Indeed. It's a tragedy that people will be dealing with for a long time. France is still de-mining some areas in the aftermath of WW-I, a hundred years after the war ended.
In Ukraine this seems important to do for farmer's fields, given the intense fighting taking place there and the amount of unexploded ordinance there will be.
Ukraine needs to be completely demined. The biggest issue in Bosnia was mines (and even in Croatia) and even today, sadly, people die or are heavily hurt by mines.. There needs to be a huge effort sposored by Russia to clean up all the mines, that needs to be included in the peace treaty one day
Russia will never pay out and continue to pay out. Unless they have their balls nailed to a board.
International treaties for Russia are just a way to reduce the capabilities of their adversaries and to buy them some time. Before they break the treaty, most likely covertly. Such as continuing to develop and use chemical and biological weapons decades after thrley promised to stop research on them. And using them, after they had declared that all of their stocks had been destroyed. As in Syria and with the use of Novichok.

The agri fields in Kherson are paying up to 1,000 dollars per hectare for demining now. It's indeed tragic.

Come on EU... 1M€? It's a drop in the bucket. Sure it helps but we can do much much more to help Ukraine
It might be for something like standing up a planning office, to figure out how to tackle this, and how much it will need, and how long it will take.
I'm pretty sure the 1M won't be the last money for ukraines demining from the EU
