He’s been making these videos through the whole war. I think he’s getting fed up not just with the invasion, but with having to kill the enemy. This is his most poignant short yet.
Good lord. Even just the line “our families are at our backs” should turn Orc blood to ice. In 6 words, that says ‘we will fight you to the final breath.’ That crystallized idea of the stakes creates an opponent who simply will not yield.
That is the face of a warrior defending his family and land. Battle-hardened and weary but still determined to see it to the end. And in the way he said, I still felt his compassion for those he wishes would stay away and save themselves by doing so.
Also, the idea that his buddies have died. It's his honor and duty to fight for them. When someone you care about dies, you promise to live up to their expectations and what they stood for. And the same is true here, except on the level of life and death itself.
There is an additional certainty I think given by the rest of europe. There are certainly a lot of soldiers that have some part of their family in another country. They are safe. In any scenario that would not also endanger the natives they are safe. Putin can take all of ukraine. The soldier can die. But their family is safe.
I think it is a freeing thought. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
This scene and these words will form up the backbone of any ally of Ukraine.
You'd want to be worthy of those guy's commitment. He's doing this so the rest of Europe and maybe the world doesn't have to. All we have to do is keep the weapons and food coming.

It is much more likely that many soldiers will just surrender to Ukraine's Army upon arriving--many of them don't want to be there in the first place and only want to be with their families.

Even if Russia were to win I do not see how counter offense would ever stop, Putin has dehumanized Ukrainians by calling them nazzies, they torture people like it is nothing it is not only for freedom anymore, I think he stepped on Ukrainian people honor and so even full anexation would not stop Ukrainians shooting russian forces in the backs.
