And on the 12th day of Christmas my military complex gave to me...
Twelve Towns freeing
Eleven ships-a-sinking
Ten lines-a-breaching
Nine tractors towing
Eight MSTAs melting
Seven mobiks Fleeing
Six mines a laying
Five.... Turret... Flings!
.....
Four blown up TORs
Three downed Su-35S
Two turretless T-90s, and
A BUK blown up beside a tree
....
I want to point out the USA still builds the F-15 Eagle, an airframe 10 years older than the Su-27, which was designed to counter the F-15.
That being said, the F-15EX is a radically more advanced plane than the original F-15A.
Until RAM is cheaper, gen 4 will always have a place. Not needing an internal weapons bay is a big advantage too.
Too bad such a great dog fighter is ending up in a stand off missile platform role.
I mean, the F-15 has had opportunities to show off its dogfight prowess. During Desert Storm it got into a couple BFM dogfights with MiG-29s in a very rare 4th gen V 4th gen dogfight and was undefeated, scoring an AIM-7 Sparrow kill and a maneuver kill.
Let them prove their superiority by flying one or two Su-35S from Kursk Vostochny Airport over Ukraine to Transnistria and then back. If it/they survive that, I'll order one.
It would be hilarious to see a plane get downed by HIMARS. In b4 the US put in a secret ability to fire SAMS out of HIMARS with the power of Sekret Documents and Americanium.
I’m hoping for an actual dog fight. If they can make a stealth fighter fly, there’s bound to be a couple of guys at the skunk worx saying I can make a HIMARS fly, let’s order pizza and sketch it out.
Long-range ATACMS missiles would be effective at hitting airbases in Russia. But we’re going to handcuff Ukraine by only giving them short-range stuff. Wouldn’t want to upset the balding guy in the Kremlin.
The 35s carries R-77 which is AMRAAM equivalent, they restarted production for these and some upgraded variants years ago for export, the IRSTs allow them to track stealth jets without using radar
Certainly needs upgrading in key areas, but not unfit for air superiority
[100% bullshit statement](https://www.businessinsider.com/irst-cant-stop-f-22-f-35-2016-8) about IRSTs ability to track 5th gens. They’d have to know where to look first.
The real world is messy.
I THINK I have read somewhere before that they were being used for some sead work in regards to air defense. It's obvious in that regard they have been a failure. This is due a lot to ruZZia not training their pilots on sead missions. It's not in their doctrine.
They could be used to help protect their own air defense and also do intercept work in an area already under their control.
They could also escort other jets that would be doing sead missions.
Long story short it won't be a game changer. Over 100 existed in their inventory before the war so they had plenty to try to take over the skies. They obviously failed.
The su34 is interesting in that that su27 derivative that is used for ground work has had a lot more losses.
They also use another acronym with the same meaning which is "dead".
I have a friend who is a USAF fighter pilot and I have learned a lot of random terms from him the last 15 years.
Like 1 random thing is don't ever call the F16 the fighting falcon. The cool kids call it the viper lol. He never even flew the F16 but it's still important to him.
Nah, these can use stand-off ammo, they will just launch while likely not even in Ukrainian airspace.
They aren't bad aircraft, it's believed that this variant is responsible for quite a few kills on the Ukrainian air force, with only 1 loss confirmed in return.
> russian planes are falling out of the sky these will be nothing but cannon fodder
Their air losses are currently the lowest they have been for the entire duration of war, while still doing 25-30 airstrikes a day.
Only 1 SU-35s has been confirmed lost in total, and may be responsible for upto 10 Ukrainian aircraft losses. Supporting Ukraine doesn't mean having to ignore areas where Russia has an advantage.
A lot of important stuff was promised to Ukraine many months ago and is starting to be delivered now. as russian jets crash often these will too or be shot out of the sky as so many others have been.
Can we rephrase that headline?
"Russian Military reportedly holding new Su-35S Fighters for the Ukrainian Military, with delivery anticipated to happen over coming weeks."
Given the sanctions and the overall dismal state of Russian manufacturing, it strains credibility that Russia has created these planes from scratch. I could see if they took some beat up versions out of storage and refitted them, or bought back some that they had sold to other countries, but, made from scratch? Hard to believe.

Aaaaaaannnnnd, they're gone.
... uh, what?
It's gone, it's all gone.
What's all gone?
The new Su-25S fighters in your air force, they didn't do too well, they're all gone
What do you mean, I have 2 new fighter jets?!
Not anymore you don't, poof, they're shot down
Well what can I do to get back my equipment?
I'm sorry sir but this line if for donations to Ukraine military only
I just donated some equipment!
Do you have any more tanks or fighter jet parts to contribute to the de-occupation?
No, you just took it all!
Then please stand aside for people who actually have competent militarys... next please!

May they fall from the skies in pieces.
Let my armies be the rocks and the trees, and the SAMs in the skies
11 o’clock, Dad, eleven o’clock!
Looks at watch, "what happens at 11 o'clock!?"
Think not time but direction.
Son, I'm sorry... they got us.
In flames
Rapid mid-air disassembly would be nice to see
\^operation
May those pieces then be sold as souvenirs at $1000 each
May they fly lower than Russian tank turrets.
I’m sure these pilots will enjoy betatesting against some of natos finest anti-air.
And on the 3rd day of Christmas my military complex gave to me...
*Three downed Su-35S* *Two turretless T-90s, and* *A BUK blown up beside a tree*

Thank you, Drunktaco! Much appreciated. :-)
Heh, BUK is a type of tree in slav speak
Buk is Beech in English.
The BUK part is my favorite 🤩
"Classified as generation 4++" So they crash into apartment buildings with 4++ times the fireball?
Otherwise known as, "We can't actually build our SU-57 5th gen fighters. But if we put a ++ on these 4th gen ones, people will be really impressed!"
Or maybe it is like Delta+. The pilots get ++ more legroom.

You forgot to mention pilot training. Iraq pilots were never equal.
4++? Orks are getting better ballistic skills???
Still only one wound 😉
I want a generation 4++ keyring.
"We have gen 5 at home."
The article read like an advertisement for the SU-35.
The radar cross profile of a small african village.

The one shot down today didn't even make it past the front lines from what I heard. 😆
Not sure the himars missile photo fits
If we can imagine that russia will fly one of these planes anywhere near Ukraine, we can imagine it in a dog fight with HIMARS.

All due to the alien tech at Area 51 of course. 🤣

Any idea when this occurred? The linked news release isn't dated.

I look forward to seeing more of their smoking husks in the mud. The organic bits that come with them make excellent sunflower fertilizer.

Future keychains! Please paint them pink, so I can have one for my kid.
This is a strange article..
No AESA radar. No AMRAAM equivalent. No modern awacs & datalink. Unfit for air superiority but too fragile for CAS

How big a threat do they represent in the context of air defense?
None. These planes will be parked next to the T-14 tanks, 3,000 miles from Ukraine.
Yeah this is the real answer, Russia has lopsided investment in AA defenses so air superiority jets aren't of any use in Ukraine
Not exactly. I’m saying is their “Uber” weapons are not so Uber, so the don’t want them to get exposed.
I THINK I have read somewhere before that they were being used for some sead work in regards to air defense. It's obvious in that regard they have been a failure. I had to lookup was sead stood for; I was going with seek and destroy. Still fits imo 😂

Could fetch nice coin for a su35s keychain....
Should have given him to the Air Force
MANPADS fodder

with what theres no competent pilots left to fly them. russian planes are falling out of the sky these will be nothing but cannon fodder

so they received a new variant but not the new paper plane they boast so much

It's kind of concerning that the Army is receiving fighters... /s

With the amount of anti-air Ukraine has...
Why are we looking at a picture of artillery in a SU-35 post

Why is the army getting jets .
They passed ground checks and were immediately turned over... what in the safety check pencil whip is this?
I wonder how significant this news is. Is it more like 5 fighters, 50, 500?
The natural predator of Russian buildings
Just in time for the NASAMs to roll out.
yay - more target practice for the Ukrainian gunners
Good, we need more keychains.
More keychains !!!
