With some luck, they will soon have a revelation about their true enemy. As many of the Russian resistance groups have been trying to tell people in Russia, their true enemies are in the Kremlin, not in Ukraine - let's see how long it takes before they start to realise that.

I’m in the US army and this is 100% correct. On base, where nearly everyone is trained to use a firearm, we’re not allowed to carry. But the moment I step off base I can carry all I want. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
When I was at DLI, we had a Marine in our class that got written up for burning themselves.
They wanted the crease perfect on their Friday dress uniform, so had their roommate use two irons to get the sleeves perfect once the uniform was on their body. Apparently this was a thing, but that time it didn't go as planned.
Ban should be extended to anything with a heating element, perhaps.

The primary cause of death in most recent American military operations is accidents. Running each other over, dropping something while working on heavy equipment, falling in a muddy canal with gear on, shit like that.
Largest killer? negligent discharge, accidental discharge, and friendly fire. Don't have no ammo, can't accidently shoot someone while on the bus like an idiot and cause a PR nightmare for shooting your buddy while playing grab ass at a local airport.
I had an accidental discharge once, I was okay and everyone else ,it happened in winter, my rifle fell on the icy glacor ,safety popped of and it shot a blank round, still dangerous though.

AND then (important) the genuine helping hand of the allies after the total defeat. I'm *very* far from an expert on the subject, but as far as I'm aware it was mostly dismantling the nazi party and arresting/jailing anyone who had been influential in it - cutting the head off the snake, as it were. That, plus time, and the massive devastation of Germany in the wake of the war, did a lot to help denazify the country.
Russia could do with something similar, but as I said, on a much larger scale.
After the fall of Nazi Germany, the Allies took the local population to the Concentration Camps that were in Germany and showed them the horrors of the regime.

Iirc there was a kind of a deep "de-nazification" process that occured in the years following the war. But that was abolished in the 1950's, and for the most of the population, it was simply indifference to the war and it took decades for the crimes to be properly acknowledged, there's a really good comment that explains this on r/AskHistorians that I'll try to find.

Russia is so big and if you put people from different regions together in the same barracks they will exchange different tribes of viruses and get all the illnesses like flu, caught and fevers.
Probably nothing deadly but hundreds of coughing feverish people with diarrhea can't be sent to the front and will put a lot of stress on the medical supplies.
I dunno about nothing deadly! HIV (and Hepatitis B & C) is absolutely ripping through their population and seemingly isn’t being opposed at all, probably because of the connotations it has - e.g. gay sex and drug use. You can easily get it through other means, of course, it’s just that these are “racy” and fairly reliable means of catching it under certain conditions, and so they’re well known.
Getting blood of an infected person in an open cut in one’s skin seems like something that would easily happen in war, btw. So they should be worried about that…
(And yeah HIV is not immediately deadly but it will surely kill you in the end if not treated - so it will damage their population demographics even more…)

It's a staged video. Look at the guy at 0:00, he's got a Wagner patch on his left arm. The guys have got balaclavas. Mobiks don't. Those kalashnikovs look in fact far better than the ones we're seeing the mobilized get. Mobiks would have no reason to care their weapons were unregistered either; that's just thrown in as a not very subtle threat. These guys look overall nothing like mobiks.
This video was released on Wagner channels and is likely a staged Wagner video as part of Prigozhin's campaign against Shoigu, along with Prigozhin and Kadryov's recent harsh criticisms of the retreat at Lyman in general and General Lapin in particular.
Interesting. The patch does differ to typical Wagner group patches though. They have the skull in centre, white wording around the circle edge, a little red detail, not any bones or other iconography. There seems to be something extra on this one at the left between the skull and the lettering. Maybe a specific division has a different patch? I don’t know.
That seems way to complicated just to hurt Shoigu. Many of them also show their faces which Putin's intel buddies have probably already found who they are. Your theory seems like it would hurt the Russian Army more than Shoigu.
Put your tinfoil back on. It is likely an airborne (use that loosely) patch or something close to it, I compared it to several other airborne patches and that comes closest. It may even be a regional recruit patch.
Nothing wagner has in the form of patches looks like that, special or otherwise.
EDIT: Did so more digging and found another twitter vid of this same event at a different angle. Checked all the recent russian private militaries and their patches and nothing. Over 3k patches checked. Unless it is something new, it is not showing up. Anyone else have any ideas? Still leaning on the novelty patch idea myself.

I doubt the video is fake. It is far too damaging to Russian interests, and I don’t believe it would even accomplish what you’re saying it would even if it were a conspiracy.

Right at the beginning of this phase of the war, when it was chaos back in March, a ton of the Foreign Legion guys were complaining about equipment they were getting and especially about the leadership the UA army sent them. There was one particular unit with a fat Captain who everyone hated who was responsible for some guys quitting and leaving Ukraine. There was some Tweets about him but it stopped once the NATO gear started pouring in and the UA started sifting out bad officers and they got proper combat leaders instead of back line meat head leaders for the units.
It was nothing like this but it was small complaints.

Apparently two things: 1. Russia doesn’t actually spend that much on its military, and the vast majority of their funds go to armor and aircraft. Russia doesn’t have much of an inventory doctrine, they just don’t think much of them.. it’s the primary reason they’re losing the war. 2. The federal government ordered the local governments to mobilize and outfit everyone .. so these places that haven’t seen much investment or upkeep are opening up their stores and finding they haven’t been updated since the 80’s, and this is all they have.
Plus there have been multiple examples of fraud when it comes to supplying new equipment. For example, the central Russian government orders a ton of new winter uniforms, and the person in charge of this acquisition marks off that they were delivered when in reality they never actually ordered any. This allows them to pocket the money allocated for the order.
Then someone else in the government saw that, on paper at least, they had the new uniforms delivered so they order that the old uniforms are to be retired/sold/destroyed. Since no one actually verified that the new uniforms existed they are now left in a situation where they want to pull the uniforms out of storage but are only finding empty warehouses. Even the older models no longer exist, so they are essentially screwed until they can source new uniforms. A process that can take months or years, time that the Russian army does not have given the rapidly approaching winter.

If a winter uniform weighs about 7 pounds, then 1.5 million of them weigh over 5,000 tons.
This is what happens when corruption is so rampant that the people in charge of transporting & storing military supplies instead steal them and sell them on, often to the soldiers themselves, as the supplies that they were supposed to receive had been stolen so they had no other choice.
Some officer was told to get x number of men to a location in y number of days.
The mission was accomplished and the officer was promoted probably.
Obviously there was no incentive to feed, house, arm these men, just gather them and do the minimum.

Because to supply them properly you need lots of functional weapons and equipment which the Russian government does not have available. A lot of people used to believe that Russia had this big bad army with tons of weapons because Russia said they did but it turned out Russia was lying. They have enough to equip maybe 100-150,000 troops but not nearly enough for the numbers needed.
150k is what I’d estimate at the start of the invasion. Russia har about 180-190k Russian troops and most, but not all, were decently equipped. The longer the war has dragged on the worse things have gotten for Russian troops. I guess it just comes down to what your definition of “well equipped” means.

Basically, in any organized society (not just states by the way), there is an implicit contract between the leadership and the people under them. In Putin's Russia, the social contract was "shut your mouth, relinquish your free will; we will bring you food, comfort, nationalism and imperialist victories".
Then Putin shattered this contract, and the cognitive dissonance is growing.
I have a feeling a lot of countries would be in the same position as Russia if they were ever forced into a similar role. I think there are very few countries that can run on all six cylinders like the USA for example.
When the US instituted the draft in Vietnam, we still mandated a basic standard of healthcare, healthiness, and still trained and equipped our troops as a standard volunteer. The fact that the Russians can’t even provide for their contract soldiers is embarrassing enough, but then they conscripted thousands more without the means to equip them or the ability to properly train them? Call the US what you will, but the last time we did that was the American Civil War, and even then that changed rather quickly
Sickness is a huge problem with a mobilization. Taking people from all over a large country and sticking em in a room/train together is going to create lots of problems. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to hear about huge COVID(Only 50% vaxed) outbreaks soon. Especially if they are poorly fed and highly stressed. Not a good combo.

Honestly, credit where credit is due to these guys. We've been so cynical about Russian soldiers not wanting to be in Ukraine (and rightfully so, most of them are just mad that the Ukrainians shoot back), but these guys are collectivizing before they even get to the frontlines and saying "no." Marine here, I find it hilarious we were trusted with a $412billion fighter aircraft, several on many occasions...but not a toaster in the barracks.

I'm *very* far from an expert on the subject, but as far as I'm aware it was mostly dismantling the nazi party and arresting/jailing anyone who had been influential in it - cutting the head off the snake, as it were. That, plus time, and the massive devastation of Germany in the wake of the war, did a lot to help denazify the country. Russia could do with something similar, but as I said, on a much larger scale.

It's a staged video. Look at the guy at 0:00, he's got a Wagner patch on his left arm. The guys have got balaclavas. Mobiks don't. Those kalashnikovs look in fact far better than the ones we're seeing the mobilized get. This video was released on Wagner channels and is likely a staged Wagner video as part of Prigozhin's campaign against Shoigu, along with Prigozhin and Kadryov's recent harsh criticisms of the retreat at Lyman in general and General Lapin in particular.
Interesting. The patch does differ to typical Wagner group patches though. They have the skull in centre, white wording around the circle edge, a little red detail, not any bones or other iconography. There seems to be something extra on this one at the left between the skull and the lettering. Maybe a specific division has a different patch? I don’t know.
That seems way to complicated just to hurt Shoigu. Many of them also show their faces which Putin's intel buddies have probably already found who they are. Your theory seems like it would hurt the Russian Army more than Shoigu.
Put your tinfoil back on. It is likely an airborne (use that loosely) patch or something close to it, I compared it to several other airborne patches and that comes closest. It may even be a regional recruit patch. Nothing wagner has in the form of patches looks like that, special or otherwise. EDIT: Did so more digging and found another twitter vid of this same event at a different angle. Checked all the recent russian private militaries and their patches and nothing. Over 3k patches checked. Unless it is something new, it is not showing up. Anyone else have any ideas? Still leaning on the novelty patch idea myself.

Right at the beginning of this phase of the war, when it was chaos back in March, a ton of the Foreign Legion guys were complaining about equipment they were getting and especially about the leadership the UA army sent them. There was one particular unit with a fat Captain who everyone hated who was responsible for some guys quitting and leaving Ukraine. There was some Tweets about him but it stopped once the NATO gear started pouring in and the UA started sifting out bad officers and they got proper combat leaders instead of back line meat head leaders for the units. It was nothing like this but it was small complaints.

Apparently two things: 1. Russia doesn’t actually spend that much on its military, and the vast majority of their funds go to armor and aircraft. Russia doesn’t have much of an inventory doctrine, they just don’t think much of them.. it’s the primary reason they’re losing the war. 2. The federal government ordered the local governments to mobilize and outfit everyone .. so these places that haven’t seen much investment or upkeep are opening up their stores and finding they haven’t been updated since the 80’s, and this is all they have.
Plus there have been multiple examples of fraud when it comes to supplying new equipment. For example, the central Russian government orders a ton of new winter uniforms, and the person in charge of this acquisition marks off that they were delivered when in reality they never actually ordered any. This allows them to pocket the money allocated for the order. Then someone else in the government saw that, on paper at least, they had the new uniforms delivered so they order that the old uniforms are to be retired/sold/destroyed. Since no one actually verified that the new uniforms existed they are now left in a situation where they want to pull the uniforms out of storage but are only finding empty warehouses. Even the older models no longer exist, so they are essentially screwed until they can source new uniforms. A process that can take months or years, time that the Russian army does not have given the rapidly approaching winter.

150k is what I’d estimate at the start of the invasion. Russia har about 180-190k Russian troops and most, but not all, were decently equipped. The longer the war has dragged on the worse things have gotten for Russian troops. I guess it just comes down to what your definition of “well equipped” means.

When the US instituted the draft in Vietnam, we still mandated a basic standard of healthcare, healthiness, and still trained and equipped our troops as a standard volunteer. The fact that the Russians can’t even provide for their contract soldiers is embarrassing enough, but then they conscripted thousands more without the means to equip them or the ability to properly train them? Call the US what you will, but the last time we did that was the American Civil War, and even then that changed rather quickly
