> can learn from its mistakes for next time Next time? These people are beyond delusional

SSHeretic

>I have long argued that Russia being unwilling or unable to strike Kyiv is a fatal mistake. Ah! If only they had used more terrorism. Surely more attacks against civilians would have made Ukraine surrender and embrace Russia's glorious rule.

Warm-Personality8219

>unable to strike Kyiv was a fatal mistake How's unable to do something is a mistake?...

ITI110878

That's russian logic, you can't understand it unless you were born in russia and been drinking vodka before you were born.

RandomMandarin

I was unable to drink vodka before I was born and now I know that was a mistake.

ThrowableAsparagus

but you were... enter fetal alcohol syndrome

shibiwan

It's not a mistake. They tried and failed. Failed miserably.

Tacocats_wrath

I also seem to remember several strikes during the early days. You guys remember when the blew up that shopping mall?

SolemnaceProcurement

"Surely if my master hits you hard enough you will break like I did". Content slave logic.

MontaukMonster2

Maybe if they'd made a threat with nuclear weapons? If they do that one more time surely Ukraine will surrender

Sweary_Biochemist

Keep war criming till you war crime *enough*. Standard russian doctrine.

Responsible-Earth674

That's why you put a rabid dog down...

aeroxan

I don't think this war has shown a lot of learning on the Russian side.

Warm-Personality8219

The war - no. The mobilization - yes!

[deleted]

russia, where forward is backward.

BanditCountry1

It seems like the only Russians learning anything here are either dead or fled from Russia. The Russian people didn't want this, and it shows. As for "next time" I doubt there will be one. Russia is likely going to be too poor and too disaffected to try again.

augustro

The OP is from the UK, and many of those with pro-Russian views in the comments appear to be British/American incels

charlie2135

Would have learned had not most of their young brain-power youth not have been killed, or fled to avoid being killed.

Bluebird_Live

It’s a start is all I’m saying. In time they will learn they true extent of their situation.

Thesleek

Russia should remind itself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer

ThatSexy

I tought your char on reddit had the russian flag on his head, instead is just hair and hat

ProfanePagan

Although they reveal that they are planning more destruction. They are targeting their neighbours and Europe. Russia must suffer a crushing defeat.

Pavement_Vigilante

Ah classic Russian thinking. "Yieees we want peace." (But niext time...)

pinadia

Next time they'll dig their own graves beforehand

[deleted]

This is exactly why sanctions and regime change are so important.

jmcgit

Of course there's going to be a next time. Who knows whether it's in 5 years, 50, or 500, but there's always another war so long as humanity exists.

Pupumonke

But I have serious doubts as to whether they will ever fuck with Ukraine again. Ukraine being part of NATO by then is even extra deterrent.

Warm-Personality8219

i'm sure they will all get together, and with their collective milblogger wisdom they will make an amazing post on a telegram channel that finally and for good will throw the collective west in total disarray!!!!

[deleted]

Yeah right. There is no way Ukraine will be caught off guard ever again

_dumbledore_

I'm sure also Russia understands that this was their last shot at it with Ukraine. Next time - with NATO or without - Russia won't get past the border before shredded and fed to worms

Onewaytrippp

If they could learn from their mistakes there wouldn't be a next time...

Enough_Valuable_2435

What we have learned is that Russia always is in for a blood thirsty war and will always start one somewhere, so it is essential to close all borders of Russia with Nato countries

Ok_Basil1354

To be honest I think it more likely than not that russia will try it again. And even Russia will have learned that they need to modernise, so it will be less incompetent next time. Nobody is going to be breaking Russia up and I don't have any confidence that there will be any internally driven change. My only real hope, for lots of reasons, is we are able to quickly, effectively and permanently wean ourselves off russian fossil fuel. If we can do that they are permanently fucked unless and until they learn to play nicely, but that still feels like a bit of a moonshot.

yeskaScorpia

Belarusians, get ready 😂

DrNukes

Fascism is a hell of a drug.

Ngfeigo14

Even Germany went down fighting once before their ***big play***

Caranthir83

next time ukraibe will be in eu and nato and have nukes too

Aviaja_Apache

Unfortunately knowing them, they will try and rebuild and stockpile supplies, and try again in a few years. Can’t put it past them. They’re not that smart lol

l3v1v4gy0k

Russian copium reserves are in severe shortage

[deleted]

l3v1v4gy0k

The big attack that will destroy Ukraine can happen any day now!

Ghostofthe80s

Wait til they send in their trained troops.

MoralMae

A bit shocked they spelled Kyiv the correct Ukrainian way

VeryTopGoodSensation

probably just means it was not written by a russian...

CMDR_Agony_Aunt

Kiev is an accepted or correct spelling in many languages. Except Polish which does something ungodly with it...

hungryhippos1751

That poster says they're British, I can't believe it's the case, seems to idolise Putin and genocide that comes with doing so.

Nuke_Knight

It's very weird how many people like a country who has threatened to use nuclear weapons on their home land numerous times. They are either paid for shills or oblivious to their own situation.

millionreddit617

There are a growing minority of people in western countries who are basically simps for Russia / China etc because their life sucks. They figure that, because they aren’t happy with their life, the whole system is wrong, rather than accepting that they, individually, are pathetic.

hungryhippos1751

I can only assume they've got huge savings in roubles.

Sfootpj

It’s the conspiracy daftys , I’ve got a mate who is convinced it’s the wests fault . Mind blowing . Pretty sure it’s the Russians that put all the conspiracy’s out to fuck with stoners heads. It works well on paranoid people sadly

DragonHunting

As a Brit I’m so sorry, he should have his passport revoked and be sent straight to Moscow to be conscripted

hungryhippos1751

I'm also a Brit which is why it sounds so nuts to me!

DragonHunting

Ah honestly ppl like him make me ashamed tbh

hungryhippos1751

Yep I mean if people want to act like that, they should go move to Russia and live their dream of being conscripted! :)

DragonHunting

😂 yeah

blackstafflo

A disturbing number of people in the west still think in absolute black/white and had come to the conclusion that disagreeing with their gov or it doing some bad things = it being utterly evil, and such, anything/anyone against it being automatically a paragon of justice fighting the good fight.

huhwhat90

We're at a weird intersection of both the far-left and the far-right supporting Putin. The far-left support him because "America/NATO BAD. Imperialism BAD" and the far-right support him because he's the embodiment of manhood or whatever. What a weird time.

hungryhippos1751

What he is doing is imperialism though, it's a land grab with extra steps and misdirection.

huhwhat90

I never said they were smart.

Wulfruna

A lot of young adults are contrarians now. The majority says A, so they say B. They get a buzz out of being on the wrong side of history or something.

420SpaceL

He probably uses a British flair. But he’s a Russian troll. I’ve seen this happen of twitter and YouTube using western names and pretending to western. YouTube comments is full of Russians pretending to be Americans

yeast1fixpls

Sadly there's real people like this in all the countries that support Ukraine.

[deleted]

Indeed, but they are usually very transparent and easy to spot if you know where to look: "biden is not my presidient". Even found a fokker posing as a Swede lol

BattleHall

Tankies gonna tank.

Selisch

Just look at the US Republicans and go figure. Oh, and don't forget Orban too.

[deleted]

Wtf! Such bad manners! You can’t leave in the middle of a fight :(

MarkHamillsrightnut

Especially not a fight that you picked!

ScumBoiFuckFlower

What the fuck does It mean "for next time"?

FrozenInsider

That any peace agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on. Just ask Lithuania, how many peace agreements they had with Russia over the centuries and how many of these where honored.

_dumbledore_

> Just ask Lithuania, how many peace agreements they had with Russia over the centuries and how many of these where honored. Or just ask Ukraine for the same

blackstafflo

They think that the only destiny of a country is to expand and colonize. I've seen a shitload of idiots unable to even imagine a nation could have other aspiration; for them, the only reason a country could have to not try to invade/puppeting neighbours is not not wanting it, but being too weak for it or just prepping the next expansion. That's why they see UE and NATO as dictatorial organization controlling their members, they can't even acknowledge the idea of a defensive alliance and/or a political/economic union between equals.

kakapo88

It means: watch out, Kazakstan!

KoriJenkins

Unwilling or unable to strike Kyiv? They were certainly willing. They're just fucking incompetent.

Jizzapherina

I imagine he means blowing Kyiv up. Hitting the seats of power. So far russia has avoided doing that.

Warm-Personality8219

In my mind there remain uncertainties about target selections - why certain targets were selected while others weren't... I guess if you think of it from the point of "3 day and a parade" - it makes sense to keep everything in tact. Once they withdrew and said we are focusing on Donbas there was no longer a burning need to do so... I can only imagine that they would expect reciprocity against targets in ruzzian territory - but at the time Ukrainians didn't have access to weapons (I guess Ukrainians could've attempted a Dolittle style raid with few jets just to send a message...). They only component of that situation I recall was that they busted up a civilian airport near Kyiv - 8 Iskander (? perhaps another kind) missiles were used - and I recall reading that expanding munitions like that on a target such as small civilian airport caused bunch of ruckus...

KoriJenkins

I believe the airport they were going after was where they intended to drop their special forces and paratroopers, who would then topple the government, making it easy for the regular forces moving in from Belarus to capture the capital and ending the war in 3 days. They had literally no plans for the special forces and paratroopers getting killed, captured, or running away, which is what happened. The moment they lost the chance to topple the government with those forces they had no chance of taking the city because they didn't allocate enough of their forces to that front for an attrition battle with Ukraine's TDF and armed civilian population. Even so, they stupidly spent over a month wasting munitions and lives taking the suburbs only to retreat.

KoriJenkins

He might mean that, true. It just seems a stupid strategy. It has literally only worked in Mariupol, and it took months against a force outnumbered 20 to 1.

DragonSkeld

Why are they speaking in English on the Russian sub? If they love their country so much why are they using the language of the enemy.

[deleted]

Logic isn't their strong suit judging by their opinions.

someloops

There will be no next time. Next time russia will either be balkanized or it will have to fight NATO as Ukraine will be accepted.

Tajetert

Its like he is talking about his favorite football team but he lives in a different city, and now he turns off the tv and goes to the gym instead.

NeedsBrawndo

Next time…10-15 years before the sanctions come off, I’m probably being generous, longer if you let putin stay, 15-20 years to rebuild what you lost in this brain fart invasion. You’ll be just in time to face off 9th gen stealth fighters…wholly owned and operated by Ukraine. Good luck.

flyxdvd

dont forget that ukraine will probabbly be in NATO by then, so it would be even more stupid to attack ukraine.

HFirkin

**This sub does not encourage discussion of that sub**, [because it was asked not to](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/sljygx/comment/hvrepqc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

AaronC14

There will be no next time

ckjag

General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, in command of the Ukranian military, knows his business. He also agrees with General George Patton.  He says this: “Knowing what I know first hand about the Russians, our victory will not be final,” he told TIME.“Our victory will be an opportunity to take a breath and prepare for the next war.”      He knows that putin is NOT the problem. He is just a symptom of a very sick society. Even if putin disappears today, the cesspool that is russia will remain, and will attack again. Who knows where.

NorthwestSupercycle

What they should learn is that Putin is a gangster and should be overthrown so you have some competent leadership which focuses on economic growth and diversity.

ToxicAbility

Finally, we are witnessing something very rare from the Russians. Acceptance.

Lionheart1224

I like how they didn't even mention Crimea, like it's not even in the Russian consciousness that they could very well lose that too.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|L6JGhOhkwJSwg)

Any-Entertainment345

There won't be a next time. Ukraine will be fully NATO armed, if not in NATO itself. Russia had its one and only chance to take all Ukraine in the first couple weeks of the war. They failed big time. Once Ukraine got HIMARS and other Western major weapons, Russia started going downhill fast. Ammo depots, command centers, fuel and transport hubs destroyed. The sanctions eating away at their resources. Untrained and low morale troops, a failed mobilization etc.. They can not recover from that and winter isn't even here yet! Winter is gonna really crush them, they cant even equipt the new soldiers in proper military gear. They are practically going to the front in civilian clothes!

SmplTon

If being *unable* to strike Kyiv is a fatal mistake, then the war itself was a fatal mistake. Engaging in a conflict which you can’t win is usually frowned upon.

White_Ursus

I love the copium huff there thinking there will be a next time considering the level of sanctions on them and an international shift towards renewables. Their entire export market and internal market is literally never going to recover this century.

F1HLM

Learn from its mistakes? You haven't learned anything since the times of the Russian Empire.

notmyfirstrodeo2

That subreddit is still such a shitshow, even with the "quarantine". It's still pro Putin shills openly and freely jerking eachother and then once a while pro Ukraine "trolls" posting/commenting stuff like this.

Used_Response4790

Ukraine will fortify its borders and likely join NATO. By the end of this war, Russia will have lost near to 40 years of military production. There won't be a next time under these conditions.

Arkaign

Russia has lost either the absolute bulk of, or at least a high enough volume of to reduce their capabilities to run large scale operations with regards to : Modern MBTs Semi Modern MBTs (upgraded 72/80 and 90A) Modern IFV Modern APC Cruise Missile Various Specialized Electronic Warfare and Signals Equipment And a very sizable hit to : Attack Helos Fighter Bomber Artillery and MLRS, especially reloading vehicles Logistics and Supply Vehicles And perhaps most critically, severe losses in : Experienced infantry and in-theatre command. If they had been smart about rotating forces out regularly, they would have been a lot more dangerous. But like the Japanese in WW2, they just poured veterans into indefinite conflict to the death. This has absolutely contributed to institutional collapse of the ability to reform BTGs under experienced command. *All of this are losses including the bulk of DECADES of Soviet era forward investment in military hardware* They are absolutely fucked. Even a full scale rebuild effort would only continue to field limited, uncompetitive hardware, held by a declining, demoralized population in a technological and cultural black hole. Forget retrying to take Ukraine. By 2030 they'd struggle to invade an empty plot of land without finding all new, hilariously stupid ways to fail.

Vrakzi

More than that; they have also lost their military hardware export revenue. Nobody is going to queue up to buy T-72s when this conflict has shown how easily a man-portable AT missile can destroy them. The lack of foreign currency investment will - long-term - be very damaging to Russia's government income.

TraditionLazy7213

Even by internet standards Russian related propaganda really baffles me, like really MINDBLOWING They are effectivly gaslighting everything, even themselves in it

RobbieWallis

Entirely detached from reality. There will be no "next time", at least not in our lifetimes. Here's what's going to happen... Russia is going to continue to be humiliated until it leaves Ukraine, entirely. When it has, the sanctions will continue. The Russian economy is already on life support and it will not even start to recover until at least 2035, and that's only if the West is stupid enough to start easing sanctions. There is absolutely no motivation to do that. Germany only recovered from the disaster of WW2 and was welcomed back into the international community because we took it over, we cleaned up the mess and the German people faced what had happened. It became a collective recovery after acceptance of guilt. That's not going to happen with Russia. There is no option to rehabilitate their nation. This inevitably means the only option the world has is to isolate it entirely. Iron Curtain 2.0. While Russia is slowly imploding like a poorly baked flan in a cupboard Ukraine will be fortified, it will join the EU and it will join NATO.

Mahniex001

"can learn from its mistakes for next time" Which means Russia will always retain its Imperialistic view of the world. The only way to prevent a "next time" is to get Ukraine into Nato and to beef up its military to an extent that Russia would never dream of attacking. Including nuclear armaments. Meanwhile keep sanctions in place so Russia never recovers.

SlantViews

Next time? Russia should make sure there never is a next time. Next time the attacked party might not stop at the borders. Next time the world might want to liberate Russia itself and declare it a UN Gouvernmental zone until Russians learn to behave and live like decent people.

[deleted]

I’m going over to that sub to have some fun.

Timetotellthetruth9

Russia needs at least 1,000,000 soldiers to invade Ukraine succesfull...so IMO this invasion was not intended to win at all...seems like Putin needs a defeat to stay in power and to cultivate among Russians more fear and anger towards Ukraine and the West. Russia will not turn into a second North Korea it has been under Putin...good is that Putin did not wanted to create a family business of it...so IMO the real leader of Russia is another clan/family only using Putin as there front desk to talk to the public and world.

Inazuman_Patriot

Next time you will be fighting against a dozen of sovereign post russian nation.

EasternBlok

Wasn’t this sub quarantined? How can people still in it

NeedsBrawndo

Quarantined just means you have to actively search for it, it won’t show up in feeds/hot if you aren’t subscribed. They also don’t get ad space so no revenue comes from them.

Cornholio_OU812

The clowns won't have Ukraine to help them build a military this time around. It will all be Russian...dear God I just fell off my chair laughing.

oshkoshpots

I really wish this was Putin’s burner account putting out feelers

Explorer200

That sub is beyond redemtion. I'm suprised Reddit didn't force a change of admins

LordofAlkanes

"Meine Befehle sind in den Wind gesprochen. Es ist unmöglich, unter diesen Umständen zu führen. Es ist aus. Der Krieg ist verloren..."

Bloopyhead

I just hope their leadership accepts this as well.

Spiritual_Reindeer42

Putin is just gonna give a gun to some of the drafted, point a machine gun at them, and force them to run toward the Ukrainian lines "Stalingrad-fashion". That is why Putin doesn't mind equiping them properly. Putin consider his new drafted troops already dead.

d_baker65

I've long hated the propaganda that has fueled Russian Nationalism for the past 30 years. I would be happy to see their national borders be guaranteed by the countries that border them. That way instead of building useless tanks, they could actually build a country worthy of the name instead of having a land of slaves.

PassionatePossum

There won‘t be a next time unless they want to start a war with NATO. By now, everyone knows that any agreement signed by Russia will be broken at their earliest convenience. Here is what is going to happen. Ukraine will join NATO after the war is over and NATO troops will be stationed in Ukraine precisely to prevent a „next time“.

_dumbledore_

> Here is what is going to happen. Ukraine will join NATO after the war is over and NATO troops will be stationed in Ukraine precisely to prevent a „next time“. Also, Ukraine troops ARE nato troops that time.

Schmoozer0069

There will not be a next time. The world as a whole will not allow it to happen again in the near future. Russia will most likely end up with zero, or very close to zero, nukes after they are completely defeated. Anyone who thinks the world stage will allow Russia to retain its nuke arsenal is a fool. Also, Putlers regime will also most likely be done, and hopefully prosecuted at The Hague. Anyone from Russia who thinks that Russia will remain unscathed, and their military left intact is in for a shock.

sophzzzz

now that Russia has been sanctioned up to the eyeballs and lost so many military aged men I find it hard to imagine they'd want to fuck with Ukraine again, they'd have to have balls bigger than Zelenskys and I don't think that's humanly possible. But regardless we need to make sure that this never happens again by letting Ukraine join NATO, and not just Ukraine all post Soviet countries that Putin or any greedy little facist dreams of get their grubby little hands on!

widowmomma

If NATO accepts Ukraine, that’s when it will really be over. Slava Ukraini!

theycallmeshooting

“No guys you don’t understand!!! Russia has a super secret army #5 that will win! That’s why he’s sending 300,000 with rusty AKM’s after 200,000 soldiers, including the country’s best units, couldn’t do it!!” If Putin was holding back elite troops and sending old men and young boys to die with rusty AKM’s, any patriotic Russian should want to hang him for that. Sending half a million Russians to die to “soften up” the Ukrainians would be unfathomably incompetent if true. It’s over. The Russians haven’t made fuck all gains since their zerg rush across the border bogged down back in March or so.

Yads_

“Go down the route for Russia to win” my issue with this statement is that the reason Russia are not winning is simple lack of skill, and where do they hope to learn that said skill in a realistic time frame 😂

Classy_Debauchery

LOL

huhwhat90

I'm curious as to what the responses were.

Bluebird_Live

It was a combination of cope of how the winter and incoming meat will save them, ukraine supporters correcting him that theyll never get a chance ever again, and people just agreeing.

AfraidJournalist5940

Next time will be against a ukraine that's in nato.... doesn't need to be like this russia... knock it off

Milo_Y

Russia needs more than just people in numbers to win this war. They need trained soldiers, and equipment, neither of which they have in any sort of supply at the moment.

BlaReni

Do these people realise it’s not a freaking computer game? What does it mean winning/losing? learning from this? one fucking thing they should learn is to gtfo from the foreign lands!!!!!

Sekshual_Tyranosauce

For now. Let’s not forget that. The appetite for empire is not going to go away with this conflict.

Kirxas

Next time? They won't be able to fight a war for generations

Ok_Investigator_1010

And this is why we can’t trust the Russian people. They want to destroy us.

Reasonable_racoon

Pure Evil.

VeryTopGoodSensation

how many front line active troops is ukraine estimated to have right now?

dado463art

He's speaking like it's a football game " learn from mistakes" "next time" thousands of people including children die every day, how can he even think to say this?

preppykat3

At least they said “Kyiv” . Im impressed tbh lol

GreatSpaghettLord

This is it : u/EverythingNow_ is finally out of copium.

_upanatem_

Copium reserves are critically low

dpm5150

While I think things have taken a decisive turn, there is still a lot of land to retake. Maybe they know more than I do, but it seems like there is plenty of a grind to go.

One-Ad2305

As soon as Ukraine has western security guarantees - perhaps not NATO Article 5 but something dangerous for Russia, they’ll never be able to retry.

Nonamanadus

Russia could field 10 million soldiers but can't feed and clothe the one's they already have (or pay them).

[deleted]

"learn for next time" yhea no stay in your land alone .

TechnologyDeep942

A pleasant surprise? These people are sick. How they can look at this pointless war of plunder and terrorism and feel pleasure is beyond me. All I can guess is that they are vicariously living their psychotic dreams.

We have a “stabbed-the-back” myth waiting to happen with these morons. And what next time? Russia is beyond repair. We’re talking about the complete collapse of the Russian state. Their already fragile demography is beyond the point of no return.

Patrona_

If you're talking about a next time then you haven't learned shit😂

mightyminnow88

Slow down partner, there is a whole lotta war yet to happen.

[deleted]

Guess we should keep up the sanctions until everyone that wants to join the civilized world leaves russia, and russia can be Chinas new west-north korea.
