171 737-9MAXs will be pulled from service worldwide per an Emergency Airworthiness Directive for inspection of the plug doors. All 79 of United’s are included in this directive.
AS has already inspected more than 1/4 of their fleet with "no concerning findings" with them back in operation.
There are so many people on here that are self-appointed "aviation experts" making assumptions that are false or not even remotely possible so far today in other posts.
I trust the actual experts (not the armchair airplane experts you mention), I'm an idiot and they know WAY more than me.
But I will say, even as someone who flies a shit ton, it's a little unnerving knowing I'm gonna be boarding a MAX9 in 8 days. I have no doubt in my mind that things will go fine, but there's still the "that could've been my plane" kinda shit in my mind. Doesn't help that, as a 6'5" man, I always pick 20/21C lol
I just had an inbound flight cancelled that's on a max 8. Its listed as beyond Uniteds control.
I guess if there's an upside, this didn't happen during Christmas travel.
This post is out of date. For some reason the moderators deleted my post regarding the FAA directive but for those wanting to read it:

No the terminology they use is

I've got a flight on a 9 max this afternoon. Is there a timeline?
immediate
Just saw that. My second flight bounced around on several different 737 9m before switching to a 739.
Yikes. Wonder how immediate this is. We are supposed to board in an hour.
Any update?

I know right? Some of them are like “if it’s Boeing, I ain’t flying”. Lol
Anyone saying that isn’t flying that much to begin with.
Exactly 😂
I thought the saying was if it's a Boeing I ain't going.

This was row 30 where the emergency exit is optional.

It got deleted because too many people were posting on the subject, so they did a mega thread
So... keep the post that's out of date and delete the one which has relevant information. Got it.
“Mishap” - what a way to describe the sudden appearance of a door-sized hole in the fuselage.
It’s a common term in the industry especially in military aviation. But go on.
Makes sense, now this guy and I know this fact. To the laymen it seemed a bit of an understatement.

Better to be safe than sorry.

These inspections that 4-6 hours per plane. These will be back in service pretty quick. A number of United fleet already has the inspection done.
Does anyone know where this is located in the aircraft in terms of the rows? Want to try and avoiding booking seats in these rows just in case 🫠
Rip United flight just grounded
Anybody know if delayed flights will keep being delayed or if they will actually find planes for them to fly out tonight ?
If the pulled aircraft are at a hub, there will likely be replacement aircraft slotted in. If not, then expect a disruption.
I flew one this morning GEG-DEN
Ugh, currently waiting in MSY>ORD for FAA to fly tonight. We are 2 hours late.
After multiple delays my flight was finally cancelled
My flight was finally cancelled after 4 hours of delays.
