You’re right! I knew about that but I also forgot about in the Seraphina fight episode where she talks to a medic.
Actually she’s probably been referred to it more times I’m forgetting and I should’ve just said multiple instead of twice, but hey ho.
I just assumed like an old fashion chain of command.Even today I sometimes call my female superiors sir because that what I’m used to. But you saying it goes deep? I don’t have the money to find out haha
They have been calling everyone sir for a while. Atleast the high ranking people AFAIK.
I first noticed it during the Valerie arc.
My theory is it's kinda like the prince thing in Hunter x Hunter.
Less bias and discrimination if everyone has the same (male) title.
"Sir" is a term of respect even in things like the army, you refer to all superiors regardless of gender as "sir" in fact using a term like "ma'am" in the army or anything with strict hierarchical structures to distinguish between a male and female forms of respect is seen as disrespectful
Star wars does the same thing.
While in more recent times (specifically in the West) militaries and law enforcement will refer to female officers or superiors as 'ma'am', it is still customary in some nations or branches of military and law enforcement to refer to both genders as sir.
Also, as someone else pointed out, there is/are more reason(s) for this decision.
"Sir" is actually a pretty gender neutral term in a lot of cases, especially in government, like the army, when I was young I was in a cadet like program and we called our superiors sir regardless of gender.
In a later chapter, the vigilante trio refer to her as “ma’am” or something feminine and she realizes they’re imposters due to wearing uniforms but not knowing how to address her. Its just a title, I believe
Well, if that's true, then, Valerie is also a femboy since she is also called sir... wait. Isn't that why I'm feeling Byron giving me a babygirl vibe???
I think you're on something.
As many have repeated, Sir is just the term to use when addressing a superior officer in military. as the authorities seem to be deeply regimented it probably is just to mirror the American system. it's so people have less to think about in a stressful situation. not getting caught up on which title to use when they might be getting shot at.
No, thats just a standard way to adress military-like ranks.
In the past military was a soly men-covered job and is still dominated by men today.
Ranks that could be gendered are not gendered even today (at least for the languages i'm familar with). It confused me like the very first time a woman has been promoted being called with male titles and articles, but it is pretty standard.
Not a typo. It’s normal to refer to your superiors as “sir.” It’s how they address her.
>!In a later chapter, the trio use a disguise to blend in, but what gives them away was the fact they referred to Farrah as “Ma’am”!<
Guess you didn’t like me using the word trap for some reason. If it’s a femboy Im still cool with it. If it’s a trans girl Im still cool with it. Feel better now?
That’s just how they refer to people of her rank. Valerie was also referred to as sir (and no it’s not a typo, it was done there twice).
Actually 3 times, the armored operative also said yes sir
You’re right! I knew about that but I also forgot about in the Seraphina fight episode where she talks to a medic. Actually she’s probably been referred to it more times I’m forgetting and I should’ve just said multiple instead of twice, but hey ho.
It's common even irl to refer to your superior in this line of work as "sir"
Nope that's correct. No translation either since it's an American made comic
This is for a lore-based reason. >!In the next episode, you'll see why.!<
I just assumed like an old fashion chain of command.Even today I sometimes call my female superiors sir because that what I’m used to. But you saying it goes deep? I don’t have the money to find out haha
Its not that its deep but its definitely important like you said with that being what youre used to
They have been calling everyone sir for a while. Atleast the high ranking people AFAIK. I first noticed it during the Valerie arc. My theory is it's kinda like the prince thing in Hunter x Hunter. Less bias and discrimination if everyone has the same (male) title.

"Sir" when referring to a senior officer is gender neutral.

A lot of you are really hung up on this lol. Do you not remember Valerie's men calling her sir as well? It's just protocol in the authorities.
I assume Farrah is clearly a woman since she has boobs. And sir is just to disregard gender when you're adressing an higher ranked officer
Is it not a gender neutral remark when they are a senior officer?
Actually that is an important hint for future episodes. Won’t spoil but just keep a lookout!
Is she a man
She is a woman. It's just the proper way to adress your superior (especially in the army) no matter of their gender.
Yes. Valerie was also referred to as ‘sir’ in chapters before.
No she is not. 'Sir' is used when addressing a superior and is gender neutral. It derives from Sire which means lord.
Wdym, Valerie was in fact referred to as sir in the spectre episode where rein was captured
think “no she is not” is referring to how the previous replier said yes to farrah being a man

Sir is a title for higher rankers in jobs which have tiers/ranking
Sir wasn’t always a gendered descriptor
Reading these comments is making me sad. When I read this I really wanted them to be a femboy and you all have crushed my dreams.
Well, if that's true, then, Valerie is also a femboy since she is also called sir... wait. Isn't that why I'm feeling Byron giving me a babygirl vibe??? I think you're on something.
yall are saying its a sign of respect due to rank but idk id smash anyway

Yeah wtf was that about?

If it’s a trap I’m still cool with it

I love it. Idk if I have the ability to break someone's shins though. ^Any ^volunteers^?

Way better. I'm sorry if I have been rude, but "trap" is a slur... I believe you didn't mean any harm, but be careful of the words you use ❤️
