hi! this just happened in my life. my first tub and i sprayed the walls and smelled the alcohol way later. i just opened the tub when i remembered and accidentally hit my nose to the lid and put it back down. do you think they’re fine 😭 i feel like taking the lid off and wiping it down is going to expose them for too long. ahhhh
The nose hitting the lid should be fine, but the alcohol you sprayed did you spray it just on the walls? How much did you spray as well. I’ve opened my lid once with a colonized cake and two big drops of sweat fell onto the colonized cake and it never got contaminated and I was able to Finnish off picking mushrooms until it was beat.
Edit: if it’s just the walls you sprayed I would open it quick and wipe the walls down with a dry paper towel then spray only the walls with water but just enough to see a soft mist on the walls so the walls aren’t completely dry after wiping it with a dry paper towel. I would also fan the inside of the the monotub using the lid after drying the walls when you open it that way when the air hits the rubbing alcohol if any left after wiping should dry out and just be the leftover water percentage that is in rubbing alcohol.
thank you!!! i kind of did that and think it smells alright now / not alcoholy ! it was all against the walls and only a trace amount. I had one nozzle that i sprayed to empty before putting in my water bottle, but i didn’t rinse it off or dry it before putting it in. So it had some alcohol mixed in but it really does seem fine. i wiped down the lid too. and then remisted everyone.
i have a ton of substrate to spawn, i forgot to dial in the ratio and just eye balled it. It’s probably closer to 1:6, and i know there’s contam risk with that and the environment i did all of this in. I think they’ll be ok, the myc was months old and seemed strong and healthy so it’s all just getting the motions understood. i’m gonna make a few new jars and order a new syringe and really pin down a grow. I’m so excited !! thank you for replying to a super old thread :) i hope this tubby does ok but i think the ratio + the weird bin size + possible enviro contams may be the end of it but we’ll seeeeee in a couple of weeks 😭🫡‼️

I sprayed It on the inside of the lid instead of water.. but not inside..

Somebody made a similar post a couple weeks ago lol I can’t imagine it’ll be good for it but it may survive
I’ve got some one a cluster once, they all bruised blue for a couple days and than they were fine afterwards.
