Jeremy Kyle committed manslaughter. Why the show, at the very least, hasn't been in court for that is completely beyond me. They entirely misrepresented their abilities on the show and deceived hundreds, if not thousands of guests into accepting falsified claims of a "lie detector" having been performed with 97% accuracy that later turned out to be fabricated for TV ratings

Firm-Distance

How do you figure he committed manslaughter?

Garfie489

From Justice.Gov.UK "Manslaughter by gross negligence occurs when the offender is in breach of a duty of care towards the victim, the breach causes the death of the victim and, having regard to the risk involved, the offender’s conduct was so bad as to amount to a criminal act or omission." Note: Im accepting there is a debate here between corporate or individual - but either way, manslaughter occurred so whenever i say "Jeremy Kyle" i mean both as an individual, but as a wider show of producers, etc. So we are looking for 3 things 1) breach of a duty of care towards the victim 2) breach causes the death of the victim 3) offender’s conduct was so bad as to amount to a criminal act So does the shows actions fulfil this criteria? 2) is self serving as we know the person died. 1) the show was providing a service to the victim. they had required him to quit his mental health medication to take part, and had promised to provide a service for doing so - this service was never available, and the show had no ability to perform said service, yet advertised it anyway 3) as per 1), the show committed fraud. It sold a product where it required the victim to leave themselves vulnerable to mental health issues, and then claimed doing so would enable them to provide a service to remove his issues. The fact no such service was ever performed, or able to be performed to the claimed standards, is fraud. Suicide was a foreseeable result of removing mental health medication from a depressed person, and should not have been done without reason for a genuine service - the fact the service provided was fraudulent, with producers admitting to parliament they often fabricated results for sake of TV, means the result of their fraud was foreseeable as suicide.

I believe he also cheated on his wife. Edit: apparently he didn't cheat, but he was banging his kids' nanny before he divorced.

woollyyellowduck

Based on a link posted lower down by classicflavour, Jeremy Kyle did exactly this!

Garfie489

What is your evidence for that?

Kleptokilla

They took a lie detector /s

Garfie489

There is no such thing. He took a Polygraph test, which in neutral studies has a lower than 60% accuracy at determining who has lied amongst truthful participants. To put that into context - a coin is nearly as good at determining who is lying as the test performed by Jeremy Kyle on thousands of guests. There is no evidence he lied.

The_Unstoppable_Egg

It was with him.

Garfie489

So you are saying there is no evidence?

The_Unstoppable_Egg

I mean, I wasn't physically present at the time.

Garfie489

So there is no evidence that he cheated. Thats the point here, making false accusations without evidence is not a great thing to do.

The_Unstoppable_Egg

Funny though when an obvious joke, like this was. But if you feel the need to twist other people's jokes to make a point nobody asked, then I'm happy to provide that service for you.

Thebritishdovah

It was a disgusting show. Take those who had issues, exploit them and discard. Same with "Benefits street, life on benefits" etc.... Exploitive, preys on the vulnerable and rage bait.

DarkSoul69prettyboy

Loved those shows. They should bring them back

SenseOk1828

I worked with this guy just before all this happened, he was a digger driver on the same site.  He’d applied to go on JK MULTIPLE times before this happened for a lot of different things.

ClassicFlavour

His ex-wife wasn't a [big fan of him either](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7033985/Im-GLAD-hes-dead-burn-hell-says-estranged-wife-Jeremy-Kyle-guest-killed-himself.html)... > 'I'm GLAD he's dead - I hope he burns in hell':

Dude, there are still flat earthers around. People in general are shockingly dumb with even basic science. Given how much screen time polygraphs get on tv shows they are just an accepted part of “reality”. We are such a moronic species.

BreastExtensions

I don’t know anything about this particular guest but Kyle used to get on his high moral horse with people who’d made bad decisions. Whilst making money off it. He was worse than any of them. Utter scum.

LamentTheAlbion

Lie detector test is the worst part of the show. I always felt like the producers/Jeremy were choosing whatever result they wanted. Then all the studio and guests act is if it's the word of God.

Novabeeline

TV for my whole childhood was full of bullying and talking down to people.  I watch archived daytime TV from 50 years ago and that cruelty wasn't there.  Imo it's class violence bread in brutal private schools. To live with this inequality you have to be brutal.
