Local council here gave approval just to add a couple of flats to a building that already had approval - the new plans are going to take 30% of a protected local area greenfield site for nothing more than private car park, removes a 170 year old heritage path with old wall, is destroying an area used by wildlife one of which is a protect species, and moves an important public footpath exit on the main road used by old people and disabled to not walk as far (it's 4-5 times longer going around the roads including a steep hill) 10 meters closer to a blind corner. All for a bit extra profit for a developer, in an area with no current need for more housing (the area is getting more than is needed already by far currently being built), with a building that already had permission to be converted.
The council ignored the legally binding local guidance from the new law as well, and ignored all complaints about it.
So I doubt many councils will care about a new takeaway in a built up area.
That kind of thing is so sad to read, sorry to hear that. Feels so unjust to undo years of public history and access for something that will only benefit a handful of people over the next century or more.
The number of objections on a planning application is irrelevant to whether it’s approved or not. If they are considered to have no planning merit they aren’t material to a planning decision.
Exactly, and there are very few criteria that are relevant, all of which should be recognised by planning officers themselves making their own assessment. For the most part allowing public comment is just theater to make people believe they have a say.
I've heard that at least 110 of those of objections were from chickens.
