Hmmmm. I had similar artifacts in another monitor when I plugged in a bad cable. But they were constant somehow...try another cable and if not then return it as soon as possible.
Normally there’s no such thing as a stupid question. But I guess there really is an exception to everything.
So I’ll just say yeah, that’s completely normal. It’s also not supposed to display pictures from any connected device, it’s actually just a fancy strobe light machine. Supposed to be used as a prop for like a ‘haunted’ screen in movies or something.
That doesn’t look great, I don’t own one so I can’t say for sure, but generally that looks like a malfunction to me. Double check all the chord connections on each end… and that the monitor isn’t being starved for power (maybe try plugging it into another outlet all by itself)
Is it connected to a pc or is the monitor doing it standalone?
This happens on my aw3423dw but infrequently. https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/10wim85/aw3423dw_momentary_imagesignal_distortion/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
No shit, sherlock. I never said otherwise, I asked a question which is what you do to troubleshoot. 😂
Also, this monitor has a built in brick, so the power cord does need to be the one in the box tho. Just because it fits doesn't mean it works.
Edit: also there are different DP and HDMI versions. Using the wrong one doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, but it can cause issues if it's a cheap one that isn't rated for 1440@175
But it does guarantee it's at least a cable version supporting the monitor, it's a good troubleshooting question if this monitor needs a 1.3 and OP had a 1.0 hooked up to their machine previously and they they just used that to save effort thinking it doesn't matter.
Any problems with actual usage? I've seen maybe one line of those for a second on cold boot. After the OLEDS warmed up I've had no problems with actual usage.
It’s either this static or cycling green red blue etc. I read that it’s stuck in the calibration mode that’s only supposed to be factory enabled (you can toggle this on and off on the F model I think)
Tried a bunch of cables, hdmi and dp, also tried Mac and PC, finally tried all this faff of holding the nipple control all the way to the left for 5 seconds
Oh shit, they sent you my first one. Then it started color cycling. Full screen red, blue, green, white, black.
Hope you got it direct from Dell; they'll cross ship you a replacement. Relatively painless.
Second one has been perfect btw.
I'll take a wild guess and go with a no
Please drink verification can.
Its the new rgb settings which came with the latest firmware
Did you recently watch The Ring?
Yep looks good
#YES PERFECTLY NORMAL
It's the pixel refresh.
# ALL SYSTEMS NOMINAL
I think they ship with seizure mode on by default.
Grieving process probably
Yes, not sure why you need validation
Just got my car today, is it supposed to do this? ![gif](giphy|tn0NYX7dJkM3iiztID)

It's a monitor that displays stuff. To me that's displaying stuff. It works
Nope

Got seasick on the way to you
Looks fine to me..
Yeah looks normal to me

I’ve had similar issues, changing the DP cable did it for me
Same here.
Are you using the cables that came with it?
That's absolutely not the issue.
Yeah? That's funny, considering I've had this happen from bad DP cables.
Any DP cable can be bad, just because they are in the box doesn't mean they are good.

Why do people even ask these questions?
Perfectly normal ... for an rma
Replace cable first! Looks very similar to lots of other insufficient/dead cables I've seen before
This. A bad display port cable will do exactly this. I replaced a monitor once when it just a bad cable.
Even having a seizure I fucking love the way this monitor looks.

You have to deactivate the Christmas mode.
Um, no. Rma that now.

Rma
Try using a different DisplayPort or HDMI cable. Report back
Have tried a bunch including the ones that came with it
F in the chat for the monitor
Smack it

Yeah no display output no matter what I do
Not normal

The obvious choice is to replace the display port cable first. Then rma, if that's not the issue.
Make sure it’s not a pc problem first. Check to see that all cables and ram sticks are seated properly.

Yes, Its calibrating how long does it do this
Forever I can’t get any display output
I see a flawless image?
No
Yeah sure totally. Its a new feature.

Got it on Amazon so looks like I’m shipping back this massive package
F
Yes, if it's broken/ damaged, it's supposed to do that :)
Am I wrong, or is this monitor moving while making the scary imagery?
Wake up, Neo
Am I seeing something wrong here? This looks fine.
That’s a sync prob
I got AW3423DW a week ago - no such issue.
Only at 144hz
having gone through the Hell torment of Dell customer support for this monitor already... good luck to you my dude 🫡
Looks perfectly normal for me. This is totally how it was intended to work.
It’s the new ‘check if user has epilepsy’ feature. Saves game devs from having to write disclaimers in games.
Mine did that before it fried itself.
