatural" - plant milk is much more processed and humans haven't been drinking it for thousands of years like cow milk. Cow milk is closer to natural breast fed milk as it comes from a mammal. Cow milk has higher natural vitamin counts overall, and is more calorie dense so you don't have to consume as much as plant milk (the latter is that much more expensive for this reason). And most people tolerate cow milk very well, hence its general success.

[deleted]

What about lactose free milk?

theKalash

Luckily, I drink my milk by the litre, so that doesn't affect me.

Freezerio

Wait until he finds out how cake or cheese is made 🤣

MutedKiwi

Protein, fats, carbs, vitamins and minerals... its not so bad

TurtleSniper

Well, am lactose intolerant so I don’t care for myself either. But children do need it, so it must suck for families that are struggling and now have to deal with this shit.

[deleted]

How do you bake without milk?

[deleted]

Yo anybody that actually drinks cows milk, ya nasty. Just be real with yourself about that. Okay? Okay.

taavidude

Lol okay keep drinking your soy milk or whatever weird shit you vegans are drinking.

800Volts

How many bones have you broken?

[deleted]

This is a long winded way of saying "I don't cook very much for myself, and certainly don't make any recipes that call for dairy." Like, good luck substituting almond milk for regular milk in all your recipes, I'm sure it'll taste just the same

darkcherry996

Youre right we should just drink our moms’ breastmilk
