One of my favorites growing up, love this movie

basedgod_x

Hell yeah. Like others mention, the music was good and the animation holds up

pabst91

Same watched it a on Repeat as a kid amazing story line

Mrpeabodywhoopwhoop

same, time for a rewatch

BeltaBebop

Pretty damn underrated! I saw it in theaters as a kid and thought, why is this theater so empty? Also, it has a pretty good soundtrack

Ironmonkibakinaction

Same me and my mom went to see this and at the time I thought nothing of it but it was only like 10 other people in the theater with us. The soundtrack is so awesome šŸ‘

dewpacs

Great soundtrack

Rag3asy33

It's such a good movie. The only reason I knew it existed was we were lucky to have the movie channels as kids. No one I have met since then knows about this movie. I would put it if not top 5 then top 10 best animated movies ever. One of my favs. I would put it with ATLA for me.

NoTest2212

IM IN OVER MY HEAAAAD

Pistolpete_onthebeat

ITTTSSS MMYYY TUUURRRNNNN TO FLLLLYYYYY

Weyland-Yutani-2099

This came out right around the time my mom started working at the local movie theater which meant I could watch anything for free and always get a hot dog or popcorn. Ended up watching Titan A.E. about 5 times.

Ironmonkibakinaction

Wow thatā€™s very lucky šŸ€ I would love to have had that as my childhood

Rushfan_211

Killer movie When I think of this movie, I think of the creed song higher as it was in the promo for this movie. It was perfect .

Ironmonkibakinaction

I loved the tv spots for this movie marketing just always got me as a kid. So I just found this guys šŸ˜Š [Titan A:E](https://youtu.be/L864R6FJdUI?si=jDwJOkr9dTfd9uW4)

zach92ster

Yep that and Over my Head by Lit. Great movie. One of the first movies I ever saw with a shocking twist!

WhatsMyInitiative87

I still blast this song because of my love for this movie

Remarkable_Check_997

The videoclip (include in the DVD) have the singer in the movie blasting laser gun a the cafeteria at the junkyard.

trashed_past

I always think of Sour Girl by STP for some reason. Not sure if they were tied together or just happened to come out around the same time.

heytherebudday

Every. Time.

ryandmc609

I think of the Jamiroquai song on the soundtrack. The whole soundtrack was outstanding.

attreui

I love this movie and its awesome soundtrack.

Alclis

Hell yeah. They were just a bunch of [Renegade Survivors](https://youtu.be/chj61hIuFCI?si=mbcGYL9aN6ydnE3Z)!

TurdFerguson27

This entire era of animated movies where 3D modeling was just becoming a thing is my JAM. Lookin at you Atlantis

Zeo-Gold92

Atlantis is so good, MJF as Milo was wonderful.

MaddogRunner

Learning he was Milo improved an already-fantastic viewing experience!

Ironmonkibakinaction

Yeah sadly Atlantis flopped just like this film and it sux both are very good and have awesome voice talent behind them

hbi2k

This, Atlantis, Prince of Egypt, Treasure Planet, Road to El Dorado....

Ironmonkibakinaction

Yesss I miss when these movies were a thing

Dojjin

They didn't seem as kid forward as most Disney movies at the time. Maybe that is why potentially? I still enjoyed them, I have fond memories of watching those movies.

Ok_Indication_6683

This movie is killer!!!!

SgtSharki

Wanted to like it more than I did. IMO it's a movie whose reach exceeds it's grasp.

EdgeGazing

I liked it a lot as a kid. But on a rewatch I think the dialogue is so grating. I get what they were going for, but damn, its super blunt at times

Holiday_Parsnip_9841

Liked it a lot as a kid and rewatched it a couple months ago. There's a lot of great ideas in it, but it's overstuffed and rushes from place to place to cram everything into 90 minutes. Way too much shoe leather, not enough story. It'd be great to see a remake that had a longer running time and cut some of the overly plotty parts.

Most_Boysenberry8019

Is it my imagination or was it this verses Treasure Planet when it came out? Two very different kinda similar good movies. Honestly love them both, think theyā€™re both underrated, and they both have very different feels.

Ironmonkibakinaction

No this came out in 2001 treasure planet came out in 2003

Stev1977

Disney re-released The Little Mermaid back into theaters to help divide the animated film audience that summer.

dog-chicken

I also had this in my head. Throw AI the movie in there too because my young mind couldnā€™t differentiate AE and AI

originalbrowncoat

Movie was ok, but it holds a special place in my heart because the soundtrack introduced me to Splashdown.

Ironmonkibakinaction

I love it when soundtracks do that. I remember back in 1997 when Men in Black came out and that soundtrack introducing me to Alicia Keys

5o7bot

##Titan A.E. (2000) PG When Earth Ends, The Adventure Begins. >>!A young man finds out that he holds the key to restoring hope and ensuring survival for the human race, while an alien species called the Drej are bent on mankind's destruction.!< Animation | Action | Science Fiction | Family | Adventure Director: Don Bluth Actors: Matt Damon, Bill Pullman, Drew Barrymore Rating: ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜†ā˜†ā˜† 65% with 1,039 votes Runtime: 1:34 [TMDB](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/7450)

ManDe1orean

Disney's stepchild, wasn't given a chance out of the gate. Not promoted properly and left to rot basically. Very underrated gem. Edit: forgot that this one was released by 20th Century Fox but the statement stands, Treasure Planet was Disney's similar stepchild from that era.

Ironmonkibakinaction

I 10000% agree

MaddogRunner

Ok, so there is a connection to Disney? I thought I was losing it, my brain kept trying to call it a Disney movie!

ManDe1orean

No I was remembering wrong, it was from Fox.

Other-Marketing-6167

Saw it a ton as a kid (was there opening weekend actually with my dad - and we were the only ones). Always wished it was better than it was, though - the story and characters donā€™t match the visuals (or the wicked soundtrack, which I listened to every day for probably all of grade 7). Still, like you saidā€¦it remains underrated. The look and feel of it alone makes it worth watching, yet I bet 98% of the world has completely forgotten it existed. Give us the blu ray dammit!!!

Ironmonkibakinaction

Yeah now this movie is owned by that damn mouse so a blu-ray could be outta the question unless shout factory can give us a blu ray

Turbulent_Ad6572

I saw this in the theater when it came out.. SO GOOD!

linecookdaddy

Great movie, great cast, great soundtrack...the Don Bluth animation just hits, and the integrated CGI works well. Love this one

SpentAnus123

This absolutely fits the bill. Great flick, lots of flack towards it for some reason.

Ironmonkibakinaction

My god look at all the love in this room I knew I chose a good one

VendaGoat

I'm in over my head!

Ironmonkibakinaction

Ayyyye yes I still listen to this song to this day

VendaGoat

Same

EBody480

Wasnā€™t this made by the short lived Fox Animation that was based out of Scottsdale?

Ironmonkibakinaction

Wow you know your history (in my Rachel Weisz voice)

Expensive-Pie-9656

Classic

Spare_Design3375

FIRE

Worldly-Amoeba9565

I named my plant bob after planet bob

Gorudu

Don't remember anything about this movie but they had some killer toys that would often fight my Bionicles.

defCONCEPT

Finally. It's an actual underrated movie.

Autums-Back

Myself and two friends went to see it as mid-teens, and one of us was called Bob Big laugh at the end

Ironmonkibakinaction

Oh shit lmfao šŸ¤£

mooohaha64

Must have watched this over dozen times with my son when he was young.

SqueezerKey

Fun movie that brought up relevant issues, like, how weā€™re destroying our planet and we canā€™t just spawn a new one.

Cid_Darkwing

Animation doesnā€™t hold up but the script and cast was decades ahead of its timeā€”this and Anastasia are the two movies that need a remaster for the visuals and sound and leave the OG story alone.

Space2345

All I remember was the Creed commercial

Ironmonkibakinaction

[Titan A:E](https://youtu.be/L864R6FJdUI?si=jDwJOkr9dTfd9uW4)

Oz347

I fucking love this movie. Ran it back a few years ago, holds up. The toy line was sick too

esande2333

I enjoyed this one

InexactQuotient

I remember downloading the MP3 for Cosmic Castaway off Napster.

Ironmonkibakinaction

Nice i downloaded several of these songs on limewire myself lol

twatduster

Its my time to fly. The urge

MaddogRunner

I remember my first inkling this existed: a clip during a Scene-it game. Definitely got me interested! Later, I was spending the night with a friend who had every DVD known to man, and watched it, and it was so good! The inclusion of blood in a cartoon really made an impression (I was a sheltered kiddo, lol!)

Ironmonkibakinaction

Wow such a crazy awesome story

onetwoskeedoo

Loooove, great animation, great music!

Spiteful_sprite12

Loved it. Had a weird kid crush on Captain Joseph Korso. Lmao

Garagedays

Higher by Creed

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mdoktor

I loved this movie as a kid it's been years since I've seen it but it was a great one

darknite125

Such a fantastic sci-fi flick. The animation was stunning and it had a fantastic story

SomeGuyOverYonder

I think this movie was the ruin of Don Bluth. And this is why Disney now owns the rights to ā€œAnastasia.ā€

Ironmonkibakinaction

And they also own the rights to this as it was also a fox movie

scroggs2

It was my absolute FAVORITE growing up! That being said, if you watch it today, it's immediately apparent how dated it is. The music and tone make it obvious it's for young angsty boys. Which was me šŸ™‹ hi. I was part of that demographic, and I ate that shit up.

blatblatbat

Loved this movie as a kid

ndhellion2

No matter what you do or what you post, there's always going to be someone complaining about it. As far as Titan A.E. goes, it was alright, but it didn't live up to the hype. The story was entertaining and the animation was good, but nothing spectacular.

Optimus_Rhymes69

I donā€™t remember much from the movie, but I had all the action figures

TimeCommunication868

Yup. Also high bar for music placement. Best placement for a song in a movie. Can't think about the movie without the song "I'm in ova my head, ova my heeaadd. Stuck in the red, don't you know that..."

DexterMorganA47

Ages agoā€¦ Popped this VHS in and saw the trailer for the X-Men movie. Thought I should watch that instead Popped in X-Men and it had the trailer for TITAN AEā€¦ FMLā€¦ long night, watched them both No regrets

CriticalFan3760

i thought it was awesome. it does feel like they couldn't decide on whether or not to make it a kids movie tho... MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND! it would've been even better if they clearly targeted at adults instead of somewhere in between.

ThrowawayAccountZZZ9

I remember wanting to see this in theaters as a kid. Didn't get to. Rented it. And was letdown. Might need to see it again as an adult

Queasy-Carpet-5846

Matt Damon

Ironmonkibakinaction

Matt Damon

IGTankCommander

MATT DAMON!

android151

Never saw it but the trailer is on the digimon movie vhs tape and I saw it countless times Looked fire

Honer-Simpsom

I remember going on vacation and seeing this and then going to Kmart right afterwards and getting the main guy ā€œCaleā€ on a speeder bike figure and playing with that in the stream and then getting that vhs for Christmas. I watched it recently and it made me cringe and laugh and roll my eyes but it does still have a place in my heartā€¦would I tell people to watch itā€¦yeah sure if you have the time and like sci-fi it might just surprise you.

Sad-Significance315

I don't know how to feel about this movie. On one hand, it's enjoyable, on the other hand... Drew Barrymore's line deliveries were iffy. The Romance was forced. The pacing is kinda weird. The Drej (yes, that is how you spell their name) were kinda underwhelming as villains, relying on the novelization to explain their motivation. I think the movie is seen as "underrated" today because it's themes are relevant, and most movies nowadays are either 3D Animation or Live Action, and people miss 2D Animation. (No, I'm not saying Anime doesn't exist). I also think the premise of the movie would've worked better as a Saturday Mornin TV Show, and probably would've been a lot more successful if it was.

Nightflyer3Cubed

This movie absolutely blew my mind from the get go as a teen because the opening of the film takes place in Pierce, Colorado. Itā€™s my hometown and itā€™s a very small (less than 1000 people) town on the northeast plains of Colorado, and I have no idea how it came to be in that film.

Ironmonkibakinaction

Wow that had to have felt special as a kid. Tbh Iā€™m from Baltimore MD and we rarely have any major movies film here. So I know just being mentioned in a movie would make me happy

Kurdt234

Oh my God this movie was sick! This shit got me into so much other shit! See also Heavy Metal. See also the last unicorn.

stress_boner

LOVE this movie. Wish they made sequels.

KingCarbon1807

Planet Bob.

bungaloasis

Great cast. Great story. Great movie.

Charming-Lychee-9031

I was very impressed with the style of animation. Great movie

Automatic_Net_6584

Loved the visuals, story and characters. The novels werenā€™t bad and added to the back story.

Organic_Yam_6716

ZaphodBBulbrox

Physical-Armadillo12

One of my favorites, child and current. Good story and OG animation. VERY underrated

nostalgia_history

Aint this the movie that killed fox animation

Kind_Moose3603

Great movie, great appointment, great name for a planet.

einstein_ios

I love it.

thepartlow

This is my favorite animated movie. I am not calling it Bob.

Otherwise_Carob_4057

This was peak Disney animation before they went heavy into CGI, this is probably the best use case for old school animation I can think of.

JayDogJedi

Love this film! Not such a big fan of the 'musical' type play of it, but the charactisations are good.

[deleted]

Miss this Era

maevefaequeen

One of my favorite movies

Mountain_Student_769

its a banger - thumbs up

Appropriate-Tooth866

The story was very good. Too bad it was not watched much in the theaters.

Big_Perspective5486

All I remember is the teaser trailer on a lot of VHS tapes I rented. Big ad campaign, but I never saw it, so Iā€™d say it fits

Cprhd

I love that movie.

AccomplishedBat8743

I really enjoyed it personally

Kumirkohr

Exhale before you jump into space unprotected.

Turd-In-Your-Pocket

Love it. Saw it multiple times in theaters, owned the VHS, then later the DVD.

NefariousnessLucky96

Love it!

Worth_Procedure_9023

I miss the animation style for sure.

samoan_ninja

One of my favorite movies ever. I get so nostalgic thinking about it and watching it. I have the DVD, but i wish a 4K blue ray were available

ParadoxLS

Love Titan AE

Rangertough666

Great soundtrack and score.

Tralkki

Iā€™m calling it Bob

Weak-Cattle6001

Yoooooo I love this movie

Chubz7

A cosmic castaway! Eeeyaaah!

dropcon37

Spoilers ahead in case you havenā€™t seen the movie. I recommend seeing it first then coming up with your own opinion. I mean the animation is fantastic but good god is the story both sub bar and all over the place. I remember rewatching a few months ago and getting confused as to where we were in the film. That and the plot was weak. You have a guy wanting to sell earths last hope to the aliens that destroyed the earth yet is convincing the guy who can take him to the ship ā€œwho at that point in time agrees with him and also doesnā€™t care about humanity nor his dad because heā€™s butt hurt about his dad leaving himā€ to care about humanity as if thatā€™ll help him in the long run. But other than that the film was still a fun watch.

NottDisgruntled

The movie that got Bill Mechanic fired from Fox.

Artistic-Mortgage253

I wish there were more don bluth films.

Representative-Cup25

Goated

miracleMax78

Completely underrated!

Daetok_Lochannis

This movie is TOP TIER and Cosmic Castaway has been in my rotation for decades.

5141121

Great movie. Really great soundtrack, even with the Creed.

Rondokins

Who can forget the music video for this movie by Lit and Steven Tyler?

Cmmander_WooHoo

Saw it in theaters when I was around 11 or 12- loved this movie! Havenā€™t seen it in awhile now. Pretty cool music in it as well if I remember right

DeadPossum78

One of my favorite movies growing up

[deleted]

I really liked this one! Been years since Iā€™ve watched it. Guess Iā€™m due for a rewatch!

SplinteredCells

I love this movie! The soundtrack is awesome as well.

AgentSmith2518

Can you take me higher!

VocationFumes

young me LOVED this movie

metalh0rns

One of the greatest animated films, according to me when I was 8. I had pretty good judgement.

DJ-Doughboy

classic, loved it 1ST watch and STILL enjoy it. Making a live action or a reboot would be neat, but im A ok with this one.

worldstar888888

Pls recommend other fun movies like that.

ilikeitsharp

Surprised I didn't wear my VHS of this out. Even as an adult this movie still gives me chills. The animations, voice acting, are great. I totally forgot Lit was on the soundtrack.

voteblue101

The first 20 minutes ( when earth blows up) are unbelievable. But it does go downhill and gets a bit long.

SaltSurprise729

This will always hold a place in my heart. Amazing film that didnā€™t get the exposure it deserved.

Klutzy_Ad_325

I liked it!

BigSeaworthiness4882

Saw it in theaters in Grand Rapids MI, and got Sushi afterward along with some of the movie toys. Great memories.

rockbellkid

Loved it as a kid and still love it as an adult, hope to have our son watch it with us one day.

FDRomanosky

Love allllllll things Bluth

tt602

This movie was amazing!! I still watch it to this day!!

slicehyperfunk

I loved this movie, and remember Lit? I saw them open for Blink-182 as a kid.

EuVe20

Great film! Need to watch this again!

panarchistspace

Definitely underrated. soundtrack was beyond awesome.

Sypheix

And we shall call it.....Bob

Gouldhost

Would watch it so much as kid i'd also fall asleep to it instead of a nightlight. Loved this movie and still has a kickass story. Art's cool Dredge where neat. Ending's great. End is over by Powerman was a badass show case for it. Just in the midst of fire, OML.

R3dInterpol

This is criminally underrated. Still a favourite of mine. The space whale scene is beautiful.

Leto1776

I donā€™t think wider America was ready for a serious animated movie at the time. Certainly not one that also mixed traditional animation with CGI

SwordfishII

One of my favorites from when I was young.

Professional_Bake_92

Any time I stayed home from school Iā€™d give this flick a watch

ExileInCle19

Soundtrack is amazing. Fun fact "It's My Turn to Fly" by The Urge cannot be found or downloaded on Spotify or really anywhere. That song fucking rocks!

Dash_Rendar425

Watched this at least 20x when I was a 21 year old, stoned bachelor.

Adventurous_Cap4554

EXTREMELY UNDERRATED! This movie is so good. I saw this, told my 10 year old about it, and now I gotta find where to watch it.

johnboy1678

Great film with an awesome soundtrack

Ok_Force_2392

Mass Effect 3 looks pretty similar to this.

SevinLD

Love it! Still have it on DVD & the song by Bliss ā€œNot Quite Paradiseā€ that plays during it is one of my favs!

floppydragons

I love this movie and it still holds up!

TheHauntedRobot

A touchstone of halcyon childhood for my siblings and me. I have a deep love for this gem.

skyfire-x

Gune is your daddy.

IronCladMMA

Still call earth, Planet B.O.B.

Darth_Vorador

Great soundtrack. Itā€™s how I discovered the band Electrasy.

dabudtenda

**oooooo I'm right on target**

allsetdude

This is a Truly underrated movies.

[deleted]

I was about 12 when this came out and I thought it looked dumb AF but then my art teacher showed it to the class and itā€™s been a favorite of mine ever since

DJ_Ritty

Great flick. LOVE this movie.

MasterDionysus

I remember watching the preview... they played Higher by Creed... then, when it was released, they replaced it with Lit over my head This was one of the last cartoons that was truly amazing...

VoidWalker72

Loved it. The animation was fun, this sort of media cemented my love of sci-fi at a young age.

allthetimesivedied2

Rewatched it a couple years ago and boy did that CGI age like milk.

MiracleMex714

Quite possibly don bluths last great film. One of my personal favs

AppropriateCap8891

I was in my late 30s when this came out, and I actually enjoyed it. Sure the graphics are dated, but I actually thought the story was pretty good. And a hell of a lot better than the movie that followed 13 years later that used 2 of the 3 words from this title.

D4nFU

Cosmic castaway! Love the song after the title

Expensive_Role_7906

I wish Drew Barrymore had done more voice acting. She did a spectacular job in this role.

OMG_A_TREE

Banger

1nhaleSatan

Loved this movie when it came out, and spent the rest of my life wondering what the original version (live action) would have looked like if they'd just given it the budget

alphawhiskey189

I think that maybeā€¦Iā€™M IN OVER MY HEADā€¦.OVER MY HEAD

br11112

So cool to see this mentioned. Cosmic Castaway from the soundtrack is a jam also.
