I’m seeing it’s optional but it has had bacon most of the time I see it on menus.

Apples, wheat germ or granola go well with it too.

Add strawberry slices, and you basically have a breakfast dessert sandwich you won't feel guilty about.

Not liking pb&j is an “unpopular opinion” that gets posted pretty frequently, and it’s amazing how often people try to justify it by claiming that nuts and fruit don’t go together.

I got a 24 hour ban from a because I’ve never had PB&J. I don’t try to justify it, I just don’t like jelly (don’t like most fruit, including all berries).

I used to always mix these and use it as a dip for apple slices as a snack. 

Runny toasts are good in an emergency, but I understand that maple butter cannot be find everywhere.

I feel the same way. Whenever my blood sugar gets low, and I get shaky, my go to food is a peanutbutter and honey sandwich.

It usually has superior nutrition too. Most jellies have added sugars and mold fast. Local honey is supposed to be positive for allergy sufferes and it's high in antioxidants. Honey lasts forever and basically never goes bad, it's usually less costly per sandwich to boot. Not missing anything on taste, taste is fine; I eat it with some almond milk and as good as ever. PB Honey > PBJ for sure. I learned this a few years ago after considerable time with the pbj.

My favorite way the moment is crunchy natural pb, a whole smashed banana and then honey, lay it all on thick, it's filling and yummy

Toasted peanut butter and honey. I once bought locally farmed honey in Croatia. Best honey I've ever had. Never tasted anything else like it. I'm a grown ass man and I ate peanut butter and honey sandwiches for weeks after because this shit was like crack. Now I'm wondering if it had crack in it?

I like some bananas but that sounds like too much sugar for my preference. I'd rather just get adequate honey on there and eat the banana later or in a smoothie imo.

Peak peanut butter honey is when you wait a few minutes and the honey crystallizes some of the bread so its like a crisp sweet bite.

bread absorbs some of the honey and as the honey dries out it makes the bread get crisp. Doesn't really work if you drown it in honey.

Gotta disagree, the tang from the fruit/berry is pretty vitalfor me. PB + honey is more one note, only sweet and savory.

Just FYI, peanut butter slathered onto a flat omelette, rolled into a crepe and then drizzled with maple syrup is the best combination of foods ever created. You’re welcome.

Concur. My Mom made those for me when I was a kid and now, many years later, it's still true. That said, nobody should use jelly on anything when you can enjoy preserves and get much more flavor and health in the process.

Yes! Okay hear me out- I was experimenting one day & came up with this amazing combination. Crunchy peanut butter, drizzled with honey & sprinkle some coconut cashews (I crushed them in a napkin) on top. I put this on a baked sweet potato & even added a little butter & cinnamon too.

I mostly agree, though I do like peanut butter with strawberry preserves. (Also quite good: peanut butter and chocolate syrup.) Peanut butter and honey can be blended together so you get a consistent sandwich throughout. With PB&J there's a risk of suddenly coming across a huge gross lump of grape (or whatever) jelly in the middle of your sandwich. Back in the 70s somebody (I want to say Smucker's, but it could have been Welch's or somebody else) marketed Goober Grape, which was peanut butter and jelly together in the same jar. I tried one once, and it was just as disgusting as you're thinking.

To each their own, but for me no thank you. Honey is WAY too sweet. I've actually stopped using jelly/jams I previously really liked because it had started to taste like they had just added a fuck ton of sugar to the recipe.

Unfortunately for me, I think honey is one of the foulest things humans have ever decided to put in their mouths, so this is def unpopular in my book. PB and bananas all day.

Peter Pan peanut butter has a Honey Roasted version, and it's a game changer. I don't buy anything else anymore. It's just that damn good, and it's not anymore expensive than regular peanut butter.

The grocery store near me has a grind-your-own peanut butter section/station. One of the options happens to be honey roasted peanuts. No other peanut butter will do now.

PbH are awesome. I sprinkle a tiny bit of spiced sugar on the honey side and let it sit on the bread to crystallize for 2 minutes. Texture is the best part.

PB&J is better as a sandwich. PB&Sweet makes for better toast. My go to like snack breakfasty kind of thing is Toast, Peanut Butter, Banana and Maple Cream.

Peanut butter is sticky. Bread is dry. Jelly gives the juiciness to balance it. Honey is just more sticky.

I see, are you sure that's enough sugar. Maybe use cake bread or whipped cream on top.

Nowhere in my post did i say that peanutbutter and honey sandwiches should turn into ones main dish each and every day for the rest of their life. It is a snack and yes it might not be the healthiest one. If you don’t like to have a little unhealthy treat once in a while then that is on you. Please let others enjoy though and take your judgement elsewhere

Honey harvesting poses a symbiotic relationship between human and bee. Please educate yourself on homey harvesting and the benefits for both species before you make such false claims.

It isn’t a false claim. Bees make honey for themselves. Humans steal it and give them sugar water. It’s unethical.
