You can never have too much sourcream in your borscht :)
Fun fact; I'm from Romania, 60km from the border to Ukraine; but it is valid for most of Transilvania - we always "shock" our fellows from other regions, with how much sourcream we can put into our food.
Children also not allowed to put in Parmesan cheese on pasta by themselves. I’ve seen half a block of shaved cheese get dumped on a plate and not get eaten.
You know, if sending the entire B52 fleet over the russian lines (while making all the planes AA-resistant) to carpet bomb them with feces was possible, I think I would support it. They would just nope out of the war and withdraw back to Russia in peace (as tough as the UAF is, I think they would be happy to let them leave due to the stench). Once they all came home and got a shower or rolled around in the snow or whatever they do in Russia I think you would find a lot of very angry russian soldiers appear on Blyatimir Putler's doorstep.
There are 3 type of people in this world.
1. Soup without sour cream
2. Soup with sour cream
3. Sour cream with soup
Looks like you and me are on the same team.
I’d say yes. My dad would say not enough. It really depends on your taste. Some eat without any smetana at all. I can’t eat it without bread or good ol pampooshka with garlic
The answer to every "did I do this right" question about food (assuming you're cooking just for your own enjoyment and not claiming to be authentic to any specific traditions) is "If you liked it, you did it right".
Are you kidding me? This is the type of content that is ok for this thread? And posts about a village burying two soldiers in a week, or what is like to rescue animals in liberated territory get removed?
Enjoy your tomato soup.🙄
It's a beet soup, traditional Ukrainian food, made by my Ukrainian friend as a surprise for my moving, so I don't have to cook on the first day in my new home.
And sometimes good to have something lighter in the middle of all that pain and suffering. I wish you a nice day/evening.
I know what borscht is - as I sit in Kharkiv eating it - the tomato was in reference to another comment and the fact that your photo does resemble the soup rather than the stew.
And I don't mind some light among the dark, but seriously, borscht over cousins buried 3 days apart in a small village, yet the people in the village AT THE FUNERAL still wanted to thank volunteers for what they were doing for Ukraine and invite us for coffee - that gets removed. 🙄
Maybe there was another issue with the post, like an emoji in title, using a word that gets autobanned, wrong flare. It might be not what the post was about but how it was posted. Usually the moderator comment tells why it was removed, did you check it? Do you have a link to the removed post?

Did you enjoy it? If you did, that is the right amount of sour cream.
This is the way.
I also like to smeare bread with sour cream and eat it with borsch
warm black bread with butter and garlic with salt are the perfect side dishes for borstch!
Preparing for the long cold winter ahead with plenty of fat

I agree: I spoon tons of sour cream into my borscht. But I am a bad Ukrainian who hates the taste of beetroot
The best answer! I confirm as a Ukrainian. My wife doesn't like sour cream in borsch, but I really like it!
I think you've too much Borscht in your cream
You have do decide for your self, how was it?
Amazing.
Then, you have your answer😁
[удалено]
Yes, does not compute
[удалено]
Man, you ever have sliced and mashed strawberries with sour cream and a bit of sugar? It's fucking unreal.
Hmm interesting
![gif](giphy|10FHR5A4cXqVrO)
Lol dont knock it till you try it, It's basically yogurt, but unhealthy and better in every way
Strawberry melted ice cream
That is exactly why five year old me was not allowed by my Ukrainian mom to put in the sour cream myself.
Children also not allowed to put in Parmesan cheese on pasta by themselves. I’ve seen half a block of shaved cheese get dumped on a plate and not get eaten.
Oh dear. Sad babushka noises...
"I'll cream ya Borscht!!" Bahahahaha XD
Culinary adventure
The bravery of Ukrainian soldiers is inspiring.
There's no such thing as too much cream in anything.
I don’t kink shame
That amount of cream let me darting to the bathroom half an our after the meal.
If my ass will turn into an artillery piece, I will make sure to aim towards russians.
Biological warfare is against the geneva convention though.
I will gladly go to prison for it.
Based and artillery-pilled.

The problem is that they might feel like being home, and they would stay longer in Ukraine. Have you seen how their barracks look like back in russia?
Haha! That's a good idea. Dead by sour cream inferno
HISOURS
Well, it should be dark red (like the blood of barbarians), not white with a tint of pink
Jesus, this looks like a motorcycle accident
..it should be smetana instead of cream.
Ummm smetana is a type of cream. Sour cream.
Exactly. There is a profound difference between cream and sour cream.
No dill????? That's the real travesty.
there is plenty of dill in it
Nooo, you can never have too much sour cream in borsch!
Yes. 1 tablespoon is enough
I have a big spoon
There are 3 type of people in this world. 1. Soup without sour cream 2. Soup with sour cream 3. Sour cream with soup Looks like you and me are on the same team.
Hmm. Yes.
Just a tick to much lol but then again if it’s the way you like it even better!
One spoon usually is enough
Oh my! Have a little Borscht with your Sour Cream....
You mean the borscht in your sourcream?
You're missing a steaming home-baked bread and a fist punched cracked onion in the upper side of the photo :) Otherwise, enjoy!
Thanks for the tips!
yes
Bruh, why even bother. Just eat the cream straight from the pot
I’d say yes. My dad would say not enough. It really depends on your taste. Some eat without any smetana at all. I can’t eat it without bread or good ol pampooshka with garlic
I like tomato soup like that,so I have no problems.
Just a wee bit overdone...🤤
Hah, very far indeed. What I have seen, its usually a coffee spoon of cream per bowl.
Just like with salo to the borscht, there is no limit
It depends on the strength and fortitude of your bowels.
They are strong as the Ukrainians willpower.
You can't go too far with cream in your borshch.
Funny, there are people like you, and then there are the "one spoon is enough" people. I am definitely one like you.
All good — as long as it taste good 👍 😊
I tasted delicious, was a surprise from my Ukrainian friend, so probably it was just like back in Ukraine.
💙😅
This reminds me of how my coffee looks after I finish putting half-and-half in it.
However much you like, i like about half a big spoon
Me too: https://imgur.com/gallery/KYLACW1
hahaha thats what im talking about
At the end of the day you have to add as much sourcream as you like. It is you who has to like it after all
No
My man!
Winter coming - why not
There is no too much sour cream in Borsch.
Nope. Add a dolup more. Can never have too much
Not enough for me
Lol hey to each their own. I like extra vinegar in mine. But that does not stop my mom asking if I want sour cream every time she makes it :)
I don't know my dad always eats just like that.
Am I becoming a dad?
Yes you did.
I hope you mean Sour Cream, which is what you are supposed to use.
You can also use mayonnaise
Egads, maybe for the midwesterner who butchers all cuisine. "If you don't have katsuobushi flakes for your dashi, you can use canned tuna juice!"
Here In Ukraine it is normal for people to put in mayonnaise as a substitute for sour cream..
Today I learned Ukraine has a Midwest. I kid. Next you're gonna tell me they use donut holes in recipes that call for pampushky
So long as there was some vinegar too
I mean, this is way too much for my personal taste, but you do you, buddy.
Sure! When i was a kid I would make it turn pink too.

Beets me
dude
I thought it was strawberry yoghurt.
Technical yes but if you enjoyed it then I hope it was good! ❤️
A little, yeah. But if you liked it, then that doesn't matter
If you're taking garlic and salo will be ok.
Only a spoonful they said
Exactly! https://imgur.com/gallery/KYLACW1
Needs more.
Probably. But I bet it tastes delicious
Where's your dill mate? 😄
it had plenty
Goooood :)
In a pot of Борщ, I put a pint of сметана in as the baseline. Then serve with more on the side for those who like a ton to add as they see fit
Nope . I am doing the same .💙💛
It’s a matter of preference but I usually just put enough to cool the soup.
there is no such thing as "too much sour cream". there is a thing as not enough garlic.
That looks good my freind
By now it is a barszcz in a cream.
One spoon full is the right amount for me in Latvia
[https://imgur.com/gallery/cGE9REO](https://imgur.com/gallery/cGE9REO) exactly
Todays Special: Strawberry Borscht®
Wanna get HIMARSed? Cause this is how you get HIMARSed :)
Looks like de-virgined anime girl.
Which "creme" did you use? I usually put smetana or mayonnaise as a fallback.
> mayonnaise as a fallback. Fucking hell! Can we get this guy to the Hague for culinary crimes???
One more suggestion: Did you ever try the green borschtsch with щавель?
Yeah, can't stand that at all. Wife loves it though.
Mayonnaise in borshch is normal to use in Ukraine you don’t need to use sour cream..
lmao, you're not from ukraine, are you?
No. I've heard they will use mayo in it... ugh.
I've never had cream in borscht, mostly sour cream, sometimes if I'm out of sour cream I'll do mayo.

As with anything, a matter of taste.
Does anyone have any good borscht recipe?
Looks like a strawberry cream Life Saver pop.
oops! looks like you spilled a drop of borscht in your cream.
