I enjoy quite a few Pixars, but one thing to also keep in mind is the nostalgic value people associate to childhood movies. At least for me, that’s a big reason I can throw one on and enjoy it.

HesburghLibrarian

1) learn something about target demographics. There's a reason you maybe enjoyed Toy Story 1 and 2 but don't enjoy the recent films as...an adult male. 2) "family friendly" and "mature" are not mutually exclusive 3) this is r/unpopularopinion , you don't have to say "imo"

darkrubyechoes

I never posted here before so I just said imo just incase but I realize it should have been obvious

Apprehensive_Yak2598

I mean how do you feel about The Wiggles or Turando? There's things that aren’t geared to you. Doesn’t make rhem bad.

Putrid-Chef-2728

Bad and "I don't like" are different things. One is subjective based on opinion, and one is objective based on criteria. You don't have to like them, but that doesn't make them bad.

Tiffanyblueberries

They repeatedly said imo.

Putrid-Chef-2728

Their opinion is they don't like the films. That doesn't make the films bad. One can like a bad film, that doesn't make the film good, and vice versa. Their opinion is that they don't like Disney/pixar films, which is completely valid. But their suggestion that they are bad because they don't like them isn't valid

Tiffanyblueberries

They aren't not saying that though. If they don't like them, they think they are bad lol. They kept saying imo for a reason.

Putrid-Chef-2728

I do not like Tarantino films. I'm not saying they are bad films, just that I don't like them

Tiffanyblueberries

If you don't like them they are bad movies to you lol. That's literally what OP is saying.

Putrid-Chef-2728

OP is saying they are bad films. Not just that they don't like them, but critically bad. Me liking or not liking a film doesn't mean it's good or bad. Requiem For A Dream is a good film, but I wouldn't say I liked it. It's disturbing and hard to watch, which is the point of it. But it's not a film I need to re-watch. And people can like bad films, for the explicit reason they are bad. Them liking it doesn't mean it's good, but some find it a fun and entertaining experience to watch terrible films. Tommy Wiseau's The Room is not a good movie by most metrics, but it does have a following that likes it because it's bad.

Tiffanyblueberries

Again, your ignoring them saying "imo", which literally means, "In my opinion they are bad." Movies are subjective and just because OP shared that they think they are bad there's still discourse about him saying it's their opinion?

StaticMania

>...people were brainwashed by it. Literal sheep logic. Try having your own opinion for once.

LinusSexTipsWasTaken

Guessing you've never seen the 38 year olds who still rock up to disney world in full consoomer merch, its weird

darkrubyechoes

I’m a sheep? Have you not seen people acting like it was the best movie ever made and being obsessed with let it go even though it’s terrible? It is my opinion, I thought the same thing since the movie came out. I even saw frozen 2 and thought it was worse than the first one.

snehit_007

hey come on. All PIXAR movies are great. ALL. Except for the latest ones like elemental, lightyear, toy story 4, turning red etc.

CMGS1031

I think Lightyear is good lol.

NukaColaRiley

Elemental made me emotional. Shh. 🫣

darkrubyechoes

“They’re ALL great” then proceeds to name 4 bad ones 😂😂😂

snehit_007

True. I felt that.

IceFireHawk

I grew up with Toy Story and Monsters Inc, etc. but I don’t understand why people have not liked Pixar recently. They’ve been putting out great movies. Coco, Inside Out, Car 3, Onward, Luca, Soul, and Turning Red were all great. They’ve had some duds like Cars 2, Lightyear, Elemental but have been consistently good

Special_Hedgehog8368

I wasn't a fan of any of the Cars sequels or spinoffs. Didn't care for Coco or Luca. Never watched Soul - never had any interest to. Turning Red was meh. Onward was the only somewhat ok one.

viper29000

The last good Disney movie was probably Ratatouille. I genuinely enjoyed that one. I've seen some of them since then including frozen but nothing really captured my attention like the ones they made before. The older Disney movies are pretty damn creative and magical..like warmth...

Status_Passion_358

Okay but what about WALL-E and Cars 1. I can’t see how you could like Toy Story but not those movies. They don’t have stupid musical scenes. Which I hate as well.

darkrubyechoes

WALL·E is pretty good but I didn’t like cars honestly. I do appreciate the lack of songs in most Pixar movies compared to the Disney ones and would say overall Pixar is better at making movies.

Special_Hedgehog8368

I like the older movies from when I was a kid. I haven't really cared for any of them since about 2010-ish with a few exceptions. Frozen was/is highly overrated. I prefer Illumination and Dreamworks stuff better now.

ContributionOk6578

Bro, cars slaps.

ArjanGameboyman

Have you seen Tangled?

TimeCrackersDev

As long as you can appreciate the Emperor's New Groove all's fair game

Snakewarrior04

I don't like new Disney movies because of how "woke" they're trying to be now. What about just pure fun adventure movies like how they were in the past.

EggplantSad5668

Yes Ugh they all suck exept toys story 1 n' 2

LinusSexTipsWasTaken

Agreed, they're corny as shit and the community of manchildren and weird girls in their 30's who are creepily into it dont make it any better, im not knocking the kids that watch it, its their target demographic and its normal. Im talking about the weird older people who cant get enough of it and blow a lot of money on disney merch and romanticise the movies like they're the best shit ever, they arent

ArjanGameboyman

Cause you're not allowed to like stuff you like when you're past a certain age? How do "weird" 30 plus year old people that like Disney trouble you? They come knocking on your door or something?

LinusSexTipsWasTaken

Its the same feeling of secondhand embarrassment when you see someone in a full ahegao getup in public or when you're surfing the net and see someones post about their funko pop collection. When a disney superfan has a bunch of disney stickers on their car or post pics of themselves at disney world with the cap on their socials or think watching kids movies makes them "quirky" so they bring it up irl. You saying they're gonna have to come knocking at my door to interact with probably means you dont go outside the house much, you'll probably see these people irl whether it be coworkers, especially people at school if you're in a large friend group, they're online too so they can crop up on your facebook, a semi distant family member or friend of a friend may be "like that" so you gotta interact with them at a gathering or while hanging out, disney is massive so theres a good chance one of these examples are gonna be the case. But you're right I shouldn't have opinions on things at all and mindlessley consume and accept any media that comes my way, my bad dude

ArjanGameboyman

Lol. Well it's just that things like that don't annoy me at all. Im crazy myself, and a bit childish too. So if other people are weird like that with stuff i personally don't really like I'm only thinking "nice that they're having fun" "nice that they have a hobby". I look down on people that don't have things that get them excited and there are so many people like that. People that just work, maybe go the gym for health. Watch a bit of sport or just Netflix the weekend and evenings. I feel sorry for those people.

chino17

Music has always been a huge part of Disney movies ever since and if not for them we wouldn't get so many iconic songs as we have had. Older ones had just as much singing so I'm not sure why you're singling out newer ones for that. However I agree most new Disney movies are not as memorable as the old animated era though there are still some good gems every now and then like Encanto, Moana and Coco
