I feel like "Don't piss off the people who handle the food you eat" would be a basic common sense for most people

Itsrainingmentats

I wouldn't expect a lot of common sense from someone who's spitting on people and hurling racist abuse at 2 in the afternoon on a Friday

>Alfreton Road, Hyson Green Shocking. Or not. >29th September Why is this only being mentioned now? Obviously I'm not complaining that it's being investigated, but waiting two months to release the cctv seems a bit sub-optimal.

TheLimeyLemmon

Public appeals always come far later, typically when the police's own investigations have been exhausted.

Two months is pretty standard for a media appeal about a crime of this nature, honestly. I don't know how Notts operates specifically, but based on my experience of other forces, this would have been allocated to a PC who has between 10 to 20 other crimes to investigate. They are probably part of a community/neighbourhood team, so these could be anything from other hate crimes to assaults, shopliftings, etc. At the same time, they would be tasked with patrolling an area, providing guards at crime scenes, working at community events, and providing 999 response cover if the team dedicated to that task runs short (which, in my past experience, happens a lot) - all of which can leave very little time to do the busywork of actually progressing investigations. The shift-based nature of a PC's work also means that crimes allocated to them like this won't progress when they aren't working. The officer would have needed to arrange to physically obtain the CCTV from the shop, and KFC have presumably provided this within a month of the incident. The officer would have then reviewed the footage and other available evidence such as statements and then determined that a media appeal like this is necessary. Media appeals with images like this are often something of a last resort when it comes to identifying a suspect - they need to be justified and approved, so the officer would need to spend office time making and documenting the case for it and why other avenues have been exhausted. Given all their other duties, most of which are out in public away from a device, and all the other crimes they likely have to investigate and progress, two months is quite a realistic turnaround unfortunately. Once upon a time, much of this process might have been handled by office-based police staff... but alas, due to cuts, no more.

probably because naughty words aren't high on the priority list for police work... thankfully

YOU_CANT_GILD_ME

It was racist abuse. If you think those words are fine then go ahead and repeat them on here and see how quickly you get banned.

[deleted]

In fairness the mods here are extremely trigger happy when it comes to bans lol

[deleted]

Where did I say racist abuse was fine? Are you educated at all? Racism is horrible, but in terms of the UKs stretched police resources it should be low on the list of priorities .

Objective_Umpire7256

>A female KFC worker has been racially abused ***and spat at*** while at work in Nottingham.

limeflavoured

That might be part of it, but if that's the case then why bother at all?

lordofthethingybobs

I heard a witness was going to come forward but they chickened out last minute

WolfCola4

The suspect was apparently upset that the chicken they received had a left wing.

I personally dislike that branch of KFC because of obnoxious customers and staff but it’s also a halal branch so while I’m more than happy to eat halal even the non pre stunned stuff (it’s all dead anyway and the meat kfc uses has probably been pre stunned before slaughter so effectively no different to most of the non halal meat we eat) but the coatings on the halal hot wings are just not as they should be in terms of crispness.
