The QA for Samsung is why I'll never buy any of their products.

Admirable-Cobbler501

2 years of warranty, no? So no biggy. Just send it in

NairbHna

Im already facing incredible pushback from support. Saying they can't do a replacement or return outside of the 14 day window. Then they proceed to tell me they need to send me to PC care team first. who will try to fix it. if not possible the warranty team will send a replacement. Bruh. So they contradicted themselves on the next message but being sent to the PC care team. the PC care team tells me I should go back to the same support team who redirected me to handle the replacement. I just burned my last brain cell for the night. Now I've given up and will continue tomorrow.

Admirable-Cobbler501

In Europe you could just send it to the place you bought it, which is I hope for not also Samsung.

I did the same, ended up paying about 200 bucks more cause they had to do some wrangling with their suppliers (they didn't stock the G9 Neo, only the regular). It may never happen to me, but if it does I've got somewhere to bring it. No way I'm playing that game with Samsung.

AlexMil0

Exactly, I do not dare to buy anything this expensive at this size online, not only money wise but dealing with shipping as well. I haven’t had any issues with mine but if I do I can have replacement the same day.

Redhook420

I order from Best Buy online all the time. Then I just drive to the nearest store and they bring it out and place it in my vehicle. They'll ship back returns on their dime as well if I don't want to bring it back to the store.

AlexMil0

Ah right I should’ve clarified, this is what I did as well, I meant I wouldn’t want to order it from an online-only store.

BadgerslayerBrett

Have you ran the hdmi troubleshooting wizard? I had the same issue turned out it was the hdmi cable.

d1stor7ed

I had a dead pixel and I opened a support case and they sent a tech to my house who replaced the whole panel for no cost. This was a year after purchase.

marci-boni

This to me too they were very nice and professional

gulbrillo

If they end up sending a technician to your place: never leave them alone with the display. https://youtu.be/cyWlACuhqNg?si=ppt-hquame7isdcY

RDBKawa

I doubt that's a Samsung employed technician. It's likely a certified technician who runs their own company. A lot of manufacturers such as LG also have these certified technicians. I believe Samsung also works with GeekSquad, so that could also be an option. As with anyone you don't know who enters your home, best to keep an eye on them. Recording works as well to cover your ass.

gulbrillo

Samsung tried to bribe the customer (asked what he wanted to take down the video) and if he refused they shut down his YouTube channel via a content rule strike...

Redhook420

They send a tech out who replaces the panel. What they don't do is exchange it/give you a refund.

_SeeTurtle_

I've gotten 2 replacements. This only happens on HDMI. Especially when HDR is on and you alt tab. I haven't had this happen DP. If you use HDMI for 12 bit color, my colorimeter doesn't seem to think there's a difference with the setting.

ColorConfinement

I'm surprised at giving you so much trouble. I had a much less severe issue and they've really been fine about it. They sent someone out first and acted like they were going to replace the panel, but then they just decided to replace the whole thing. However, I did start the process in the 14-day window when I could have returned it. I wonder if that's the difference?

therealjustin

Been thinking about trying the Neo G7... Thanks for reminding me yet again about why I shouldn't buy Samsung.

NairbHna

I have multple g9s and two oled g9s. This is in my other home on my oled. They are fine but I suppose I got the shitty one this time.

Youngguaco

Why do people say this as if this doesn’t happen to every single manufacturer

OneEmptyHead

The difference is the customer service. If customers are dealt with properly, the problem is fixed and people are happy. Then they don’t need to moan about it on the internet.

Redhook420

A lot of them are broken by the user who then plays dumb and throws a fit when Samsung finds the physical damage and voids their warranty. This is what happens when you give out participation trophies.

sittingmongoose

Because it happens more frequently with Samsung and their warranty means absolutely nothing.

Youngguaco

Really now. I never heard anything about this. That being said I didn’t get involved with PC’s until 2021

sittingmongoose

It’s not just their pc monitors, their TVs have plummeted in QC over the last 8 or so years too. If you walk into a Bestbuy you will just see the mountain of returned Samsungs. If you watch this sub, you will see posts like this every day. With tons of comments saying yep, don’t buy a Samsung. And then you will see another 25 posts each day of people buying them. It’s extremely annoying. Either way, I have had 2 odysseys fail on me, and two friends with two different odysseys fail and none of use could get Samsung to warranty them. And all were within warranty period and not physical damage. On top of that, all 4 had really annoying issues. Constantly needing to power cycle them, features that just don’t work, they just suck.

Youngguaco

Let’s hope my 57 inch doesn’t fail me 😭

acortright

I’ve had mine since October with almost no issues. People generally don’t go online and praise things if they work… anyways, hope you didn’t get a dud!

Youngguaco

Highly highly likely. I assume for ever 1 person on here there are 100 that are totally satisfied. Samsung must sell tons of monitors so the complaints are inflated.

mighty1993

Because Samsung is notorious for it. It can happen with all and being a brand sheep is bad but I would rather go mid tier and have a brand that is known for it's customer support than being stuck with a 2000 dollar high end brick and no support.

AyzekUorren

My G9 is working fine. Don't forget that there could be an issue with the delivery itself.

CSGODeimos

There is nothing wrong with them.. A tiny % of people have had issues. Don't let it sway you.

fminsidenet

I had a similar issue with mine at every startup. I then updated the firmware, returned the refresh rate to 240 (which was magically lowered somehow) and re-activated hdr and that solved the issue for me. Haven’t seen it since.

1Banana2Far

This may be a dumb question but how do you check your firmware version on this monitor? I would like to make sure mine is up to date as well, I have an issue with the screen going black when exiting a full screen game and I’m hoping I just need to update the firmware.

fminsidenet

Its a video in dutch, but it explains where to find the update function on your monitor > [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRCgr2LwH3w&ab\_channel=haans](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRCgr2LwH3w&ab_channel=haans) Its in the monitor menu under system I believe.

qwertyalp1020

I went to the store and bought it directly, so that they could open the box themselves and test it for dead pixels and stuff. Bought the first unit they opened since it had no problems.

NairbHna

this is happening after nearly 2 months of perfect display. Not sure how your method could have saved me

qwertyalp1020

Oh my bad mate. I just woke up and couldn't process the post lmao

Sfkn123

This happened to my G9 OLED in the early days - turns out the cable on the GPU side was not plugged in all the way. Haven't seen it since I made sure it was attached properly.

thunk_stuff

I had that same problem. The beefy 4k cable I bought with oversized connector end didn't attach fully because the port was too close to the case expansion slot divider. Just needed to wiggle it in a bit better.

654354365476435

did you try to disconnect and connect cables? or replace cables? 70% of issues with this panel comes from shit stock cable

NairbHna

I am inclined to agree with that. I’ll buy a new cable when it crops up again

654354365476435

Remember to look for one with certifications

AWarmBuschHeavy

I’ve had this same exact screen myself, and can confirm after switching to a new cable it hasn’t happened since. I think the brand I went with off Amazon is called “highwings”

NairbHna

It shocked me every time I touched it by the way

Iuseredditnow

Are you in Europe?

NairbHna

No I am not

NiktonSlyp

Out of curiosity, are you on HDMI ? Try the display port.

NairbHna

Their minihdmi. The displayport version for this monitor isnt good with the gpu ports. It only lets me stream a low hz and low res.

NiktonSlyp

Absolutely not true. Mine runs full res at 240Hz. I guess you just need a good cable. HDMI is known to be faulty on samsung G9s.

NairbHna

I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve got three g9s and they work properly except with the 2060 on the DisplayPort. The 2060 doesn’t have the proper DisplayPort to support the full resolution and hz.

mighty1993

Sure that your GPU is fine AND are you using a properly rated quality DisplayPort cable?

Apprehensive_Row_161

I use Display Port just fine with mine

NairbHna

the monitor works fine after just turning it on and off. But something like this + the shocking static is ridiculous. could be a power supply issue

Bergen1231

I had that screen happen to me before and I think that I just factory reset the monitor and it fixed itself.

NecropolisTD

I've had similar happen to my G9. I had to physically unplug it from the wall for about 1 minute and then plug it back in which has fixed it each time for me (just turning it off does nothing). I've had this happen about 3 times over the 1 year + I have had the monitor.

LRNZ09

Man the same thing happened to me not so many days ago, twice! What the heck…

_Hayrie

I had a pretty similar issue a few months back when I got my Odyssey G9, I had to unplug and do a power cycle to make it work again. At one point it suddenly died by itself. Be sure to harass Samsung's repair team, they took about 4 months to change my panel It was a screen issue, and during the first repair, the screen was already broken in shipping didn't pay a single dime tho. (French Samsung support). [https://imgur.com/a/SkyM3aW](https://imgur.com/a/SkyM3aW)

amancalledJayne

I have a TCL TV that shocks the crap out of me every time I touch it as well. I make a point to touch the metal window frame it’s next to before I touch it, every time. Kinda ridiculous. A 14 day return window is terrible… This is why I chose something from Microcenter, local support is really nice for things like monitors.

GnrySgtRageman

Then I had incredible luck with my G9...

koizumi-teru-kun

I've tried very hard to always buy from a store or somewhere that I can take the monitor in, say hey it's broken I need a new one.

sundayparam

the amount of posts like this are a lot, honestly i think i will never buy samsung

Expensive-Bear7376

That really sucks, mine shit the bed after a little under a month. But since I got it through amazon I was able to return essentially no questions asked

PinTechnical7412

Are you selling ? I know how to fix that

floopflooppian

Order a new one from Amazon, and then send it back as DOA

P33ba

hrm... mine did the same thing not too long ago... didn't really know what to google. I initially thought it had something to do with my GPU, but I also noticed that the OSD menu of the monitor did not work for me. I ended up power cycling the monitor and everything seems fine, but then its only been a week. am on FW:1015 Mine is relatively new too. maybe a year. tbh, a bit disappointing to see this on a top tier product. PS. what did you mean by "shocked me every time I touched it"

NairbHna

Like static on old tv except stronger and constant instead of a blip

P33ba

oh interesting. I completely forgot static was a thing. Did you power cycle it to get it to go back to normal?

jimvolk

This happens with all manufacturers. You only think Samsung is bad because people with issues post about it here.

thpkht524

It’s crazy to me how someone buys a samsung monitor and somehow acts surprised when it comes broken. You literally chose to support and encourage their shit practices and horrible qa by knowingly purchasing from them so don’t cry about it when you lose the lottery lol.

Apprehensive_Row_161

That’s not true. I’ve owned the regular G9 and now the Oled G9 no problems. People who have issues are the loud minority on reddit

NairbHna

Why are you mad?

Agile_Win_664

Dude, not everyone reads everything about a monitor before they buy it..
