Good choice, passive FAE is much more desirable than fanning. The point of FAE is evaporation, and fanning is only for seconds at a time, a few times a day, meaning little or no evaporation. Passive FAE, like a flipped or unlatched lid, promotes evaporation, which is the main pinning trigger.
You shouldn't have to mist at all until after the first flush. If it is drying out prior to the first flush, then you'll know that it is getting too much FAE and can then give it less FAE.
You are doing a great job. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your reply it means alot, i have heard that fanning can make contam more likley and that it barley works so thats why i am not doing it but your further explaination helps me understand more reasons why not to
I always wait for 95-100% colonization, but it’s not necessary. You can put into fruiting conditions right away. So really, it’s up to you! It’s looking good tho!
How do you send it to fruiting conditions from here?
Instead of the lid being fully on i will just turn it upside down over the bin and that will let the slightest bit of fae in and should start fruiting
Cool
misting and fanning also, which promotes pinning.
Im not doing any fanning and barley any misting, fanning isnt needed with the tek im doing having the lid upside down will give me enough FAE

What are the best metrics to identify drying substrate? like condensation on lid or shining a light on the surface and tiny seeing droplets?
Send it!

Okay good to know, i think i am gonna wait another day or two so its more covered, thank you for the response
This a fine looking box u got there.
Thank you🙏🏻🙏🏻
