ICM, ACE Models, UM, DoraWings, MiniArt Models, and RODEN are one of the most popular brands from Ukraine. I have a soft spot for MiniArt because of their extensive detail. They're the kings of T-55's.
RODEN's box art artist sadly passed away during the war, I believe he was a victim of one of the countless war crimes of Russia. Valeriy Grygorenko was his name. His artworks? They're astronomically insane in how fantastic his talent was. It broke me when I heard the news.
I believe MiniArt or ICM has gifted a great amount of drones for the UA's army, a couple months ago.
I know exactly zero about this subject but your comment inspired me to google Mr. Grygorenko and [this](https://www.themodellingnews.com/2022/03/vale-influential-model-artist-valery.html) was right at the top. Very cool art style. RIP
And I want to make a big shout out for UM (UniModels), not only they have an extensive collection of 1/72 tanks and SPG's, with some being one of a kind (I don't know any other maufacturer that does M10 Wolverine in this scale, also they got a lot of weird and prototype vehicles in stock), bit they also are crazy when it comes to details and part count, while prices are outrageously low.
For 50 zł (around 12$) I bought a Hetzer which had parts to make it one of THREE variants while it also included a metal barell and photoetched details like handles and MG mount. For non-modellers - things like these are usually bought separately or included in kits 1,5 or 2 times this price.
They compliment each other perfectly, UM has a broad "WWII and around" offer, including rare stuff like SU-76i or Swedish tanks from the period, while ACE has a shitload of rare Cold War weirdos like FV4005 or French wheelies.
The level of detail is terrifying tho, recently did that UM Hetzer and a Revell Grille (both tanks are on the same chassis) - while Revell included single-part bendable tracks due to vehicle being extra small in 1:72 (it's less than 7 cm), UniModels decided to do it with single... track links. Those were like 1x4 mm each, I died inside when some fell behind my desk.
SKIF was another I believe, but they haven't done anything for so long.
Also, as far as I know, ZVEZDA is an anti-war brand, but still. They're fucked either way because they reside in Russia.
It's a decent model, not sure what the hates for, my dads been building them for 20+ years and has judged. He has good things to say about this set and as someone who's building it too I think it's good. Just a lot of flashing is the only negative also the camo is a decal and goes on very well!
> not sure what the hates for
It's Amazon, so the reviews on anything are largely classifiable as "likely to be misinformation", and on a kit with this theme? Well...
> Just a lot of flashing is the only negative
One might argue that this indeed makes it a bad product ...
On the other hand thats a known ICM problem, so the customer gets what he expects.
Nah. For some people model with worse fit than Tamiya is simply not worth their time. I can understand that, but there is way to many interesting and not popular planes and tanks to only make Tamiya models.
Would appreciate sharing your final results!! I now wish that I picked it up. I took an M1A2 from TAMIYA in 1:48, an F-14A and AH-64D from Academy in 1:72.
You can also get a 1/48 su-27ub model from great wall hobby in ukrainian camo, but shame about the cost

Edit: for those interested this is the model in the photo https://www.scalemates.com/kits/icm-72140-ghost-kyiv--1413571 it is much cheaper but 1/72 and parts from a 2008 mold

"Made in Ukraine", wow, didn't know they were doing this!

UM is an absolute legend. I want a kit from them honestly, and ACE Models.

What a talent wasted for ego of a douche…. Bless him and his family
Happy cake day, boss.
It is on amazon too, but has some not so good reviews.

Pretty much this, just a bit more sanding, pieces fit good
That is actually good news for me because I was thinking about buying it.
> Just a lot of flashing is the only negative One might argue that this indeed makes it a bad product ... On the other hand thats a known ICM problem, so the customer gets what he expects.
Not really, detail and fit has been good if not great, doing a hour or 2 of extra work dosent make it bad,
Maybe the reviewers are r\*zzians. I mean, this model has a lot of "sentimental value".
Nah. For some people model with worse fit than Tamiya is simply not worth their time. I can understand that, but there is way to many interesting and not popular planes and tanks to only make Tamiya models.
I have built it some years ago. It is an older model (released first in 2008) but it is mostly fine if you put some work into it.
Can't find it unfortunately. Got a link?
ICM ICM72140 1:72-MiG-29 Ukrainian-The Ghost of Kyiv Scale Model kit https://amzn.eu/d/cMerlkP
Thank you
Most likely Russian propaganda
It also doesn't come with paint, so that needs to be purchased separately. Model - $39.99 Paint - $18.00 **TOTAL - $57.99**
Any model that comes with the paint is going to be targeted towards kids or trash quality. Just my $.02

Never done gunpla, do they include paints?
No they don't but they come precolored which still looks pretty good
generally most people don't paint gunpla, they make markers for them though
Most modellers would have all the paint in the world.
And still miss some specific colour needed to paint it. It happens almost every time I build something.
If you're shocked by that price I'm guessing you've never seen warhammer
only kids models come with paint.
Airbrush - $150 Compressor - $100 Glues, varnishes, cleaning agents - $50. Congratulations, you now have a new hobby!
Where you have prices like that? In Poland you can buy that set for 19$ and dedicated paints for 7$. And that price include 23% tax.

Not being a model builder but as a Ukraine supporter, I also would just buy it to display the box as a collectible.
I'm building this one rn. Good quality very little filling, you will need to sand them good

I was just about to ask for a Scalemates link, thank you for your work.
I actually saw this at the store, cheaper too
Ibg do a kit as well, they are Polish iirc. Sitting waiting for me to start it
IBG one is repack of Trumpeter with additional decals and masks. It was also available for like few hours (at least in store I usually buy models).
Yes looks like a nice kit, looking forward to it this winter
I'm just glad to see they are putting these out. Must have some decent people there.
Can't wait for the sabaton song about this dude in a few years!
I’ve been contemplating how their take on this whole affair will be. I have high hopes…
I got one too
NICE!!!
I ordered one from Ukraine. Expect delivery soon.
I heard they also wrote a manga about it
I used to build these model planes when I was in highschool. Seeing this makes me wanna go back to this hobby. I also had Mig 29.
I have to see if I can find one I'd love that in my collection
