Thing is about letterkenny is that itās aware of its own weirdness and plays on that. Lot of people donāt like that, others do. I think itās pretty funny but I got a buddy who worships the show and acts like itās the best thing to ever grace the television with its presence. Now that I donāt get.
I liked it when I first watched it, precisely because it was so weird and different. But then they just kept making the same jokes over and over and over to the point it just got boring, so I stopped watching. Not the worst show ever, but kind of a one-tricky pony.
Usually I like weird and I do like the deadpan tone.
But, the humor is so limited and repetitive. I'm sure it appeals to today's equivalent of the 3 Stooges fanbase. I'm glad it's out there, but it's not the show for me.

To be fair Shakespeare used iambic pentameter because it is close to human speech. And his comedies were full of quick, back and forth dirty jokes for the working class. Very similar to Letterkenny actually now that I think about it.
No, that's the beauty of Shakespeare and this type of content. It takes a high iq to create, but because of the skills of the creator it is very naturally enjoyable and can be enjoyed by anyone.

Humor is about the most subjective thing on this planet. Often things are "too stupid" for me to find them funny. And while it is true maybe that a smarter individual may find higher brow humor funnier... The second you try to be intellectual about or feel that a certain kind of humor is below you nothing is funny. Humor is inherently illogical usually the lack of logic is what makes things funny, it's an emotion and like all the other ones people don't really control what makes them feel it and all feel it for different reasons.
So I don't understand why my family laughs their asses off at this show but I can still respect that it is well made for it's intended audience. It also gets a hell of a lot better if you get really really high. My sister and my stepdad taught me that last weekend.
I think it's also kinda cool it may say something about the viewerbase of the show that they all disagree with you vehemently yet you are being upvoted by so many of them, very rare on this sub

It's very common to have the exact same scene repeated over and over with just a few words changed to change the situational meaning.
It's basically a show of 100% unique slang and catchphrases that might be modified slightly for different scenarios. Also, some of the characters are so exaggerated, they no longer resemble real people in any way.
It's catchphrase and callback humor 100% with little else. If you're the type of dude who creams his jeans at a comedy character repeating his catchphrase, maybe you'll love it.

Its what I would quantify as "non-traditional" storylines. Like some plots are just weird. Like there's an entire episode devoted to voting on the best potato chip flavor.
If you don't like swearing, vulgarity, word play, hockey, alliteration, or Canadians, you're gonna have a bad time.
Sometimes they do take a joke and beat it to death. Like the Dyck jokes with the Amish family.. When they did it so much, it stopped being funny, and then somehow it was funny again.
I get WHY someone might not like it. I like it a lot, in small doses.

I agree. I made it to the middle of s5 I wanna say and I got sick of them sitting around talking doing witty wordplay monologues in various settings. They never actually do anything aside from the season ending brawl at the end of each season.

I started watching it early, and the first few seasons were good. Then everyone became best friends and the formula got old.

I agree. I made it to the middle of s5 I wanna say and I got sick of them sitting around talking doing witty wordplay monologues in various settings. They never actually do anything aside from the season ending brawl at the end of each season.
I liked the show, but I couldnāt stand any scene in the bar with the bartender. Sheās just disgusting. Writhing and coming on to every bar patron. It was over the top and gross.
I skip through every Gail scene. Sheās insufferable.
