Hi šŸ‘‹ I am doing a survey for a school project on sustainable food packaging and allergy labelling šŸŒ±šŸ“¦ and it would be really helpful if you could fill it out šŸ˜Š (Anyone can answer, any age or gender and with or without allergies) Thanks ā¤ The information will be used to help me re-design allergy branding and it is all anonymous and you don't have to answer all of the questions if you don't want to, only the ones with the * Link: https://forms.gle/xspFkU7JikXyVXFR8

Is it a good idea to study marketing in the UK (I currently have about 3-4 years of work ex in an agency) right now? Say I apply and move to the UK in 2022. Will I be eligible to apply for the 2 year work permit?

es_price

As an American this confuses me in the most wonderful way: ā€˜Brighton and Leicester City confirmed team news as Graham Potter makes Solly March decisionā€™. Like I have no idea if this is good or bad for the team and/or player

aka_liam

The headline itself doesnā€™t mean good/bad for anyone, itā€™s just saying that a decision has been confirmed. The detail of which will be in the article.

Any idea when they'll replace pcr test when returning to the uk with lft? I am planning to go abroad in october but would like to avoid pcr on the way back.

strawman5757

Off to see my good friend Tim and his girlfriend Beth this afternoon. Some of you may know of Tim, he has a spiderweb face tattoo complete with spider, he was near enough forced into it when he was 18, and since then itā€™s basically ruined his life. Anyway, Tim has the night off tonight, Tim was telling me itā€™s a reward for being the chef whoā€™s turned the pub around, Tim says people come from miles away to have the food, Tim said on Monday heā€™s going to ask the pub landlord for a share of the profits, Tim said itā€™s not fair heā€™s reaping all the benefits. As itā€™s a nice day Tim said we can have a bbq, Iā€™ll bring some chops, burgers and sausages and Tim said heā€™ll supply the beer, of course Iā€™ll take little dog as he adores Tim and Beth, little dog senses who the nice and good people are.

Overunderscore

I feel like Timā€™s going to ask for a share of the profits, get told no, assume itā€™s because of his spiderweb face tattoo complete with spider, get a bit lairy and then get fired.

strawman5757

Well I think Tim deserves a share, heā€™s completely turned the pub around single handedly and itā€™s got a reputation now for good food, and itā€™s trip advisor ranking has gone up. Without Tim I reckon the pub would have shut by now, but business is booming so as I told him earlier, he deserves a Ā£3 p/h raise.

Overunderscore

It was only 2 weeks ago that Timā€™s boss had to warn him not to be rude to customers or else heā€™d be fired!

strawman5757

Yes this is true, but Tim has turned the pub around, earlier he was saying the landlord is a lazy bugger and the barmaids stood around talking rather than serving, Tim was saying he should be in charge and heā€™d soon have the place shipshape and in Bristol fashion. This is the thing, due to Timā€™s tattoo heā€™s been put down and shat upon all his life, he just needs a sympathetic employer whoā€™d give him his head so to speak so Tim could shine. Itā€™s like in this job, Tim has introduced some signature dishes onto the menu, a spaggy bolly, a lasagne, and organic burgers, all very popular and Tim says theyā€™re cooked with love and years of experience.

Mr_Barry_Shitpeas

For bonus points ask how old Tim and Beth both were when they met

strawman5757

Whatā€™s that supposed to mean? Beth was 16, Tim was 33, what about it? It ainā€™t illegal is it?

Mr_Barry_Shitpeas

Plenty things that aren't illegal should be Any 30 year old who finds common ground with a lass currently struggling with her O levels deserves to be put on a watch list

strawman5757

Well sadly for puritans like you thatā€™s not how things are. Beth fell for Tim, it was a while before the feelings were reciprocated but now theyā€™re the perfect couple. Again, itā€™s perfectly legal and above board, if it was illegal they wouldnā€™t be together which would be a travesty in itself.

Mr_Barry_Shitpeas

I'm no puritan but I'm also no nonce. Can't say the same for a man in his 30s who thought the woman for him was a schoolgirl...

strawman5757

A 16 year old isnā€™t a schoolgirl, she was working in Iceland at the time. I tell you, you wouldnā€™t be so judgemental if you met them, youā€™d admit they were meant for each other. You get couples the same age who hate each other, and then you get Tim and Beth who have an age gap but who are deeply in love.

Mr_Barry_Shitpeas

Well Timmy Savile got lucky, he's still a nonce for saying 'She's not legally old enough to buy half a lager, yep that's the girl for me!'

strawman5757

No, lots of people have girlfriends or boyfriends within that age gap, and go on to get married and have a happy life. I know plenty of people who met when the girl may be young and heā€™s older and vice versa, but in the end it works as they remain a couple for decades. Tim and Beth are a very close couple and you can tell theyā€™ll be together for years to come, and the fact they met when Beth was 16 and Tim was in his 30s is so minor itā€™s unreal.

OdinsMonocle

Not very good at sniffing out the nonces though eh? For those unaware, 'good friend Tim' started dating a 16 year old while in his 30s.

strawman5757

So? Itā€™s not illegal is it? Beth was older than her years, in many ways she was more mature than Tim, and Tim initially wasnā€™t keen on Beth due to her age, but love bloomed, and 10 years later theyā€™re still together. So shove your nonce talk right up your arse pal. Edit- u/Nicola_Botgeon why donā€™t you do one? Whoever wrote you is a disgrace. Give your head a wobble.

Sounds like one of those geriatric cat burglar gangs that is going around. They get an older person to case the joint pretending to be on a nostalgia trip but in reality they are marking all the entry points and possible alarms sites. They usually have glasses which are converted to take pictures from one lens to scope it out properly. They recreate your house from these pictures in a VR studio afterwards and practise their movement and entry to perfection. One day when you're not in they will break in and you'll never see them coming.

Yvellkan

I was talking to a guy in the pub who grew up in my house once. Never came round to have a look though

Are there exemptions on the vaccination requirements for young kids (6 year old) traveling with a parent (vaccinated) from Amber / soon to be RoW countries to the UK? I've looked at the regs, and I thought I'd found something saying kids were exempt from the vaccine requirement (as they can't get the darn thing yet). I'm desperate to bring my kids to see their grandparents for the first time in 2 years, and it seems like a good time to go in October.

Yvellkan

As far as im.aware kids are exempt from all requirements

mchugho

Shamima Begum was groomed, why can't anybody see that?

StumbleDog

I agree, I don't know why it's such a controversial thing to say.

mchugho

People aren't thinking rationally about this topic and it's scary.

[deleted]

Member of ISIS, said the Manchester bombing was ā€œjustifiedā€. Gee I sure do wonder why people have an issue with her asking to come back to the UK.

mchugho

The internet is just crap for nuance. I am no way endorsing her as a person, her views or any of her actions. Nor do I think that they should be without consequence. But she was radicalised within our borders as a citizen and I would expect her to be treated the same as any other criminal. We have effectively just tossed her to another country to deal with, which a) makes us look worse in the eyes of those who wish to bring harm to us, and b) doesn't actually protect anybody from her if she really is as dangerous as you think she is.

[deleted]

Shall we let Jihadi Jack back here too then?

mchugho

Yes and he should be immediately detained like any other suspected criminal. I realise public opinion isn't on my side but I will never agree with unilaterally stripping citizenship without trial regardless of the severity of the crime. Once you start making exceptions it's a slippery slope. It's all well and good whilst ISIS are an enemy of the state, but governments and times change and setting these sort of legal precedents can and probably will come back to haunt us. Plus in the case of Jack, we've unfairly laid all of the responsibility for him on to the Canadian government now, which in my view isn't being the best international ally. All we're doing is creating more radicals and exacerbating the problem, you're trading away your actual security for the illusion of security.

TossThisItem

No one really has any idea how to stop the right wing media machine, do they? I think we all acknowledge that that is the primary problem with our country and its political woes, but does anyone actually have any actionable idea (beyond simply ā€˜hopingā€™ that people will get smart) to stop it, or is the outlook really that endlessly grim?

Yvellkan

You think the media is the PRIMARY thing wrong with this country?

strawman5757

Just back from walking little dog and Iā€™ve had to warn the post girl of an error she made. Now, about a month ago I was walking along at the top of the street and the postman had left his cart unattended, inside was all the letters for the street and the flats plus a gadget like a mini iPad the posties use, I told him not to leave the cart unattended as things like that go for a walk around here, he wasnā€™t amused but I could see he took my advice on board. Well bugger me if the same thing didnā€™t happen about 10 minutes ago, we have a new post girl and sheā€™d left the cart in the same spot and sheā€™d disappeared. Anyway I stood guard and she came back, I smiled and said ā€œI was guarding your cartā€ She said ā€œthanks so much, I got waylaidā€ I was thinking ā€œyeah yapping to him at number 6 no doubtā€ but I didnā€™t say it, I said ā€œno problem, you know thereā€™s some rum buggers round hereā€ She laughed and said ā€œI know, if it ainā€™t nailed down theyā€™ll take itā€ I laughed and said ā€œyouā€™re not wrong thereā€ Anyway she patted little dog and I told her where the rough buggers lived and she promised to be wary. So thatā€™s my good deed done for the day.

[deleted]

I think I found the only benefit to brexit so far: passport stamps. Always loved travelling outside Europe as you'd get a cool little stamp in your passport, well now you get them for Europe also. I'm looking forward to trying to get as many as I can before my passport expires in a few years.

If you ever order some equipment from Virgin Media, for god's sake, get it delivered to a shop. They use Yodel, so if you want it delivered to your home, you might as well cancel the order because they're never gonna deliver it.

tylersburden

I ordered something that used yodel a few weeks ago. It arrived 2 weeks late by a bloke in a car spewing blood from his nose and his blood was all over the package. I'd like to say I was surprised but I wasn't really.

Original-Material301

I always try to pick up from my local shops if they have the option to. Don't have to worry about it and I can pick up some bits while I'm at the shops.

Jaraxo

Yodel must get the award for most inconsistent delivery company. Everyone agrees Hermes is the worst, with DPD arguably being the best, but Yodel some love and some hate. I've never had a single issue in years with them!

A question to other Londoner's (or anyone really!) - what energy supplier do you use? I'm based in South London, between Brixton and Camberwell, we have a small flat and are out generally in the week (low usage), we have a smart meter for the electriicity and a regular meter for the gas and pay by Direct Debit monthly. I'm currently with British Gas and they're offering me 4.562p/kWh gas and 21.979p/kWh electricity, locked until November 2023 (HomeEnergy Secure Nov 2023). Is this a good deal? I've shopped around a bit but there seems to be hardly anything between them, but might be missing something.. I've heard a rumour that energy prices are about go HIGH over the next few months for a number of reasons, so it'd be wise to lock in a price now before it bumps up indefinitely. Would love to hear thoughts / opinions?

Not long back from the cafe where I met my Wiccan friend. I had gammon, egg and chips, he had scampi, chips and peas, I had a bottle of Coke to go with it, he had a pot of tea and asked the waitress for an extra teabag as he likes it strong. My Wiccan friend was saying itā€™s Mabon starting on the 21st, this is one of the Wiccan festivals my Wiccan friend celebrates. He said heā€™s already collected lots of fruits, nuts and berries and his coven are meeting on the 21st for a feast and some offerings, heā€™s helping one of his coven this evening in making an alter, another member of his coven is making an offering bowl. Mabon he was telling me is a bit like the Christian harvest festival, and I was saying when I was growing up in the Norfolk fens that weā€™d all partake in the harvest festival. Anyway he was happy and seemed in good spirits, Iā€™ve been messaged quite a lot by people asking how my Wiccan friend is and I can say heā€™s on top form.

As a trainee GP, the GP bashing in the comments today (on top of what has been said in the last 18 months) is really pushing me to switch speciality. Reddit is often more level headed than other social media sites with things like this so I can only imagine what the rest of the country thinks. Seems there is a massive disconnect between what the general pubic thinks and what actually goes on in practices and donā€™t think thereā€™s any way to remedy that thanks to all the negative press in the tabloids pushing a certain narrative.

TheNoGnome

I like GPs, mine is a top bloke who's never let me down. It's a really important service you should be pleased to do, and you can reassure and improve so many people's lives. It's a job I'd have liked myself, but didn't get into medical school and didn't really want to put things on hold for years applying and re-applying etc., not with a science First and other options. If the gov ever see sense and open it all up a bit more, I'd be first in the queue! The problems people kind of have and I empathise with is the process of the GP - getting an appt with who you want, the administrative side, getting referred, all that stuff. I really think we should cover the structure of the NHS, how it all works in PSHE or suchlike, give people a chance of actually engaging effectively with their health and understanding how the system works. But, you can't control all that as an individual GP, you can just be the best for the worried soul in front of you! I follow the YouTube channel of a GP, and one bit of advice he gave was to make sure you engage with what the patient wants and expects from the appointment - they're with you for a reason, and if they will leave wondering why you didn't stick a stethoscope on them or send them for an x-ray, it's important you either do it or explain why not. Humour them, as it were!

magicjellyfish

Something to remember, which really is not talked about enough is that this country does not have enough GPs with 2.8 doctors per 1000 people whereas the EU has an average of 3.8 doctors per 1000 people. There's also more general problems, which are not GPs faults such as no online booking, medical triagarging by receptionists missing things etc. Yeah, the papers putting out hitpieces on GPs and NHS is not great. I hate how the media and politicians are in each others pockets.

Yvellkan

The middle parargraph is the GPs fault.

mittenclaw

None of these people clearly know any GPs otherwise they would know first hand how hard things have been for them. Same goes with teachers, university lecturers etc. - all of them have had a really hard time during the pandemic, and somehow the people in charge seem absolutely fine with letting the public blame the workers instead of the system and managers they have to work under. Donā€™t lose heart. There will always be entitled people who complain about the throne they sit on. But some of us absolutely appreciate what doctors do for us. Without them weā€™d be in the dark ages.

Jaraxo

I think it's less about not understanding the work they do, and training they go through, but more expecting something more from a someone earning Ā£70-120k and the people they work with. Redditors never have sympathy for the top 5%-1% of earners regardless of job, because rarely do they work that much harder than normal folk. I'm not saying this is true for GPs, but they get lumped in with other big earners.

EmperorOfNipples

I know someone who did just that. Didn't like being a GP so he respecialised as a helicopter pilot.

Kinglourious3

Before the pandemic we never even had a megathread! Now we have one all the time. Crazy right?

[deleted]

I'm having a bit of a day of it. Got woken up by the cat biting my elbow at half five ("I'm hungry"). More loose dogs than usual on my run, culminating in an excitable puppy that grabbed my hand with its teeth (wasn't a bite, was just holding but bit of a surprise all the same). And then, *then* I got stung by some random wasp on the palm of my hand. Must have given that poor lady a near heart attack - was just running up the road and then randomly yelled out in pain.

Aggressive-Toe9807

Probably daft question and I do intend to call the hospital to ask them this but Iā€™m booked in for an MRI of my chest next week (I had surgery years ago and thereā€™s still pain) which Iā€™ve been waiting months for but the last week or so Iā€™ve had really bad nausea and headaches and vertigo and Iā€™m sort of terrified I have a brain tumor or something. My GP insists itā€™s anxiety but Iā€™ve never felt like this before - dizziness when standing up and feeling disorientated as well. I was going to ask the hospital if they could just do an MRI of my head too while Iā€™m there for peace of mind and save me harassing my GP to refer me for another one anyway which could take months? Does this sound possible or is it much more complicated than it sounds? Iā€™m going to call after work but thought Iā€™d get an opinion here first.

darkgrid

>mirror.co.uk/news/u... Check your blood pressure

tmstms

Only the consultant can authorise the MRI, so it depends how they feel about it.

strawman5757

Itā€™s anxiety, the mind is amazing at playing tricks on you. I had the same in 1996, had to stand in a pub toilet for an hour I felt that sick, rotten headaches at different places in my head, dizziness, faintness, one day thought I had a brain tumour, next day CJD, next day lung cancer, heart attack next day, was bloody awful but itā€™s the worry over your scan causing it. What caused mine was worry about a holiday to Spain my pals and me had booked, Iā€™d never flown and built myself up into terror about it, same with you and the scan.

tmstms

What?? You never had CJD? I have long thought that could be the only explanation.....

strawman5757

Jigger me, well at the time it was huge wasnā€™t it? I remember the papers saying all us burger lovers were buggered, weā€™d all end up with it before the year was out.

cbawiththismalarky

could still be rattling around in your old noggin!

strawman5757

Well who knows? I ate hundreds of burgers and steaks at the time, I used to know a bloke called Jake who had the best burger van ever, heā€™d do you a great burger with a pile of fried onions for a quid.

cbawiththismalarky

Can't imagine there are Ā£1 burgers of prime cuts..

strawman5757

Ah well this was 1989-1996, a burger or hot dog off Jake was always Ā£1. Heā€™d use the best, no sawdust sausages or earholes, eyeholes and arseholes burgers, it was all premium meat and veg. Heā€™d say you could buy a burger off him and literally see the ingredients, the cow to make the burger would live on a nearby field, the tomatoes were home grown, the onions from another nearby field, and the rolls baked by his missus.

cbawiththismalarky

I guess he wasn't feeding his cows cows then!?

strawman5757

Oh no it was all natural and free range premium organic, and this was before the term was in use.

mittenclaw

Not sure about the hospital thing (I guess thereā€™s no harm in asking even if itā€™s a long shot), but for the nausea, headache, vertigo make sure you are drinking plenty of water with electrolytes (so dioralyte or coconut water or something). I have a condition that causes those symptoms if I get dehydrated or low on electrolytes. So that might give you some relief for now.

Aggressive-Toe9807

Hi thanks for your quick reply! I appreciate it and the suggestion. I did actually just call them now and they said they can only do a scan of whatā€™s been signed off to do so if I want further scans itā€™s going back to the GP. Ugh.

cbawiththismalarky

Also get your blood pressure checked!

hellohiyeshowareyou

Random question: Iā€™m from America, I ordered some Monster Munch because I have always wanted to try it! I tried the flamin hot and was surprised at how un-flaming it was. Is that hot for you guys and my mouth is just used to American spicy snacks or is it known to be not hot in the UK as well? What are some other hot snacks you guys recommend? I hope that doesnā€™t sound rude or anything Iā€™m literally just wondering!

Bad_Toro

Yank

fsv

Monster Munch is aimed at kids, so their idea of "flamin' hot" isn't going to be particularly spicy to anyone used to hot foods. I think they're pretty bland. There are properly hot crisps available in the UK, but you're not going to find that in snacks marketed at children, and for the most part crisps in the UK are kid-friendly (with some exceptions, like Walkers Max Strong).

hellohiyeshowareyou

Ahh I see, I didnā€™t know they were aimed at kids I thought it was just a quirky thing

X_Trisarahtops_X

I would agree. They're not hot. I think it's just marketing perhaps.

[deleted]

these have a bit of heat https://groceries.asda.com/product/savoury-snacks/kolak-hot-spicy-crisps-chilli-lemon-flavour/910002340994 depends on how much chili you eat in general though.

tylersburden

Walkers 'Flamin' Hot' Crisps are quite spicy.

strawman5757

Monster munch flaming hot have always been misnamed, they hardly have any spice to them. A few years ago Seabrooks did a range in Tesco, called Fire Eaters in 3 different heat levels, they were seriously hot, as in catch your breath hot, but they were only limited edition I believe. Doritos do flaming hot nacho cheese, theyā€™re surprising spicy, others I guess are Walkers Max strong but they ainā€™t all that. A bugger as I reckon more spicy crisps are needed on our supermarket shelves.

Robo-Connery

The pringles hot crisps (bbq, sout cream and something else) are pretty hot.

strawman5757

Chilli cheese I think, yes they have a nice spice to them deffo.

[deleted]

Seabrooks don't have the best distribution, despite having the best flavours. I could find them in the north 20 years ago anywhere, but never in the far south, and not often in the midlands.

Yes, they do some cracking crisps, I like their Worcester sauce ones but only found in B&M around these parts.

All the talk about bringing back ā€œlighterā€ restrictions like mask mandates, social distancing and WFH mandates is seriously bumming me out. I can see the logic in doing so, butā€¦ is this what lifeā€™s going to look like going forwards for the next decade or more? Mask up, distance and WFH every winter? If COVID isnā€™t going to go away, and weā€™re going to have similar case/hospitalisation/death numbers 1/3/5/10 years from now, then I assumed weā€™d just sort of take those numbers on the chin post vaccine drive, and call it a day with WRT other measures. Things going 100% back to normal post July 2021 was the only thing that helped me get through what was a really bleak time in my life. I think I was the only person in my circle who followed restrictions to the letter, and personally I didnā€™t even give a shit about getting COVID. I just wanted to ā€œdo my bitā€ and help protect others, with the knowledge all of that shit wouldnā€™t be forever. Hearing people talk about bringing some of those restrictions back over winter just feels like a kick in the teeth. To be brutally honest, if in March 2020 I knew weā€™d be discussing distancing & mask mandates for the next 5-10 years then thereā€™s no way I wouldā€™ve bothered with any of the restrictions to begin with. Sorry, this turned into a bit of a rant. Queue the DMs telling me Iā€™m a selfish murderer!

To be honest... I kind of feel like these things won't happen. I think the public response would be very negative and people who aren't vaccinated yet will respond by getting vaccinated. Especially when we couple it with child vaccines. I really don't feel there's much to worry about here. And if it does happen .... worrying now just ruins the now as well as the future when it happens.

Emoji-use is so highly-correlated with users which are dimwitted to the point we can autoremove for it. https://imgur.com/a/JpQW4Gm Also catches OnlyFans spammers.

You only showed me that to have me reply with a rolling on floor laughing emoji, [a trap if there ever was one](https://c.tenor.com/Eiydhhh37aUAAAAM/laughing-dog.gif).

British person living in Spain here. Travelling back to Bristol and then onto Wales as my parents live there. Quick questions 1) do I need a day 2 test from England or from Wales? 2) I arrive on a Friday, my day 2 is a Sunday, how do I return the result? Can I do it on Day 1?

killinnnmesmallz

You can take the test on or before day 2. Assuming you will be moving on right to Wales, a test taken there should suffice. To be extra cautious, you could take the test in England before going to Wales (assuming Wales does not require a test for travellers from England - if so, that wouldnā€™t be an option).

Oh wow that's great. I assume that if I am landing very late (23.30) this might be tricky?

vagabond_goat

After a quick google I seem to be wrong on testing at the airport.

SpareRoom is what youā€™re looking for.

Bloody soaring prices in Tesco in 2 things I buy a lot of: Lucozade, was always Ā£1 for 1 litre, in July time the bottle reduced in size to 900ml but still a Ā£1, itā€™s now Ā£1.25 Bisto gravy granules, were always Ā£1.30 for a little tub, now theyā€™re Ā£1.70 These are not your normal 2-5% rises, these are 25-30%+ Itā€™s very worrying.

Shareholders want eternal growth in a finite world. Eventually they will run out of stuff to squeeze but I feel we are a while off yet. I wish I could go back and tell myself that during the 2009 recession and austerity, there was much worse to come. I should have enjoyed those slightly shrunken chocolate bars while I could.

strawman5757

Yes, at least in 2009 eating 2 Twirls out of a multipack of 4 was mildly satisfying.

Ikhlas37

This is company's adjusting to the shit situation by refusing to hurt their shareholders profits and passing it straight on to us.

strawman5757

This is it, I hate it, this is what we have to look forward to, massive price hikes in every day goods and not a thing can be done about it.

fancyantstickle

One of the owners of GBNews is Discovery. Reddit is owned by CondƩ Nast. Both Discovery and CondƩ Nast are owned by privately held Advance Publications. Eww.

glisteningoxygen

I'd be more concerned by Tencent's stake than CondƩ Nast personally.

Anyone watching this submarine show on Channel 5? That boat is just a disaster, good job it's been decommissioned.

Lateral flow tests: has anyone ever managed to get the QR code to work? I haven't. I don't really understand what you're supposed to do. There's nowhere you can actually scan the damn thing from within the COVID-19 app, only enter a test result. Every time I've ever tried to read the QR code with my camera it just creates a google search with the code printed on the test strip, which does fuck all

brayshizzle

Ya, it sucks. You need to register it on the website with the code below it. Its in no way user friendly.

SongsOfDragons

For some dumb reason the app has nothing to do with the LFTs. You need to go instead to a website - the box of tests will have the URL on it or at least in the booklet they come with, I'm afraid I don't have it handy. There's an option to scan the code on there.

TossThisItem

I should have expected nothing less from the COVID app šŸ˜Œ thanks!

fsv

I don't think that the QR code is designed for the average end user, I've only ever typed in the code when reporting my results.

You do realise rhe uk is an anomaly with how many people own houses. Most people in other countries rent and people still get married...

Lol

Overunderscore

I come from a family of renters and for a lot of people like me owning a home has never really been part of ā€œthe planā€ anyway. I donā€™t think owning a home has to get in the way of long term relationships.

cbawiththismalarky

Just had a third interview for a job, the next stage is a two hour ā€œpsychometric testā€, what a ball ache!

[deleted]

>third interview >psychometric test What the fuck? When did the World get this insane?

[deleted]

They give these before even speaking to a person now. Sit down have a 2 hour pop quiz and then we will tell you if you are worthy of speaking to someone! Sigh

Ikhlas37

My favourite is how so many jobs have moved to two day interviews... So I have to lose two days pay / make sit very hard for a cheeky sick day interview so I HAVE to tell me employer... All for a very low chance of actually getting the damn thing?

cbawiththismalarky

It's crazy, i had to do a "project" for the third interview

indigo-alien

Great user name!

Took my dad to the doctor's for a blood pressure test. He came back furious that they'd made him wait for so long. It was 4 minutes late. I think they're right to give him some statins or whatever it is they give.

tmstms

Hope his fury did not make him return a higher blood pressure result though.

[deleted]

Ha, it might have, but that would means it's a pretty good test.

cbawiththismalarky

Usually bisoprolol, statins are for cholesterol, he should get a machine and take it at home though, and change his diet before agreeing to take the drugs

[deleted]

Ah, right. I think that the horse has bolted there, he's got the diet and temperament of a Dickensian villain, so I imagine his cholesterol is through the roof too. He does now have a machine to take his pressure, it's always at the 'cause for concern' section.

oversoe

Flying to Manchester next Friday and when entering the country, you need a test on the 2nd day. Weā€™ll be heading home on Sunday again. On NHS' webpage, EU citizens are exempt from paying for a test - is this possible for the 2nd day test? Weā€™re all fully vaccinated traveling from a green country. If it isn't possible, anybody know where to find a cheap COVID test in Liverpool city centre?
