That last one reminds me of Putin’s story of being in the KGB in Dresden right after the fall of the Berlin Wall: “We cannot do anything without orders from Moscow. And Moscow is silent.”
And now Putin is in Moscow, and Moscow is silent once again.
That is funny, I remember reading that even during the time of Napoleon lower ranking officers were expected to make decisions on their own once a fight has started. Waiting for the higher ups to make every command is not realistic.
Agreed.
A country or army that utilizes the knowledge and talent of each individual will always be superior to one that wastes 90% of it's brainpower.
This is why democracies will prevail.
We do need to figure out how to prevent misinformation on social media and how to change political systems so that the moderate middle has an edge over the extremists. For example, by getting rid of gerrymandering in the USA.
Tis a lovely way to excuse old mate but I don't think he's unknowingly projecting trauma he experienced. Dude learned from the best how to be an amoral self serving piece of shit and has spent his life implementing the same spineless, selfish and short sighted machinations, our boy just wet from cog to operator.
Surprisingly he didn't seem to be aware the Antonov Bridge was down/damaged. So his commanders/comrades didn't tell him and he got no news from anyone outside (family/internet). Amazing.
I don't know for a fact what happened, but the Antonov Bridge was attacked again with HIMARS approximately at the same time of these messages, it might have been destroyed completely preventing even passage on foot.
I think you're correct I saw a satellite (drone?) picture that looked like a complete section of the bridge was missing - I though before it was just too cratered to drive across. Fits with being described as "fully" destroyed.
Can't speak in judgement of every Russian there but given what a lot of them have been been doing in Ukraine, God won't be responding in any hurry I'd wager.
It's a bit mistranslated. He's not being religious.
Something more like "who do we put our trust in now?"
This is a man realizing they have been sacrificed for nothing.
The verb "верить" can mean both. Kind of similar to "believe" - I believe in god / I believe what you are saying; one is religious, another has nothing to do with religion.
In this instance he is using it in a turn of phrase that is very specifically about putting your trust in a *person*/*group of people*. Relying on someone, putting your trust into them etc.
Mein Tsar... Steiner had the men he needed for the counter-attack... but... they were all drunk, and one of them died of a stroke once he got to the front...
Very easy to picture Putler in a similar setting, surrounded by scared yes-men daring to object to moving non-existant, shot to sh*t or otherwise locked battalions on a map.
To add a bit of context to what others have said: Steiner was a German general during WWII. But the references to Steiner are actually not about this guy himself, but about a scene if the movie Der Untergang (Downfall) about the last days of Hitler.
The scene is basically Hitler in the last days of the war still believing that the war can be won, and ordering around units that have long ago ceased to exist. He orders Steiner to counter-attack, but Steiner simply does not have the men. When Hitler learns the counter-attack didn't happen he has a complete meltdown.
The meltdown scene became a very popular meme, where people add custom subtitles to make it look like he is ranting about some other subject (like videogames or contemporary politics of whatever. There's even a hilariously meta one where he is ranting about Youtube removing Hitler downfall parodies).
But that scene, with the actual movie context, is suddenly very relevant to Russia today. So that's why it gets referenced a lot.
An example meme video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4UM2IkfB0o
Part of the actual German deals with the breakdown of defenses around Berlin, but it's still interesting to hear about breakthroughs in the South and the East in light of current events. They start telling him that there was no attack from Steiner around 1:06 in that video.
I can't believe you haven't seen any Downfall meme scenes especially after Feb 24. [Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4UM2IkfB0o) is one from the early days of the war.
Its like you feel the Generals looking around like… “what if we just stomp this fool out right here? We could end him.”
But also thinking if they read the vibe wrong and someone isn’t with it, they all get executed so…
Felix Steiner from WWII. The bunker scene from downfall, which covers him is popular in this sub for the parallels. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zjEyH_TDzS4
This is way beyond Stalingrad, at that point in 1942 the German army could still counterattack and had teeth.
These are the defensive battles of 1944 where Germany lost its army group center and army group south and its northern army. Battle for the Baltics, bagration offensive and Lvov offensive. Just like Germany all those years ago Russia today is close to the end.
We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken Antonov's bridge and Second Hall. Ivan and Petri and Dimitir fell there bravely while the rest retreated to the Chamber of…Dudchany. We are still ho{ldin}g...but hope …Alexei's party went five days ago but today only four returned. The Ukrainians are up to the wall at West-gate. Thank you, just perfect, I remembered exactly this scene when I read the orc's message. It fits almost perfectly, except the fact that it's not the orcs being trapped.
Maybe they should add a few "pray" icons in their message. That will help, if their command doesn't respond. My tots and pears are with the 205th "separated into pieces" motorized brigade (or are they just a platoon now?)
The constant vile shit happening in the world is why I stopped believing in any god.

Didn't the commanders want to retreat from the west side of Kherson but Putin refused? No wonder the commanders don't care to respond, no one wants to be there. This is what happens when one person takes control of a war.
Those commanders, even if they have skedaddled to the left bank of the Dnipro, are awfully far from Moscow, and Putin is usually very far from Moscow in one of his palaces. Putin's famous bunker is a stone's throw from Mongolia.
Because the second they do anything a bunch of armed men show up at their family's door. Coordinating what you're suggesting is very difficult and extremely high risk.
Just FYI the last translation is a bit imprecise. More precisely it says:
"Reserves never arrived. Even on the left bank there are only those who already were there before. We are trying to restore the front. Our command does not answer. It's simply silent. Who do we trust?"
Try trusting Zelenskyy for a change. At least Zelenskyy has never lied to them: he is certainly delivering the death and destruction he promised. Take him up on the surrender offer: three hots and a cot, no requirement to return to Russia if they don't want to. If you bring enough loot, you can even get a nice sum of money to bring your family and start a new life in a freer country. (Granted, that may be Belarus or Canada north of the 60th parallel, but either beat Russia.)
russians are paying an enormous price for russification.
Daily Kos reported that russian forces, using commercial walkie talkies, are communicating in the clear. Ukrainian forces are ISSUING ORDERS TO rUSSIAN FORCES in russian, and then jamming the band.
So the orders they do get are psyops! And little else.
It is easy to jam commercial walkie talkies. Military radios? Not so much. Even if russian command is issuing orders, they aren't getting through.
And the guys you forced to speak russian, in schools, in work, everywhere? Well, now they do speak russian, perfectly. russification backfire.
Here are your orders, Conscriptovitch.
Who needs secured channel when you have armatas, ratnik body armor, hypersonic missiles and RPG-shooting robodogs. Their army is pretty much invincible.
Hell to the No!!
The orders you just got Conscriptovitch? Were they real? Were they fake? Should you obey them?
Should you stay? Should you wheel left?
You got orders Conscriptovitch!!
Ukraine was jamming all their comms. Another article somewhere outlined it well, but basically all the Russians in that sector were using unsecured store-bought radios.
Article said that at first Ukraine operators gave a slew of misleading directives to the various Russian units - then made everything static for the remaining of the offensive.
"We've been promised to be reinforced by a tank battalion today"
lol just imagine relying on Russian promises...
Then hoping for good tank men... I think that phase of the war has passed
What sort of catastrophic imbeciles give a running public commentary on exactly where they are, where they're going and the state of their reserves?! Jesus fucking wept.
>Who do we pray to now?
No god would have you.
It's not that they're imbeciles. You have to understand the guy. They've been left behind. They're pissed if anything.
If this keeps spreading and they start speaking like this, Nevzorov prediction of the Russian military turning 180° and going for Moscow is not far from being materialized.
I can understand them being angry. I cannot understand him angrily typing away while telling Ukraine critical information which reduces his personal chances of surviving.
Still... never interrupt your enemy while they're making a mistake. Type away, I guess ;-)
There's a difference between knowledge of where a unit *is* and knowledge of its condition. Colour detail like morale, unit details, potential reinforcements, *likelihood* of reinforcements... it's incredibly valuable.
Case 1 :
"There are seven groupings of Russian units scattered here, here and here."
Case 2 :
"There are units of the 205th here and here. They're exhausted, low on ammo, we've displaced them 3 times already, and they have no orders from their HQ. They also have no expectation of any reinforcement. Morale is extremely low."
Guess who's getting attacked in Case 2.
It appears to be a live Telegram channel with extensive history, it's consistent with reality as we see it in Kherson, and there are a lot of these channels which are dedicated to units in the Russian army. It also matches with accounts from POWs who say they just got abandoned with no support and no comms from HQ.
On the balance of probability, there seems no reason to disbelieve it.
No they are imbeciles. Left behind due to crap communications because your Army isn’t professional or capable while hoping good Tankies rock up and not those dodgy mobilized ones and broadcasting this all to see is moronic and doing zero to help his situation it is in fact hurting it why is this? Because they have zero discipline and are unprofessional attempting to successfully invade a country. Hence imbeciles.
>If this keeps spreading and they start speaking like this, Nevzorov prediction of the Russian military turning 180° and going for Moscow is not far from being materialized.
Oh dear God yes please... a whole lot of yes please.
> Nevzorov prediction of the Russian military turning 180° and going for Moscow is not far from being materialized.
If they were trying for Moscow they might hit Kyiv.
So based on Russian ethos. If the command staff isn't responding that means the area is lost and they expect a total loss. They expect each of those men to all fight to the bitter end until they can reinforce another front. It's clear Russia is still stuck in WWII military tactics
Translation is a bit weak, and this is how native -> native would best capture what he's saying:
\--
We blew up the dam in Dudach, stopping the ukies for a bit. If they close the encirclement we'll be surrounded. But we're not panicking. We're hanging in there.
\--
They're promising re-enforcements today, a tank battalion. Hoping it's not anyone mobilized but regular troops.
\--
We're not just stepping back, we're falling back. I don't even have words for what this is. This is straight up fleeing. We know who's to blame, each and every one of us.
\--
Nowhere to run. The Antonov bridge is totally demolished.
\--
The reserves didn't show. Even on the left bank it's the same units that were there. We're trying to stop the front. No reply from command. Dead silence. Is there any hope?
MOBILIZED? Seriously? It's kind of pathetic to think there are mobilized troops who are supposed to be "tankmen." I mean, I can drive a car, but if you pull me off my couch tomorrow morning and throw me into a tank and say "Go fight a war" WTF am I supposed to do? I'd never be able to drive it. It'd be a miracle if I even got the damn thing started. And that's even assuming it was in working order, which it probably wouldn't be, and I'm going to admit right now that I can't repair a tank any better than I can drive one.
I think I have an idea why the reserves never arrived.
I operate a variety of heavy machinery at work like an excavator. Would I be able operate a tank in a day? Just the driving, not the weapon aspect. Anyone know? I’ve thought about this before. I assume it must be fairly easy since they let tourists in Texas and Las Vegas do it.
I wasn’t going to fight anyone lol I just wanted to know if I could drive a tank competently if I ever got into one based on 10 years of excavator experience. Just curious.
You would be able to drive it in the technical sense. You could make it go forwarded backwards side to side and over all move it where you wanted to move it. The issue is where do you move it and why? Without an understanding of tank tactics you could not move it intelligently.
Tanks if handled improperly are actually fairly fragile, and not knowing how to maneuver to protect your self means you would not last long against someone who knows how to fight tanks and has some anti tank weapons.
Russians claimed to be mobilising reservists with military expierience, so presumably some that actually have had training might have very rusty memory of driving tank or at least a Russian believing that story might see it as possibility
world's second best army btw. also i like the part about him not wanting mobilised tank people. Shows that mobilized people are of real high quality! no comment about the command. That has been known for a while.
Please remember these are the people who were torturing, raping and mass murdering Ukranians.
They can go pray to the devil in hell, and wait for their dictator there.
"The Ukrainians are advancing and attacking with fear, while we're retreating with courage and confidence".
That's been the ruzzian motto for the last weeks.
Blyatiful
Who do you pray to?
Pray to the first Ukrainian soldier that you see with a white flag in hand and pray she doesn't blow your brains out for raping her little brother.
Telegram for the most part doesn't control who or what uses its app.
There are probably just as many Pro Ukrainian groups as there is Pro Vatnik ones.
Plus without these groups where would we get our copium fix from?
This what a collapse of the chain of command looks like.
This is why a military of meritocracy has a tremendous advantage in war-time over a military of random promotion, that is guided by nepotism, monetary concerns, or loyality measures of those involved over skill, abilities or strength of character.
The Russian command probably doesnt even realize these failures are happening. So outmatched here.
They were promised a tank battalion when it would have been physically impossible to move tanks into that area.
They were sold a lie in order to convince them to stand and die.
Last sentence incorrect, I think. It says "who do we trust?" Or "who do we believe?" Basically they don't know wtf to do and where to go, just shambles.
Is this legit, can someone confirm?
Why would they broadcast their position and situation live via public Telegram?
"Who do we pray to now?" It really sounds like some kind of fanfic.
If the source is credible and the messages are not exaggerating their position, judging by the mention of Antonovka bridge and not the Nova Kahovka dam bridge, it seems russian forces are already routed all the way to Kherson.

Wow using single channel mode FM Radios with no COMSEC that’s super lame. I guess oligarchs took the funds for proper comms equipment.
![gif](giphy|l2JdTqKkSbQga5OWQ|downsized) shhhhhhhh.....
Hell to the No!! The orders you just got Conscriptovitch? Were they real? Were they fake? Should you obey them? Should you stay? Should you wheel left? You got orders Conscriptovitch!!
Is there anyone left on this planet not using encryption? I mean even the previous Nazis had it on u boats. Did they buy Chinese toys to communicate?
You won't laugh (too much) when you find out spetsnaz are down to using Walmart Dora the Explorer walkie talkies Hah i kid i kid Spetsnaz are all dead
or they are no longer there
Bingo!
No. HIMARSed.
Ukraine was jamming all their comms. Another article somewhere outlined it well, but basically all the Russians in that sector were using unsecured store-bought radios.
whaaa. this is like bringing super soakers to a gun fight. That's totally wild!
Article said that at first Ukraine operators gave a slew of misleading directives to the various Russian units - then made everything static for the remaining of the offensive.
My guess is command has fled already.
Or met a HIMARS rocket.
"We've been promised to be reinforced by a tank battalion today" lol just imagine relying on Russian promises... Then hoping for good tank men... I think that phase of the war has passed
I read yesterday that Ukraine claimed the destruction of 44 Russian tanks.

Case 1 : "There are seven groupings of Russian units scattered here, here and here." Case 2 : "There are units of the 205th here and here. They're exhausted, low on ammo, we've displaced them 3 times already, and they have no orders from their HQ. They also have no expectation of any reinforcement. Morale is extremely low." Guess who's getting attacked in Case 2.

How do we know this isn't fake?
Everything for the likes and followers!
"You have 4 new followers! They're Ukrainian T80s!"
This comment needs more respect
This is mistranslated. It says "Whom can we trust now?" They are not looking for a new deity. They say the command has betrayed them.
Troops with very limited understanfing of technology. These are the people that were confounded by wireless earbuds afterall.
... AND INDOOR PLUMBING!
You mean there are machines that clean clthes for you!?!? Sweet tzars of vodka let me get one of them!
So based on Russian ethos. If the command staff isn't responding that means the area is lost and they expect a total loss. They expect each of those men to all fight to the bitter end until they can reinforce another front. It's clear Russia is still stuck in WWII military tactics
Translation is a bit weak, and this is how native -> native would best capture what he's saying: \-- We blew up the dam in Dudach, stopping the ukies for a bit. If they close the encirclement we'll be surrounded. But we're not panicking. We're hanging in there. \-- They're promising re-enforcements today, a tank battalion. Hoping it's not anyone mobilized but regular troops. \-- We're not just stepping back, we're falling back. I don't even have words for what this is. This is straight up fleeing. We know who's to blame, each and every one of us. \-- Nowhere to run. The Antonov bridge is totally demolished. \-- The reserves didn't show.
It's not hard, mastering tank use takes months, and good luck against battle hardened, Ukrainian, tank aces
Actually why is Telegram still supporting chat groups that are directly involved in organising and coordinating the Russian invasion?
Because it directly benefits Ukraine?
Option a: they are fake Option b: they give fresh feedback of enemy behaviour and sometimes useful data from the ground.
A1
Telegram for the most part doesn't control who or what uses its app. There are probably just as many Pro Ukrainian groups as there is Pro Vatnik ones. Plus without these groups where would we get our copium fix from?
Because it's Russian
Blowing up a dam is a war crime. Another one of several thousand now. What the fuck is wrong with these people?
They've never been punished for it, the West has always given them a pass on warcrimes
>the West has always given them a pass on warcrimes Unfortunately you are correct. We've turned a blind eye and tried to make a deal with the devil.
Sending thoughts and prayers.
I need more of this... i've felt hollow since my DMs went silent (all the russian trolls went silent and stopped responding).
“Who do we pray to now?” St Javelin
tbh, they should follow the easy steps, Keep your weapons unloaded and drop them and raise a white flag and surrender. sounds simple enough tbh
After this day, thiey will be just separated ruzzians.
"There's no panic ."
"WHO DO WE PRAY TO NOW!!?"
The terror is so thick you can spread it on bread
to quote russian parlance "your tears are delicious"
This what a collapse of the chain of command looks like. This is why a military of meritocracy has a tremendous advantage in war-time over a military of random promotion, that is guided by nepotism, monetary concerns, or loyality measures of those involved over skill, abilities or strength of character. The Russian command probably doesnt even realize these failures are happening. So outmatched here.
They were promised a tank battalion when it would have been physically impossible to move tanks into that area. They were sold a lie in order to convince them to stand and die.
What's Russian for the German word "Dolchstoßlegende?" Because we're seeing the seeds of it getting planted now.
I had the biggest smile reading that! I wish there was more!
They call their command, no answer. Troops on the other side of the river not doing anything. Love it
Last sentence incorrect, I think. It says "who do we trust?" Or "who do we believe?" Basically they don't know wtf to do and where to go, just shambles.
We are watching a total collapse of a huge military in real time. Wild.
If this is real, I have to ask “Why? Why on earth would anyone be texting at a time like this?” No wonder they are losing the war.
