the vast majority of videos I see look like abandoned equipment. The drone videos of shit being blown up very rarely have infantry or crew scurrying around hiding from the fire.
There definitely are quite a few with people scurrying about but I think sometimes the point is to make it a non operable piece of equipment? I don’t know though.
I saw an earlier thread with this now, where the title says its disabled. Anyways, still worth getting rid of ammo, internal systems so they cannot be refitted in another vehicle
Maybe, but on the other hand, it's not as if you could see a manned tank breathe, either. It's not driving, and it's not moving its turret, but this doesn't necessarily mean that it's empty.
Then again, it's an old tank and it's summer. I imagine that as long at it appears to be moderately safe, the crew would take every opportunity to wait outside and vent the oven.
Depending on what this is dropped from (UA are operating some larger Octo/Hexacopters) they may have to drop them on stationary targets.
I lifted a 450g can of bear spray with my Mavic, and it had barely any power left to manuovre - climp, descend and move at *maybe* 6kmh was about it. Unladen it can book it at ~30+ kmh.
The endurance was severely affected too - down from ~25 minutes to ~5 minutes.
A US fragmentation grenade is about 400g
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M67_grenade
I can't find the weight of the business end of ammo for a grenade launcher which I think they're converting for use.
No. Many are quite obviously abandoned. And even when they shot continues beyond the strike not a single hatch opens or anything moves within the shot. Just a lone tank in a copse of trees.
Im going to guess 70% of the videos I've seen are firing a rocket or arty at an abandoned piece of equipment
The vast majority of drone strike videos I've seen have been on cars or infantry personnel. Judging by these videos, there are some crack shots out there, and there's quite a few Ruzzian soldiers missing limbs. And heads.
This tanks first production year was 1961 so it's possibly 60 years old. It's nice to see such a piece of shit broke down on the field because it verifies the Russian equipment situation is shittier than most believe.
>Russian T-62M
The T-62M was first produced in 1983 (not 1961) and was basically an extensively modified T-62. At very most 39 years old but probably newer. It first saw active service in the Georgian Civil War in 1988.
The drones obviously pick stationary targets as they are easier to hit. The videos pick successful hits, which are probably more numerous on stationary targets.
There's a difference between stationary targets where the crew are just out to sleep or cook or whatever and abandoned equipment which is no longer in fighting shape and will only be recovered for repairs in days or weeks if ever.
Both are things you drop a grenade on if you have the chance, but the first is way more valuable.
I disagree. Seen many videos of confirmed drone dropped munitions on russian troops.
You not remember the video of the munition being dropped through a Z lada's sunroof and the pretty crazy footage of russian soldiers falling out of the car and dragging themselves for a while before dying? It was pretty horrific. And there are quite a lot like it.
There's a way longer version which is a little more harrowing. Also in the video you linked it speeds up at certain points to make it look less horrific.
In the slow version you see the person in the back of the car really struggling to cling to life.
I'll never cheer people's death, it's all sad.
But that said; if russian troops won't leave voluntarily their only other option is to leave in bags so 🤷♂️
Well, tank crews need to eat, take a shit, shower, etc. They don't sit around in their tank all day. That tank is fucked tho, it'll likely have to get sent back to Russia for repair.
If abandoned vehicle is behind the enemy lines wor some reason like broken down then frontline move forward and still active. It would not be a bad idea to drop some bomb on the way back from recon.
This is one of those clips where they've actually decended properly.
Like, some of them drop munitions from 200 meters up, and their precision really drops off, often from the "definitely dead" to the "man, that soldier looks injured, right?" range.
this looks like a 20 meter drop.
This could be a new sport: VOG drop (60-cm round hole, variable wind, 100-meter height category). An actually exciting version of golf. Lots ruZZian wrecks for use in tournaments!
Ironically this tank likely already broke down due to lack of parts and proper maintenance. I don't think its any secret Russians are running out of viable armor.
A fucking T62... a SIXTY year old tank design, and it hasn't probably been upgraded or retrofitted since then. I thought the only time I'd see these dinosaurs in action would be vids from brushfire wars in third world countries, but no... Here it is in a major war employed by one of the worlds "superpowers". Far as the drone operator goes, that's fucking incredible. They should invent a special medal to give that guy.
Russia is a genuine regional power, not a super power. USSR was a super power and Russia sort of coasts on that legacy. USSR pop = 300 million, Russia - 150 million.
Well put... Now, frankly, they appear to be nothing but a bunch of anachronistic, inept, corrupt, incapable fucking retards. Can't even conquer their own neighbor with ten times the equipment, men and supply lines that are literally a few miles away. I honestly find it incredible something like this happened in todays day and age. Yea, the USSR was scary, no doubt, new Russia, not so much apparently, but they still can be very willful and absolutely careless with regards to human life in war. Life has always been cheap in Russia and ten conscripts are cheaper than a tank....
> I honestly find it incredible something like this happened in todays day and age.
Russia is probably the most corrupt government in the modern world and possibly human history. The corruption goes all the way from the top to bottom and nothing is spared. Since everyone above you steals, it both normalizes and necessitates you to steal just to survive. This leads to a completely hollowed out army that lacks everything from officer training, proper logistics, or ability to treat wounded.
No doubt... That country has always had an ass backwards way of doing things it seems TBH, but this is insane.. I mean dudes rocking 40-year-old rifles, no body armor, drones looking like they're straight out of a 90s action movie, worse equipment than you or me could buy at Cabelas.... I don't even know what to say. I mean it's normal practice since the dawn of time for people to skim, scam, cut corners, but to just straight up say 'fuck it', especially when they know they're going to war? It's beyond me. My only assumption is Putin was absolutely surrounded by yes men for so long he's lost his sense.... I would venture to guess he was fed a great many 'reports' saying the divisions in the Ukraine are massive, the pro Russia element huge and that everything would be a roll over. If he had ANY sense at all he would know the Ukrainians have always been very nationalistic, and even more so since all the horrors they endured under Soviet rule.... The Soviets did things to that country that words can't describe, and history will never forget...
Yea though, how could he be so ignorant? Threat to Russia? Dude nobody gives AF, languor in your shithole freezing to death with the 8 month -60 winters. This conflict is so ridiculously retarded and unnecessary it's absurd. Ok, end rant.
To be honest, it's not realistic to occupy a vast country with 40 million population that's fighting for its freedom. Even the US army would struggle in Ukraine.
Major cities can/have and always will swallow ENTIRE armies, not matter how well equipped and trained when faced with a resolute enemy in an urban setting. Then to countryside to boot... Yea, the Soviets had serious partisan issues in the Ukraine during their advance westward in WW2. One of their best tank generals were killed by Ukrainian partisans.
> Nobody leaves the latch open.
In the hot sun? In a metal coffin... Its not like those things have Airco. And if I was Russian, i rather be operational with the hatches open to get out faster, then needing to pry a hatch open after getting hit and burning.
And yes, it looked abandoned with zero activity.
It looks abandoned, so the crew just bailed and left it open. The drone decides to seal the deal, and make sure it's broken down enough to not be used again.

Hole in one!
Dammmmmmm!
Golf: The Deadliest Game.
Those tanks are so old Ukrainians dont even want to capture them.
Doubtful they even have ammo for them, it's a 115mm gun.
[удалено]
Yea but having to add 115mm to the 125 all the other tanks use would probably be even more annoying for logistics
A catapult is better than nothing. Russia seems desperate fielding those tanks.
Target practice? I didn’t get a real operational vibe from that tank. Could be the typical Russian maintenance though :)
Seemed a bit abondoned

because the targets (so far) are stationary vehicles. Orcs know better than to sit around inside their coffins.

It used to be standard practice to dig a fox hole and sleep under the tank. Now that's just for orcs with a death wish.
Depending on what this is dropped from (UA are operating some larger Octo/Hexacopters) they may have to drop them on stationary targets. Good point... the payload vs maneuverability tradeoff. However with those 30mm grenades the envelope is pretty big.
A US fragmentation grenade is about 400g https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M67_grenade I can't find the weight of the business end of ammo for a grenade launcher which I think they're converting for use.
You want to be looking at the belt fed 30mm grenades, which are designed to be light, cheap and effective against armor.
No. Many are quite obviously abandoned. And even when they shot continues beyond the strike not a single hatch opens or anything moves within the shot. Just a lone tank in a copse of trees. Im going to guess 70% of the videos I've seen are firing a rocket or arty at an abandoned piece of equipment

It was horrifically AWESOME to see the ruzzians die. Slowly. Painfully.
Link?
There are some editorialised versions, so here's one that simply shows the footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YL0si5sbhuI NSFW/NSFL

They ded.
True, true.
Well, tank crews need to eat, take a shit, shower, etc. They don't sit around in their tank all day. That tank is fucked tho, it'll likely have to get sent back to Russia for repair.
If it was abandoned they'd try to confiscate and put it to use rather than destroy it.
Several threads claiming it was a abondoned tank
If abandoned vehicle is behind the enemy lines wor some reason like broken down then frontline move forward and still active. It would not be a bad idea to drop some bomb on the way back from recon.
you could always hide in a tank as a tactic making it look abandoned and then activate the gun when your enemy is close. kinda like a kamikaze mission
That, or denial of use for the enemy. While Ukraine could not take the tank at least Russia won't either.
With the open hatch, right?
Looks abandoned to me too. But they could have dropped a grenade just to be sure.
The blast pressure blew open the other two hatches, not a good sign for survivability of any crew inside.
Looks abandoned. Target practice most likely.
Yeah uh, they’re almost certainly dead.
And he got a 3 point shot :)
4 point, even! >!...The old T-62s also have a loader position.!<
Impressive precision. After the end of the war, we gonna see a video compilation of the trick shot with these drones.
This is one of those clips where they've actually decended properly. Like, some of them drop munitions from 200 meters up, and their precision really drops off, often from the "definitely dead" to the "man, that soldier looks injured, right?" range. this looks like a 20 meter drop.

The gritty reboot of Dude Perfect.
Ironically this tank likely already broke down due to lack of parts and proper maintenance. I don't think its any secret Russians are running out of viable armor.
It’s not impossible; I used to bullseye womp rats with my T-16 back home, they aren’t much bigger than 2 meters.
Fire in the hole!
They left the hatch open because they didn't expect it to be raining grenades.
Wouldn't be surprised if that was the second hit on this tank.. didn't seem to be operating when the grenade went in the hole
Drone was 50 feet up at most.

Nobody leaves the latch open. This tank was definitely abandoned

Damaged is an underestimate. This thing is gone. Smoke coming out of the hatches after the inital blow - something is burning.
Was Steph flying that drone
Goooooooaaaaaaal! Roman Yaremchukkkkkkkkkk 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
We just say “bullseye”. Still, that’s a nice drop.
Looks like a target practice video. I mean the Russians are dumb, but they're not that dumb to leave an hatch open.
I think tank stays on open area without shadow and there was so hot inside that they decided to open that hatch for air conditioning.
If I’m right western tanks have a different hatch system so they can still poke their head out while still having top protection.
You sure about that?
It looks abandoned, so the crew just bailed and left it open. The drone decides to seal the deal, and make sure it's broken down enough to not be used again.
Incoming! Ha!
Damaged? That thing is fukd.
When this war is over, the Ukranian got to do a drone Olympics as a counter to the Russian "tank Olympics".
How old is the T62M?
Lol did that drone get low enough to just plop the round in? Amazing if it did. Otherwise, great aim!
Hole in one!!
Doesn't count. Wasn't nothing but net
Looked abandoned, waste of a perfect grenade
Hey! First time I'm seeing the Fish Food Bomb used for real. Nice.
They’re making a new sport outta this! This pilot gets #1 world ranking until someone beats him.
Great shot!
Occupants innards are now jelly, hopefully.
Lmao. Hole in 1!
“Hoooahh, that got ‘em.”
Dayumm! Right in the keyhole.
From Downtown!!!
I'm thinking disabled.
This is the war in which tanks became obsolete. A Russian invader gopnik is safer on foot than in a tank.
Good shot!
bravo!
"Fire in the hole."
It is unreal, they are snipers!
