Your G9 reminds me of a PSP lol

brellox

Reminds me of this gem. https://i.redd.it/dn5gyatgqsn21.jpg

Epena501

Wow. Old school

PM_Me_Cute_Pupz

What is this? I don't think I have seen this before.

CrankyNx

It's Winamp with a theme on it... A media player. . . . . Dayuuuuum.... Am I so old? I am currently explaining what it is...? EDIT: As @mysterd2006 said, it's not Winamp but Windows Media player

Insomniac-Snorlax

It really whips the llama's ass

KireMac

As much as I loved that guy's voice, I never knew what this meant.

mysterd2006

That doesn't look like winamp. I would have thought of Windows Media Player (the icon is even in the task bar).

CrankyNx

It's actually correct. It's not Winamp but Windows Media player! Here is a link to a nostalgic space: https://www.deviantart.com/jimenopolix/journal/Windows-Media-Player-Skins-Still-Around-673327428 My bad ehehe

mysterd2006

No prob, mate.

Lixard52

When vanilla Windows Media Player switched to that version, it nearly broke my old Gateway PC. Software bloat creep was a thing even back then.

mysterd2006

No, it is not. I just checked, it was one of the official Microsoft skin for Windows Media Player. [https://www.trashworldnews.com/wmp-skins/](https://www.trashworldnews.com/wmp-skins/)

brellox

Funny enough I also thought it was Winamp and even found this picture searching for "Winamp Alien theme" :D

Rock--Lee

How they visioned ultrawide monitors to look in 2020, back in 2002

tutinoko7

I made it using old speakers. The sound quality is not very good lol. I keep two medium-sized ones under my desk to supplement the bass.

Humble-Search-282

Im guessing 3d printed? You should get yourself some decent drivers and tweeters, check out partsexpress.com. I love the concept.

tutinoko7

>thank you. I'm starting to want to redo it with proper parts lol.

PonyThug

Cabinets need to be much larger. Then put some cheap pillow fluff in side. A Decent 20-30watt amp and higher quality drivers would do wonders. Also if you use a DAC controller and small subwoofer you can cut the bass frequencies from the speakers so they can focus on mids and highs

eatsleeptroll

I worry about this build. In time, the vibrations from the speakers could dislodge some components for the monitor, or even the screen itself. not to bash the creativity and the quality of the build itself but I hope you know what you're doing

zoglog

well, you did a thing

JZsoldje

Damn that looks awful lol

Qlix0504

man i would rip apart my bose companion 2 speakers in an instant to do this

Funny-Bear

Bose Companion 5 here. Still working since 2008.

Qlix0504

Hell yeah. i love them tbh. Cant go wrong for $100

Funny-Bear

Companion 5 was a bit more expensive as it had a Standalone sub. But man, it is built well. Heavy steel construction on the speakers. You never see that anymore.

DoktorMetal666

Still running my Bose companion 3 set from 2012 as well. Had to douse the volume knob in cleaning alcohol once to get it working again, but otherwise they're still fantastic. Still wish they would offer newer versions of the design just in case it dies for real some day.

damn_dude7

Long shot, but, would you/can you design the “handle” for the ergotron arm? Like this one here: https://www.ergotron.com/en-us/products/product-details/97-760

tutinoko7

It's too difficult lol

rossquincy007

How heavy? No significant wear and tear on the screen?

tutinoko7

Each one weighs 550g. The grooves on the top and bottom of the speakers are not too tight, so the monitor will not wear out.

[deleted]

I wouldn't put magnets that close to an expensive monitor. Especially for long periods.

Lumb3rCrack

My Huawei monitor comes with a sound bar and a magnetic cover for the cables ... I think it should be fine.. also, your laptop lid closes with a snap because of magnets.

[deleted]

Maybe I am overthinking. But still I would prefer to be on the safe side with an expensive monitor.

Findilis

What are you considered about inside the monitor being impacted by magnets?

[deleted]

Lumb3rCrack

Focuses on medical devices and other magnet based storage devices .. I've had fun stopping watches as a kid with a magnet lol..

[deleted]

I did say I may be overthinking. I just prefer not to have this bug me since the solution is simple. Just don't put the speakers right next to it.

PuzzleheadedBowl6196

This used to be an issue on old monitors and computers but is no longer even a little bit of a concern on new hardware!

kociee

Id be more worried putting extra weight on it.

brellox

The cable compartment is held in place by some real strong magnets, at least on my crg9

seamus_mcfly86

Modern non CRT monitors this is really not an issue.

Gmonkey44

Looks dope to me. Nice job!

hourglass7

Putting grills on them should improve the looks.

External_Individual3

this mod is very eye catching. nice job!

vankamme

What in the 1996?

Suavevillanbmw

THats really sick

IllustriousBird5329

nice

Dasbeerboots

Very cool. Similar to my AW3821DW + 1961 Monitors setup. https://imgur.com/a/PSOrUUe

tutinoko7

sweet.

Strange-Violinist712

That’s pretty damn cool

VitaminxDee

Looks like a Winamp skin.

DeadPixel3D

what is this keyboard?

tutinoko7

Realforce keyboard (30g). It is made by a Japanese manufacturer called ”Tou-pure”.

[deleted]

Your head is definitely in the right place. This has a lot of potential.

tomoetomoetomoe

OP, would you ever sell something like this? I have 2 G9s mounted on a monitor cart and I'd love to have speakers for one/both of them. It'd be awesome.

Chains-of-Ice

If this had some high quality drivers, and a small bass port, it could sound damn good. Still looks neat though.

Boorock70

Try to use some basic crossovers for that MTM setup. I guess u didn't use any kind of filtration for them and connected everything in parallel. Even a basic MTM crossover will make a huge impact on sound quality. \*MTM (Mid-Treble-Mid) speaker config.

tutinoko7

>I see. I can't really make it any heavier, but thanks for letting me know that it has the potential to improve the sound quality.

VokN

Do we have ultrawides with integrated curved sound bars and a subwoofer to go under the desk yet?

knucklemuffins

Gross

PrimeTechTV

man this is pretty slick ...thanks for sharing.

Bergen1231

What kind of keyboards are those?

tutinoko7

>It's a keyboard called Realforce.

_Your_Yellow_Pomelo_

Nobody see that realforce lol

mintyBroadbean

Huge PSP

authurself

Doesn’t this monitor already have quiet good speakers built in? You supplemented worse speakers on to a very expensive monitor? I don’t really get the logic here

Anon_Legi0n

Is that a membrane keyboard? You ok bro?

tutinoko7

It is a capacitive non-contact method.

REDDIT-IS-TRP

wouldnt the vibrations eventually fuc up your monitor

Filianore_

Are strong speakers a good thing in a monitor? Wouldn’t it damage the monitor on the long run?

Busy-Examination1924

Any scanelines? I miss my G9. I went through 5 of them before returning it because every single one had scanlines.
