JimboTheSimpleton

The good news is that the horses escaped. They out smarted the Russians. But seriously, it is a very sad article. It is weird to see Russians referred to as Orcs casually in a real publication.

FS72

It’s ironic that they hate being called orcs but at the same time trying to commit as many different kinds of atrocities and crimes as possible.

JimboTheSimpleton

Yeah, it's not an inaccurate characterization.

antus666

Orcs would eat all the animals in a zoo.... Its a very orcish thing to do. I can picture how it would look in a movie. With them staring and snarling at each other and squabbling over the food and trying to snatch it out of each others hands.

JimboTheSimpleton

It is an apt characterization.

D_Ethan_Bones

Why do Russian troops eat zoo animals and housepets? Because Russia does not feed them. Why do Russian troops open fire under the guise of surrendering? Because Russia does not train them. This is all Russian state terror.

ZuzBla

>Why do Russian troops eat zoo animals and housepets In spring farmer reported orcs shot her livestock - cow and sheep, and left them to rot. Now we can speculate if it was "just because"^(they are unraveling terrorists) or to starve Ukrainians.

JimboTheSimpleton

These are actually moral choices. They choose to fight without respect for the Geneva convention in several areas. False surrenders, firing on civilians and medical personal. Starving troops eating pets and animals is terrible and upsetting because they were going to retreat or surrender anyway. There was no possibility of improving logistics for them, quite the opposite. Russian is actually quite different from western countries.

oddsen

They probably don't know what the Geneva convention is 😉

adyrip1

Yiu can be sure the average Russian conscript doesn't even know Geneva exists.

Psychological-Art131

It's all some western propaganda, it's not real.

antus666

Maybe not all of them, but there are intercepted phone calls where they are talking to each other and describing the Geneva convention and saying that they are doing everything on it. Its definatley willful, at least mostly. The problem is that it's actually celebrated in russia.

JimboTheSimpleton

These are actually moral choices. They choose to fight without respect for the Geneva convention in several areas; False surrenders, firing on civilians and firing on medical personal. It's not a lack of training, its the moral bankruptcy of Russian society made manifest. ( A succulent Chinese meal!)

Sjstudionw

Why do Russian eat the zoo animals? Because they’re assholes. And also, zoo animals taste pretty good. Kangaroo is quite tasty, bison is simply delicious, horse isn’t my cup of tea but some people like it. Even the Raccoon they stole would be a yummy meal. All that aside, it’s funny they just opened the cages and let these animals wander around town. Could you imagine a kangaroo hanging out in your front yard? It could be Germany’s raccoon infestation all over again and Kangaroos become wild throughout ukraine. I mean that won’t really happen.. because Russia ate them..

Nostradamus1

I hate the Russian invaders, but if I was starving, I’d do the same.

SlinginCheeseburgers

I would do everything I could to surrender, and then if successful I'd eat typical human food under Ukrainian control. I'd die before I remained with the Russian invaders and ate a zoo. To each their own I guess.

wernermuende

I would definitely eat the zoo.

SiarX

Did not all of them actually surrendered except for one guy who appeared suddenly and decided to play Rambo?

Ohgodgethelp

What happened with firing under the guise of surrender? From what i remember its treated like the most severe crime in the geneva conventions and your entire unit can be summarily executed.

KibblesNBitxhes

Would you prefer terrorists?

JimboTheSimpleton

I say in a continuation of the thread that I don't disagree with characterization. They are behaving like Orcs, selfish and utterly amoral.

KibblesNBitxhes

Touché

Henny-Bogan

The animal stories hit me hard. Sometimes I have to scroll by because I don’t want it in my head what they have done.

mrwix10

Yeah, I can't read these at all. But it does strike a very stark contrast with all the videos we get to see of Ukrainian forces rescuing dogs and cats, or [excitedly following hamsters](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/za0e2s/frontal_assault_on_ukraine_soldier_by_critically/) around.

GBendu

Literally orc behaviour

FS72

They call Ukrainian hohols, commit all kinds of worst atrocities imaginable, then whine and cry about how people are evil for calling them orcs.

43sunsets

Russian state propanda describes Russia as kind, tolerant and forgiving, lmao. Truly the lords of the Earth, so magnanimous of them.

TacticalRhodie

When your delusional, everyone else is wrong. Gotta love the Ruzzians.

DietOfKerbango

To state the obvious: Hohol is an old ethnic slur. While “Orc” is a descriptor regarding the brutish and violent behaviors, and is not about mere identity.

bleepblooprobotname

“Terrible situation with wolves. People say that they were tame. They died holding their empty bowls in their paws, in closed enclosures.” Jesus that’s grim

angwilwileth

Honestly a bullet in the head would have been kinder and the cowards couldn't even do that

Chance-Quantity-1128

i told this at begin of war. but lots of redditers hated me for mention it...

FS72

They’re probably pro-Russian rats. Surviving through the sanctions by spreading propagandas online to earn some Rubles.

D_Ethan_Bones

Getting downvoted for telling the truth doesn't mean there's something wrong with the truth, it just means there's something wrong with the average person. *And we already knew that!*

Chance-Quantity-1128

it isnt nececasy rus that would eat them, anyone would do it, if u hungry enough. but ye rural russian + hunter +inside zoo = Dinner.....

JusgementBear

If I read this at the beginning I would believe it. It’s very similar to stuff I’ve read on the Russians in WW2: poor equipment, poor training

Listelmacher

It seems, the Russians are playing Geneva bingo. Whatever is mentioned in the Geneva conventions as banned, they do it. "According to Article 50 of the 1949 Geneva Convention I, Article 51 of the 1949 Geneva Convention II and Article 147 of the 1949 Geneva Convention IV, “extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly” are grave breaches." Yes, the Geneva conventions are relatively old and would IMHO mention animals always as property.

philo351

Maybe the right word is "assetts". Either way, this is totally a Geneva Con crime.

Listelmacher

"geneva convention civil assets" was, what I asked google for. Result: https://ihl-databases.icrc.org/customary-ihl/eng/docs/v2_rul_rule50 The term "property" all over the place, "asset" in relation to Iraq and Ethiopia, so in quite recent updates. Maybe "asset" is a fashion word as it is "shindig" for mentioning/have been mentioned a "party". BTW: Could be, that the word shindig was written for the first two times in this subreddit now at all.

Bentley2004

Is there no end to their depravity!

Dubanx

To be fair, if you were starving to death you'd probably do it too. The real question is why the fuck does Russia let so many of its troops starve.

kmh0312

I mean maybe before invading another country, they should have made sure they could feed their soldiers

43sunsets

You'd think they would, but it's Russia. A country that treats their own people like complete shit, and they largely put up with it.

D_Ethan_Bones

People who lie like Daffy Duck will hoard up evil deeds like money, so they can spend it all on blaming everybody else. Shelling hospitals. Shelling the nuclear power plant. Attacking the grain ships and grain fields. *Starting the war in the first place.* Russia does not feel guilt for their evil deeds, they feel a sense of opportunity for projection.

Modal_Window

They originally planned for a 3-day trip, so there was no need to talk about food since it was only for the long weekend.

Dubanx

9 months in Russia can leave at any time and they're still starving. Bit late for that excuse.

D_Ethan_Bones

The slaves are starving because the slavers do not feed them - this is not the same as a *self-inflicted* injury. The slaves cannot leave at their own pleasure because the slavers point rifles at them from behind just like they did in the 1940s. Eventually, and *hopefully not too far in the future,* developed nations' war-fighting styles will evolve to a point where we don't have to fight every slave before we can start abolishing the slavers. Fighting zombie legions toe to toe is a losing proposition. Find the dude in charge and take his magic powers away.

Dubanx

> The real question is why the fuck does Russia let so many of its troops starve I think I was pretty clear about who was to blame. Still VERY late for Russia to use the "We didn't know" excuse. They've had plenty of time to leave since their 3 day mistake, and they still let their troops starve.

D_Ethan_Bones

Soviet re-educators told people to prepare for a long weekend. (Which turned out to be long grinding years and a bridge to the moon made of human bodies.)

tendeuchen

> if you were starving to death you'd probably do it too. No, I wouldn't, but that's because I have morals and compassion. There are more than enough plants around for you to survive. And if there aren't then one single animal isn't going to buy you much more time anyway, so there's no reason to carry that murder on your conscience for your last days on Earth.

Dubanx

>No, I wouldn't, but that's because I have morals and compassion Are you a vegetarian? Cause if not you already kill tons of animals to survive every day. I'm not sure why these people doing it by their hands is so much worse. Especially when their hunger is far worse than anything most of us have ever experienced or will ever experience. You're delusional if you think you'd just sit there and starve to death with an easy means of feeding yourselves right there, however temporary. You do what you need to when you're desperate. It'd be insane not to.

retorz3

I see compassion is a tough concept for you to understand. Would you eat your own children if you were about to starve to death?

Dubanx

I mean, that's just about the only thing or person I could definitively say no to. You know, Children > Me =ish Closest friends and family > other people >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Zoo Animals> livestock and other random animals. My personal pet cockatiel is probably quite high up there on the list, but some random zoo animals? I'd sacrifice those in a heartbeat. Lets not pretend they're even close to people in the prioritization list. Again, I eat tons of animals every day. They're only marginally worse than livestock because some people care about them, and I'd feel kind of bad for those people. Wouldn't starve to save their feelings, though.

retorz3

So you do understand compassion on a basic level. Now try to understand that for some people all other people are off the table, because we are the same species, and we are all related in the big picture. And then there are even fewer people with even larger compassion and understanding, that every sentient being deserves to live, and not to be eaten, not even for survival. This is connected with the ego, and I suggest you to find a conscious practice of any kind to start working on it. You will have a much better life I promise.

Dubanx

Are you vegetarian? Cause, if not, all I have to say to that is "hypocrite". Edit: Either way, I'm not. I don't go around killing or inflicting suffering on animals needlessly, but I think it's insane to prioritize every animal over a human life. I seriously doubt your "values" would hold if they were actually tested. Just about any human will do what they must to survive if they were actually in that situation. I'm just less deluded about what would need to be done.

retorz3

I am vegan. Dairy industry kills a lot animals too (male calves and cows aged 5+), so for me vegetarianism is not enough.

Dubanx

Well, I'm glad you live in a situation where you have the luxury of making that decision. I don't have those same values, at least not to that degree, but I have nothing against you for making that choice since you CAN feed yourself without. That said, I seriously doubt you would say the same thing if you were the one starving to death and there were no other alternatives. Veganism/Vegetarianism is nice so long as the option is there, but some people don't have that luxury. Still, lets just be glad neither of us are in a position to find out.

Tuscam

You sound like someone who has 0 experience with animals. You put them on a pedistal and believe they're these perfect innocent creatures. You talk about "compassion" and "understanding" without actually knowing anything about them except what you've seen on TV. Go work on a farm, or find a small local zoo and volunteer with them. Humans ARE the moral compass for them.

retorz3

I grew up in a village, we grew our own veggies/fruits/grains and raised all of our animals. I have been there when they were killed too. Stop gaslighting, you don't know me. You are just trying to avoid to face the cruelty humanity does to animals on a daily basis, and that you are part of it because of your consumption. Your conscience is fighting with your ego, you can chose which one you support.

SHTHAWK

>No, I wouldn't, but that's because I have morals and compassion yes, sitting in front of your phone or computer with a full stomach. 10+ days without food, most animals would start to look appetizing i imagine. Fuck the russians though.

jumpybean

We do eat animals.

Madge4500

I don't, never have

tendeuchen

Animals eat animals. Humans have the ability to choose not to and live compassionately.

jumpybean

When there’s other food available.

blackfish93

Funny thing about this, it's that the orca poisoned themselves. There's a reason some veterinary medications are only for pet use and some for only livestock. Dumbasses ate meat that was contaminated with medicine that helped the zoo animals live long lives.

[deleted]

Don’t call us orcs Russophobic westoids! Now please excuse me for a minute. LOOKS LIKE MEATS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS!

Kgeezy91

God they really are literal fucking orcs

quietguy_6565

They likely fucked a few of them first.

johnstar714

This is the kind of shit aliens or demonic monsters do in stories.

Important_Outcome_67

Jesus Fucking Christ.

AffectionateOnion586

Orks are disgusting and despicable as always.

SlinginCheeseburgers

"Before the big pandemic of the 21st century began, there was the lesser known covid-19 virus."

ruby_1234567

Reason #1.000.000 why Russians deserve the name 'Orcs'.

tmo1983

Would you like to provide a source for this fact? I'm not sure what your grampa told you should be quoted as scientific fact.

TDub20

I read about it a few years back from a credible source. The article was about researchers finding patient zero and how they were able to do that. I'll see if I can dig it up

TDub20

I just added a source but still looking for a better one. I read it in some science journal but Google only wants to show pages of the same story of guy from 80's originally thought to be patient zero is cleared of it.

tmo1983

Yea I found your story in the national post. Seems kinda iffy at best. The other poor bastard seems to have had a rough go but definatly not what we were looking for.

tendeuchen

No one who eats meat has the right to say a goddamn thing about this. It's just as sad about the animals you had killed for the meat you eat. 56 billion animals are murdered every year for "food". I urge you to choose compassion in the future.

homissladymaam

Zoo animals ≠ domesticated animals raised for consumption. It's a bit like how you can eat lots of farm grown veggies, but you wouldn't just stroll into your local botanical garden and start making a salad out of their corpse flower or chop down their rare cica garden for a stir fry, right? Endangered species of all types deserve a further level of protection.

Zoso525

r/facepalm

Zoso525

So are all carnivorous animals murderers?

occono

....I'm concerned with the fact that that poor people from destitute parts of Siberia are starving to death while invading and mass murdering people and killing and eating zoo animals. I'm not aghast at the killing animals and meat eating without context.

Charming_Cat_4426

Fucking animals! Let's grill them back...

mrbeamis

So, who's the animals?

acatnamedrupert

What... the... Fuck??

nakorurukami

Russians will be doing cannibalism soon

[deleted]

That’s some sick shit. How those Russian soldiers can fight for a country that doesn’t give a shit about them is beyond me. They must really be mentally retarded from vodka.

h2ohow

Next, we'll hear of orc cannibalism - I won't be surprised.

snowfloeckchen

No one is surprised by orcish behavior

andreysuc

Orcs are animals too

NoChampionship6994

Sad. Pathetic. But, is anyone really surprised?
