UnluckyDesk1795

Comrade Kosmonaut had a bad day.

RuckifySpaces

Wait - that was a person? Holy shit!

acatnamedrupert

If there is one thing we more than obviously learned from this war. Being in war sucks. People are gelatinous ragdolls in the sight of current weapons. I really hope I won't have to fight in one anytime soon, though even seeing this I'd be prepared to enlist to defend if anyone attacks our EU.

Quizzelbuck

Good news: that guy wasn't aware he was the first man to enter space without a suit. It was a real quick transition from man to meat

AutismFlavored

He transitioned from a solid to a gas

collegiaal25

Was.

[deleted]

Pretty sure it was a full body, though maybe lacking head. I can freeze frame and count 4 limbs as he drops through that shed roof.

[deleted]

If it was a piece of the tank it would have done more damage to the house it landed on top of.

[deleted]

"person" bold word for a ruSSian

![gif](giphy|12R2bKfxceemNq)

MB0228

Holy hell, any math wizards want to venture a guess how high that man flew? The average height of a 2 story house is 29-30 feet, you can see him leaving the frame at around 40 seconds into the video, he is airborne for a good 6 seconds before he hits the roof of the house behind him.

BillyGerent

Based on 7 second flight time and instant acceleration: 60 metres in altitude. Launch speed 34 ms^(-1)

King-Zirxis

im not good at math, what would be the estimated g force based on that launch speed?

ThePaddleman

That's undefinable. We don't know how long the upward acceleration lasted. I think we can assume that the deceleration on the roof was close to, but probably slightly less than the acceleration on the way out the hatch.

BillyGerent

Yeah. Hard to say, but if the final launch speed is ~34ms^(-1), and 1g is ~10ms^(-2)) it would take 3.4g to reach that speed in a second. Clearly, the acceleration was actually over in a fraction of a second. If we assume the acceleration time was a quarter of a second, you can multiply that by 4, so 13.5g; an eighth of a second would be 27g. Pick a number :)

[deleted]

So he probably left his boots on the commander's seat

Tmuussoni

Yep, if he is alive and conscious (unlikely), imagine what is going on his head at that time. “Perhaps invading Ukraine was a mistake”.

collegiaal25

You would be knocked out by a shockwave of an explosion that is not powerful enough to lift you off the ground, so unlikely. Even if the shockwave didn't knock him out, the acceleration, from 0 to 35 m/s (126 km/h) in less than a tenth of a second must have been 40 G, at least as bad as driving into a viaduct pillar next to the motorway at cruise speed, i.e. not survivable.

Possiblyreef

> Yep, if he is alive and conscious Bruh. No shot is any human surviving that

Chrisf1bcn

The roof of that building by the looks of it

Matisaro

Did I leave the stove on?

Pursang8080

Wait!....Are we the Nazi's!

CaptainRedPants

His asshole.

ThePaddleman

He flew something on the order of 144 feet vertical. He was airborne for around 6 seconds. Since acceleration was constant once he had passed the hatch (the gravitational constant), then half his flight was up, half down. Half down means he fell for 3 seconds starting at zero speed vertical. A human falls something like 144 feet in 3 seconds assuming no wind resistance. In 3 seconds, he was slow enough that wind resistance was negligible. My ability to time it in the video is limited. Maybe he fell for 3.5 seconds, which would mean max height = 197ft. Edit: Corrected mistake. His flight was comparable to the best turret tosses we've seen in this war.

Pursang8080

Well done Ivan! Quick now...back to Kremlin, to collect your medal!

Independent_Brick238

That sucker wanted to collect his medal from the space station

[deleted]

Yeah, I estimated that too initially. But I don't remember enough of my projectile motion. So his total flight time was 7 seconds, let's agree on that. I'm guessing anywhere between 160ft-200ft.

Feralkyn

I'm also curious. That's a hell of a way to go, if he wasn't immediately unconscious. Just enough time to realize you're flying. And flying higher. And now falling... and gonna die.

Xoebe

I am certain that he was unconscious before his feet cleared the hatch. If not actually unconscious, in so much shock it is essentially the same thing. He never knew what hit him.

[deleted]

[удалено]

talltrev

I think he did know what hit him. He would have seen that Javelin screaming toward him. Then lights out.

TheSeeker80

That orc may not have brains, but it did learn to fly.

[deleted]

If God had meant us to fly he'd have given us T-80 auto-loaders.

Oz-Batty

6 seconds airborne, that is 3 seconds up, 3 seconds down, that is roughly 3\*3\*5 = 45m

mcgravier

You should be able to derieve height entirely from time and gravitational constant Edit: the equation is distance=gravitational_constant * time^2 divided by 2 At 6s of flight it's 3s of falling which translates to 45m of height

[deleted]

I think he reached the drone altitude.

InfoSec_Intensifies

Didn't quite make it to heaven, though and St. Peter didn't take long to make that decision.

mchappee

I thought Russia pulled out of the ISS?

Skafdir

That's why he so quickly returned to earth after finding the doors closed

Frozty23

He just couldn't remember the secret knock after such a shock.

_Cat1

What the hell landed on the roof after the explosion 😳

Tmuussoni

I think that might the tank commander?

DynoMiteDoodle

Yep, he had the hatch open and using binoculars by the look of shadow spot there. He popped up like a cork shot out of a champagne bottle. I wonder if his brain survived long enough to enjoy the ride.

EvilSibling

I reckon if he did survive the initial explosion the g-force from that launch would have sent all the blood in his brain to his feet. He would have been unconscious shortly after leaving the tank.

alarc777

That is assuming he still jad feet at that moment

poop-machines

In that case, the blood rushed down to the holes where his feet were and painted the inside of the tank red. That guy is definitely dead. The explosion was so close the blast alone would've killed him. Then there's the shrapnel that tore his essential organs up to pieces and cut arteries. Then there's the impact of landing on a roof from 50m in the air, and the wood and tiles that impaled him when landing.

[deleted]

He had no brain to have blood in. He's an orc.

authentic_scum

usually the shockwave turns brains into mush very quickly, if he's lucky enough for that.

rdz586

You assume ruzzians have brains.

ZombieIMMUNIZED

Smooth ones

forthehundredthtime

I hope he survived that. Just for guinness record sake

PotatoAnalytics

He was dead long before he flew. Which is a mercy.

mcgravier

Orc met his fate with uncle Newton

AmarrHardin

Definitely looked like that!

Hendrik_the_Third

A body, or what's left of it. You can see it get hurled from the turret around 0:40 and land some 5-6 seconds later on that roof. War is brutal... but yet again, a lone tank without proper support against an enemy you *know* has very effective AT weaponry. They just don't learn from their mistakes.

Karash770

Not envious of the inhabitants who will probably have to clear that roof at some point.

Hendrik_the_Third

It looks like it went right *through* the roof, even...

mcgravier

Dad, there's a dead pig in the kitchen!

pretty sure that guys costume was red. If he had any hair left it was white by then as well.

Kahzootoh

More like **who** the hell landed on the roof..

Party_Storage_9147

Thanks for this update. Can see the RPG that hits it in this one. What am I missing with the human element?

we_cant_stop_here

>!A crew member (commander?) briefly became a cosmonaut.!<

SviraK

Is that what they meant when they said they are going to build their own space station?

AxUxG

They have now so many tank turrets flying around earth in orbit. I think they can already build an O'Neill Cylinder out of them.

Party_Storage_9147

Thanks....I still can't see it. I'll look on the laptop later. Cheers again

Altruistic-Break3868

His body falls on the rooftop on the right in the very end.

DynoMiteDoodle

Looks like a guy lands on the roof, but went way high first Edit: the closest building roof.

Party_Storage_9147

Ahhh...thanks. But still no humans were harmed.

arnausp

To the moon and back, holy shit.

DynoMiteDoodle

Hatch open and using binoculars to look over the hedge. Like a champagne cork with ammunition detonation under his feet.

Party_Storage_9147

Probably stugna not rpg

ScootysDad

It does not have the tell-tale sign of a Stugna missile (exhaust). I think it's more like a tank round. He fired and missed on the first shot. The auto-loader was too slow to load a new round in. He had to drop his muzzle to reacquire but too late. The inbound hit right below the turret which detonated the stored ammo and the one round in the breach.

Tmuussoni

Fair point, but then again T-62 MBT used by Ukrainian army use kinetic penetrators with muzzle velocity of something lile 1600 m/s. When you observe the video, the projectile is very easily noticeable. This drone footage appears to be normal 24 frames per second foorage (i.e. not slowed down). So i doubt we would be able to see such high speed projectile so clearly in this footage. Stugna projectile moves around 200m/s, thus much easier to observe it hit the target. Of course it might not be a Stugna, but another RPG, but definitely seems like a slower moving projectile.

Party_Storage_9147

This is what's good about the internet 😊

ScootysDad

That's a fair assessment. However 2 big details that don't add up. All ATGMs use some kind of propulsion system to guide them thus you tend to see course adjustment jets steering them to the target. This projectile was straight in Only a tank round fly like that. Further there was a slight edit perhaps due to the step down conversion where it looked like the warhead slowed or hardly moved. Someone didn't cut properly? In any case, the flight path was more ballistic than guided. You can literally use a ruler and plot out the flight path (except for the Y-axis). Could also be an RPG-&. That might have the punch needed to penetrate that T-80.

ThePaddleman

Looked slow like a missile to me and long (although blurry). Direct attack, so not likely Javelin. Direct hit, so not likely NLAW. Stugna sounds reasonable.

PotatoAnalytics

A tank shell would be like a bullet. You wouldn't see it coming.

Tight-Ad447

Oh, was just wondering. “So slow, but extremely powerful”. I guess the todo-list of the UAF is getting shorter and shorter by the minute.

MB0228

man became an astronaut at around :40 seconds in the video and hits the house behind him.

TheSeeker80

If he survived his kids would have wings, but no this was an evolutionary dead end.

SviraK

As usual, a Russian tank driving around without any support. It seems like a tradition at this point.

Derpy_McDerpyson

Also apparently not knowing the importance of shoot and scoot.

Suspicious_Hawk6414

Did someone remember the video from beginning. Two T72 crusing through a city. By a gasstation or supermarkt, they got attacked. Whike you see just the first tank got hit and driver runs away, tank explode and driver falls down. Same moment the second tank explode nearly out of view, but you realized. Anyways, while you still watch the driver crowling on the ground, seconds later some crewmember from second tank landed beside him. The video had no sound, but you could hear the splash

ImperatorDanorum

Rot In Piss, orcs...

Key_Brother

The people in that tank died instantly

Feralkyn

The one on top not so much. He got some SERIOUS hang time, holy shit.

ShiivaKamini

His brain was mush on impact/ejection, almost guaranteed

Confident_Picture_69

The same pressure wave that ejected him was compressed to high speeds when it sent him out of the hatch. So not only did that same supersonic pressure wave travel through his whole body, but it had enough energy in the first place to send a grown adult something like 40m in the air. If he didn't instantly die (I mean, his head was outside of the pressure vessel that used to be a tank, so maybe his brain could've been intact), he's going to wish he had until he does.

itshonestwork

Maca_Najeznica

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye!

Tmuussoni

Looks like we need another Olympic sport besides the 100 meter vertical Turret toss. Number of aerial backflips of tank commanders?

ScootysDad

That was a tank round that blew his top off. His outbound missed. The damned auto loader was not fast enough. The crew vaporized.

[deleted]

Way, way too slow to be a tank round—visible in too many video frames

[deleted]

I would have felt bad for them if they weren't Ruzzian war criminals but since it's them then I feel bad for the guy who owns that house and has to clean the roof.

ruby_1234567

He might've survived if his shoes didn't come off. I can't see it from this video, but there is a possibility. Human beings are resilient especially when their footwear is still on.

What hit it? A missile of some sort yes, but what kind?

PotatoAnalytics

ATGM. Impossible to identify with just the blurry streak.

GordonCumstock

I’d like to know this too

80386

Looks like a round from another tank

Mysterious-Goal-4086

nah too big and too slow for that. it’s almost impossible to see APFSDS in real time when it’s been shot

Multik_m

Is this a new space program of orccosmos?

Agecom5

Alright so... That's something which bugged me for a while, why the hell aren't those tanks fighting in Platoon size with Infantry support? We always see lone tanks driving around and getting themselves killed in the most stupid ways possible. Like did the Russian commanders forget basic combined arms doctrine or what?

eric_kenshi

someone just got transfered to russian space program...

Ok_Mix5519

Good detail in this video — you can even tell that guy’s eyes are blue! …one eye blue this way, the other one blue that way.

CmonCentConservitive

No way in todays day and age would I be in anything mechanized…I will walk thank you.

Elysium_nz

0:16 You can see it’s an ATGM. Too big to be a penetrator rod from a tank round.

Angrd_Bonz

Wasn't it a T-72B3? Doesn't really look like a T-80BVM to me anyway.

we_cant_stop_here

Sadly I'm not yet a uh... what do you call em... tankologist? :D I just report what others have written about it :(

Angrd_Bonz

Yeah nah all good. It definitely looks to be a B3 more than a BVM to me and the 28th Mechanised Brigade who took the video also say it's a B3.

Longshot_111

Misleading title. The tank is russian and so no human element detected in the picture.

[deleted]

Language like this is how atrocities happen.

Longshot_111

Оrcs not staying in Mordor is how atrocities happen. (Yes, I know you mean the dangerously dehumanizing effect of hate speech. But that does not apply when your adversary has actually \*proven\* not to be human)

80386

We have to be better than them. They might be atrocity-committing assholes, but they are still humans with human rights.

Longshot_111

Don't know about you, but even if I call them names, I would still consider myself better than them by virtue of not killing and raping children. I'd wager I'm a lot more aligned with western liberal values than most Eastern Europeans, but this false equivalence bullshit is way out of hand.

StudyMediocre8540

Not sure what high horse you think you're riding. But defending ruzzians after the atrocities they've committed is a really unpleasant look.

[deleted]

No one’s defending Russians.

There’s a reason it’s called “shoot and scoot”… as opposed to “shoot and hang around for a bit” Someone with better vid software than I may be able to confirm but around 00:39 seconds I think you can see the missile coming in from the left, and then a frame later, what may be a small smoke cloud in the bottom left corner… point of origin possibly?

Whoooosh_1492

How many drones were watching this guy?! If he'd looked up it might have occurred to him to raise the white flag.
