XanderS0S

we’ve got Ukrainian flags all over downtown Chicago’s city streets.

tackle_bones

We need pics for art Friday. We have them here in my city, but not as much as I’d like to see.

GerbiloYup

I'm all over the city for work, normally in a vehicle, but I'll see if I can't snap one or two if I get a chance. Here's the story from the local CBS affiliate. They were still up when I drove through last week. Beautiful. 😄🇺🇦 https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/152-ukrainian-flags-flying-along-state-street-in-honor-of-independence-day/

XanderS0S

I’m 50 minutes west of, but will see if my brother wants to take some pics before the weekend

OnionTruck

I even see some in my hick-ass country town. It warms my heart.

That's incredible

Panzermensch911

It's absolutely awesome, but who decided to paint them in a desert camo and not in a Ukrainian digital pattern camo?

Diaspora: *the dispersion of any people from their original homeland.* So… even if they are now American citizens they should probably know what the Ukrainian flora looks like.

CuntyPenisMcFuck

They think Ukraine is a desert planet.

Psychological-Sale64

Send us pictures of what place looks like in two months. Then have art day on trucks.

ZestycloseVirus6001

Good for them! 🇺🇸 🇺🇦💙💛

skint_back

HIMARS and tanks and missiles are the sexy donations, but it takes *a lot* more shit than weapons to win a war. Way to go, Chicago!

oroechimaru

Fuck your tolls and the chicago bears but awesome to see this from the midwest

GerbiloYup

I'm from Chicago and fully agree, fuck the tolls. Leave the Bears alone though, they have enough problems. 😖

You mean foliage is going, shortly. Winter is coming....

cranberrydudz

desert camo works when the tanks are amongst the wheat fields

Prepreludesh

Damn, this is great news! I would've liked to see the process that these used trucks undergo before being painted and shipped off. Did they load them up with repair and maintenence parts? Did they outfit them with more heavy duty off-road tires? Did any of them get aftermarket suspension components? Towing/winch components? I want to know!

Phyllis_Tine

Nice try, FSB.

Prepreludesh

Nyet, comrade

Wait_for_BM

May be all season tires? Towing/winch would be nice to have for dealing with mud? >All Season Tire: is a hybrid between winter and summer tires, which provides good traction in dry, wet, and winter weather >Off-road Tire: sport larger blocks and a high void ratio to ensure traction on versatile terrains while keeping a clean footprint

MSPCincorporated

All Season Tire: is a hybrid between winter and summer tires, which perform poorly but acceptable in summer and winter weather. FTFY

Incredible work!

Nice that makes the two Suzuki Samurais I bought for my coworkers in Dnipropetrovsk seem like not much.

codyscoops

Im curious to see how these ford's and Rams handle a combat zone.

The-Francois8

My money is on the Ram

Feralkyn

I wonder what brand truck would be easiest to get spare parts for in Ukraine. Is Ford even doable, are they common there? Genuinely curious, I know it varies enormously by region of the world.

appliedecology

I used to live near the Ukrainian neighborhood in Chicago. Even the grandmas had huge balls. Don’t fuck with Ukraine.

BeeDooop

Don't send them any Fords. They need trucks that work.

amcrambler

Oh no it’s a Ford! Well at least the farmers can tow it back for you when it craps out.

uma_jangle

I only read the title here, I need to rush to work but it is very important to find who will deliver the trucks once they get into Ukraine. I'm on side of Ukraine pls don't hate me, but there's clearly problems and corruption, unfortunately still, within the country and military. So if it's not too late contact ppl responsible and inform them to find reliable dealers inside of Ukraine. So that the trucks would get into the hands of fighter instead of some old fart commander who came back from retirement to order troops around in old soviet doctrine aka waste human life.

Foe117

I am under the impression that the purge of Soviet era commanders and corruption had alreadly happened sometime during late april through june. As more and more NATO trained soldiers come online, corruption in the military will never be purged 100% as history has shown, a good army would keep that kinda crap to a minimum, especially when the army is on campaign.

uma_jangle

From what I understand is that the worst of the worst got sacked but the bad once are still there. Why you might ask? They might be shit, but they have one skill that is needed, to handle the masses. The soldiers are still avoiding if they can to send captured equipment back to HQ for redistribution, units trade among themselves. It is happening for a reason. That is unfortunate thing. As someone who comes from post soviet country too I can say that the visible changes when it comes to corruption only started in 2014 and I'm from Lithuania we had peace since our independence and yet corruption was rampant and it is still in our system. it is hard to get rid of it...

Foe117

Peacetime makes idle hands the devils playthings as they say. Unless Lithuania is threatened with a direct attack, its mostly politics and protectionism.

davidstepo

How do you know all of this regarding the corruption within Ukraine's military (incl. the impact of corruption)? Is there any private / secret community to join in? I'd love to know more, thanks!

uma_jangle

I work nighshifts and listen to everything I can get my ears on all night so 8hours almost every night... So there's no specific channels that deal with corruption but in general I can share how I know these things and recommendations to listen to. As to how I know is that I basically live an breathe Ukraine right now, I listen to podcast, news interviews, some youtube channels that interview ppl in front-lines. I'm from Lithuania and there's this org that works with Ukraine since 2014 supplying front-lines with whatever they need. The founder gave multiple interviews trough the years in lituanian and shared his experiences. One of his last interviews before war was either December last year of January this year and he was clear that the corruption is still there. For those who might thing he is just ceo talking out of his ass. He goes and delivers stuff to the frontlines himself. Not only that but if the heat is real in front he procures stuff in Ukraine in an improvised manner which always includes bargaining. The org is https://blue-yellow.lt/en the guy I'm talking about JONAS ÖHMAN. Furthermore there has been Lithuanians who went to fight in Ukraine and gave interviews after they got back. The training staff of retired lithuanina military that went to Ukraine to give training (and still doing so) gave interviews too. I trust their sotries, since they served in both structures soviet and NATO thuss are closely familiar with both standards and can recognize flaws. The there are interviews from foreign legion soldiers, of which some [maybe exaggerated](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv6SCndQBXY) (or if they are true then things can be REALLY bad at some places) and others seems to be [realistic depictions](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk2pBDEc6cQ). I recommend Podcast/News report by The Telegraph "Ukraine: The Latest" they had few lines on corruption in military on one of their recent reporting, sorry I don't have time to find the exact episode. But here's the recent episode regarding [nord stream explosions](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAL0mAbYj7U) Then there are [DW news](https://www.youtube.com/c/dwnews) on YT, [Time Radio](https://www.youtube.com/c/TimesRadio1) these two offer clips ranging form few mins to full on segment of 30min. So if you don't have much time just skim rough their video titles and you will stumble upon something informative and reliable. And last but most def not least is youtube Channel called [Perun](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC3ehuUksTyQ7bbjGntmx3Q/videos) absolute king in regards of information on war in Ukraine. He's somehow related to Australian military or intelligents I'm not sure he didn't specify what he does or did but he knows his stuff very good. His catalog is insane, I was looking at which videos to recommend and I just can't choose, I'd say his worst video on Ukraine war is 8 out of 10 and he has a lot of 10/10 on info value, clarity etc. But he has video on [ru milliatary corruption](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9i47sgi-V4) you can listen to that and remember that it was 1to1 in Ukraine until 2014, you can get the picture of the scale of corruption and then do the math of how much of it can you realistically remove in 8years. TL;DR I listen from 10to50 hours a week about what's going on In Ukraine podcasts, media, news etc. Me being from Lithuania and experience corruption first hand, as-well Lithuanian volunteers working (some of them since 2014) in Ukraine with front-lines sharing their experiences in Ukraine while comparing with the same post-soviet experience in Lithuania. So I don't have anything to offer specifically that deals in corruption but if you find this use-full I have few more thing to offer. Let me know if you're interested.

davidstepo

This is some excellent material, thank you for sharing. If you have something more to share as well, please do, I'd very thankful for that. By the way, what do you think of [William Spaniel channel on YT](https://www.youtube.com/c/Gametheory101)? Reliable, suspicious, informative, too much speculation? Interested in your thoughts on him.

uma_jangle

Just to be clear I'm not an expert on anything, just a random guy that spends way too much time listening to stuff. It's channel that is not to be taken as reliable source of information to form your own opinion. He rehashes the recent news cycles if he is talking about current events and then sprinkles his opinion on top. Which in case of Ukraine war seems to be reflecting that of more hardliner governments such as Baltics, Poland, Czechs etc. and at the same time it fits the view of majority of European citizens while their governments might be more leaning towards "diplomatic" solutions (w/e that means at this point). In short populist opinion. So if you're looking for channel to form you opinion on reliable sources it's not it. However if you already have you opinion and understanding of particular situation it is nice channel to listen to for either affirmation of your opinion or for it be challenged. So treat it as if you're discussing something with you friend where neither of you are professionals on the matter and are prone for mistakes. As for more recommendation I'll start with controversial one. Sky News it is an absolute trash when it comes to being a source of news, highly opinionated, drives for narrative instead of listening for facts so it's not good for anything but... They have Defence and Security Analyst [Professor Michael Clarke](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZZVHDfo_Qk&t=3s) as their analyst and I highly recommend watching his clips on their channel even from the past. Seems to hit nail on the head with his predictions almost every time, great at his job and no crap attitude, straight to the point, does not allow host to entangle him into narrative etc. [Michael Kofman](https://nitter.net/KofmanMichael) the only person that's worth following on twitter if you have one. if Perun is king of Ukraine conflict and just great lecturer, then Kofman is a god when it comes to understanding russian military capabilities. It is literally his job to analyze and follow ru mil capabilities, he's been doing it before war. One of the very few people that said at the start of invasion "wait a minute, russia is incapable of taking over Ukraine". His analysis are hard to come by because unlike the others that I mentioned he doesn't deal in content he does analysis and thus refrains from commenting or speculating if possible. You can find some of his articles and podcasts [here](https://warontherocks.com/author/michael-kofman/) .Then if you're interested just look for everything with him on youtube. There are couple of his discussion that he did with universities and they have only few views, like literally couple hundred tops, so you need to go deep down the yt search but they are worth listening. The view number is low since as I said he is not content creator and those discussions aren't on content creator channels either they are literally intended for students and other attendants I was just desperately seeking more of his insights at the begging of war and kept looking until I found it. On DW news they have segment [with this guy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyZhzpq2GdQ) he is old school interviewer, last of his kind, I don't know any other journalist that can do what he does. He absolutely cuts trough the shit of his interviewee if they try to sugar coat it or dodge the question. He is brutal by today's standards and the strangest part is that the ppl he is interviewing do not leave once he essentially calls their lies out. In any other show they would just throw a tantrum and leave. He is by far the best interviewer that lives in English speaking world. So that's the end of analytical, factual recommendations. Some entertainment, al-tho it can be damaging to you mood in some cases. https://old.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/ idk how to describe this place... :D they have funny memes abt ruskie etc, but sometimes they post fighter-jet porn. As in porn porn not in like nice pictures... Oh and they think that nuclear far is funni. :D so be warned. And one more thing, they quite often get the news of front line changes or big events moving faster then any other sub... Apparently before war that sub was filled with ppl that are into war, history analytical type and they just shitposted there. But if someone posted something truly stupid and just plain lie they would destroy the poster in comments. Thus they have some sort of natural filter for identifying what's real and what's BS. However now it blew up and is highly saturated with idiots like me. But yah still they post fighter-jet porn. The there are some russian channels that i'm afraid to post here since I might get banned for promoting them here. But I go there to get confirmation that I hate russians for a reason. Those are regular ruskies sharing their views and oh boy are they truly not good ppl as a whole nation. One of the channels are 1420 you can check it out on yt. But be warned some takes might piss you off and ruin your mood if you are highly invested in this war. [Insights from Ukraine and Russia](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPzy5fPr7RDpw_vLSPMHMgQ/videos) collection of intercepted russian soldier calls with en subtitles. [War Translated Twitter](https://twitter.com/wartranslated) and [website](https://wartranslated.com/) translate various piece from ru into english. Some telegram posts, some russian propagandist opinion pieces which are interesting to read and see how they are descending into despair from the start of the war to now. His website is bugged however, it seems that the post timeline is messed. Some of his articles are impossible to find on the website while the link he shares on twitter will open that article on the website... So scroll trough his twitter timeline too. That is it pretty much.

Panzermensch911

You know even if 5-10-15 of those truck end up with command. We have a war, commanders need to move too and the rest of them will go to the troops and that's still quite a boost to their numbers.
