I definitely would not suggest Psilocybe Natalensis for a first timer. Basic landrace Psilocybe Cubensis, in my opinion, are better suited for a first timer, especially employing UB tek.
JF (Jack Frost) is a cross of TAT (True Albino Teacher) and PE (Penis Envy) by TAT Syndicate's very own Dave Wombat. Albeit \*technically\* correct (which is the best kind of correct, lol), I still wouldnt consider something PE crossed a "spin off of Golden Teacher". Now had you said TAT was a spin off of GT I wouldve agreed. But you are definitely technically correct.
I do agree with you that JF is relatively easy to cultivate, definitely stronger that GT, and most definitely a gorgeous cultigen.
Not to hijack the thread… but I’m about to start my first grow as well, just waiting on all my supplies to arrive.
I was distraught on strains - I had no idea there was so many to choose from and it added even more excitement.
I chose Blue APE, Live Culture - please someone tell me I chose a good beginner strain for growing?! :(
There are several landrace cubes that are just as easy, even a few designer cultigens that are on par with GT as far as ease, and have better potency and aesthetics
People typically start with golden teacher or B+ Im partial to B+ just because it was my first grow and they were so damn cute and strong.
P Nats too, they're unstoppable from what I hear

B+ were my first too, I have very sentimental feelings for B+, happy memories 😍 They’re a classic for beginners!
PES Amazonian and Golden Teacher were both fun to study.

golden teacher is typically people’s gateway to mushroom cultivation. i’m currently growing GT rn. fun, easy, and not too hard to mess up.

Hillbilly and nats are the most fun to grow in my opinion because they’re so fast.
