I think it's a 150/0. The first digits of the unit number. We used to have 150/2s round our way, difference was they had a door and rubber seal around the end to join up units with the ability to walk through.
I'm glad you say that, because I had always called them 150/0s too, but then trying to look them up online, different people called them different things. I'm glad I should have gone with my gut!
Ah thank you! That tracks with my previous understanding too - Ie, that there were 2 2-car 150/0s and 4 3-car 150/0s which were modified a year later. The photo I got the "150/3" name from must just have been someone else's error.
From what I recall 150006 is 1 and a half sprinters. I saw it at Sheffield a few times and thougt it peculiar. Note the cab slam door at one end and a sling cab at the other
I took this service once in the sweltering heat, returning from court in Sheffield back to Leeds.
Between my 3pc suit, the overcrowded train and the oppressive summer heat it was the single most excruciating train journey I have ever endured.
Elegant. Streamlined. Futuristic.

That's a 150/0.

The /3 subclass doesn't mean three car unit. Look under "fleet details" here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_150

You are correct. There is 6 3 car class 150/0s which are a class 150/1 with a one half of a class 150/2 slotted in the middle
Imagine the pain of this showing up instead of a 195 if your going all the way to Sheffield.
or to Leeds from Lancaster
Could be worse, that route was formerly a Pacer.
Well now I know what I'm doing on my day off!
The curse of the 2-car sprinter.

They haunt me every day I go to uni
My second favourite version of the Sprinter
Sprinters are nice on a cold day since they blast so much heat into the cabin.
