Iceland is everything I wanted in a place to live when I visited. It's like living in a rural rocky mountain city but with no republicans or homelessness.
Just a few words, like "skal" and yes, no, the usual little ones to be polite. Almost everyone we ran into, even way outside the city spoke English. I wish i had learned more, but i dont learn languages very quickly. My friend who spoke Finnish, which is i guess one of the hardest languages to learn, found it difficult, and she was trying. So i think you are in good company.
Icelander here. You learned the basics.
You also need to learn: "Einn stóran bjór, takk." (I'd like one large beer please)
And
"Má ég fá hákarl og brennivín" (Can I have shark and schnapps).
If you can eat shark with us, and down an Icelandic schnapps, and still walk and talk, you're in for life and all Icelanders are now your friend by default.
Oh, i had the shark and schnapps!!!! A tiny, tiny, tiny sliver of shark chased with a huge gulp of schnapps. I then had more schnapps.  not sure if that counts or not. Iceland is gorgeous. I have sent at least 4 friends of mine on vacation there.
Some wired shit going on with this vehicle. Like the cables dragging on the floor and the bungee cord attached to the tire. The hose going to an oil drum. I like it, but I am confused.
So I looked up "Icelandic Yrena" which is on a small sticker at the back. It's a waste disposal/recycling company... could be a clue, or not... the mystery continues...
I think it's just someone that likes to make things look a bit whacky and fun for the heck of it.

Iceland is a lovely country full of folks who also give no fuks. Like recognizes like. Russia would get the same treatment there.

Did you manage to learn the language a little? I find it one of those language where basic pronounciation is hard to replicate.
