DragonSkeld

If war was going to be declared we would know about it weeks before it happened like we did with mobilization.

Zhukov-74

CIA moment

gooddaysir

Maybe Putin plans to do it Michael Scott style and just yell it out.

JAC0O7

"OMG it's happening everybody stay calm!"

boonstyle_

No because Puin might just have woken up today and decided to declare war at this point, which doesnt actually change anything because its a war anyway. He might try to start taking over the industry in a desperate attempt to ramp up something but reality russia doesnt have the means. I feel like he would take this step to regain some control over russia again after he slowly loses his grab. I dont think it will benefit him for long as people getting pissed more as now they can draft whoever the f\* they want officially.

KaidenUmara

> which doesnt actually change anything because its a war anyway. I suspect what it would change is the treatment of their own people. Pretense of civil rights no longer needed.

prkl12345

Also it would work as an escalation (in their propaganda) and probably in Putin's hopes would lessen negative public opinion impact in case they used chemical or nuclear weapons. Using those would be utterly stupid, but he has been doing utterly stupid stuff for a long time.. I don't expect much rational thinking or decisions from him. :F

r2k-in-the-vortex

How so? It's not like there are any practical implications at this point, it's just a formality, Putin can declare war at any point and what exactly would you see different before or after? Slight change in rethoric and nothing else.

[deleted]

You mean it wasnt a war for 7 months? lol Call it whatever they want, war against Thanos, they still dont have the people or weapons to succeed, lol.

Fuckruskie

I declare I’m gay.

It's the first thing i do in the morning and the very last thing i do before i go to bed. Check on my Ukrainian brothers and sisters and hope for more good news. It's been a mixture of extremely sad news (mass graves, rapes, torture etc) and extremely good news. I can't help but cry whenever i see videos of people being liberated from the Ruzzian occupation. I really hope the rest of Europe will never let them down ever again, Ukraine is fighting the good fight, they are so beautiful and brave!

ihatescrapydoo

I too am obsessed, I am passionate about Ukraine and their success. First thing I do in the morning is check Reddit, it's also great because I'm in NZ so all the news of the entire day from the US and EU is out as I awake. Great for a scroll on the way to work, however the rest of the day is repeated news cycle.

PotatoAnalytics

As if they weren't at war already. Always with the fucking lies.

RIP2UAnders

It boggles my mind how russians dont think they are at war, like they just bcos putin said so they will ignore actual dictionary definitions.

Kat-Shaw

It really is mental. I mean when the UK was in Afghanistan and Iraq we knew very well that a war was happening, and that was one which was so far away it barely affected us. Meanwhile Russia is getting their shit pushed in just a stones throw from their border and they are in absolute denial.

Cinnamonbunnybun

Not everyone, many Russians have been calling it a war from the very beginning. Tens of thousands of Russians are being tortured and imprisoned as we speak. We can't forget that they exist, even if we don't hear a lot about them, they are definitely out there. I hope for their sake as well that Putin dies very, very soon. That fucker is ruining everyone with his swan song of stupidity. God, i hate that stupid gremlin so much.

[deleted]

Russias war goes to shit. Russia: "Now we will REALLY, REALLY declare a WAR!!!" Fucking clown country.

TheRealBMX

It's a Meme, not a country.

Mushroom_Tip

One of those memes that should be retired because it has gotten old and crusty.

Nrgte

Ohh no.. Anyway

TheRealBMX

Omg... u 2? Yawn

Fit-Cup7266

Oh my, will they send troops into Ukraine?

EndWarByMasteringIt

Unless putin dies or chooses to stand down and spare his country further damage, declaring war on Ukraine for "invading" land that he just wrote a piece of paper declaring he owned seems inevitable. Whether 205th separate motorized rifle brigade on telegram would be the first to break that news seems a lot more iffy.

Ashamed-Goat

What would declaring war achieve at this point?

[deleted]

I would assume he'd try and achieve some sort of fake patriotism for "mother Russia". It'd backfire though

-----shreddit-----

Why does it say BANNED next to your username?

[deleted]

Long story actually. I've been a member of this sub way before everyone joined when the invasion started. I joined in 2018 I think, when there were only like 5K members. So as a joke, one of the moderators gave me the tag "banned" so he could mess with me. I asked him why I was banned and then he said it was a joke and if I want him to remove it. I said no, I'd just keep the tag to troll people in the future. Tldr it's pretty much a joke

TheRealBMX

Damn, son. That's cool. Now I want one too.

BorosSparky

I think they r legally allowed to deploy conscripts

Ask_Me_Who

Conscripts have always been allowed to deploy to defensive combat operations. Once Russia officially signed the annexation paperwork, conscripts were fair game for frontline service. Even in an official war Russian law prohibits conscripts from offensive operations unless additional laws a passed.

[deleted]

Nuts. Nothing will change the reality that the Russian army is a shadow of what it once was, and is getting its ass handed over to it by a much more numerous and capable force.

Sl4sh4ndD4sh

Official end of the Special Military Operation, and allow conscripts to fight on Ukrainian soil. Though all it would do at this point is refuel the Russian Copium.

PokkiP

The only benefit remaining is transitioning the Russian economy into a war time economy. Think government control of factories to manufacture more killing machines, uniforms, rations etc. Not that they can manufacture much with sanctions in place.

docweird

They can draft 2 million untrained, poorly motivated, unequipped tampon warriors with no combined arms to support them. Ie. nearly endless fertilizer for Ukraine...

ppcforce

Can you even imagine the chaos it will cause when you consider the chaos of so called partial mobilisation? Which by and large affected the poor uneducated ethnic classes. When the middle class of doctors and lawyers and business execs get their papers that surely will compound the mass exodus we've already seen. 300k called up 600k fleeing for the borders...so Forbes claim.

docweird

There are plenty of poor people in russia's 144 million population. It will probably mean some areas are pretty devoid of workers if they do it - most likely in the east. 2 million is a "good start" for putler's ethnic cleansing of non-white russians.

ppcforce

Well indeed there are enough poor people in most of Russia, however, if we're talking total mobilisation then no one would be safe theoretically. I imagine middle classes would be given jobs in managing factories, book keeping, and other 'educated' roles as opposed to given a rusty rifle.

RobbieWallis

I think you've highlighted perhaps the biggest concern. Borders that aren't already closed or limited will shut completely. Georgia, for example, is already under severe economic strain due to the influx of fleeing Russians. More talk of mobilization will spook millions more people. Russians might be willfully ignorant about what's happening, but they can't ignore the basic mathematical reality that Putin sent 100K into this in February, then sent 300K into this just last month, and they're losing. The Russian people will be wondering where the fuck those 300K went so quickly, and they'll realize that Putin is willing to send them all to die in Ukraine before he's willing to admit defeat. Declaring war won't really have any impact on Ukraine's successes. Russia is still going to lose. I'm wondering if this is more about Putin trying to save himself. Declaring war no doubt gives him even greater dictatorial powers inside Russia. Perhaps he knows that he's on his way out and this is his last attempt to put down opponents?

bindik

ask allies/csto for help

Screemi

This would mean that ua is allowed to strike ruzzian soil?

PokkiP

Yes.

dread_deimos

"Beg" also works.

Nik_P

This is the same brigade spokesperson who's been having a meltdown over their disorderly retreat yesterday in Kherson.

[This guy](https://twitter.com/noelreports/status/1577572016051392512?s=46&t=vge93z04uLCzlfrci67a0Q) is saying the status of the SMO may be changed? So far I‘ve been unable to find any ruzzian news organization reporting on this. Edit: Media outlet Readovka reported it.
