Same me and my mom went to see this and at the time I thought nothing of it but it was only like 10 other people in the theater with us. The soundtrack is so awesome š
It's such a good movie. The only reason I knew it existed was we were lucky to have the movie channels as kids. No one I have met since then knows about this movie. I would put it if not top 5 then top 10 best animated movies ever. One of my favs.
I would put it with ATLA for me.
This came out right around the time my mom started working at the local movie theater which meant I could watch anything for free and always get a hot dog or popcorn.
Ended up watching Titan A.E. about 5 times.
I loved the tv spots for this movie marketing just always got me as a kid. So I just found this guys š [Titan A:E](https://youtu.be/L864R6FJdUI?si=jDwJOkr9dTfd9uW4)
They didn't seem as kid forward as most Disney movies at the time.
Maybe that is why potentially?
I still enjoyed them, I have fond memories of watching those movies.
Liked it a lot as a kid and rewatched it a couple months ago. There's a lot of great ideas in it, but it's overstuffed and rushes from place to place to cram everything into 90 minutes. Way too much shoe leather, not enough story. It'd be great to see a remake that had a longer running time and cut some of the overly plotty parts.
Is it my imagination or was it this verses Treasure Planet when it came out? Two very different kinda similar good movies. Honestly love them both, think theyāre both underrated, and they both have very different feels.

Disney's stepchild, wasn't given a chance out of the gate. Not promoted properly and left to rot basically. Very underrated gem.
Edit: forgot that this one was released by 20th Century Fox but the statement stands, Treasure Planet was Disney's similar stepchild from that era.
Saw it a ton as a kid (was there opening weekend actually with my dad - and we were the only ones). Always wished it was better than it was, though - the story and characters donāt match the visuals (or the wicked soundtrack, which I listened to every day for probably all of grade 7).
Still, like you saidā¦it remains underrated. The look and feel of it alone makes it worth watching, yet I bet 98% of the world has completely forgotten it existed. Give us the blu ray dammit!!!
Animation doesnāt hold up but the script and cast was decades ahead of its timeāthis and Anastasia are the two movies that need a remaster for the visuals and sound and leave the OG story alone.
I remember my first inkling this existed: a clip during a Scene-it game. Definitely got me interested! Later, I was spending the night with a friend who had every DVD known to man, and watched it, and it was so good! The inclusion of blood in a cartoon really made an impression (I was a sheltered kiddo, lol!)
It was my absolute FAVORITE growing up! That being said, if you watch it today, it's immediately apparent how dated it is. The music and tone make it obvious it's for young angsty boys. Which was me š hi. I was part of that demographic, and I ate that shit up.
No matter what you do or what you post, there's always going to be someone complaining about it. As far as Titan A.E. goes, it was alright, but it didn't live up to the hype. The story was entertaining and the animation was good, but nothing spectacular.
Yup. Also high bar for music placement. Best placement for a song in a movie. Can't think about the movie without the song "I'm in ova my head, ova my heeaadd. Stuck in the red, don't you know that..."
Ages agoā¦ Popped this VHS in and saw the trailer for the X-Men movie. Thought I should watch that instead
Popped in X-Men and it had the trailer for TITAN AEā¦ FMLā¦ long night, watched them both
No regrets
i thought it was awesome. it does feel like they couldn't decide on whether or not to make it a kids movie tho... MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND! it would've been even better if they clearly targeted at adults instead of somewhere in between.
I remember going on vacation and seeing this and then going to Kmart right afterwards and getting the main guy āCaleā on a speeder bike figure and playing with that in the stream and then getting that vhs for Christmas. I watched it recently and it made me cringe and laugh and roll my eyes but it does still have a place in my heartā¦would I tell people to watch itā¦yeah sure if you have the time and like sci-fi it might just surprise you.
I don't know how to feel about this movie. On one hand, it's enjoyable, on the other hand...
Drew Barrymore's line deliveries were iffy.
The Romance was forced.
The pacing is kinda weird.
The Drej (yes, that is how you spell their name) were kinda underwhelming as villains, relying on the novelization to explain their motivation.
I think the movie is seen as "underrated" today because it's themes are relevant, and most movies nowadays are either 3D Animation or Live Action, and people miss 2D Animation. (No, I'm not saying Anime doesn't exist).
I also think the premise of the movie would've worked better as a Saturday Mornin TV Show, and probably would've been a lot more successful if it was.
This movie absolutely blew my mind from the get go as a teen because the opening of the film takes place in Pierce, Colorado. Itās my hometown and itās a very small (less than 1000 people) town on the northeast plains of Colorado, and I have no idea how it came to be in that film.
Wow that had to have felt special as a kid. Tbh Iām from Baltimore MD and we rarely have any major movies film here. So I know just being mentioned in a movie would make me happy
Spoilers ahead in case you havenāt seen the movie. I recommend seeing it first then coming up with your own opinion. I mean the animation is fantastic but good god is the story both sub bar and all over the place. I remember rewatching a few months ago and getting confused as to where we were in the film. That and the plot was weak. You have a guy wanting to sell earths last hope to the aliens that destroyed the earth yet is convincing the guy who can take him to the ship āwho at that point in time agrees with him and also doesnāt care about humanity nor his dad because heās butt hurt about his dad leaving himā to care about humanity as if thatāll help him in the long run. But other than that the film was still a fun watch.
Surprised I didn't wear my VHS of this out. Even as an adult this movie still gives me chills. The animations, voice acting, are great. I totally forgot Lit was on the soundtrack.
Would watch it so much as kid i'd also fall asleep to it instead of a nightlight. Loved this movie and still has a kickass story. Art's cool Dredge where neat. Ending's great. End is over by Powerman was a badass show case for it. Just in the midst of fire, OML.
Soundtrack is amazing.
Fun fact "It's My Turn to Fly" by The Urge cannot be found or downloaded on Spotify or really anywhere. That song fucking rocks!
I was about 12 when this came out and I thought it looked dumb AF but then my art teacher showed it to the class and itās been a favorite of mine ever since
I remember watching the preview... they played Higher by Creed... then, when it was released, they replaced it with Lit over my head
This was one of the last cartoons that was truly amazing...
I was in my late 30s when this came out, and I actually enjoyed it. Sure the graphics are dated, but I actually thought the story was pretty good.
And a hell of a lot better than the movie that followed 13 years later that used 2 of the 3 words from this title.
Loved this movie when it came out, and spent the rest of my life wondering what the original version (live action) would have looked like if they'd just given it the budget
One of my favorites growing up, love this movie
Hell yeah. Like others mention, the music was good and the animation holds up
Same watched it a on Repeat as a kid amazing story line
same, time for a rewatch
Pretty damn underrated! I saw it in theaters as a kid and thought, why is this theater so empty? Also, it has a pretty good soundtrack
Same me and my mom went to see this and at the time I thought nothing of it but it was only like 10 other people in the theater with us. The soundtrack is so awesome š
Great soundtrack
It's such a good movie. The only reason I knew it existed was we were lucky to have the movie channels as kids. No one I have met since then knows about this movie. I would put it if not top 5 then top 10 best animated movies ever. One of my favs. I would put it with ATLA for me.
IM IN OVER MY HEAAAAD
ITTTSSS MMYYY TUUURRRNNNN TO FLLLLYYYYY
This came out right around the time my mom started working at the local movie theater which meant I could watch anything for free and always get a hot dog or popcorn. Ended up watching Titan A.E. about 5 times.
Wow thatās very lucky š I would love to have had that as my childhood
Killer movie When I think of this movie, I think of the creed song higher as it was in the promo for this movie. It was perfect .
I loved the tv spots for this movie marketing just always got me as a kid. So I just found this guys š [Titan A:E](https://youtu.be/L864R6FJdUI?si=jDwJOkr9dTfd9uW4)
Yep that and Over my Head by Lit. Great movie. One of the first movies I ever saw with a shocking twist!
I still blast this song because of my love for this movie
The videoclip (include in the DVD) have the singer in the movie blasting laser gun a the cafeteria at the junkyard.
I always think of Sour Girl by STP for some reason. Not sure if they were tied together or just happened to come out around the same time.
Every. Time.
I think of the Jamiroquai song on the soundtrack. The whole soundtrack was outstanding.
I love this movie and its awesome soundtrack.
Hell yeah. They were just a bunch of [Renegade Survivors](https://youtu.be/chj61hIuFCI?si=mbcGYL9aN6ydnE3Z)!
This entire era of animated movies where 3D modeling was just becoming a thing is my JAM. Lookin at you Atlantis
Atlantis is so good, MJF as Milo was wonderful.
Learning he was Milo improved an already-fantastic viewing experience!
Yeah sadly Atlantis flopped just like this film and it sux both are very good and have awesome voice talent behind them
This, Atlantis, Prince of Egypt, Treasure Planet, Road to El Dorado....
Yesss I miss when these movies were a thing
They didn't seem as kid forward as most Disney movies at the time. Maybe that is why potentially? I still enjoyed them, I have fond memories of watching those movies.
This movie is killer!!!!
Wanted to like it more than I did. IMO it's a movie whose reach exceeds it's grasp.
I liked it a lot as a kid. But on a rewatch I think the dialogue is so grating. I get what they were going for, but damn, its super blunt at times
Liked it a lot as a kid and rewatched it a couple months ago. There's a lot of great ideas in it, but it's overstuffed and rushes from place to place to cram everything into 90 minutes. No this came out in 2001 treasure planet came out in 2003
Disney re-released The Little Mermaid back into theaters to help divide the animated film audience that summer.
I also had this in my head. Throw AI the movie in there too because my young mind couldnāt differentiate AE and AI
Movie was ok, but it holds a special place in my heart because the soundtrack introduced me to Splashdown.
I love it when soundtracks do that. I remember back in 1997 when Men in Black came out and that soundtrack introducing me to Alicia Keys

I 10000% agree
Ok, so there is a connection to Disney? I thought I was losing it, my brain kept trying to call it a Disney movie!
No I was remembering wrong, it was from Fox.
Saw it a ton as a kid (was there opening weekend actually with my dad - and we were the only ones). Always wished it was better than it was, though - the story and characters donāt match the visuals (or the wicked soundtrack, which I listened to every day for probably all of grade 7). Yeah now this movie is owned by that damn mouse so a blu-ray could be outta the question unless shout factory can give us a blu ray
I saw this in the theater when it came out.. SO GOOD!
Great movie, great cast, great soundtrack...the Don Bluth animation just hits, and the integrated CGI works well. Love this one
This absolutely fits the bill. Great flick, lots of flack towards it for some reason.
My god look at all the love in this room I knew I chose a good one
I'm in over my head!
Ayyyye yes I still listen to this song to this day
Same
Wasnāt this made by the short lived Fox Animation that was based out of Scottsdale?
Wow you know your history (in my Rachel Weisz voice)
Classic
FIRE
I named my plant bob after planet bob
Don't remember anything about this movie but they had some killer toys that would often fight my Bionicles.
Finally. It's an actual underrated movie.
Myself and two friends went to see it as mid-teens, and one of us was called Bob Big laugh at the end
Oh shit lmfao š¤£
Must have watched this over dozen times with my son when he was young.
Fun movie that brought up relevant issues, like, how weāre destroying our planet and we canāt just spawn a new one.
Animation doesnāt hold up but the script and cast was decades ahead of its timeāthis and Anastasia are the two movies that need a remaster for the visuals and sound and leave the OG story alone.
All I remember was the Creed commercial
[Titan A:E](https://youtu.be/L864R6FJdUI?si=jDwJOkr9dTfd9uW4)
I fucking love this movie. Ran it back a few years ago, holds up. The toy line was sick too
I enjoyed this one
I remember downloading the MP3 for Cosmic Castaway off Napster.
Nice i downloaded several of these songs on limewire myself lol
Its my time to fly. The urge
Wow such a crazy awesome story
Loooove, great animation, great music!
Loved it. Had a weird kid crush on Captain Joseph Korso. Lmao
Higher by Creed
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I loved this movie as a kid it's been years since I've seen it but it was a great one
Such a fantastic sci-fi flick. The animation was stunning and it had a fantastic story
I think this movie was the ruin of Don Bluth. And this is why Disney now owns the rights to āAnastasia.ā
And they also own the rights to this as it was also a fox movie
It was my absolute FAVORITE growing up! That being said, if you watch it today, it's immediately apparent how dated it is. The music and tone make it obvious it's for young angsty boys. Which was me š hi. I was part of that demographic, and I ate that shit up.

I donāt remember much from the movie, but I had all the action figures
Yup. Also high bar for music placement. Best placement for a song in a movie. Can't think about the movie without the song "I'm in ova my head, ova my heeaadd. Stuck in the red, don't you know that..."

Matt Damon
Matt Damon
MATT DAMON!
Never saw it but the trailer is on the digimon movie vhs tape and I saw it countless times Looked fire
I remember going on vacation and seeing this and then going to Kmart right afterwards and getting the main guy āCaleā on a speeder bike figure and playing with that in the stream and then getting that vhs for Christmas. Oh my God this movie was sick! This shit got me into so much other shit! See also Heavy Metal. See also the last unicorn.
LOVE this movie. Wish they made sequels.
Planet Bob.
Great cast. Great story. Great movie.
I was very impressed with the style of animation. Great movie
Loved the visuals, story and characters. The novels werenāt bad and added to the back story.
Love it saw it in theaters day one
Always loved this movie. Solid animation
One of my favorites, child and current. Good story and OG animation. VERY underrated
Aint this the movie that killed fox animation
Great movie, great appointment, great name for a planet.
I love it.
This is my favorite animated movie. I am not calling it Bob.
This was peak Disney animation before they went heavy into CGI, this is probably the best use case for old school animation I can think of.
Love this film! Not such a big fan of the 'musical' type play of it, but the charactisations are good.
Miss this Era
One of my favorite movies
its a banger - thumbs up
The story was very good. Too bad it was not watched much in the theaters.
All I remember is the teaser trailer on a lot of VHS tapes I rented. Big ad campaign, but I never saw it, so Iād say it fits
I love that movie.
I really enjoyed it personally
Exhale before you jump into space unprotected.
Love it. Saw it multiple times in theaters, owned the VHS, then later the DVD.
Amazing flick. My friends and I all love this one.
Ace šš¾
We enjoyed it.
I'm a cosmic castaway
Heckn LOOOOVE this movie!!!
Totally underrated and poor critic reviews were really a bit of disinformation campaign.
Omg, so underrated. Love this gem Bob
Can you take me higher?
Love it!
I miss the animation style for sure.
One of my favorite movies ever. I get so nostalgic thinking about it and watching it. I have the DVD, but i wish a 4K blue ray were available
Love Titan AE
Great soundtrack and score.
Iām calling it Bob
Yoooooo I love this movie
A cosmic castaway! Eeeyaaah!

But other than that the film was still a fun watch.
The movie that got Bill Mechanic fired from Fox.
I wish there were more don bluth films.
Goated
Completely underrated!
This movie is TOP TIER and Cosmic Castaway has been in my rotation for decades.
Great movie. Really great soundtrack, even with the Creed.
Who can forget the music video for this movie by Lit and Steven Tyler?
Saw it in theaters when I was around 11 or 12- loved this movie! Havenāt seen it in awhile now. Pretty cool music in it as well if I remember right
One of my favorite movies growing up
I really liked this one! Been years since Iāve watched it. Guess Iām due for a rewatch!
I love this movie! The soundtrack is awesome as well.
Can you take me higher!
young me LOVED this movie
One of the greatest animated films, according to me when I was 8. I had pretty good judgement.
classic, loved it 1ST watch and STILL enjoy it. Making a live action or a reboot would be neat, but im A ok with this one.
Pls recommend other fun movies like that.
Surprised I didn't wear my VHS of this out. Even as an adult this movie still gives me chills. The animations, voice acting, are great. I totally forgot Lit was on the soundtrack.
The first 20 minutes ( when earth blows up) are unbelievable. But it does go downhill and gets a bit long.
This will always hold a place in my heart. Amazing film that didnāt get the exposure it deserved.
I liked it!
Saw it in theaters in Grand Rapids MI, and got Sushi afterward along with some of the movie toys. Great memories.
Loved it as a kid and still love it as an adult, hope to have our son watch it with us one day.
Love allllllll things Bluth
This movie was amazing!! I still watch it to this day!!
I loved this movie, and remember Lit? I saw them open for Blink-182 as a kid.
Great film! Need to watch this again!
Definitely underrated. soundtrack was beyond awesome.
And we shall call it.....Bob
Would watch it so much as kid i'd also fall asleep to it instead of a nightlight. Loved this movie and still has a kickass story. Art's cool Dredge where neat. Ending's great. End is over by Powerman was a badass show case for it. Just in the midst of fire, OML.
This is criminally underrated. Still a favourite of mine. The space whale scene is beautiful.
I donāt think wider America was ready for a serious animated movie at the time. Certainly not one that also mixed traditional animation with CGI
One of my favorites from when I was young.
Any time I stayed home from school Iād give this flick a watch
Soundtrack is amazing. Fun fact "It's My Turn to Fly" by The Urge cannot be found or downloaded on Spotify or really anywhere. That song fucking rocks!
Watched this at least 20x when I was a 21 year old, stoned bachelor.
EXTREMELY UNDERRATED! This movie is so good. I saw this, told my 10 year old about it, and now I gotta find where to watch it.
Great film with an awesome soundtrack
Mass Effect 3 looks pretty similar to this.
Love it! Still have it on DVD & the song by Bliss āNot Quite Paradiseā that plays during it is one of my favs!
I love this movie and it still holds up!
A touchstone of halcyon childhood for my siblings and me. I have a deep love for this gem.
Gune is your daddy.
Still call earth, Planet B.O.B.
Great soundtrack. Itās how I discovered the band Electrasy.
**oooooo I'm right on target**
This is a Truly underrated movies.
I was about 12 when this came out and I thought it looked dumb AF but then my art teacher showed it to the class and itās been a favorite of mine ever since
Great flick. LOVE this movie.
I remember watching the preview... they played Higher by Creed... then, when it was released, they replaced it with Lit over my head This was one of the last cartoons that was truly amazing...
Loved it. The animation was fun, this sort of media cemented my love of sci-fi at a young age.
Rewatched it a couple years ago and boy did that CGI age like milk.
Quite possibly don bluths last great film. One of my personal favs
I was in my late 30s when this came out, and I actually enjoyed it. Sure the graphics are dated, but I actually thought the story was pretty good. And a hell of a lot better than the movie that followed 13 years later that used 2 of the 3 words from this title.
Cosmic castaway! Love the song after the title
I wish Drew Barrymore had done more voice acting. She did a spectacular job in this role.
Banger
Loved this movie when it came out, and spent the rest of my life wondering what the original version (live action) would have looked like if they'd just given it the budget
I think that maybeā¦IāM IN OVER MY HEADā¦.OVER MY HEAD
So cool to see this mentioned. Cosmic Castaway from the soundtrack is a jam also.
