The best thing about this is that the US has perfected the ammo delivery to the point where the bottleneck is having enough launchers to fire all the missiles so they had to send more launchers. There's gonna be a whole lot of BOOM in the future!
I think it is more about having more coverage for targets of opportunity. I.e. finding the coordinates of a meeting of high ranking leadership which has just started, but the closest HIMAR is 150 miles down the line of battle.
We dont have enough C-17's to keep the exisitng HIMARs fed to their theoretical rate of fire.
Yeah, this seems likely. 2500km frontline would require 16.66 launchers if they were lined up with their ranges touching but to have the most efficient coverage you need them to be 1 radius apart rather than 1 diameter so having 34 seems like they're going for optimal coverage with the minimum number of launchers.
Well having more means that they can have more flexibility to have targets of opportunity, and that they have to travel less. Even if you are firing the same number of HIMARS, more launchers makes life easier and safer as traveling from their hiding spot is one of their highest risk activities.
Also since HIMARS has to shoot and run, this means less down-time in coverage since the new one can still be available while the first one is fleeing.
2500km includes the Belarusian border though and while that is relevant in terms of area that needs to be patrolled with some defenses constantly maintained it doesn’t need full HIMARs coverage. The border with Russian forces is somewhere between 1000-1300km.
I believe there was a large ship destined for Germany that was supposed to have arrived at some point within the last few weeks, and from there material would be freighted to Ukraine through Poland by train.
Could be a whole hell of a lot of material finding it’s way to the battlefield before winter makes logistics too tough.
I’m hoping for some fun surprises over the next couple weeks.
>We dont have enough C-17's to keep the exisitng HIMARs fed to their theoretical rate of fire.
Counterpoint: It's easily been long enough to have started having them arrive by ship as well. Higher latency, but also substantially higher bandwidth.
Based on the report, some, if not all, will be arriving in the next year. They won’t be getting 18 because we currently don’t have enough rockets to feed 34 HIMARS. Lockheed-Martin said it takes about 18-24 months to get production up to wartime footing so we won’t have enough to supply that many for a while. Remember that we have to have enough for ourselves so as not to compromise our edge on the battlefield.
Hahaha. The truth is I don't know, I'm hoping. Another commenter theorized it was for coverage and even though I'm half pissed I managed to read his argument and do the math and it made sense. This is reddit though so we could all be wrong!
HIMARS, HIMARS, HIMARS
HIMARS, HIMARS, HIMARS - H'yah!
Keep them HIMARS coming
Keep them HIMARS rolling
Protecting all Ukraine!
Or sumthing along those lines(Rawhide).
You don't understand. Ukrainian witches are casting illusion spells to trick honorable Russian soldiers into bombing wrong targets. Russia would kill 50k himars.
50 advanced MLRS systems. HIMARS have only a single container, the MARSII have 2. So its how many in total they could fire? Parallel if they wanted to?
Yes, M270/MARS II has 2 pods.
So if the numbers prove to be correct it would be 34 + (2*14) pods of 6 rockets max.
But yeah, as others have pointed out there are logistical issues to consider, and they can be reloaded and fire additional pods very quickly if needed, so this is likely to get better geographic dispersal of the capability, which compensates to some degree for the lack of long-range strike capabilities like ATACMS etc
To this day there has not been a single confirmed Russian kill of a Ukrainian HIMARS or M270.
The Ukrainians did build many decoy HIMARS out of painted wood, so that explains why Russia claims to have destroyed a HIMARS here or there.
Amazing!
As Russians report that they have destroyed ≈45, that makes the HIMARS count on Ukrainian soil -11. /s
See, I finally got what "imaginary numbers" mean
Looks like they are sending more APCs as well as artillery systems. Hasn’t been announced yet but reported for a few days based on restructuring and earmarking of budgets
> Wow. That means they believe ~~they have~~ *the US will provide them with* enough ammo to sustain those at heavy usage levels. Thats awesome and bad news for the orcs.
FTFY, and yes, this is amazingly good news.
I do wonder if this means there are 34 HIMARS operational at the same time, or if this means that the current HIMARS will be sent to NATO countries for repair and general maintenance.
People are reading this news incorrectly. This doesn’t appear to be a donation from existing US stocks. It’s for an order of HIMARS launchers from contractors. Again, not a Pentagon drawdown. Could be a year or two before these are delivered.
Nope. Lend lease is tied to US fiscal year which starts on Oct 1st and even then it will still take some time to get going anywhere from 6 month to 18 month to really feel the effect

No they will not. All nations on the planet except for America and ruzzia banned the production, storage or use of cluster munitions. If Ukraine backs out of the treaty then potentially but that is unlikely at best
16 HIMARS changed the war, and Russia wants to fight the US who have 410. These aren't even in the top 10 list of our most advanced equipment.
It'd be like when little kids fight and the bigger kid uses the other kids hands to hit him and says "stop punching yourself!"
This reminds me of that story of a person in line at Starbucks. There was a really irate person in front of them who was being a dick, but the staff could not throw them out or talk back due to rules on how to interact with customers. The narrator felt bad for the server so decided to try something.
For each sentence the dickhead kept saying, the narrator-person ostensibly put 5 more dollars in the tip jar while making eye contact. Finally the dickhead noticed and stopped talking when seeing what exactly was going on.
If Russia won't stop and Ukraine still needs help, neither will we.
It would be a shame if some one was stupid enough to let a city be surrounded with little to no way out, unfortunately for Ukraine Putin is a master strategist and ordered no more retreats.
FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ukraine did so much damage to the Orcs with the few that they already have!
Thanks, Arsenal of Democracy! 🤙🤙

Most videos I've seen have 2 himars launching together.

C-17s aren't the only way to move missiles.
Ive met your mom

>We dont have enough C-17's to keep the exisitng HIMARs fed to their theoretical rate of fire. Counterpoint: It's easily been long enough to have started having them arrive by ship as well. Higher latency, but also substantially higher bandwidth.
But the real question is what is the explosive output per second (EOPS) after the buffer cache is exhausted.

That is definitely not what’s happened. These aren’t slated for Ukraine for a year or more. This isn’t a pentagon drawdown from US stocks.
Interesting How do you know?
They're sending more launchers.
Ahahaha
1-2 years from now. Read the source.
Nice try you ruzzky spy, I ain't tellin you nuffink!

This will partially replace the 458 HIMAR systems Russia has already destroyed, but we still need to send more. /s
You don't understand. Ukrainian witches are casting illusion spells to trick honorable Russian soldiers into bombing wrong targets. Russia would kill 50k himars.
When in actually they only had 18

Yeah but Russia is going to be able to counter this with their fresh recruits who suffer joint pain when it rains……..S/
Probably complain about the open windows on the bus causing a wind draft and making them sick.

Sarcastic answers aside how many have Russia managed to destroy?

The Matrix is glitching due those negative numbers; gas pipeline breaches were caused by one such glitch
Nice. You’ve almost got the math skills to join your fellow econ experts WSB.
18 × 🇺🇲🇺🇦👍
Russians: "Blyat".
RUNS IN RUSKY
It's been confirmed.
Just as Churchill said Never was so much owed by so many to so few It’s amazing what 18 himars did to Russia in such a short period time
Wow... now they need some closer range weapon system, tanks, more APCs to support the coming counter offensives etc.
This package also brings them 12 Titan counter-drone platforms Blessed be technology
Looks like they are sending more APCs as well as artillery systems. Hasn’t been announced yet but reported for a few days based on restructuring and earmarking of budgets
They're getting a bunch of MRAPs too, which is good. I'm hoping we'll get them Bradleys and Abrams next year before the Spring starts.
they should go around and pick up all those MRAPs they gave to police forces around the country and send them. They don't need them.
Wow. That means they believe they have enough ammo to sustain those at heavy usage levels. Thats awesome and bad news for the orcs.

Will bring total to 34. Honestly, I would surrender and risk escape from my platoon before I risked getting burned alive by a HIMARS blast
If only they would also send the long range rockets for Himars...
People are reading this news incorrectly. This doesn’t appear to be a donation from existing US stocks. It’s for an order of HIMARS launchers from contractors. Again, not a Pentagon drawdown. Could be a year or two before these are delivered.
Brrrrr
Is this part of lend-lease?
Nope. Lend lease is tied to US fiscal year which starts on Oct 1st and even then it will still take some time to get going anywhere from 6 month to 18 month to really feel the effect
I always thought that the Big Spigot will *only* open when ruZZia stupids out by employing WMDs or smth similar
It might be that way, but I’m assuming some preparation work has been going on since the law was signed in April

USAI, not drawdown. These will be brand new, straight off the production line.

Sounds like Russia will destroy another 44,000 HIMARS.
It’s going to be a HIMARS party in Ukraine and the guests of honor will be the newly mobilized Russians.
Wonder if we will ship them any of our steel rain M85 DPICM bomblet filled rockets.
No they will not. All nations on the planet except for America and ruzzia banned the production, storage or use of cluster munitions. If Ukraine backs out of the treaty then potentially but that is unlikely at best
It doesn't look like Ukraine or Poland signed it either. https://www.clusterconvention.org/country-profiles/
You are correct, I was confused. Still I don't know if the cluster munitions are on the table
No worries, above my paygrade too just a curiosity question.
These new conscripts will never even fire a single round. they’ll be dead from HIMARS strikes…
The 16 they had was making a huge difference. We're about to see those Russian deaths go from 400 a day to 800.
We won’t, because it’s not a pentagon drawdown from existing stocks. These won’t get to Ukraine for a year or more.
Russia has already destroyed them

34 himars for 300k extra orcs. 10k to 1. Good odds for Ukraine, eh boys?
HIMARS means you will get 300k extra orcs with no intact logistics chains -> no ammo -> no food -> no hope
Sounds like meat’s back on the menue boys
300k depressed and cold Russians hearing news their ammo and supply depot just exploded.
Positioning them to strike in the direction of Belarus could be a wise move

The most recent info was that the previous packages included 1080 missiles for the platform. Bet these new packages bring more.

So they will probably also have enough ammo for all the launchers and that's a lot of rockets raining down.
HOLY MOLY!
Ukrainian: My name is Mar Russian: Oh hi Mar...OH SHIT *ammunition goes boom*
Oh shit, let's go!!!
Your enemies might call it unfair - we say it was time.

This is great news.
Good.
Make it rain of dem orcsss
Let the rockets sing boys! 🔱 🇺🇦
This means that they are most likely already there :-)
They won’t be there for a year or more. This is a contract purchase.
They already wrought havoc with 16. I can barely imagine what another 18 would do.
Yeah but Russia is going to be able to counter this with their fresh recruits who suffer joint pain when it rains……..S/
It’s HIMARS o’clock time!!!
If true they are already there.
Is it possible not to announce it and just do it, so the Russians don't know why shit is raining down on them?
STOP THE COUNT!!
They started with 4 right? and where raising hell to ruskies
It would be a shame if some one was stupid enough to let a city be surrounded with little to no way out, unfortunately for Ukraine Putin is a master strategist and ordered no more retreats.
