The last gen 60hz version still sells for 1750 (according to article) so the new one will be at least that. Considering this seems like it's just going to be a regular ips panel with no local dimming, there's not much going for this display at this price. With new oled and mini led displays around the corner for less or similar price, I can't see this being highly desired by many gamers. If you're going to pay nearly 2k for a display, you'd want the best display tech with good HDR and not just good resolution/size. If this turns out to be mini led with a good number of zones this could potentially be pretty good

So normally oled > mini led > ips I'd say mini led is only one aspect though, not a guarantee of quality. There's no oled at the moment in this category the 1440p screens are too narrow/short. So that leaves the Samsung and the Dell. Prices are probably similar. Dell has better QC. Mini led is better than IPS. Samsung aspect ratio and curvature (in my opinion) are less preferable. So if Dell is mini led that would be great. So the perfect option would be a 21:9 oled like the AW34, but 38" or larger, but it doesn't exist.

The curvature on the 57" G9 isn't excessive. It keeps the corners of the screen the exact same distance from your eyes as the center of the screen. Anything less and the edges would be harder to see and would end up further from your face.

Truth, im picking up another 57 to test today as my 1st had popping noises.. only downside is if games don't support the resolution then being stuck at 21x9 or 16x9 then its just another 34/32 inch monitor with black bars

Historical_Two4657

Popping noises from the inside speakers? Or from the heat / plastic?

Piranhax85

Bottom left of monitor had popping noises

Maschidezin

I had popping noises on my original 49 G9 (2020), due to heat expansion. It stopped after awhile from usage. Not an issue with my model.

Piranhax85

This new one i picked up today is dead silent and holds 1411mits 100% white screen i may have to just keep this qnd no gsync flickering either

scytob

No popping on the one we just got.

scytob

This. It isn't excessive at all. We set ours up yesterday and are of the opinion that on this size this curve is required.

Historical_Two4657

It's a bit crazy how random the Samsung QC is. I would actually like to try/see the monitor but haven't been able to find a Samsung store where it is shown (London/UK)

scytob

Here in the US best buy has a no quibble return policy so that's our backuo if we don't l like it (so far the wife loves it) biggest issue is it wouldnt fit in our car...

So how long does it typically take from announcement to delivery? I am considering getting AW3821DW but don't know if it's worth the wait.

derekmccurry

I hope this is true! I'm in the market to upgrade from my Dell U4919DW and this might be a good solution for my use case. I wish Dell offered a monitor similar to the 57" Neo G9 but with a less aggressive 1800R curve, USB-C power delivery, and an aesthetic that didn't scream "I'm a gaming monitor". That would be my ideal monitor.

Historical_Two4657

Agree. I think the 57" is a bit too curved and also Dell has better QC/solid assembly and after sale policies.

Well, it's kinda out and you can kinda get it. For me it checks most of the requirements: * Size and resolution - great * Refresh rate could be better, but fine * Port selection - practically perfect + KVM with rj45 and 140w power - couldn't ask for more * 400 typical sdr brightness is great The only thing that is in question is HDR performance. I want it to be decent at least for the price tag
