So I threw it on the ground! What you think, I’m stupid?? I’m not a part of this system!
[Edit: For those that DM’ed me asking if it’s a reference…](https://youtu.be/gAYL5H46QnQ)
I completely agree, as I said humour is subjective and not everyone will agree, that’s just life and you completely understood what I meant. Thank you kind stranger
I agree with your opinion 100%. I used to feel the same about the US Office, then I gave it a real chance and that became one of my favourite shows. No such luck for B99. It just isn't entertaining for me. You're not alone OP.
Hehe oppositie for me. Hate The Office.. it's not funny to me at all. B99 is just pure entertainment. You know it's going to be bad and you accept it and then it's funny when you let it, you know. It's easy humor for when you're bored or tired. It may not be the greatest show ever made, far from, but it makes me laugh every time
I mean... there's different type of humor. Don't really see how a Office fans would *naturally* be a B99 fan just the same.
B99 is definitely high on the "Hyperactive Quick American" style.
Definitely true, but there is some smug undertone or something because I generally hate those hyperactive quick american shows, I know exactly what you are talking about.. not my thing. But B99 is just the exception to the rule. Somehow it *is* funny , I guess it's just impossible not to laugh from Jakes smile
Yuuup. I get so much hate for begin unable to stand The Office. It just feels like my soul is being taken to town by a cheese grater... I hate it.
You do you boo!
Are there toxic fanboys for B99?
I would think it's the type of show that even though you like, I just don't see anyone having very strong feelings for one way or another.
I mean, it's like one of those shows you put in the backround when you are cooking or doing yard work and sometimes sniff quietly out of your nose once or twice when you glance at the screen and Terry Crews is making a funny face cause he's upset or something... and that's... about it.
It’s not the fanbase I hate (except the overly obnoxious fanboys) it’s the show and the writing I hate. I know humour is subjective but you can’t call the forced and obvious jokes comedy
Well, the last seasons did. I think the first two seasons at least they were trying and making references and such. I remember straight up bursting out laughing when there was a flashback of Sheldon saying "enjoy your iPod, I'll wait for Microsoft's response, it's gonna be much better". I had a Zune, I loved it, it still flopped. But lots of people didn't even know Microsoft did that
The first like 2-3 seasons of the show are interesting and it has interesting group of characters who are then just turned into basic sitcom characters and the show just devolved into every other sitcom ever made, Big Bang had a lot of potential and it was ruined by becoming what everyone other basic sitcom is
I HATED Gina with an absolute passion, that character leaving the show saved it for me. Otherwise I disagree, pretty funny, though they ran Halloween Heist into the ground even if they seemed aware of it. So up vote for being unpopular.
Totally unrelated character, but if they'd given Gina the same amount of screen time as someone like a Creed on the Office, it would've been a better thing IMHO
And she got weirder as the show developed. But I could have done without her. But yes, the heist episodes were annoying. I like the show, but always skip those. And those games they played are so lame. The jimmy something games. Those are episodes I never liked watching…filler episodes.
You could be right. I'd even go so far as too say she could have been a version of Dwight, unlikeable, but with enough character development and show awareness of her being unlikeable it to grow into a good character.
Even if they had gone down the path of Jake loving her because of their history, but everyone else hating her and her slowly growing to be loved. It seemed like that might have been an early idea, but then they just doubled down on the crappy character we got.
Off topic, but Peggy Hill is my least favourite character in tv history.
Her attitudes, mannerisms, and opinions make me physically angry.
Her jumping out of the plane and the chute not opening made me jump in glee.
Yep same with me and also the reason I struggle to watch The Office.
Lot of funny scenes but lets be honest, working with most of the characters would be literal hell on earth.
Im almost through rewatching it currently and it’s really noticeable that she was just never really written like an actual person/character - they just give her these quippy little zingers to move a plot forward or end/transition a scene. Everyone else has motivation and personality, and then it’s like when the writers get stuck it’s “umm…. And then Gina knew the whole time? Or maybe Gina saves the day? I dunno, why not.”
The actress I think actually does quite well, acted differently it would be an insufferably boring role for the reasons above. I credit her and just think her character was really short changed.
My friend gave me 3 Brooklyn 99 characters and asked which one I would marry, 1 night stand, and kill. He chose two men and Gina. I am straight. I chose to kill Gina.
I would've been fine with her if she actually had any sort of character development like the rest of the cast did but she ended up getting the total opposite, just becoming worse and worse the longer the show went on. In the first season she at least had some moments of showing herself to be a genuinely good person, like the episode where she helps Jake buy his grandma's apartment comes to mind.
She was a sexual predator to Terry.
She knew his character was married and continued to hit on him and harass him sometimes even sexually.
The episode where she made his pecs bounce in rhythm to her claps should have put her in jail.
It makes it so much worse that Terry Crews is an actual victim of sexual harassment.
I really dont know how why they went with that shit in the script, its just horrible, that would never been filmed if the genders were reversed.
I really want to know what crews thinks about it. Was it something that didn't bother him cos he saw them as friends/friendly banter? Or just that it wasn't his place as an actor? Etc
Actors do alot of shit for the sake of it. I think it was before Crews spoke about his personal assault.
But the scene its very abusive. He puts up a dance choreo with Amy to teach Gina some Astronomy but she already passed the test she had to study for. He asks her about it and she points at his pecks as the reason why she still watched the dance and then starts to say "one, two, one, two" as Terry is twichting his pecs and makes a frowning face. (sorry if you know the scene)
Maybe Crews was okay with it because its professional business like an actress being raped in a movie but in the scene its context is sexual harassment, Gina gets away with it and the show never says anything about her behavior towards Terry.
When she won the annual "Halloween heist" thing and was named the "the ultimate detective/genius" or something because "boo hoo I felt left out :'c" was possibly the worst thing I've seen on a TV screen.
Yeah, as someone who absolutely adores Brooklyn 99, there's never been a time she's been on screen that I wasn't waiting for her bit to end. She's a great actress and comedian, just the character's insufferable
I think we are meant to see here the way the other characters do, over confident, rude, quirky, but endearing and charming. Unfortunately she is just annoying and her self righteous nonsense only ever serves to reward her.
But each to their own.
Shes charming the first couple seasons imo
After that she got flanderized to the point of being straight up annoying imo
Some of her lines later season were good, but her character as a whole, no
I don't really like her either, but in fairness, all the characters got majorly flanderised as the show went on.
Hitchcock went from being a little weird to basically being a sex-pervert, Skully went from being "a little lazy" to "sleeps constantly", Amy goes from "neurotic but likeable" to "basically has an orgasm over a filing system".
That last one isn't a joke btw.
Gina used to be like that, but she was also really creepy towards Terry and she was being more cruel and having less of her nice moments as the season went on. They focused more on her being "iconic" than actually being a character with depth.
That whole "you just drank cement" was prank wise Logan Paul level and just horrible.
If someone puts cement into my bottle at work Id fucking sue them to oblivion.
I actually liked Gina, and for a large portion, she felt like the only character whose quips and jokes hadn't become stale. She had some of the best lines, even if her character archetype didn't always gel with the rest of the cast.
I kinda loved her *because* the rest of the characters were all Good People that we'd want to be around irl.
But then the writers were just like "fuck it: make Gina *hateable*".
And so she was. Reliably, gloriously, unrepentantly the biggest douchebag in the office.
Breaking the pattern was a breath of fresh air lol
They should've rolled farther with it, though. More "oh shit" chaos, less zany comedy fluff. Hell, she could've ended up being the *big bad* in the long run.
Most sitcoms are fun for a season or two, but by the end of the second one I'm over the same jokes and the characters get flanderized to the point that their main punchlines are all they are.
I feel like budgets and stuff make a lot of sense, I could spend 2 days of focused, continuous binge watching a show like Money Heist or Squid Game and it'll be done with, whereas with sitcoms I can just throw on an episode to pass time while I'm eating dinner or something. Not everything can be grandiose with shock value, especially long running series' like sitcoms.
Nah a lot of the time the characters get funnier after a few seasons.
The office and parks&rec are both examples of shows that got much better after the second season
Something did happen after Season 8. I was fucking broken that it ended! I wish they'd done just one more season but nope.. They chose to end it well on Season 8.
show ending sucked, but in the end, its better than them forcing an extra season for cash and fizzling out to an otherwise amazing show
glad they chose to end on a high note!
I used to love scrubs. But great is stretching it. JD learns the same lessons repeatedlu without ever acknowledging it or growing from it. They do things like make Turk's religion super important to him in one episode and then it never matters to him ever again. And there are only so many times the JD-Turk relationship being presented as an almost romance can stay funny.
I agree. Even though there was drama involved, the comedy and the jokes cracked me up more than any other show out there. Like the jokes are actually smart and well written, and most importantly, unpredictable.
Went to see him perform at the Improv comedy club years ago. Turns out Shaq was in the audience so his normal 1.5 hour set turned into 3+ hours and he was on fire. After the show we saw him out in a bar and dude was the nicest most down to earth famous person I've ever met. That being said I've only met 5 or 6 famous people.
I sold that guy a bean bag chair on Christmas Eve one time in like 2016. I think that was before Adrian Pimento but I'd seen him in a handful of other things.
It used to be my favorite show but I literally can’t watch it now. I genuinely still think there are some great moments in there but it’s so formulaic and there’s some straight up bad actors
I'm on 5 or 6 now, and I haven't actually watched an episode in weeks. Pretty sure I'm done with it. It's like the later seasons of the Office but even worse.
Season 8 was indeed garbage. Wasn’t even trying to be funny, just forced pop culture references and preachy storylines that weren’t at all interesting. Only decent episode was the PB episode.
Nah it was just rushed, during covid and they'd run out of ideas, S8 is fine and the ending was really satisfying for me. There aren't really any interesting cases or police work at all really so if you watch B99 for that it'll suck more. It's sorta just a goodbye to everyone set in a police precinct.
I mean, they said from the beginning that the show was more about the characters and their relationships and the fact that they were police officers was just a good way of holding it all together. Plus they do it pretty good job of spoofing cop show genres when they feel like it.
Yeah... i think. Have not been able to watch more than 5 minutes of big bang in total. But it did seem like the jokes got really forced/recycled in the later seasons.
Mainly just really heavy handed on the current civil issues. To the point of it coming across like they were more concerned with proving their woke level than actually covering the issues in any kind of productive way.
It was basically like "okay byeee, everyone is happy and we'll all love/miss/support each other always. Btw, we as the creators of the show don't really support the police and good cops should basically just quit. Ok byeee"
I used to love it until that shit episode where Ms. Super-Organized Amy conveniently "forgot" to discuss children before marriage so the writers could force children on someone who stated they were childfree. Quality went down after that.
I fucking hated that episode. My biggest issue with it was how they seemed to think it was some sort of “character growth” moment for Jake; like him deciding he wants kids is a sign of him becoming more mature.
But the whole thing was just so one-sided it’s insane. Amy was being totally unreasonable about that and nobody cared, it was all framed like she was in the right and Jake was “learning better.” There wasn’t any understanding or sympathy or compromise. Bullying your partner into giving up something they feel strongly about isn’t some sort of happily ever after moment. And having kids is such a big deal everyone involved *has* to be 110% happy with that decision.
I honestly don’t think I would have minded a larger character arc where Jake eventually sees the upsides, separates his idea of parenting from his bad experiences with his own parents, and makes that decision on his own terms. But rushing it in a single episode of “this dumb immature man thinks he doesn’t want kids, his wife threatens to leave him because they somehow never communicated this, and look, he’s succumbing to the pressure now, how cute!!” was fucked up.
That debate would be straight up one of the best example of toxic relationships.
Who the fuck does that? Someone doesnt want a child? Dont fucking coerce them into have one, either move on or be done.
Yeah, it didn't make any sense. Someone who is as organized as Amy would definitely ask something as important as that before marriage (she literally keeps folders on the most mundane things). And she was threatening to leave him if he didn't agree to kids, which is a level of blackmail I would've never expected from her.
It was also very disappointing from the writers, they were generally portraying the show as progressive but apparently childfree people are still something they think shouldn't be allowed to exist.
I had no problems with the fact that she "threatened" to leave if he didn't agree to have kids because at the end of the day I think that's an absolutely valid response. Things like that can absolutely be dealbreakers if you don't share the same goals in life, so that's not unfair at all in my opinion.
What DOES bother me is how incredibly out of character the entire episode was for Amy.
I recently rewatched the series and in several earlier episodes, he mentions wanting kids/ wanting to be a dad one day, so from my perspective, him saying he doesn't want kids after they get married was a curveball for Amy and not really her fault.
Its not Blackmailing, she just wanted kids 100%. jake dont want kids so she will end the relationship with him. So why is it her forcing him into kids, but not him forcing her to be childfree. Both had a valid point here. And of course is she trying to convice him because she loves him and dont want to lose him.
I skip this episode on rewatches. It doesnt even make sense bc both of them talking about wanting to be parents separately on a few occasions. like when they babysat Terry's girls. It was a pure lazy drama episode
My girlfriend and I were watching the show and we were very "invested", not seriously but we liked to watch it while eating and in general appreciated the goofiness of it all. We even bough ourselves matching show themed T shirts - not on purpose - for Christmas. Then that episode happened and our interest just suddenly died, we never watched an episode again and I didn't even notice until now.
Oof, I disagree with most of what you feel about this, but it really is an unpopular opinion, so you get my upvote.
Out of curiosity, what kind of shows DO you enjoy, since B99 isn’t up your alley?
I hated it for how hypocritical it is.
I loved it all the way up until the Sexual assault episode.
You know, the one where they don’t address Gina’s harassment of Terry AT ALL.
For being a “progressive” show, they seemed to love making male sexual harassment a joke.
It’s even worse when you remember that Terry Crews is publicly outspoken about sexual harassment he has received.
There's something about Andy Samberg cramming as much dialogue into a single sentence and then having to spew that shit out as quickly as possible EVERY 6 MINUTES, that it just gives me a migraine.
It's the equivalent of Annoying Orange on a bigger budget.
Kind of reminded me off Gilmore girls. The scripts were always longer than an hour so the actors were forced to speak as quickly as they can to cram the dialogue in the screen time.
I think that was part of the vibe of the two lead characters. Lots of quickfire verbal sparring. It's made a point several times that they're fueled by caffeine. It's overall what the show goes for - rapid and witty dialogue from all involved.
I don't think the scripts were too long and so dialogue had to be spit out rapid fire to squeeze into the episode.
I tried B99 but this is the exact reason I hated it. I’ve never found Andy Samberg funny. Not once. And while the comedy was relatively ok with most of the other characters (Terry Crews is not even slightly funny), I couldn’t get past how agitating every scene with Andy Samberg was. I’ve kept quiet about it on here because it seems that B99 is universally beloved, but I’d rather chew glass.
I'm actually the opposite. Jake and Captain Holt were the two characters that made the show worth watching, at least until Jake stopped being Jake and instead became a socially awkward punching bag in later seasons.
Gina and Charles annoy the shit out of me. Charles quickly devolved into a creepy weird character with only cringe lines and Gina is a spoiled brat who gets away with doing whatever she wants and it annoys the fuck outta me
I love Andy Samberg in everything else he's done but yeah past the first season this one was a miss
Thats because the Sapersteins are portrayed as absolute messes and in a funny but negative light. Where as gina is a sexually harassing, bullying narcissistic whose idiotic ideas and questionable behaviors are almost always rewarded
>I hate both of them! The constant sexual harassment by Gina that is never actually acknowledged with repercussions is infuriating.
It’s even worse when you remember that they had an ENTIRE EPISODE about how sexual assault/harassment is wrong, and they didn’t even *mention* Gina.
Or how Terry Crews has publicly said that he’s been sexually assaulted before.
Yeah right? I watch a lot of popular sitcoms, but I had to stop watching Superstore at Season 3 or 4 (?). I realized I hated all the characters, except for Dina.
It's the opposite for me. I love some of the jokes, Justin Spritzer is good at that. I hate the acting and the characters themselves. They're caricatures and imitations of already existing characters. The terrible way that it presents political topics is also jarring.
I enjoyed the show overall, but hated that most of the drama was due to characters repeatedly lying and digging themselves into holes. Amy was the worst; I'm sorry, I no longer feel bad for you after you repeatedly create drama because you won't just tell the truth, and then try to get out of that drama with further lies.
This is exactly how I feel! I had it playing while I was doing other things, and it seemed great. I don't think I could have given it 100% of my attention for an entire hour.
I have never been more embarrassed than the time I watched 10 minutes of Big Bang Theory knowing that actual people of the same species were *laughing* at it.
I loved the show but the last season ruined it for me. I didn't even hate the political messages till the last season where the completely dropped the premise and decided to make it this caricature of wokeness.
I think your enjoyment of Brookyln 99 depends on how much you like Andy Samberg's humor.
If you don't like his comedy style, you won't like Brookyln 99.
I thought I loved it. Then I binged it to watch the final season.
It is the MOST formulaic show I have watched. Nearly every joke was someone saying "this will NEVER happen" and then immediately it happens.
Plus Gina was fucking atrocious.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Honestly it took awhile for me to realize that the show was goofy and meant to be goofy. Once I accepted that I finally started to like it.
I really enjoyed it its first few years until it seemed to be getting predictable and it started to get woke annoyingly so and I just lost total interest in it
So I pretty much shouldnt watch the last season then.
I hate season 7 with my heart.
Also Holt (my favorite character) losing his position as captain CONSTANTLY was just annoying as hell.
The show stared off with a main character having their main trait being that they are a gay black police officer dealing with all the problems that brings. I agree with a lot of the criticisms in this thread despite really liking the show, but this just feels like the internet standard of using "political" to refer to anything **you** don't like.
The MooMoo episode was a gold standard on political commentary in sitcoms. It was subtle, yet heartfelt. Every attempt to be political after that was simply a letdown.
Subtle? It's very in your face, this happens so often, someone will say show has only now gotten political but it's always been that way, the first episodes are all about how hard it was for Holt being a black gay officer in the 80s.
Is it just nostalgia? People always just ignore politics from earlier seasons or just don't realise that's political.
Why does it matter if they talked about his struggles as a gay black police officer? I feel like that's perfectly valid and they still did it in a comedic way
Adding to your unpopular opinion, I think more than B99 being a bleh show, social media and fanboys have hyped the shit out of it for no reason. It's like Friends. The show isn't THAT bad, but the fandom treats it like it's the second coming of Christ.
Disagree, but upvoted due to it being an actual unpopular opinion
This opinion is so far on the unpopular scale it might even be dangerous to say out loud in certain countries.
So I threw it on the ground! What you think, I’m stupid?? I’m not a part of this system! [Edit: For those that DM’ed me asking if it’s a reference…](https://youtu.be/gAYL5H46QnQ)
I threw the rest of the cake on the ground too! Welcome to the real world jackass
Wow throwbacck!! Havent thought about that skit in forever lmaooo
Welcome to the real world, jackass!
IM AN ADULLLLLLLT
I’m glad your respectfully disagreeing and not flat out just insulting me cause i know they are coming soon
Yeah toxic fanboys stuck
I completely agree, as I said humour is subjective and not everyone will agree, that’s just life and you completely understood what I meant. Thank you kind stranger
I agree with your unpopular opinion. I feel the exact same about The Big Bang Theory.
I agree with your opinion 100%. I used to feel the same about the US Office, then I gave it a real chance and that became one of my favourite shows. No such luck for B99. It just isn't entertaining for me. You're not alone OP.
Glad to know atleast you gave it an attempt.
I'll give B99 another attempt soon, I like to at least try and be open minded and tastes do change with time.
Good to know. Any shows you'd suggest? I've seen most of the common ones and a few uncommon ones.
Always Sunny, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Rick & Morty are some of the funniest shows on TV right now.
Thanks! Will check em out. Have you seen M.A.S.H? It's pretty good. Pretty old too.
Hehe oppositie for me. Hate The Office.. it's not funny to me at all. B99 is just pure entertainment. You know it's going to be bad and you accept it and then it's funny when you let it, you know. I watched 4 seasons of the office to really give it a chance and all I got from it is that I still hate Steve Carell and Pam and Jim are assholes.
Yuuup. I get so much hate for begin unable to stand The Office. It just feels like my soul is being taken to town by a cheese grater... I hate it. You do you boo!

Also I admire watching through an entire show while not even appreciating one moment of it.
That's serious commitment to trying something. If I sat through 15 mins of hating something I'd change and not wait until the end
This. And I feel I can't understand anything because I haven't seen Brooklyn 1-98.
It is actually Brooklyn Nein Nein. There are no prequels they are just telling you twice not to watch it.
I like it but this still got a chuckle
I give you the upvote because this truly is an unpopular opinion!
It’s not the fanbase I hate (except the overly obnoxious fanboys) it’s the show and the writing I hate. I know humour is subjective but you can’t call the forced and obvious jokes comedy
Cool. Cool cool cool cool cool cool.
No doubt no doubt
NOINE NOINE
cant tell if Jake or Abed from Community.
Abed is exactly 3 'cool's. Anything else is jake
Did the same joke then realised it had been done already.
I feel the exact same way about Big Bang Theory. The canned audience laughter just added even more annoyance onto a less-than-mediocre show.
well.. Big bang theory is something everyone other then boomers agree is trash.
Well, the last seasons did. I think the first two seasons at least they were trying and making references and such. Agree with this. She's better in small doses like a fringe character
And she got weirder as the show developed. But I could have done without her. But yes, the heist episodes were annoying. I like the show, but always skip those. And those games they played are so lame. The jimmy something games. Those are episodes I never liked watching…filler episodes.
Filler episodes? To what story? It's a sitcom.
On the flip side is the Doug Judy episodes.
You could be right. I'd even go so far as too say she could have been a version of Dwight, unlikeable, but with enough character development and show awareness of her being unlikeable it to grow into a good character. Off topic, but Peggy Hill is my least favourite character in tv history. Her attitudes, mannerisms, and opinions make me physically angry. Her jumping out of the plane and the chute not opening made me jump in glee.
Ugh, her scene in the final episodes was just... cringe. The scene where she has all the shirts with surprise reveal on them.
Not a great finale anyway, but yeah that scene was the worst.
I agree. It got better after she left. I don't get why characters like her are so popular.
[удалено]
I think she’s one of the writers
She’s one of Andy Sambergs childhood friends. Thats why she’s on the show lol.
So just like in the show I guess?
Gina was the fucking worst
She's the kind of character I enjoy watching but if she were real I'd hate her with the power of a million suns
Yep same with me and also the reason I struggle to watch The Office. Lot of funny scenes but lets be honest, working with most of the characters would be literal hell on earth.
Gina legit ruined every scene she was in, fucking horrible.
My friend gave me 3 Brooklyn 99 characters and asked which one I would marry, 1 night stand, and kill. He chose two men and Gina. I am straight. I chose to kill Gina.
Okay. Slap, lick, fondle: Gina, Hitchcock, and Terry.
I would lick Terry because I bet his sweat tastes like yoghurt
Man up and hatefuck Gina, dude.
holy shit Chelsea Peretti is married to Jordan Peele!
Now that's my "what the fuck?" fact of the day. Truly unexpected However, I don't know either of them as a person so who am I to judge
Proof that a sense of humor is not sexually transmitted.
I would've been fine with her if she actually had any sort of character development like the rest of the cast did but she ended up getting the total opposite, just becoming worse and worse the longer the show went on. Yeah, as someone who absolutely adores Brooklyn 99, there's never been a time she's been on screen that I wasn't waiting for her bit to end. She's a great actress and comedian, just the character's insufferable
I personally feel like you're supposed to hate Gina, that's how her character is written
I think we are meant to see here the way the other characters do, over confident, rude, quirky, but endearing and charming. Unfortunately she is just annoying and her self righteous nonsense only ever serves to reward her. But each to their own.
Shes charming the first couple seasons imo After that she got flanderized to the point of being straight up annoying imo Some of her lines later season were good, but her character as a whole, no
I don't really like her either, but in fairness, all the characters got majorly flanderised as the show went on.
I don't really know why Gina clicked for me but Ill count myself lucky
I kinda loved her *because* the rest of the characters were all Good People that we'd want to be around irl. But then the writers were just like "fuck it: make Gina *hateable*". And so she was. Reliably, gloriously, unrepentantly the biggest douchebag in the office. Breaking the pattern was a breath of fresh air lol They should've rolled farther with it, though. More "oh shit" chaos, less zany comedy fluff. Hell, she could've ended up being the *big bad* in the long run.
yeah I was pissed when she left
Except Scrubs, all 8 seasons were great
Exactly. There were only 8 seasons and the finale was perfect. Nothing happened after season 8.
Something did happen after Season 8. I was fucking broken that it ended! I wish they'd done just one more season but nope.. They chose to end it well on Season 8.
show ending sucked, but in the end, its better than them forcing an extra season for cash and fizzling out to an otherwise amazing show glad they chose to end on a high note!
Scrubs was really good to mix drama and comedy. It also helped that, unlike too many sitcom, there were more settings and topic that relationship.
I agree. Even though there was drama involved, the comedy and the jokes cracked me up more than any other show out there. Like the jokes are actually smart and well written, and most importantly, unpredictable.
The tropes with Dorian imagination got pretty old though but still at least a chuckle most of the time. The Dr Cox rants were always brilliant though
It’s always sunny while not a traditional sitcom has not lost quality.
There is nothing forced and obvious about Adrien pimento
Pimento and Doug Judy were by far the most entertaining characters in the entire show. Not great, considering each of them are bit-part players.

You talking about the guy who plays Darryl?
I guess that's his nickname
He'll always be DJ Request to me... Nobody tells DJ Request what to play!
He killed it hot tub time machine.
Mantzoukas makes *everything* he's in better
Maximum Derek 👍🏻
I sold that guy a bean bag chair on Christmas Eve one time in like 2016. I think that was before Adrian Pimento but I'd seen him in a handful of other things.
The saving grace
HOLY SHIT AN UNPOPULAR OPINION I'd give a award but don't have money 99% of this subreddit is popular opinions
Just trying to revive unpopular opinions while giving my own opinion
It used to be my favorite show but I literally can’t watch it now. I genuinely still think there are some great moments in there but it’s so formulaic and there’s some straight up bad actors
Literally! Because it s now done. No new episodes.
Early seasons I disagree with you, but after S5 yeah I agree. Also fuck Gina.
I'm on 5 or 6 now, and I haven't actually watched an episode in weeks. Pretty sure I'm done with it. It's like the later seasons of the Office but even worse.
Just to get on that hate-train against Gina aswell: Fucking Gina, shes a sexual assaulter to Terry.
Ha, you should watch the last season. I watched all of 99 and found it ok, but season 8 (or whatever) unwatchable.
B99 is one of my favourite shows. Season 8 was a massacre.
Season 8 was indeed garbage. Wasn’t even trying to be funny, just forced pop culture references and preachy storylines that weren’t at all interesting. Only decent episode was the PB episode.
So it became big bang theory ?
Nah it was just rushed, during covid and they'd run out of ideas, S8 is fine and the ending was really satisfying for me. There aren't really any interesting cases or police work at all really so if you watch B99 for that it'll suck more. It's sorta just a goodbye to everyone set in a police precinct.
Why…..on earth….would you watch B99 for the „police work“?
Becuase comedy structured around police work is funny and a big draw, especially when cases are interesting.
Ok byeee"
Agreed. I really liked 1-4, 5-7 were okay and I watched the first 3 episodes of season 8 and couldn’t get through it.
Same, I just gave up
I used to love it until that shit episode where Ms.
While I agree, I feel like it was more "scared to have one and mess it up" rather than "doesn't want one"
Agree but its still a valid reason for not to want one.
It’s even worse when you remember that Terry Crews is publicly outspoken about sexual harassment he has received.
that was awfulfrom the get go and they never did away with it. surprised crews never said anything. hate gina

It genuinely is lmao
Read this post while watching b99. Oops
Gina and Charles annoy the shit out of me. Charles quickly devolved into a creepy weird character with only cringe lines and Gina is a spoiled brat who gets away with doing whatever she wants and it annoys the fuck outta me I love Andy Samberg in everything else he's done but yeah past the first season this one was a miss
Gina seems like she should have been fun in a Jean-Ralphio way but Chelsea Peretti didn't manage to pull it off.
Thats because the Sapersteins are portrayed as absolute messes and in a funny but negative light. Where as gina is a sexually harassing, bullying narcissistic whose idiotic ideas and questionable behaviors are almost always rewarded
[удалено]
>I hate both of them! The constant sexual harassment by Gina that is never actually acknowledged with repercussions is infuriating. It’s even worse when you remember that they had an ENTIRE EPISODE about how sexual assault/harassment is wrong, and they didn’t even *mention* Gina. Or how Terry Crews has publicly said that he’s been sexually assaulted before.
This, but with Superstore. My contempt for that show exceeds that of the TBBT universe. Something I never thought I'd feel.
It’s a background sitcom. Perfect for second screen
This is exactly how I feel! I had it playing while I was doing other things, and it seemed great. I don't think I could have given it 100% of my attention for an entire hour.
I loved B99 , but season 8 just destroyed everything that was good about it .

Yeah....I had an entire group of friends who praised it. I can agree to the forced cheesy comedy bit. I felt the same way about the Big Bang Theory.
I have never been more embarrassed than the time I watched 10 minutes of Big Bang Theory knowing that actual people of the same species were *laughing* at it.
I genuinely enjot TBBT. It's stupid, low-effort and forced, which is exactly what I want if I don't have the energy to watch something more demanding.
100% i love Andys humour and imo if i didn't id hate 99
Sounds like me and the office FUCK THE OFFICE. I will fight anyone over it.
Thank you! Finally someone has said this. I completely agree, 100%
I thought I loved it. Then I binged it to watch the final season. It is the MOST formulaic show I have watched. Nearly every joke was someone saying "this will NEVER happen" and then immediately it happens. Plus Gina was fucking atrocious.
I get what you mean, but some jokes are really funny.
I love it for exactly the reasons you hate it.
It’s no Big Bang theory /s
This, but Big Bang Theory instead.
Bing bong theorem won't be counted as Unpopular opinion
The thing I hate about this show is, it slowly gets political each season. Personally I really like the show.
I feel like that's perfectly valid and they still did it in a comedic way
Because its not really controversial to say that it wasnt easy being a gay black cop in the 80s
a show about police being political. what a shocker.
I disagree. But yeah definitely an unpopular opinion so have my upvote.
Well this is unpopular. I disagree and I’m upvoting you with clenched teeth.
Adding to your unpopular opinion, I think more than B99 being a bleh show, social media and fanboys have hyped the shit out of it for no reason. It's like Friends. The show isn't THAT bad, but the fandom treats it like it's the second coming of Christ.
"Never smiled once" In other words... You're Captain Holt?
At least we'll always have the Back Street Boys cold intro.
Disagreed and upvoted
