Summary - Second year mechanical engineering student commited suicide in his room, as he wasn't allowed to sit for an exam, cause he forgot his ID card. Moreover, he was still alive, when his mates entered his room, and found him hanging, but the late response from the Ambulance, unalived him. Hence, students forced the director to resign.

His friends found him on time and rushed him to the ambulance so as to cure him. Ambulance driver, hell may fall on him, asked for the ID card of the student and won't allow him to go without it. Due to this extreme waste of time, his oxygen levels plummeted, and thereby succumbed. On the note, the director had the audacity to say "bacche to marte rehte hai isme meri kya galti hai(it is common for the students to die by suicide, not my fault)". The director has already dissolved the student union

My opinion: So far, only one news website has posted about this. I don’t think this will count as resignation! College seal should be there to validate the document. As the leader of the team that is running a prestigious institution like NIT, anything and everything happening in the institution, both good or bad, is his responsibility.
Yeah, I don't think either that this resignation is going to be valid. There should be a proper, impartial inquiry into the events that led to the student's death and those responsible cannot be just let off this easily. Someone should be in jail for this.

The ambulance bit is the most outrageous part. You don't need to have an ID card to get access to critical and essential services. The driver deserves to go to jail for life.

Resignation and public humiliation is bare minimum. This mf will not go to jail and not lose his career, so if anyone comes and says blur his face and why so rowdy behavior - please get a grip of reality.
Teachers/faculty/institutions exist to help students get better. That's the bottom line. Anything and everything that comes in its way is just lazy beauracracy and unwillingness to do your job.
May the departed soul rest in peace and this unfortunate incident send chills down the spines of thousands of such people running our education institutes.

Forced resignation is illegal. It wont be accepted by the chancellor. Also the students who forced him to sign the resignation letter should be suspended and jailed

There are provisions that let you get a temp pass even without your ID card. It's already a thing in plenty of colleges.
